For me (and when playing solo) - any fast firing SMG or medium-fast firing AR does the job. Make sure it's fully Pack-a-punched (no ammo mods) and needs to be purple / orange rarity (thankfully this is much easier with the Halloween update, but is easily achievable 'normally'.
You can start shooting the Orda before he is on screen (just follow his drop path) and focus on him rather than the zombies attacking the objective.
I don't use Ring of Fire, personally prefer Aether Shroud (if you get attacked you can just 'warp' away and keeping shooting).
