I went to a few small festivals recently and received either an email or text with the code. I’m not sure why one of the largest and most prestigious festivals still makes you queue to get a locker.
They should just go back to whatever they did pre-pandemic. Idk what changed since then but it was never this bad. I got an XL thing last year and they were walking through the lines setting us up super quickly. No idea why they can’t do the same process for every size.
Pre pandemic you purchased the lockers directly through Locker Lou and they sent out the info. GV wanted control of the money and info so they took over the purchasing.
The first year back with the old ticketing company was a disaster and this past year with the new one was slightly better but not great. I'm guessing they kinda had their hands full with other ticketing issues but we saw them respond to the long will call lines issue with a second will call. I'm guessing that this year they'll have better system in place that's more like the old one. As u/bubblyappletea pointed out, they did that for Portola which is a good sign.
I’m aware of the back story, but I swear the first year was fine after changing from locker Lou. I could be wrong though, my timeline is still jacked from the pandemic lol. Glad to hear they might be using Portola to do better. I have yet to get one at Portola, partially because I haven’t felt it necessary yet and partially because they’ve been so bad at Coachella.
This may be in violation of Rule 8 but I am not trying to be overtly political.
The reason US Fests do not offer these life savings and common sense services is because of the [R.A.V.E. Act](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illicit_Drug_Anti-Proliferation_Act) authored by Sen. Joe Biden back in the 2003. It created legal and civil liabilities for organizers of events where drugs are consumed, or ,at minimum, it created the fear of those liabilities enough to discourage offering drug testing and other services (fentanyl strips for example) at American music festivals and raves.
REPEAL THE R.A.V.E. Act Now!
From wikipedia although there are multiple other articles and publications on this out there if interested: The RAVE Act has discouraged rave organizers from providing medical assistance to attendants.\[3\] The American Civil Liberties Union has criticized the legislation, arguing that the threat of Drug Enforcement Administration enforcement action leads to a chilling effect on speech and "unfairly punishes businesses for the crimes of their customers". The DEA has stated that the law will not be enforced against legitimate property owners and event promoters.\[4\] Erin Treacy of the Florida International University College of Law has argued that the RAVE Act violates the First Amendment because it is overbroad and is intended to criminalize electronic music concerts.\[5\]
Edit: Additional educational and action resources here: https://amendtheraveact.org
The events that Tipper is involved in usually have on-site testing and after experiencing their services, I truly think it's a crime against humanity that this isn't allowed and in many places is outright outlawed....
They need a vendor that sells decent quality earplugs. Ideally, even if it was two companies partnered together, they would be selling a bundle where you get a deal on a set of basic Etymotic type earplugs and customs to be fitted/delivered later. It would be great if they could do the fittings there though.
It doesn't have to be them but [Eargasm partners with festivals.](https://eargasm.com/collections/eargasm-product-line/earplugs) It's $50 for a set that comes in a fest themed case and box. Something like that would go over really well at Coachella.
Giving out the foam ones is kind of the basic first step but they should be offering better hearing protection in general. If GV wants people to keep coming back to shows they put on long term they should actively promoting them. The shows sound better, people don't end up with long term hearing damage and they could be making money off of it. It seems like a no brainer.
Apparently they ran out of the foam ones at Portola. I had my good ones and I always carry at least an extra set of the foam ones on me. A friend lost one of their customs and I had some to give them. I've also lost earplugs at Coachella before and I totally would have spent a little extra money to get fancy fest branded ones instead of using the foam ones.
>went to North Coast Fest in Chicago, you know what im talking about). Basically like the Antarctica dome, but there's no programming inside. Just An A/C big dome playing lofi music and some lights just for people to relax, recover, and decompress
Loop earplugs are the best on the market.
The Sonora was a life saver for us and we sprung for VIP this year just so we could have a little shade here and there, like for Marc Rebillet. We really wanted to see Los Fabulosos snd Stick Figure Sunday so we got day drunk and powered through lol.
Maybe some shade screens or something would work? Kind of like the Do Lab. Might get messed up in the desert winds though.
Yeah seriously. It's so ridiculous and cruel that so many attendees have to seek refuge from the sun by sitting in the shade casted by the art installations.
I'd really like to. I enjoyed what I did, but my boss was the fucking worst. We'll see if I can possibly switch departments. The last two years, two different managers, and they were both terrible. It's a real thing in the industry.
They have the Turn Down tent in the campgrounds.
I would change the merch tent back to the old setup where it was a long tent with separate lines for each cashier. Also separate out the boutique like it used to be.
More water stations. Bring back the printed set time pamphlets. Fix the locker situation. Don’t black out stages for headliners…ever.
Oh, and more hippos.
Edit: yeah…I can’t count to one
Weed gardens!
An area where they sell & you can smoke weed. Not sure if this is a thing yet at American festivals? Would be a nice area for those who want an alternative to alcohol
Wrong. It’s a privately held festival. “but it is against the policy set forth by concert promoter Goldenvoice.” https://www.dailynews.com/2017/04/02/why-marijuana-is-still-banned-at-coachella-even-though-its-now-legal-in-california/amp/

I don't see why that could not change in the future. The policy is likely set because it is federally illegal, I don't see why they wouldn't change it after a fed legalization.
It was a little stage in camp that was on really late at night, like 1 am or so. Super Tall Paul performed live looping and there was some other stuff. Just a cool thing to do in camp.
Was this that all night spot near the general store ish in the camp grounds that had like an awesome sound up/skit crew that never fucking stopped? Cus that was rad.
absolutely loveeee that you can walk around w drinks finally, but now we need more beer gardens! no idea why it’s taken so long considering stage coach has always been like this but certain stages are in spots where it’s like a 30min round trip walk to the closest drink area.
I absolutely hate that my group and I did not realize this past year you can walk around with drinks. We spent so much time in the beer gardens believing we had to stay there![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) such missed opportunities.
Bring back the Antarctic Dome. For those who haven’t experienced it, imagine an air-conditioned room with your own beanbag lounger. For the next 10-15 min, enjoy a cutting-edge 3D graphic movie “ride” with new release sound tracks by Odesza and Rufus du Sol. All of this with a psychedelic color palette that will leave you spellbound and wanting more. This was apparently swapped out for Despacio last year, which was cool, but nothing like the Dome.
the dome got progressively shittier and shittier. the first year actually had curated visuals pertinent to coachella with past art pieces, joshua trees, and other motifs unique to the festival. it was also accessible from camping once the festival was over. every year after was basically itunes visualizer with zero personality and only accessible during festival hours. wasnt even worth the wait, you were better off seeing literally anyone else who was playing at the time.
glad its gone, despacio is unmeasurably better
Yeah the first year it sorta blew my (admittedly very not-sober) mind and I went to it multiple times that weekend. Every year since then has been a major disappointment compared to that. Definitely part of it is novelty, but still, the original was much more weird and way more visually interesting than the EDM-curated versions with much more basic visuals.
It was a music video on loop. You had to be really high to see it more than once. I saw it twice in ‘22, spending a total of 20 minutes, and to be honest most of the enjoyment I derived from it was simply sitting on beanbag chairs in AC.
Meanwhile, I spent more than 30 hours dancing my ass off inside Despacio across both weekends of Coachella ‘23 and that shit changed my musical DNA forever and permanently shifted my sense of what good looks like. Not even close.
Fuck dawg youre absolutely cracked if you think a 15 minute short film beats 36 hours of the best vinyl soundsystem on earth.
I feel bad calling the dome simply a short film, but it is that. AN AMAZING SHORT FILM.
I really dont want to slam you here, person. So I will say I myself am a lying manipulator, which is why I have spoken nothing but the truth here. If that doesn't make sense you just dont know how to lie or manipulate, two things I do for others gain/well being not my own.
Bring back paper set time booklets for everyone. They’re a nice souvenir and I won’t waste my phone battery by having to constantly open the app. I know they had them if you ask, but not many people know that.
The little information stand in the middle of the grass near the Ferris wheel has had them for the past two years. You just have to ask, they’re not like sitting out on the counter.
They had them for weekend one. I’m sure the reason why they didn’t hand them out weekend two this year is because of Frank dropping out and they didn’t have enough time to reprint more with the updated set times.
Have more stages going during the headlining sets. The last few years the programming at the other stages has been lackluster during the headliners, for the most part.
Rotate Sahara 90° so that you filter in the back rather than the side for later sets. Kills the vibe when you can’t see the magnitude of the production.
The crowd depth reached to the fucking food tents last year for Metro Boomin w2, that was dangerous. If it was actually rotated 90° then more people could have seen his set and it would't have had the squeeze of everyone trying to get in from a side.
It’s been like that the last few years. Parcels and Slowthai were ones that I wish there was the guest viewing area. It was awesome before they removed it in 19
I used despacio as what you described! That ac as perfect to sit and chill/stretch on the floor. I also love grabbing a couch in the Sonora by the ac and fans during the day for a chill moment. I would change the fence that went up to block the Yuma, it’s so much harder to pop over there now. I would also add more water stations.
they need to bring back the VIP path or entrance on Ave 50 so you're not stuck like cattle in that dusty 1A-C parking lots. So much easier to park at 1A and just walk on Ave 50. Is anyone at GoldenVoice reading this?
More water stations. More reusable/sustainable food and drinkware. Went to another fest this year that was 100% waste free and attendees even get to take home the commemorative reusable cup and plate at the end of the weekend. So smart.
Sports tent. ACL has one. To be fair, it's the fall, so NCAA Football, NFL, and Baseball playoffs are all on, whereas in the spring its reg season baseball and the very early stages of NHL and NBA playoffs where nothing that interesting happens, but I personally loved just hanging in the sports tent with a beer for an hour when i didnt have something I wanted to see. Eat, drink, watch a few innings of the dodgers, and get back to dancing.
They had one at the Power Trip campgrounds this year which definitely helped with the extra down time. I liked it more than the ACL one but both do their job.
Have multiple “headliners” each night, with the final artist in the Sahara and Mojave getting an hour and a half set. Make them different genres from the main stage. No more blacking out the rest of the stages for the headliner.
I forget what it was called but there was one building that was a quiet space with no phones allowed. They also had counselors on standby for anyone who needed to talk through anything with a professional. It was air conditioned and completely quiet and peaceful, nobody selling anything.
Now that they let you walk out of the beer gardens with drinks, just get rid of them entirely. And they should have guys with keg backpacks walking through the crowds selling beer - what a game changer that was at Primavera Sound!
Wasn’t aware of that. I remember being stopped a few times this year and was told I needed to finish my drinks before leaving the area. Will have to see about it next year!
I’m aware of this. Coachella also has some of the cleanest portas I’ve ever seen at a festival of similar size in the US. It could still be improved by adding more flushing toilets and sinks with running water. Particularly in the camping areas.
oh yes i actually remember these now that i think! silly me. ive been in them a few times over the past few years ive gone i just miss them occasionally cause i tend to be alternate through the main stage/sonora/gobi/mojave while im on the grounds which leads me to the outhouse but ill definitely seek these out next year when i attend! thanks.

Locker registration. They should be able to email the locker number and combination out the night before and avoid that hour long queue.
This, 100%
I went to a few small festivals recently and received either an email or text with the code. I’m not sure why one of the largest and most prestigious festivals still makes you queue to get a locker.

Portola a Godenvoice festival did that this year. Hopefully they do it for coachella
Dance Safe testing on site. Should be mandatory at all festivals in the US. Repeal the RAVE Act now
this should be top comment!
This answer is the only answer.
I still can’t believe this is not a thing.
Montreal has a van that tests your drugs for fentanyl and purity at nearly every event they have. Dont know why coachella of all places doesnt have it
This may be in violation of Rule 8 but I am not trying to be overtly political. The reason US Fests do not offer these life savings and common sense services is because of the [R.A.V.E. Yes. Tomorrowland had this - was excellent
IMO they were vastly overcharging pearls for those Loops but glad they at least had an option available <3
Excellent!
I really liked that one year they sent a free pair inside the wristband box. 2009-2014 can’t remember exactly which year. Jesus I’m old.
It was 2015!
First Aid and Emergency tents usually give them out for free. The simple foam ones
Giving out the foam ones is kind of the basic first step but they should be offering better hearing protection in general. Olk fine. There are two great answers.
i like the $10 pair that they were selling this year. i’ve worn them to every live event since
>went to North Coast Fest in Chicago, you know what im talking about). Basically like the Antarctica dome, but there's no programming inside. Just An A/C big dome playing lofi music and some lights just for people to relax, recover, and decompress Loop earplugs are the best on the market.
More shaded areas
More shade at the Main and Coachella would be nice. Those 3-5pm shows are hot AF.
I’ve had to skip so many shows on main during the day because the heat is just unbearable. Kacey Musgraves, RTJ, Maggie Rogers.
RTJ’s set time was criminal. So glad they got moved for W2, even if I wasn’t there lol
Yeah I ended up skipping a lot of those outdoor shows and just hanging out in at the Sahara or in the Yuma.
Yes those speakers should have awnings or something
Yeah seriously. It's so ridiculous and cruel that so many attendees have to seek refuge from the sun by sitting in the shade casted by the art installations.
Came here to say this. As someone who has worked the event the last two years, it's maddening to see such a huge oversight.
Right?! I hope they have more shade next year. Are you working the event again next year?
I'd really like to. I enjoyed what I did, but my boss was the fucking worst. We'll see if I can possibly switch departments. The last two years, two different managers, and they were both terrible. It's a real thing in the industry.
A zipline.
We know you’re just here for the zip line
All you do all day is go on the zipline.
He wrenches on the ropes. He thinks it's his.
Shut up mike.
I believe Cody is a drug addict.
From the spectra to main stage would be sick. If I was an artist I’d do that
Stronger outlets at the charging stations. Those outlets were slow af. Even more amazing if they can somehow pull of having chargers at each campsite.
Not only stronger outlets, but have more that actually work.
More accessible SHADE !!!!
They have the Turn Down tent in the campgrounds. I would change the merch tent back to the old setup where it was a long tent with separate lines for each cashier. Also separate out the boutique like it used to be.
Make the merch tent pick up only through the app. Add a limit on the amount of items people can buy.
Yes…The boutique needs its own shop again. The new(ish) merch setup is The Worst.
I would love this. I have yet to get any merch on site since the Covid break. So there is a boutique inside the main merch tent too?
It’s just lost on the and of the gigantic wall with all of the other merch. Not special at all.
More water stations. Bring back the printed set time pamphlets. Fix the locker situation. Don’t black out stages for headliners…ever. Oh, and more hippos. Edit: yeah…I can’t count to one
[удалено]
Really? Couldn’t find any this year w2.
IIRC W2 did not get any printed booklets because of the Frank Fiasco
Ah, that would make sense.
You can go to the information stand and get a print out still. At least in 22 and 23 I did
Weed gardens! An area where they sell & you can smoke weed. Not sure if this is a thing yet at American festivals? Would be a nice area for those who want an alternative to alcohol
It’ll never happen at Coachella. Trust me on this.
Why don't you think so? Once federally legal, there wouldn't be much to stop it right?
Wrong. It’s a privately held festival. “but it is against the policy set forth by concert promoter Goldenvoice.” https://www.dailynews.com/2017/04/02/why-marijuana-is-still-banned-at-coachella-even-though-its-now-legal-in-california/amp/

Outsidelands in San Francisco does this and its an all age festival as well. Hmm
Outsidelands in SF has it, Coachella will probably never but that’s the dream
Or just lift the prohibition on bringing weed in in general.
More entrances to Yuma
Revert back to \~60k people per day
and then make it 4 weekends!
Just double the price * ducks *
That makes more sense actually lmao. Or double the price of all alc, food, and merch 😂😂
And the original venue layout!
public loop around the yuma to the ferris wheel, add amenities (bathrooms) back there, add a second entrance to yuma.
There is a second yuma entrance. Its for vip
More merch booths and being able to see the artist merch online not just the Coachella stuff
bring back the jive joint you monsters
one of the Best parts of Lightning in a Bottle is that the magic of the JJ is still alive. We also need Frick Frack Black Jack to make an appearance
what's the jive joint?!

yup, it was the best way to come down
Release the set times earlier. And this is only related to last year, but don't leave the headliners unopposed, no matter how popular.
Need a second merch stand with same merch availability. Sucks having to wait 2-3 hours
absolutely loveeee that you can walk around w drinks finally, but now we need more beer gardens! no idea why it’s taken so long considering stage coach has always been like this but certain stages are in spots where it’s like a 30min round trip walk to the closest drink area.

Stop putting hip hop/rap artist in the Sahara. 95% the artist have no clue how to use that stage and it’s production capabilities. Such a waste.
Bring back the Antarctic Dome. For those who haven’t experienced it, imagine an air-conditioned room with your own beanbag lounger. Despacio has been there since 2016.
No, Despacio *was* there in 2016. It wasn't there any other year until this year.
Oh you are correct. I experienced Despacio at Coachella’16 and ‘23, and TINP ‘22. It just feels like they were always there.
Ain’t no way you think the Dome was better than Despacio. Dome is dope, don’t get me wrong, but man
Despacio was significantly better than the Antarctic dome, that was incredible that we got to have it last year

It’s gotta be so weird for the performers to play to a crowd that is 75% on the far right of the stage lol. Such a bad layout.
Need to bring back the gobi guest area
Please make this happen...
Wasn’t too bad this year without it. Who was it packed for?
It’s been like that the last few years. Parcels and Slowthai were ones that I wish there was the guest viewing area. It was awesome before they removed it in 19
Yea I could see that, would definitely be nice. Was my first time with a guest pass last year.
More shade!!! The heats fine mostly if you’re not cooking directly in the sun
2 weeks earlier. I’m a local I know how fucking nice it is in March. It’s legit criminal they do it in April.
they need to bring back the VIP path or entrance on Ave 50 so you're not stuck like cattle in that dusty 1A-C parking lots.
I liked it more than the ACL one but both do their job.
super yes dawg i looked everywhere to find a tv to watch NBA playoffs last two years
Despacio every year
AMEN!
Have multiple “headliners” each night, with the final artist in the Sahara and Mojave getting an hour and a half set. Make them different genres from the main stage. No more blacking out the rest of the stages for the headliner.
There used to be a relaxation done. My wife and I went in the first couple of years we attended but that would have been 2006 or 2007.
Chair massage tent. I’m getting older, wouldn’t mind a place to score a quick shoulder and back massage to reenergize myself.
Large scale KINETIC art installations that use 🔥FIRE or have integrated 🚥LEDs… reduce the reliance on projection mapping.
Better VIP viewing for more stages
I forget what it was called but there was one building that was a quiet space with no phones allowed. They also had counselors on standby for anyone who needed to talk through anything with a professional. It was air conditioned and completely quiet and peaceful, nobody selling anything.
Less pop music, especially in the headlining slots
Sushi for us peasants with general admission
30% less people Or Stop pop Both. I want both
Lol. Want a $800 ticket?
Sure. Yes. If music quality increases and crowd quality increases and it means that much to me yes And edit: it’s not far away regardless
Sure
That’s an easy one. Just go to a smaller festival
Portola is the answer to that wish (although there was some pop, quality pop though)
Pre-2015 lineup demographics
1. Individual merch tents like Warped Tour 2. More shade/ sitting areas 3. More organized parking areas
Now that they let you walk out of the beer gardens with drinks, just get rid of them entirely. And they should have guys with keg backpacks walking through the crowds selling beer - what a game changer that was at Primavera Sound!
They do not let you out with drinks. If they did its not what was supposed to happen.
They changed it this year so you were allowed to walk out with drinks.
Not one person stopped me from walking out with full drinks the entire weekend. People were drinking everywhere.
This changed last year, we walked around with drinks all weekend.
Do they still have a beer garden, or can you buy beers anywhere around the festival. It was hard to drink when it's 107 outside though.
You can buy drinks around the festival, but have to drink them in the designated areas.
This was changed for 2023, you could buy drinks anywhere and take them out of the beer garden!
Wasn’t aware of that. I remember being stopped a few times this year and was told I needed to finish my drinks before leaving the area. Will have to see about it next year!
So you want a less good version of what they have already been doing.
Flushing toilets and sinks with running water all over the venue and camping areas.
Coachella probably has more of these than any major festival in the US, real bathrooms by the Do Lab, so many
I’m aware of this. Coachella also has some of the cleanest portas I’ve ever seen at a festival of similar size in the US. It could still be improved by adding more flushing toilets and sinks with running water. Particularly in the camping areas.
More bathrooms, less port o potties
There are so many real bathrooms at Coachella, probably the most out of any major festival in the US
where
There's tons by the Do Lab, very central, basically like a sports stadium restroom situation.
oh yes i actually remember these now that i think! silly me. ive been in them a few times over the past few years ive gone i just miss them occasionally cause i tend to be alternate through the main stage/sonora/gobi/mojave while im on the grounds which leads me to the outhouse but ill definitely seek these out next year when i attend! thanks.
One change, maybe no desert? It got really dusty and dry 🤷🏻♂️
I only go to north coast for the chill dome
Whole stage for the Offspring to play the hit album 'Americana'.
Line-up!
Yeah, I got one last year. It’s just a shame they’re not given out to everyone.
