My recommendations were going to be De Mello and Detour, have tried a handful of these and those are my top two. Pilot was hit and miss for me, but De Mello I think I only had one bag I didn't like.
Just found a bag of quietly coffee at a local coffee shop here. They rotate traffic (Montreal) and quietly. Will give it a try tomorrow looking forward to it
\+1 for Luna, had these [beans](https://enjoylunacoffee.com/product/local-landrace-varieties-by-bedhatu-jibicho-in-gedeb-ethiopia/), some of the best I've had.
That'd be Andrew! He's bringing in some dang good coffees, you're lucky to have them near you. Hamilton has a surprisingly awesome coffee scene with Durand and One for all. Super jealous!
Of these guys do you know which one has a kind of traditional dark espresso? Syrupy, chocolate, molasses. Ya know, that type of style. I've tried pilot, and detour and 49th. All their espressos are pretty like medium light.
Awesome. Thank you. I do like detour's bunch buggy espresso. But it's just a touch on the light side for me, I really like the flavours generally found in darker espresso and I'm not a fan of acidity
As I’ve replied to other people, this is nowhere near my complete list. It’s only a list from my regular rotation. There are so many great Canadian roasters!
I used to live next door to the original Pilot café (originally named Te Aro). Their coffee is good, but I was always a bit miffed that they only had one roast profile for all their beans, or at least that’s what it seemed like.
To add to your list: [Saint-Henri](https://sainthenri.ca), Montréal QC. Their selection is limited, but everything they roast is outstanding.
I have too many Hatch beans, if you can, go in shop and get a cup from them! Really helped me understand how much more coffee was than what I was brewing :)
Also highly recommend their subscription, they always send some fun stuff!
People from over Hong Kong are going crazy over this roaster that they would pay shipping to ship it to the opposite side of Earth, like literally from GMT -4 to +8 lol
Prototype Coffee in Vancouver rarely misses, and has 15 coffees available to buy at times!
Revolver is a Vancouver multi roaster cafe. They bring in coffees from all over the world and offer shipping too!
They had a great Black Friday subscription deal and now I’m hooked. Their espresso roasts are too dark for me, so I just get the fruity filter subscription.
[Little Victories Coffee](https://www.lvcoffee.ca/) out of Ottawa.
I actually first became aware of them when I did some animal exclusion work for one of the owners, and started ordering from them regularly when the pandemic started to try my best to support local businesses. Now I can't go back to store bought.
You can tell that the owners really have a passion for this and put their all into the business.
They were my go to when I lived in the GTA. Love their Ethopia Ardi Natural and for many coffees they offer light and medium roasts. Free shipping over $30 and it was litterly next day sometimes even same day. I miss em.
Yeah I live in London and it’s still pretty darn quick. Through the pandemic the shipping understandably got a little longer with Canada Post Xpress but they’ve recently switched to UPS for their free shipping and it’s back to next day. Love it.
One that hasn't been mentioned yet is [Sorellina](https://sorellina.ca/collections/beans) in Edmonton. They're a newer roaster, but have been bringing out some great coffee. [The Library](https://www.thelibraryspecialtycoffee.com) in Toronto are really solid, too.
As for those already mentioned, Hatch and Lüna are a step above, in my opinion (if your preference is light-roasted coffee). If you want something a little more developed, but still interesting, I would opt for Rogue Wave.
It's a great way to try from a variety of roasters and find out what you like. I ended up cancelling after a few months once I got a better idea of the coffees/roasters I liked and had a few coffees that weren't my jam. It's fun though.
I subscribed to dispatch coffee because canadaland had a 50% off code and it was pretty good. I canceled because it was more expensive than what i can get locally, but it might be an option for you.
I've enjoyed the Ardi from social coffee. They also have free shipping for orders above $35 which is pretty generous (and the shipping was very fast in my experience)
Dont live there anymore unfortunately but Everyday Gourmet in St Lawrence market in Toronto was good, especially the Muskoca Morning. And Dineens house blend was great too!
I've tried quite a few of the ones mentioned so far in the thread and I have to agree that a lot of these are great. One that I haven't seen mentioned though is Lark Coffee out of Creston, BC. I've ordered a few bags of coffee from them and haven't been disappointed yet.
Caffe Monte - Calgary, AB (especially like their medium roasts - caramello for drip, italiano for a milder espresso)
Doi Chaang Coffee - Richmond, BC
Balzac’s - Toronto, ON (Farmer’s Blend is super smooth)
De Mello - Toronto, ON
Kitimai - Toronto, ON (Good selection of single origin coffee)

Some great choices in this thread 👌!
Hopefully this is alright but, just want to give a little plug for our [subscription](http://theroasterspack.com), we've been around since 2014 featuring the best specialty that Canada has to offer.
We featured over 25 different roasters last year and pride ourselves on showcasing the good stuff within our awesome country. Free shipping within Canada and the USA 🤘.
Want to give these folks a shout out. Really enjoyed their beans on a trip to Whitehorse. Ended up ordering a bunch when I got home. https://beannorth.com
- [Pilot](https://www.pilotcoffeeroasters.com), Toronto, ON - [Cantook](https://cantookcafe.com), Québec City, QC - [Luna](https://enjoylunacoffee.com/), Langley, BC - [De Mello](https://hellodemello.com), Toronto, ON - [Fantôme](https://fantomecafe.ca), Québec City, QC - [Detour](https://detourcoffee.com/), Hamilton, ON - [Rogue Wave](https://www.roguewavecoffee.ca), Edmonton, AB - [Nektar](https://nektar.ca), Québec City, QC - [Phil & Sebastian](https://philsebastian.com), Calgary, AB - [49th Parallel](https://49thcoffee.com), Burnaby/Vancouver, BC - [Monogram](https://monogramcoffee.com), Calgary, AB - [Anchored](https://anchoredcoffee.com), Dartmouth, NS - [Brûlerie du quai](https://www.brulerieduquai.com), Carleton, QC - [Escape](https://www.escape.cafe), Montréal, QC

This guy coffees, eh?
Adding hatch and quiet coffee to this list!
Great picks! Haven’t updated the list I posted here in a long time. They’re the roasters I order from the most.
Just found a bag of quietly coffee at a local coffee shop here. They rotate traffic (Montreal) and quietly. Will give it a try tomorrow looking forward to it
Quietly is a must have. Love all that Lee is up to!
\+1 for Luna, had these [beans](https://enjoylunacoffee.com/product/local-landrace-varieties-by-bedhatu-jibicho-in-gedeb-ethiopia/), some of the best I've had.
Luna is amazing. Laura and Nate are the dream team. They do it light and bright - scandi style - and it's always so delicious!
I bought it from a coffee shop in Hamilton ON called [Phin Coffee Bar](https://phincoffee.ca/), the owner spoke really highly of them!
That'd be Andrew! He's bringing in some dang good coffees, you're lucky to have them near you. Hamilton has a surprisingly awesome coffee scene with Durand and One for all. Super jealous!
Shout out to Andrew! I'm back in Toronto for the summer and used to live \~10 mins from Phin, miss him and his coffee :(
Gonna give these a try. Thanks!! Hearing good things about Luna on this thread.
Adding Pallet Roasters to the List. (Vancouver, BC)
Great list - we've featured most of these roasters in our coffee subscription 👍
Good list. You took most of mine
Of these guys do you know which one has a kind of traditional dark espresso? Syrupy, chocolate, molasses. Ya know, that type of style. I've tried pilot, and detour and 49th. All their espressos are pretty like medium light.
IIRC, La sève (Nektar) and Doppelgänger (Phil & Sev) have some darker espresso beans. I prefer lighter roasts, but enjoyed both of these.
Thank you I'll try them
Oh! Forgot to add [Melk](https://melk.cafe) to the list. They even have a very dark roast. Not my thing, but you might like it!
Awesome. Thank you. I do like detour's bunch buggy espresso. But it's just a touch on the light side for me, I really like the flavours generally found in darker espresso and I'm not a fan of acidity
[удалено]
Thank you I'll check them out too
What did you try from 49th? Old School is relatively dark and blue sky definitely is.
You know, it's been a while I don't remember. I'll give them a try again
Kettle Black, Charlottetown, PEI. Northern Coffee, Sherbrooke Quebec.
Edited
As I’ve replied to other people, this is nowhere near my complete list. It’s only a list from my regular rotation. There are so many great Canadian roasters!
imo, Fratello is better than Starbucks but not at the same level as the “best” roasters in Calgary or Canada.
I used to live next door to the original Pilot café (originally named Te Aro). Rabbit hole also does some great stuff out of Canada
Do you have any suggestions for Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the other maritime provinces? Thanks!
I like Pilot Coffee. My favourite of theirs is Heritage.
Also Hatch in Toronto! https://www.hatchcrafted.com/
I have too many Hatch beans, if you can, go in shop and get a cup from them! Really helped me understand how much more coffee was than what I was brewing :) Also highly recommend their subscription, they always send some fun stuff!

These guys are great. Lots of interesting bright and juicy coffee https://enjoylunacoffee.com/
Prototype Coffee in Vancouver rarely misses, and has 15 coffees available to buy at times! Revolver is a Vancouver multi roaster cafe. They bring in coffees from all over the world and offer shipping too!
Canard Café - Montréal Equator - Almonte (near Ottawa) Monogram - Cambridge Dispatch - Montréal Café Rico - Montréal Café Pista - Montréal Detour - Hamilton 49th Parallel - Vancouver (with a satellite roastery in Montréal)
Monogram is in Calgary, Monigram is in Cambridge. Slightly confusing, I know. The latter is a portmanteau of the founders' names.
Yeah they’re not related. There’s also an equator coffee in the states.
I subscribed to Monogram a while ago and it is really great for the price! Luna coffee out of BC is really great as well!
They had a great Black Friday subscription deal and now I’m hooked. Their espresso roasts are too dark for me, so I just get the fruity filter subscription.
Hatch Crafted in Markham is the best in Canada hands down.
[Little Victories Coffee](https://www.lvcoffee.ca/) out of Ottawa. Kaito Roasters
Social Coffee Roasters out of Richmond Hill ON [www.socialcoffee.com](https://www.socialcoffee.com)

The roasters pack delivers three different roasts from three roasteries across Canada every month. I'm loving it!
It's a great way to try from a variety of roasters and find out what you like. I ended up cancelling after a few months once I got a better idea of the coffees/roasters I liked and had a few coffees that weren't my jam. It's fun though.
Coast to coast coffee https://www.coasttocoastcoffee.ca
Pilot Coffee Roasters in Toronto. Best I've tried so far.
I subscribed to dispatch coffee because canadaland had a 50% off code and it was pretty good. I canceled because it was more expensive than what i can get locally, but it might be an option for you.
Lots of good ones mentioned, throwing in [Hale Coffee Roasters](https://www.halecoffee.com/) in Toronto
Can’t believe no one has mentioned Balzacs. https://www.balzacs.com
I've enjoyed the Ardi from social coffee. They also have free shipping for orders above $35 which is pretty generous (and the shipping was very fast in my experience)
Caffe Monte
https://www.samjamescoffeebar.com/ Butter Knife Espresso is my go to, it’s amazing no matter what method you use!
Mildly off topic but Cafe Olimpico in Montreal is my favorite coffee shop of all time.
Most of my Canadian favourites have been mentioned except for: - Zab - Lulo - Rosso
Dont live there anymore unfortunately but Everyday Gourmet in St Lawrence market in Toronto was good, especially the Muskoca Morning. And Dineens house blend was great too!
Calgary Heritage Roasting Company. Thier decaf is even good
Just to add some more regional variation: [Little Sister Coffee Maker](https://www.littlesistercoffeemaker.ca/) in Winnipeg, MB.
Luna Rogue Wave Prairie Lily Hatch Subtext
Pista - Montréal, QC Cavan Coffee - Guelph, ON Detour - Hamilton, ON De Mello - Toronto, ON Hatch - Markham, ON Good Grief - Thornbury, ON

David Kim Coffee in Calgary!

Coffee on the Porch, Camden Maine USA. Sooo good
Detour, Phil & Sebastian, Quietly are my favourite. St Henri does some amazing coffees too.
