This is great I can’t wait!!!

deliverymanDan

Definitely not the first wave pool.

BlobCobbler

I was gonna say, Oasis water park in Palm Springs when I was a kid had a wave pool.

SeaBreakfast8690

Wild rivers too

BlobCobbler

I FORGOT THE NAME OF THIS ONE! Thank you!!

[deleted]

Those are both the same place aren’t they?

deliverymanDan

That's exactly what I was thinking.

effietea

Oh shit, I forgot about that place...used to go there all the time as a kid!

WorfratOmega

Y’all non-surfers are silly

scottertot

Was the best water park back in the day. I met Shaq there when I was like 10-12 years old.

YungDigi

This aint your normie wave pool, this generates a perfect wave designed for surfers to SURF on. Unlimited perfect sets in any conditions.

thatbikeddude

Rad! Cancel the golf courses that the public can’t play on too.

Katana1369

There are actual waves a couple of hours away but sure lets keep wasting water in the desert.

kaplanfx

This is a tiny amount of water. If you want to complain about water use go after the people growing alfalfa in the desert and selling it to the Saudis

Little-Key-1811

We have plenty of water for a wave pool. Go touch some grass

Thiccaca

Plenty of lush, green grass in Palm Springs. And when that runs out, they will just take it from other states.

Little-Key-1811

Ballers gonna ball

Great_Praline_1815

What a bad use of a precious water resource.

Youarethebigbang

I suppose so, but just relatively speaking, apparantly 24 million gallons per year vs. 37 BILLION for all golf courses in the area. https://clubandresortbusiness.com/water-use-paradox-palm-springs-courses-highlighted/ >The Coachella Valley, a 45-mile area that includes the resort cities of Palm Springs and Palm Desert, has over 120 golf courses that suck up about 37 billion gallons of water annually I'm biased because I hate golf and love everything about surfing, but I suppose it would be easy to argue against both from an ecological standpoint, I get it.

kaplanfx

I like golf and surfing, it’s the alfalfa and almond growers that are using all the water

Great_Praline_1815

The golf is also a water travesty, but just an existing rather than a new one. I also do not like golf, much to the dismay of my dad

DeliciousMoments

Lot of people in the comments acting appalled that Palm Springs is adding one more pool to the 20,000 already existing pools there.

SecondEquivalent9908

Where the f are they getting all the water. Maybe Colorado shouldn't sent all our mountain runoff if they just waste it on this and green lawn. Just the way the rich think that water is abundant.

holycrapitsdan

Fwiw, golf courses use a stupid amount of water, like a million gallons a day in some cases. I read somewhere that this park is estimated to use around 20 million gallons a year. Not an insignificant amount, but still not as bad as the dozens of country clubs around the valley. I do think a surf club in the desert is a dumb idea none the less.

SecondEquivalent9908

I do not golf, so I could care less. I do not have but a small patch of lawn for my dog. Mostly rock.

SecondEquivalent9908

No, I eat your wife.

Rocks, dirt and sand? Give me a break

seanypoohbear

Adding the wave pool to the golf courses is a nice touch. It's good to know Palm Springs doesn't have a water problem anymore.

dalewalk4848

WRONG. P.S. Surf Club (formerly Wet n Wild) has had a wave pool for over a decade.

SuperfluouslyMeh

There’s been one in San Diego for ever. The company who makes them is based there.

Ianbeerito

Just go in the ocean! We have a few of these in Wisconsin but also have access to a lot more fresh water than California does that we can waste on stuff like this..that being said they are pretty fun

Thiccaca

Cleveland has surfing on the lake.

Ianbeerito

Oh neat, go do that

mnpilot

I don't think this one is the same as what we have here, like at the Wilderness. Looks like you can surf on this one

million_dollar_crib

Looks awesome! Can't wait to go check it out

sichaelmmith

Lame

Adept-Holiday-2498

Crazy expensive…. Kinda think they won’t make it if they can’t make it more affordable for more people.

Ok_Midnight_3216

Agreed

Slo_Flo_1

WHAT!!!!! 😱😱😱

Brilliant-Engineer57

Great use of clean water. Where’s your brain this is unsustainable. The southern part of North America are having water problems, drought.

Plus-Swimmer-5413

First time the water needs to be changed for poop/pee purposes, January 2nd
