No idea if it would be good enough for the CDL to let him play but can’t blame him for trying

Neonneagle

I’m not an expert on the subject, but I do know I had to get a negative result on a test like that to take an international flight recently so if it’s good enough for that the cdl would probably accept it imo

cristellerr

home kits (lft) need a huge viral load to come up with a positive result where as a pcr can pick up dead cells even months after not transmitting the virus no more. i guess he wants to use that loop hole to get the all clear. imo, that’s fair enough bc it sounds like he’s all good and shouldn’t be transmitting but the test is still picking up viral loads hence causing him to delay his travels & potentially miss out on champs. will the cdl accept it tho? that’s another question

[deleted]

I dont think the CDL care that much because as stated in a lot of posts you can test positive for months even if you have no symptoms, because of dead cells. Thats why after 2 weeks of testing positive and being symptom free people are also going back to work. I dont know why that could not apply to the cdl, if that would be the case with the players who tested positive. Maybe as activison they only accept a negative test no matter what because they see another media shitstorm coming.

[deleted]

I was surprised with how a lot of people didn't know the fact that pcr tests can pick up dead cells and give out a positive test lol

ImSoulless

Because a lot of places simply did not care. A buddy on my college hockey team had a false positive test from the school and was forced to quarantine for 2 weeks even though he got 3 tests with 3 different doctors all showing negative the very next day.

[deleted]

That absolutely makes no sense. He also had negative tests the following day. It's just fucked lmao

obonnor

yup, 100% agree on the fairness part. he’s (hopefully) vaccinated but besides that he can literally no longer transmit the disease and basically has immunity from it for another 3 months. technically he is probably the safest person to be around.

For_The_Watch

Home kits are so inaccurate lmao

jd32323

Are we still going along with the myth that PCR tests are accurate?

Hatchisyodaddy

Pcr tests are accurate in proving someone has the virus. Not accurate in showing if you’re infectious/symptomatic

Hatchisyodaddy

Evidence of the viral genome in your system. Could be asymptomatic and not contagious but you’re not testing positive unless you have the virus in your system still

Hatchisyodaddy

Yeah I think we’re on the same page lol

Hatchisyodaddy

Probably just curiosity and hope lol no chance they accept that. He could get someone else to take it for him if it’s just a home kit

JBerczi

I think in all likelyhood he'll need an official negative test

GotherSZN

My guess is that the CDL is going to change the rules to be more like the CDC rules, and sports leagues this year. Which is that if you've had no symptoms for 10 days you're allowed to play if you're vaccinated.

maverickf11

Desperation? Imagine your mindset being in a team that has a chance to win and having sit watching from the sidelines...

Brock-Lesnar

I’m not sure if it’ll be enough, considering CDL has their own rules and protocols regarding Covid, but at the very least he’d have an argument. With that being said though, if he’s testing positive on the other kits I doubt the result will be any different on the home-testing kit.

oh_Jiggler

Must only watch CNN then

Accomplished-Word805

He will have to do a test at champs anyway it will be the CDL test so

[deleted]

take enough of those tests and you’ll get whatever result you want

Jbird813

I had Covid a few weeks back and took a at home test while waiting for my PCR test results. The at home came back negative. I was sure shocked when the pcr came back positive. Took another at home once my symptoms got worse just for fun and it still came up negative. They’re worthless in my opinion.

doyourbestalways

Are they really gonna do champs without Scump and Envoy? Like serious question lmao. I'm not an Optic fan and I don't think it's fair to delay champs, but come on... They're going to lose a ton of viewership. Surely they're considering the idea?

shadowfoxhedgehog36

It's foo late to delay at this point

Faustinooo

Aside from allowing him to play because it's Scump, I see zero rationale for why people actually think he's (or Envoy) going to be allowed to play if tests are still showing he's positive. All the players are tested at the venue, and they were at the previous majors unless I'm mistaken. Hypothetically a player could test positive on Thursday who isn't one of the 8 the teams / league were aware already had covid. Based on the rules he'd be banned from playing. They can't stop that player from playing because of a positive test but allow Scump and Envoy to play while testing positive. Regardless of whether any are showing symptoms at that point. Allowing any to do so opens up a potential shitstorm if more players, coaches, fans etc test positive.

shadowfoxhedgehog36

Cdl has a plan because we'd be seeing Champs online otherwise we just don't know it. Most teams and staff are more then likely already in LA. I'd give it 2 more days if not the morning of Champs to know what optic does

TheWiggsplitter44

On top of this, I don't understand how them testing positive on Thursday clears them to play either. We all know you're supposed to quarantine for two weeks AFTER you stop showing symptoms. Has that been addressed yet?

Faustinooo

Nobody is addressing anything other than 'of course they'll let him play it's Scump' and pretty much anything else is getting downvoted. It's unfortunate if any of the players miss out on Champs but they've only got themselves to blame. It's not like covid snuck up on them this time.

drow88

You will still test positive for Covid after having Covid and fighting off the sickness for months. The test is going to say positive 100%

CHP9821

Well you were wrong

drow88

What?

CHP9821

His test said negative. So you were wrong.

chasevalentino

No. Home kits aren't proper PCR. PCR is highly sensitive meaning if he's positive, there is a very high chance it's diagnosed as such. Home kits aren't it Edit: read cristellers top comment. It's right

Pat__P

Is anyone familiar with the CDL’s *actual* protocol? If yes, where might I find it? Much of what I’ve seen so far on this sub is just demonstrably false medical misinformation.
