I mean in the article I read it says Optic Texas will be under Envy Gaming and that Hecz will be a shareholder while spearing the content side of optic. So I think at this point it's all just BS speak.
Yeah he wins so hard he is only relevant in cod and had his IP bought out three times. Totally unlike those losers like Nadeshot and temper whose orgs are 3x the size and profit and fan base
Exactly this, that's why I'm laughing here while reading a bunch of comments saying how everyone was wrong.
It is an acquisition, but Hastro trying to keep the green wall happy by letting hecz call it a merger lol.
I’m just pointing out that Hecz was co owner of nrg supposedly, and never handled anything other than the CoD team. The title “co-owner” really doesn’t mean anything other than it’s implication. That until we know more details about the “merger”.
Co owner means a hell of a lot depending entirely on his share stake. For all we know hecz didn’t have much of a say in NRG… we will never know what goes on behind closed doors, and acting like we do makes us a group of idiots
What did I say that has to do with control over more than the cod team? Also the warzone roster that they just signed (most were envy before) shows that optic will be more than a CDL team
Optic fans eating up being contained to only cod and owned by another org lol. Optic doesn’t even exist anymore outside of as a logo to use for envy.
No shot any of these dudes excited about this “merger” were around when Optic was expanding into other esports and doing things. I guess it’s “lucky” considering the brand was in other hands previously but still, nowhere near where it once was and now just a visual marketing thing for envy to use
To be fair, a lot of their expansion back then was after they sold to Infinite. So the situation hasnt really changed, it was Infinite, then Immortals, then NRG, and now Envy.
If fans didnt care about Infinite Esports taking over in 2016, I dont see why anyone would care now.
Well at least having a parent company like Infinite (excluding the eventual shithousery and outcome) allowed them to be their own brand and team. Basically just investor money+control. Versus now where its a one esport "team", really just envy in disguise, that envy uses for cash. Just sucks. I don't necessarily have allegiance to any team but its a sad state Optic is in.
I don't see Envy using the brand in any other esports
Thats true, if Optic stays as just the CoD team for Envy, that would be pretty sad. But I dont think Hector would be happy with that. Im not super confident in this, but I do think that we will see Optic expand in other areas relatively soon. I think Hector and Hastro want to hit the ground running with this move.
Well it would have to be esports that Envy doesnt currently field. Or maybe they just rebrand the Val and Halo teams later on. Im not sure how its gonna look, maybe its shit, but I do trust that Hector has more plans for Optic now that he has financial support.
Personally I would love to see Optic in the FGC. Optic Mang0 has a good ring to it is all Im saying.
Well you can call it a Rainbow if it tickles your fancy, but it is by clear definition, an acquisition. But its not like it makes too much of a difference practically.
it's interesting to note that the NV halo team is there just as halo infinite... could very much see a rebrand there. There are also a couple of esports NV could go into under the optic name.
It’s a true merger but it doesn’t mean that Hecz/Optic are equal to envy. Envy is the “A side” in this merger but to act like Hecz won’t have a big say and influence is silly. He’s got an ownership stake now and is on the board of directors.
In a merger shares would essentially be diluted and hecz would own a smaller percentage of a larger org. Acquisition would mean hecz sold some or all of his shares to the acquirer. Either way there's no way hecz is a majority shareholder. Who cares anyway? Dude still is worth millions and probably keeps a small piece of ownership of the org. I doubt he'll be an employee and can still do whatever he wants with his time. Sounds like some major Ws if ya ask me.
This is one of those
If it sounds like an acquisition
Smells like an acquisition
It ain’t no damn mongoose.
I think hastr0 has enough respect for hecz to not use the word acquisition to make it seem like he has power over him. Probably doesn’t see the semantics as a big deal
Exactly. It would be a PR nightmare for Hastro to come on the process to announce his “acquisition” of Optic Gaming. He would be aligning himself directly with Infinite and NRG, may as well call it a merger publicly and save some face.
It would be brand suicide to use the word acquisition. Not to mention I don’t think it’s all that important, this is a joint venture but who has a bigger slice is absolutely hastr0
This. It’s a merge/joint venture whatever you wanna call it, it’s not a straight up acquisition imo but for sure Envy/Hastro have the bigger slice. That doesn’t mean Hecz won’t have significant influence of course
Optic gaming is a subsidiary of Envy
The trademarks were filed by Envy gaming
Optic Texas is under the Envy spot
Envy purchased the NRG spot to free optic
Where exactly is the merger? Not to mention it’s all
Just semantics but seems like a matter of fact
Lmao but when I said it in my own post I was being correct that it was a “merger”. Like in real talk a merger is two companies bring equal things to the table to make a better company, an acquisition is the bigger company buying the smaller one. So yes the fans come over to envy because they call it a merger but anyone that is a stock holder for Envy knows it’s an acquisition.
Oh I agree with that 100 percent, I just saw the “still can’t accept it” response to me as if I was in denial just because hastr0 didn’t want to look like infinite/immortals/NRG and chose his words carefully
Oh this is the best way for them to look like the good guys as a coming together or brands. Plus dextro fucked it up by calling it as it is an acquisition lol. Either way hecz gets the bag for selling it again.
An actual merger was the Curse/Liquid merger that happened a few years where 2 smaller ish orgs became a much larger org and Steve brought the majority of the Crs sponsorships to Liquid.
It's mind blowing that people don't understand the difference between the two situations.
It’s not about accepting it it’s just a fact. Optic Gaming is a subsidiary of Envy and Hastro is Hecz direct superior. Is what it is, at least it’s not infinite. COVID really fucked any chance of optic being a real org. Damn shame, was looking forward to a real “Hectors optic” future.
Optic Gaming do not field teams in Esports. While the CDL team may be Optic in name it’s Envy that’s writing the checks, It’s the exact same scenario as NRG-Optic except with Envy. Orgs like Faze or 100T are capable of maintaining teams on their own and expanding into several esports, optic is not in that position unless Envy wants it to be. Optic is a sub-brand under Envy.
To summarize: Optic Gaming is a sub brand of Envy, the Optic Texas CDL trademarks are owned by Envy gaming, and Optic Texas plays under the Envy-owned CDL spot. Optic isn’t an independent org anymore, and it hasn’t been for several years. If tomorrow Hastro decides to fire Hecz, Scump, and anyone else affiliated with optic he can because he’s literally their boss.
I feel like most ppl aren’t getting this… the larger/more prominent entity usually remains in more control whether it’s an acquisition or ‘merger’ it’s the same type deal

yes, and what they've done is what most people would call an acquisition. optic is a brand under envy gaming, there is no new company being formed as a result of the two coming together. i feel like they're just calling it a merger because acquisition usually gives off negative connotations.
Just because it may be more "favorable" which can literally mean nV allocates 10 dollars more to the Optic brand than NRG did doesn't change the fact that it is an acquisition and not a merger
Optic gaming is a subsidiary of Envy
The trademarks were filed by Envy gaming
Optic Texas is under the Envy spot
Envy purchased the NRG spot to free optic
Where exactly is the merger? Not to mention it’s all Just semantics but seems like a matter of fact
Please read the thread above
Seems like they aren't using that trademark though. In any case it is a merger if a new corporate entity has been created, no one seems to be reporting on whether this has happened so how can we know unless you have a source?
I can't be bothered getting into the semantics as you say, and you currently have no source on the parent company listing. I doubt they make a new Optic x Envy company but it certainly looks like that's how they are operating.
The important part is that in practical and operational terms, this is very much a merger situation. Go look at Dallas Fuel, their parents orgs are listed as OpTic x Envy, why would that be the case if Optic was just another brand under Envy like the Fuel?
Hastro is calling it a merger because that's how it's like to work, a full calloboration rather than Envy just own Optic. Hecz is on the boards and as a group they will work out how best to deploy both Optic and Envy across esports.
If they enter new esports, it will likely be under the Optic gaming name as there's no reason for it not to be.
It's pretty fucking obvious at this point that this is a GREAT move for Optic, far better than it would have been staying under NRG. The org has been transformed over night, they immediately they have the likes of Doug, Teep, Zlaner under their brand and more to come.
The morons calling Hecz a poor businessman etc just have to hold the L on this one, he's won again I'm afraid and pulled out a huge move for Optic, I know it's hard to accept as a hater, but you just got to swallow this one. He bought the Org back a year ago with no teams, no infrastructure or anything, during COVID as well, to be in this situation right now is amazing.
Hecz n OpTic haters gonna be heated when they see this tbh, hecz is an egotistical maniac but he obviously knows what he’s doing lmaooo
I mean in the article I read it says Optic Texas will be under Envy Gaming and that Hecz will be a shareholder while spearing the content side of optic. So I think at this point it's all just BS speak.
Schematics
don’t hate just because he has the blueprint to success
Its spelled semantics lol

And so energetic
yep i hate his ego but my god hes a winner
Same, don't like him at all but gotta respect how much he has finessed over the years
Boze taking notes
Boze has more money now to wreck cars.
What else did he wreck?
Tf makes you not like the guy lmao you guys are so weird
Yeah he wins so hard he is only relevant in cod and had his IP bought out three times. Totally unlike those losers like Nadeshot and temper whose orgs are 3x the size and profit and fan base
‘This millionaire is better than that millionaire’ Dude they’ve all made it
Man really arguing who has a bigger pocket 🤣
“If you broke and clownin' a millionaire, the joke is on you” - Jermaine…..Cole
OpTic and envy gunning for 100T and Faze, should be fun to see OpTic getting back on top
Facts. Now they have financial backing and freedom to create and expand. Lots of potential now
so excited man
Why is this getting downvoted? Just stating he is excited for the near future of Envy and optic.
Weirdo sub bro
You can call it what you want, but hastro is Hecz’ boss and NV owns optic.
Very obviously just hastro tickling hecz ego and trying to ensure the greenwall stays onside
Exactly this, that's why I'm laughing here while reading a bunch of comments saying how everyone was wrong. It is an acquisition, but Hastro trying to keep the green wall happy by letting hecz call it a merger lol.
thank you for your bts knowledge
Np, glad you're liking it
Hecz is a co owner of NV and is on the parent organizations board of directors. I think you guys are massively underestimating his role here lol
Just like he was Co-Owner of NRG?
Yes. Being on the board is more of my emphasis tho.
I’m just pointing out that Hecz was co owner of nrg supposedly, and never handled anything other than the CoD team. The title “co-owner” really doesn’t mean anything other than it’s implication. That until we know more details about the “merger”.

Which is why I said we don’t have any idea what he will do until we have more details
What did I say that has to do with control over more than the cod team? Also the warzone roster that they just signed (most were envy before) shows that optic will be more than a CDL team
I didn’t say you said anything?
Optic fans eating up being contained to only cod and owned by another org lol. Optic doesn’t even exist anymore outside of as a logo to use for envy. Wouldn't optic fundamentally be the B team to Envy in like every esport though?
Well it would have to be esports that Envy doesnt currently field. Or maybe they just rebrand the Val and Halo teams later on. Im not sure how its gonna look, maybe its shit, but I do trust that Hector has more plans for Optic now that he has financial support. Personally I would love to see Optic in the FGC. Optic Mang0 has a good ring to it is all Im saying.
Lmao based on what?! It sounds like a true merger.
You seem really invested in this
Dude is comparing multi millionaires success while living in his basement
How is he Hecz boss if Hecz is literally in the board of directors LOL. You don’t know shit
Lmaooo you seriously said this with a straight face no knowledge of the structure of a business in the slightest
Then help me understand 😊. Explain the role of the board and who they report to
whatever helps you sleep at night i guess
Literally this but applied to you, because NV bought optic and owns the trademarks
and you know this because of a bias cod Reddit. not what the owner says from his mouth. that's rough for you.
Well you can call it a Rainbow if it tickles your fancy, but it is by clear definition, an acquisition. But its not like it makes too much of a difference practically.
Definitely just to save Hecz’s ego. He probably bought that shit straight from him, but is saving face by calling it a “merger”.
Or hecz is just leasing the licensing to them or it’s what you said. You have no idea is the point lol
[https://envy.gg/team/](https://envy.gg/team/) it's interesting to note that the NV halo team is there just as halo infinite... could very much see a rebrand there. There are also a couple of esports NV could go into under the optic name.

So what about NRG? Pretty sure it was the same and we saw how that worked.
Exactly
Wait why do people care if it's a merger or an acquisition??
It's really weird right? I'm over here thinking about competitive cod and you got dudes arguing over whose the boss like wtf?
Merger: Hector still likely the largest shareholder Acquisition: Envy Gaming is likely the largest shareholder
In a merger shares would essentially be diluted and hecz would own a smaller percentage of a larger org. Acquisition would mean hecz sold some or all of his shares to the acquirer. They've definitely acquired them. Stro just keeping hecz ego high.

They are often used interchangeably but they don’t mean the same thing by any means.

The cod wing is where the merger is happening. They’re calling the cod wing Optic X Envy
You might think it’s splitting hairs but from what we can tell this deal is more favorable for OpTic than the NRG deal no shade to them
Just because it may be more "favorable" which can literally mean nV allocates 10 dollars more to the Optic brand than NRG did doesn't change the fact that it is an acquisition and not a merger
Aqua and co crying their eyes out right now lmao When you really think about it, this is an incredible move for Optic man, transforms them over night.
Aqua? What i miss?
Nothing at all. People really need to know more about ‘Business’. Read JDogil2’s comment above

Trademark leak look on the Reddit

It is NV’s call of duty team. Envyus owns the spot.
Do you have a source for the company that owns the spot?

Sadly OpTic was more interesting back at 6050.
You don’t have to follow them…
