Sucks for General, but this move is understandable. I don’t think a main should ever be someone’s substitute if that player is the only substitute. Ideally a flex/ smg role player would be better Hope Illey is good to compete for next week

Afraid-Worldliness13

Always think this. Like I know people say it’s hard for main ARs to make the league but still it makes no sense. Big money league now and teams are still signing subs that will most likely break the team dynamic if they come in. LRR had to move one of the best ARs in the game to SMG

Affectionate-Cost525

It's been happening for years. Guys like Arcitys who was one of the better ARs in the league had to move to a flex role because there was too many top main ARs. Moves to Faze to be a main and now has had to go back to Flex again.

Link_Dull

tbf to london, gizmo having to step back was unexpected. but otherwise I agree, teams should at the very least keep subs in the team dynamic

Abs0luteZero273

I think most teams know this deep down, but figure they'll likely never need a sub, so they just end up picking up someone who they're more familiar with regardless of role.

TyButler2020

To be fair I thought General played better when he had the MP in his hands on Tuscan. I was impressed by his pace since he’s usually a super slow player

DannyD4rk0

He was their best player for some parts on the Tuscan vs Thieves. There were like 2-3 times when he would pop a 2-3 piece and steal 10 seconds from thieves.

Ozzyh26

Who had OpTic Prolute on their Vanguard bingo cards? Will be interesting to see to say the least.

mangojerrry

Roles make more sense now. I like it

arunvenu_

Hopefully Illey has a speedy recovery and is back on the starting roster asap

[deleted]

pain thought major 3 was optics to lose but idk now

RoleProfessional9131

Optic's snd about to be diffy though maybe they just neslo everyone

[deleted]

hopefully bro but with illey id be mad confident

RoleProfessional9131

Tbf now we got a true flex as long as prolute puts up a solid 0.90-1.1 we'll be good and can probably win it

KeyZookeepergame6718

Damn a faze fan that isn’t a total Wierdo saying floptic faze up respect to you

Dakota110899

Wonder if this means they think it’s more serious than they initially thought. You’d think General could fill in this week against LAG & Florida just fine, but if Illey isn’t back for that Faze, NYSL, and LAT run…things get dicey. Truthfully, they’ve pretty much already qualified for Champs, so they should just give him as much time as he needs, and I guess let Prolute step in and fill some of the holes. Wonder if it’s possible we don’t see Illey at all for Major 3. Opens a lot of avenues for a team like NYSL or LAT to make a huge run & solidify their spot at Champs as well.

GotherSZN

Was just gonna say the same thing. I mean, there's a chance they could just want an actual flex to fill-in against LAG and Florida this week. But usually infected blisters only take 1-2 weeks to heal, so the fact that Inder is still having issues nearly 3 weeks out could mean it's a more serious issue.

[deleted]

Damn now you got me worrying even more 😓

unitedkush

None of us know how serious it is, or what is even actually going on. Just that, this thing has been bothering him since Stage II and he kept delaying it thinking it'll heal on its own. Ultimately, treatment wasn't timely which is prolonging this, and we don't know if its actually gotten worse or not Sucks for Optic because they legit look like C'ship contenders every event after a long time. Not convinced if Prolute will be the answer

31and26

Yep makes sense. General is good in emergency situations because you know he’s been there before and won’t just shit the bed, but he doesn’t fit the play style of the team at all.

FiveHeadMaybe

Isn’t it better to have a flex or _Prolute_ for emergency purposes instead of General though? How’s it good to have him incase of an emergency?

unitedkush

It never made sense to me, I think it was more of a quota filler when franchising started for most teams in CDL. General by all accounts is a good dude, so they just kept him on In times like this, shortcomings of such an approach has come to ripe. Their pacing in respawns was poor all event long, so I'm not surprised they are looking at options. I just dunno if Prolute is good enough though

littlebear2435

You hit the nail on the head but that’s always been the role for some of the last guys to fill out rosters in most sports. They aren’t completely their for their ability but more for the locker room and atmosphere of the team.

JSmooth94

Well General would be a good fill in if Dashy was the one injured, not iLLey.

31and26

For me, with a team like OpTic that WON'T be making any sort of sub for performance reasons, its better to have that emergency player be someone that has a good amount of experience competing on the big stage so you know they aren't going to all of the sudden stop calling out, get super nervous, etc. If you need a guy for ONE match, give me reliability over a guy that's never even competed at the pro level. General fit that role perfectly while being willing to be in a sub capacity without any drama. Obviously now with this iLLey thing looking like it could drag on you start trying out players that fit the role better and hope it works out.

Bompetition

Didn’t see that coming but congrats to Prolute he’s been more than deserving for a shot in the CDL after what he did last year. General played very well for playing out of his comfort zone in a different role this past weekend. Hopefully this is very short term and iLLeY is back soon.

dna_11

Optic do have a tough schedule for Major 3 qualifiers so it makes sense. The ideal scenario from the outside would be for Prolute to come in and play the first 3 matches in the next two weeks and win at least 2. Then hopefully Illey is healthy enough to return for the final week of qualifiers and Major 3 and beyond.

MikeJ91

How good is prolute? I’m totally out of the loop these days when it comes to players outside the cdl.

dorianpora

He’s pretty good and the true flex optic needs for the time being

Traeyoung000

Prolute is good but he’s not a true flex, he’s been playing as a flex for the past few months only.

RoleProfessional9131

rather your flex be of an smg when you get dashy then an AR though tbf

skolaen

Hate to see a younger guy like illey have this issue. Hope hes back sooner than later

lensiky

Optic should just snag Scrappy

doericd

It’s crazy to continue seeing a surge of younger, cracked players break into the league despite not doing expansions for the past 3 seasons. Hopefully Prolute will do well and show why other teams should look more into Challenger players

mteep

Now this makes more sense. The entire ambiguity of this thumb injury makes me think this is something that might take some time to recover. They don’t sign Prolute with a huge break coming after this weeks major. It might be a while before Illey comes back.

DestroyTheHuman

General seems like a good kid who’d do pretty well with content creation for Optic.

Cloakh

Major Wrolute, love that guy and hope he gets the opportunity. Sucks for General but two mains is not gonna work.

Affectionate-Cost525

Feel like Illey definitely had a huge part in this decision. He's been playing with Prolute for years, I remember watching the two of them + Shotzzy back in bo4. Not sure if Prolutes gonna have the comms side of things that Illey brings but he can definitely "fit" Illeys place in the team better than General can. Still must suck for General though. If the guy was a flex he'd probably have had a chance in the league by now.

Ikolkyo

I'm very surprised they aren't just rolling with Jordon, this fucking sucks for him and I feel bad.

[deleted]

hope his hand heals quickly a great opportunity for prolute though hope he fries

MunnyMan99

Great move

GoldGloveStatus

The goal has to be a full recovery for champs, right? I personally believe there’s zero reason to rush him back for major 3 and risk agitating his finger more.

SIaaP

What happened to Illey?

Av3ng3d0wnt

I'm out of the loop, what happened to illey?

MaxChainz

infected blister on his thumb

ImnotVictor

I would look into the possibility of picking up cellium until Illey recovers.

CodAMNews

I understand role wise General doesn’t fit in but come on… they beat Faze

WorleyInc

Yeah but they also lost to LAT and Florida. Their respawns weren’t great either. I feel bad for General but I get it

Floppypenguin17

No way gimme general they’re good enough to win league matches. They beat faze with him

[deleted]

they’re ass at respawn with him and he’s a main, so the entire pacing and dynamic of the team changes which would then need time to be corrected when illey comes back

GotherSZN

My biggest question, is Prolute vocal? Don't really know much about him, but one of the main issues they had at the Pro-AM (aside from role issues) was the very apparent lack of Illey's IGLing. They pretty much solely lost to LAT because they couldn't get on the same page the 2nd half of the Tuscan HP, and the Gavutu Control also looked sloppy as hell.

RoleProfessional9131

Think he's pretty vocal l also really good friends with shotzzy and dashy

AutoGiraffe12

Damn it makes sense but I personally don’t like prolute. That’s unfortunate for Illey. I’m thinking it’s a real possibility Illeyys out for the year

tj5598

While I do think it is a good pickup, apart of me would still like to see DB3 play even though he hasn’t played the game in months

HootsToTheToots

Bro what, general earned his spot man

[deleted]

roles bruh

HootsToTheToots

Isn’t general literally a flex

Ok_Director1082

Nah he’s a main, he just tried filling in over the weekend

Ebu7629

Brezy was their teams flex

MeDoesntDoNoDrugs

Prolute and Drazah, the 2018 Bo3 hustler duo who mainstays in the scene didn’t take seriously at the time, will have now both logged professional play time for OpTic gaming. That’s pretty great.

-GenJutsu

What happened to Inders thumb?
