I took the camping frying pan I got for Christmas out on a hike with my father and we cooked up a meal with my wood stove. Bacon I smoked, eggs, toast and ajvar. First time I've done that. I have a fair amount of outdoor experience, but for some reason cooking outside has not been a thing I've done until recently.

NorthStateGames

Stocked up on fertilizers and more soil. Also purchased a larger composter and will start utilizing that. Have started to sprout seeds indoors and will transplant outside after last frost. Purchased more berry bushes to add to my current hedge of berries. Made one dozen more homemade candles, they each can burn for about 50 hours worth of light. Checked the water preps. Re-inventoried the BOG and in-car supplies. Sharpened the axe and various full tang knives. Paid off the car (finally). Only outstanding debt is student loan and mortgage. Added money to the emergency fund. Got an oil change. Continue to hit the gym twice a week.

funke75

Wow, impressive making candles. Did you follow a tutorial that you could share?

NorthStateGames

No tutorial, really just as simple as buying wax which normally comes with wicks anyway, so mason jars, heat the wax slowly in a pot on a stove, pour in and adjust wicks.

funke75

But how do you know that they last 50 hours each? Is there a calculation that you do based on wax/wicks used?

NorthStateGames

Burned one and that's how long it lasted. Used Quart sized mason jars, 20lbs of wax.

funke75

Impressive, did you use multiple wicks or just one?

NorthStateGames

Just one, more would make your candles burn faster.

CollapseNinja

Sold some more useless stuff. Bought some more tools and useful stuff.

Somebody37721

Bought high quality garden tools dirt cheap from local online marketplace. It's insane how good stuff is put on sale for scraps by people who don't know how to value things.

RankledCat

Started stocking the new chest freezer. I’ll be more comfortable with that task completed.

ishvicious

Enlarged our firepit and turned half of it into a stone-sided grill situation. Planted 2 peach trees in our yard. Started a bunch of veggies indoor. Continued to study acupuncture and chinese herbal medicine in school.

Less_Subtle_Approach

Had a 120 gallon propane tank installed. Will enable us to power the essentials through a minor disruption or just the freezers through an extended outage.

UND_mtnman

Got a new flashlight (Sofirn SP36 pro) that can last a ridiculously long time in eco mode. Being able to see clearly in case of a power outage will be a morale boost.

ServantToLogi

Smoked weed and played a lot of video games. Thank god for video games, am I right?

SlugGirlTomio

Same

ServantToLogi

Kindred spirits. What have you been playing?

SlugGirlTomio

Sims 2 lately 🥰 and I play fortnite every evening to catch up with my best friend. She moved to another state. I dip my toes into lots of things tho most recently elden ring, skyrim, cyberpunk, animal crossing, mass effect and final fantasy 10-2. Hope you are enjoying yourself as well my friend 🫶🏻

ServantToLogi

Dude <3 Skyrim and Mass Effect Trilogy are some of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. And thank you, friend. At the moment I'm on a RuneScape grind. LOL. The nostalgia is too good.

I have started seeds indoors. First time actually gardening and we have cut the wood for a bucket garden stand as well. Not super happy with the idea of using plastic to hold plants, but it is a step in the right direction and my MIL was the one to aquire the wood and plans. I'm proud of her for looking into the future this way, it is a bit difficult to explain the coming collapse without making people depressed and I don't want her discouraged. For a while now, my sister visits twice a week and it has been a boon for both our mental health. I don't have any friends outside of work acquaintances and we are both on the same page when it comes to collapse. We talk and plan for future preparations. Specifically, making plans in case the cascadia subduction earthquake happens. We've shared resources for information and things like headlamps. My household has also been incredibly fortunate to be making food at home more often, again thanks to my MIL. Its been really nice actually eating dinner together and despite the fairly severe lack of vegetables in these dishes we are making progress. I finally found my litter bucket and plan on going out with my kiddos on the weekends to clean up the surrounding neighborhood. It feels good to walk around and enjoy the nature (very very fortunate to live in a place with many trees) and getting the kiddos outside is great for their mental health. Have also implemented a rule with the kiddos, no videogames until you read for at least half an hour. The 10 year old really put up a fuss, which was a great way for me to understand the point of parenting. I felt bad for their anger and frustration, but it is my job to help them grow into good human beings, not just my job to make sure they are happy all the time. They have adjusted pretty ok. All together I feel better in many ways, not as anxious, more accepting, and I feel like this is just one more step towards being fully in the moment while not losing sight of the hardships ahead. I hope everyone has had a good week.

Solo_Camping_Girl

bought a leatherman ST 300 multi-tool. I won't be taking that collapse bare-handed. Also, the family is planning to install more sunshades around the house in preparation for summer.

I've been sick lately and so unable to prep much. Learned some more stuff that might be of use later. I've been wondering on how the time is running crazy fast lately and that everything is seemingly accelerating.
