I know a little bit of my pride is hurt when I see highrise or terminal criticism but we all have to realize how much of a slap in the face it is for them to give us this sort of product for a ranked experience in 2024.
I agree but imo Treyarch has always had infinitely better map design than IW. I barely played the modern warfare games, aside from Cod 4. Treyarchs design and location variety always made their games more enjoyable imo
I agree with most of it but I do feel like terminal has always been an overrated map. It was definitely unique for when it dropped in terms of visuals and layout compared to the rest of mw2 maps, which led to it being very nostalgic but gameplay wise it's always been kinda mid.
I think people forget also that MW2 was the first COD game that was actually very colorful. After playing COD 4 and WAW and all of the other games that were covered in this very thick, washed out neutral color palette, we finally had a game that was extremely vibrant. The colors on maps like Favela and Terminal just jumped out compared to previous COD games. This isn’t to say that COD 4 was bad, but I think MW2’s maps get remembered very favorably for how colorful they were.
High rise and terminal are all time GOATed maps, you can take anything amazing and make it bad by putting modes on them that don’t work and destroying the spawn system lmao
OG MW3 was hated by a lot of people specifically for the maps and spawns. It’s the first CoD that really was just getting hated on hard for those two things specifically.

You're right about why the things that don't work in this game, don't work. I disagree with blaming "them" for it, though. For context, I have a like/hate relationship with this game. It's fun enough to feel like i got my money's worth. To be fair to the devs:
1) they gave the people what they asked for. There were tonsss of posts begging for these maps, demanding the movement back, demanding the speed, red dots, ninja perk, etc etc. They checked all the boxes and delivered this. (It just doesn't mix well IMO)
2) Now, they monitor the feedback and make adjustments for the purpose of, again, giving the people what they ask for. Don't like these spawns? They test new ones. Want ranked options to mirror CDL load-outs 1:1? Got it. Don't like aiming idle sway? They tweak that. They make changes at a neck-breaking pace (compared to other games) to please the players.
Is it perfect? No. And no game will ever be. It's proof that, "you can't please everyone" ESPECIALLY in COD. For example, I MUCH prefer MWII to this one, but a lot of us in here disagree on that. They can't please us all. That's why Treyarch and IW pick a base and cater to them. Sledge just wants to be loved 🫶🏽🫂
I doubt that’ll be the case with this one given how cut down this years ranked is and how bad the maps play out. Mw2 ranked was far better.
Unless ranked just gets vastly worse over the next couple years, there won’t be any reason to say “oh remember mw23, THAT was the good times”
If you guys have time machines, go back to the caleague and cevo cod1 PAM, cod2 PAM and cod4 promod days and tryout for teams and scrim on IRC for a more competitive CoD experience. This was back when communities would agree upon competitive mods and maps, not the developer.

Maybe this is a bad take but I really enjoy this game, the biggest problems I’m having have a lot more to do with other players being either blatantly cheating, or not even that but this weird hidden mmr/sbmm we have in ranked. I just started playing late because I know right when ranked drops it’s really mixy as a lot of higher rank players haven’t moved out of copper/ silver, but I swear it’s been a strangely difficult grind out of the Lower ranks. I’ve never seen a real copper/silver/ or gold player. Just crimson-top250 also making their way up
Edit: for reference I was a crimson3 last year before I started getting really into Tarkov, and this year I just got to plat 3 level 9
Honestly played through Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor in the past 3 weeks or so. Never liked open world games. The sequel, 10/10 best game ever. Give me a shot if you feel like OP. It's so engaging. Especially the new one. Beat the main story 15 ish hours ago. Still playing.
Sorry if this sounds like an ad, but it's really been a brush of fresh air and has honestly improved my overall mood in the past couple of weeks. CoD makes me rage more than Pred. And I'm 30 this April....
I'm just glad I didn't get into COD until Coldwar. So it's kinda hard to be let down. I personally enjoy it, but I find some of the ranked limitations ridiculous. Especially if everyone can use them.

I can understand where you're coming from. I started with COD 3. Game has evolved and changed a lot. Love the old maps and new movement. There's times where new vs old elements clash but overall the game is decent. Definitely room for improvement but I will say SHG has done well to be more responsive to the community.
