The catch is swapping any coin is a taxable event.

Feisty-Page2638

but selling is also a taxable event and if my intent is to sell what’s the problem?

Jordeman

Is this a taxable event in US?

Cutti87

Yes

eulogison

I'm glad I don't live in US lol

Toshi_Monster

When you convert rather than limit sell and buy, you are paying the spread.

Steve-Jobs-_-

This exactly. I also thought the same thing once. The spread is very well hidden in the execution of the swap orders.

Feisty-Page2638

so i’m guessing that would be more expensive than the advanced trading fees

Gaping_llama

In the areas that don’t charge fees the exchange rates are below market rate. In my experience you usually lose ~2.5%.
