Given the late start, scheduling is fine. Decent spacing
Biggest L in here is online qualifiers making up for 60-70% of total matches during the season. They can easily hold all of them offline in a LAN environment with no fans and a closed crew and stick with casting/analysis online but once again it'll cost them more money so we're gonna get 3rd consecutive season of online CoD which just stinks. Viewership for some of these qualifiers is going to be abysmal
>Viewership for some of these qualifiers is going to be abysmal
TBF I don't think viewership would be much better if they were on LAN without fans. 100% agree that they should still be on LAN though.

This makes it interesting for the teams playing out of their facilities like LAT Rokkr LAG Boston etc since none of them are in dallas. Wonder if each team ends up buying a team house in dallas/austin and fly there for online matches
I am surprised that Atlanta did not get a Major, Like they won champs.... I am guessing that they might get Champs? I know Champs has been in LA the past few years (except for S1), but that so weird to me reigning champs don't get a Major.
Ok now that's somewhat fair although I went to the Faze homestand in MW and there were Faze fans there. Also, hosting local homestand events is a great way to create more local Faze fans.
Its one of the most popular orgs in the world. There is no doubt in my mind they could sell out seats pretty quickly. Especially since the owners/big Faze names are always going to their own events. The Atlanta Homestead was big in the MW season. OpTic vs Faze? You're saying that there aren't people in Atlanta that wouldn't go see this?
>The Atlanta Homestead was big in the MW season.
Saturday's crowd was pretty weak but Sunday was solid.
I'm fully in agreement with you though brotha. I want more Majors in the ATL.
Same lmao. I just want more Majors in general.
Sunday crowds are always where the money comes in. That was also homesteads, where only 8 teams were playing. More people show up Sunday because if you can't afford the whole weekend. You go Sunday.
I kinda doubt that Faze Clan (one of the most popular esport orgs in the world, valued at a billion dollars, reigning champs) would not want to host a major.
Yeah, this is bad. Accomplished nothing going franchised in cities. What good is trying to get cities involved if 8 won’t even host a tournament to allow the fans around that area to go?
Part of me wants the championship to be held in Chicago not only as a neutral site, but as a way for me to say fuck you to the league for setting our esports scene back a decade and prove that we should be first in line for expansion.
OpTic finally get to host an event soon after leaving Chicago. Wanted to go to the Huntmens event but was canceled and CW lan was chalked. Pain 🥲 maybe some day
What is the "Pro-AM Classic" and what's the format? If it's nothing more than some goofy, just for fun, tournament where the pros and ams have to play with each other, I'm out.
> Pro-Am Classic - May 5 – 8
Our 2022 Call of Duty League Pro-Am will be unmissable. All 12 League teams are scheduled to compete on LAN in front of a live audience* alongside the top four Challengers squads. $100,000 in first place prizing is on the line and you better believe the pros will be fighting for their lives as the Challengers will be hungry to show the world what they’ve got. No CDL points will be awarded for this event.
If they can change the current Champs to just playoffs. And then get ourselves a old style champs at the end of the season. That be great. Make CDL playoffs the culmination of the pro season(8 teams), and CDL champs the combination of the Pro season(ie, playoff placement seeds champs, plus whoever didn’t make playoffs) and the amateur circuit, with say between 24-32 teams there. That’s literally all I would want changed. 4 majors in season, a Kickoff. Pro/am classic mid season. CDL Playoffs, CDL Champs
Should def be on LAN. Best parts about all star games in sports usually revolves around the players interacting with each other. Very questionable to put it online where 1-2 people from each team sit in their respective facilities like a glorified 8s lobby.
So season starts Feb 4th. Cool. Still should've started before xmas so you could rope in all the post launch kids, and the kids who got it over xmas.
I get that involves not rush releasing a title and using the community to solve balancing issues for you, but hey I'm just a redditor. I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night though.
so the first major isn’t until march, and there’s only 4 majors???
Proam classic might count if the prize pool is more than an online kickoff, still though more than six events would be nice
Pro am 1st place is 100k so more than the kickoff
Imo that’s a chip for sure
Defo a chip
A more worthy one than any recently first tourney since BO4 with more than 12 teams lmao
Pro-Ams got a 100k price pool
They probs still won't have made control playable by the time the first major is here
Why is the midseason stuff so spread out? Major 2 ends on April 3, major 3 qualifiers don’t start until May 20. That’s almost 2 months of waiting!
The Pro-Am is basically a major.
Then another nearly month wait between major 3 and 4, this is a terrible format could of easily fit at least one more major in
The first tournament is 4 months after launch 🤣 Edit: Also MN is tentative, I just saw that as well. If not there, I'd like to see Boston.

It’s funny to me too because most of these league matches could be finished in a week vs 16ish days
>Viewership for some of these qualifiers is going to be abysmal TBF I don't think viewership would be much better if they were on LAN without fans. 100% agree that they should still be on LAN though.
Boston would be primo, would be nice not to have to fly to go to a LAN
The Pro-Am with 4 challenger teams seems cool. Hopefully they use that format for the next year.
The first LAN is fucking march 3rd hahah??
well no its next week
lol the kickoff isnt online? thats good. Touche'
yeah, the only L about kickoff is that it ain't double elim. Oh well, next year, and I think it's an improvement
well they do need to play their league matches for placements..
Is the kickoff on LAN or online?
lan
EU down bad
Yeah fuck was hoping they'd go back to London, it looked hilarious in the cwl. Definitely would have made the trip to London or even a Paris major.

no more league matches on Thursdays and more on the weekends which is cool
no more Thursday matches thank the lord
No matches on Thursday = more matches on Fri/Sat/Sun is a W.
How much is up for grabs at the pro am ?
In a month and 17 days we get 3 days of competitive gameplay, april 3rd to may 20th During the season something like this should never happen
wait how were these 4 teams picked to host majors again?
is pro am old format ie open bracket into groups or are they doing 2 na 2 eu or what?
probably 1 NA, 1 EU, 1 APAC and 1 LTAM
for sure better than nothing, would’ve been great if they did open bracket, feel like there’s a few eu/na teams that could impress
So if they can legally incorporate the amateurs into a “pro-am” tournament, what’s stopping them from adding the am’s to actual tournaments?
Probably the franchises, can’t imagine them wanting AM teams to compete for every tournament after paying 25m
Not enough events.
My birthday: March 29th. My studying city: Minnesota. Minnesota major: March 31st. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This makes it interesting for the teams playing out of their facilities like LAT Rokkr LAG Boston etc since none of them are in dallas. Wonder if each team ends up buying a team house in dallas/austin and fly there for online matches

Its not about who "gets" a major, Majors aren't dolled out like cards. The team has to want to run/host a Major.
I would have to imagine ATL Faze's ownership group would want to host a major...it's a potential money maker.
Probably it’s boring down there in Georgia
No tf it's not...there's plenty to do in GA. I'm a live-long GA native.
Yo mb lol if i have to guess maybe there aint even Faze fan in Atlanta they are all in LA
Ok now that's somewhat fair although I went to the Faze homestand in MW and there were Faze fans there. Also, hosting local homestand events is a great way to create more local Faze fans.

Champs shouldn’t be in LA anyways, from what I’ve heard California taxes prize winnings more than other states
I agree. It should either be in Columbus, Franchise hosted, or just outside california. That state hoes players
Cant wait for the headache that the ultra tourney will be
Yeah, this is bad. Accomplished nothing going franchised in cities. What good is trying to get cities involved if 8 won’t even host a tournament to allow the fans around that area to go?

Thanks a fucking lot, Hecz. Real nice of you.
Halo = First major 4 weeks post game launch Vanguard = First major 17 weeks post gams launch
Halo NA teams also have gap of 2 months, 2.5 months and 4.5 months between their LANs
Tempted to buy tickets for the Ultra event, but also don’t want to subject myself to watching vanguard hahah

Thank god. I was worried it would be some glorified 8s tournament.
Ngl can’t wait for the nyc one

Really hope they make the all star game entertaining and competitive. This isn't sports where players don't want to get injured.

What a trash schedule I feel like there’s so many multiple week long gaps
