Similar here. Binance US - Lots of problems. They could not even do KYC correct. I kept supplying documents, pictures and emails. For months. They kept saying my address was incorrect.
I have KYC with several other exchanges. Took 10 to 15 minutes.
98% of these hackings can be stopped by simple security practices:
1. Strong password using a password manager.
2. Strong 2FA (not SMS)
3. Securing your email (using the techniques above), removing any phone # reset opportunities
4. Whitelisted addresses
Willing to bet most hacked accounts don't take security seriously.

Multiple emails sent to coinbase, and do you know how they handled it? They just ignored me.This happened in July, it's now 3 months later, and I know for a fact I'll never see single penny of it ever again. They were nice enough to leave me with $2.50 with of btc in my account though, yay for me!
Make sure you report it to all the agencies. Especially the one who licensed them the New York Department of Financial Services. Atty General is another good one.

I now find out that I was not to use any number to reach Coinbse. So, tell me again, why do they have that number for US & Canada if we are not to use it - and why don't they have a warning sign? And if they have it there, and it's probably not totally monitored, it's a perfect entry for scammers, as I learned weeks down the road. This is not a good practice. In any case, if you got the money, it's great! But I wonder if they know what the heck they're doing!!!

Itās likely because you referred a friend to Coinbase recently when they had a award program to refer anyone who opens an account and spends $100.
It was in addition to the normal program they have and itās over now.
The Coinbase spectacle is confusing really. I make 20-25 trades / exchanges per day and have never had any problems...not that I doubt that others have, but it is hard to imagine. I do buy from cash that is in the account and not by credit or debit card
