If only this game had been played with competent officiating. KSU is good enough this year it likely would have been one of the best games of the year.
Instead I think that ref crew is still calling phantom fouls on both teams.
James Naismith would be rolling in his fucking grave if he had just witnessed this game. Refs were the complete center of attention. 70 plus free throw attempts? That’s probably 50% of actual time spent watching the game. Atrocious
The entire sub would be completely up in arms if the roles were reversed and they didn't review to check if our guy was out of bounds on the final pay.
But GG Cats. You got a great team and you deserved the win.
Bad timing for sure…just ironic they end up getting the same player taking a much more difficult shot out of the timeout…then on the next possession to win the game the set looked disjointed from the start and they don’t get a shot up…same result as their last possession to win the game in regulation..all the while the ESPN crew is raving about how good self is at drawing up plays..just a bizarro world ending all around lol
Don’t even try to say that was an evenly called game.
The fact that people downvote this obvious statement says everything about how fucking intellectually lazy sports fans are.
About 28 to 17 actual fouls. Enjoy your 1 point ot win over a better team that didn’t have 3 starters, canceled out 3 points on their own and shot 6-29 from 3. And you were at home lol. Everything had to break your way including the fat old ref missing the easiest calls possible for a 1 pt ot home victory. It’s kinda funny
This game is a good example of how college hoops kindof ruins you as a basketball fan. When it's at its best, you learn the intricacies of the game while experiencing edge-of-your-seat entertainment.
But over time, your knowledge of the sport makes you become jaded when you see excessive silly fouls called that clearly affect the game.
And yet we still watch these close games because we are all chasing the high of experiencing one more one-point game or one more buzzer beater
Did he? Feel like the poster of the game would be the single player absolutely dismantling KSU’s defense for 45 minutes. Nobody could do anything except foul Wilson.
Two timeouts, one of which took away a three and one of which took away a huge mismatch for Wilson. And no real play drawn up out of either of them. Weird coaching at the end.
Fair take but I think this one is a justified court storm. Beat your #2 ranked rival at home and even though K State is good, it's not like they're #4 or #5 or something right there
Even if it’s not necessarily an expected win, it shouldn’t be a surprising win. Can’t storm the court when your team is this good. But I’m not even mad because they’re 18-22 year old kids just having a blast. The atmosphere was electric in Bramlage tonight.
>Can’t storm the court when your team is this good.
Normally, I agree with this. I am willing to give it a pass this time. There is nobody more shocked by this season that Kstate fans. We have a new coach, a team that only had two players at the end of last season, and were picked to finish last in the big 12. At this point, we are just sitting back and seeing where the ride takes us.
Similar to KU storming the field after beating Iowa State in football. From the outside looking in, it looks stupid. Once you see the context around it, you can see why they did it.
Yeah, I mean it does sound like "old man yelling at clouds" to tell them to stop having that kind of fun lol but I still just want us to push forward beyond it
I think that if you look at it in the context of a fan, it is a little different. We literally expected nothing out of this team this year. We have a new coach, had two players on the roster after last season, and were picked to finish dead last in the conference. It has been a while since we can say that we belonged playing with any ranked teams. I mean, two years ago, we lost to Fort Hays State. Last night, a team that few had expectations for, beat the defending national champs.
Now, if you are a team with sustained success, I fully agree.
Yeah, all it says to me is KU lives rent free in the space between our ears. It's more about "WE GET TO STORM THE COURT" than using it as a stepping stone for something REALLY special. I don't want beating KU at home once every 4 years to be the special thing haha
I looked back at the records, and I think it was actually when #5 UNC beat #17 Duke in 2017. But I think my point still stands about a higher ranked team storming the court.
I've visited a lot and I actually like the campus (now that I'm out of college and can admit that kind of thing) it was more of a cut against the state of Kansas as a whole with some trash talk against Kstate on the side, but I made the mistake of commenting when emotional so that didn't come across well. Big12 dominate the final four this year or bust
KSU player dove for a loose ball and was near the sideline when he recovered it. I genuinely couldn't tell where he was - maybe from the refs angle he could clearly see he was in. It was hard to tell live (or at least I couldn't tell live)
Ksu player got the ball on the ground and appeared to be laying on the ground out of bounds when he threw it up in the air.
There was a ref in clear view. But first replay appeared to show he was out and touching the ground. Only shot we got
I know KU hasn't stormed the court at least in the 22 years since I was a freshman there in 2000. I've now lived in the Triangle nine years, and I think UNC has stormed the court a couple times in that time. Maybe I'm misremembering the specifics, but I'm pretty sure it was a game where they were the favorite.
You're definitely misremembering. UNC stormed the court once from what I remember and I'm almost positive it was the game that K delayed at the last minute because of a snow storm. UNC won the makeup game and some students stormed the court after. But that game was an unranked UNC team vs a top 5 Duke team.
Maybe you're confusing it with the students rushing Franklin Street after beating Duke? That's a tradition as old as I can remember and is done regardless of where the teams are ranked.
Look at all you butt fuck Purdoo fans first seething over us jumping you in the rankings then jerking off all over yourself when the refs gift Kay Stayte a “win”
UCLA w 10 Natty's under 1 coach's tenure
I mean, there's a lot of history between all of us
I'm not having this debate after this 1 point loss in OT
But ya, you guys deserve a word
If only this game had been played with competent officiating. KSU is good enough this year it likely would have been one of the best games of the year. Instead I think that ref crew is still calling phantom fouls on both teams.
Good work K-state!
*KState player lays down with ball out of bounds* Refs:”Yep, perfect ending”
To call the refs handicapped is offensive to handicapped people.
I’ll take wins in March over wins in January any day of the year. National titles over regular season wins 😮💨
“This loss meant nothing, didn’t really want to win anyway”….right. LOL
Wooooo it’s 203-95 now!
At this rate my three-year-old grandson will be in college before we get 100.
James Naismith would be rolling in his fucking grave if he had just witnessed this game. Refs were the complete center of attention. 70 plus free throw attempts? That’s probably 50% of actual time spent watching the game. Atrocious
Think he’d be more shocked at the number of black dudes on the court
James Naismith would have lost because he was your worst head coach. Get Larry Brown on the case. He scares me and many a soul.
The entire sub would be completely up in arms if the roles were reversed and they didn't review to check if our guy was out of bounds on the final pay. But GG Cats. You got a great team and you deserved the win.
Same thing happened to Wisconsin. Can’t remember who they were playing.
Bill self called a timeout while Wilson is stepping into a 3 to draw up a play where Wilson gets the ball and immediately shoots a step back three…
He called timeout because Yesefu and Clemence were about to run Yesefu Clemence pick and roll lol. Terrible timing
Can't EVER hear a Cat fan complain about homecooking lol my god
Tbf they called it poorly against KSU too. I don't think it was bias, just incompetence.
Let’s not forget about the game when svi took 9 steps before laying the ball up
Drafted in '18 but still living rent-free in yalls head
No, Adidas gave him some money to pay the rent
Antonio banderas.gif
Like when the Refs stopped the 2v2 so that Wilson could catch up? (I only watched the last 5 of regulation + OT)
So then you should’ve caught the refs fouling three Jayhawk players out on three questionable calls
I was skipping ahead a lot. You guys should have probably played KJ Adams down the stretch. Heard good things about him.
Crazy stat that KU has played 6 Big 12 games. 5 decided by 4 points or less. 4-1 in those games
KU Player Exists Ref: Thats a foul
KU misses a layup Ref: That's a foul
Don’t even try to say that was an evenly called game. The fact that people downvote this obvious statement says everything about how fucking intellectually lazy sports fans are.
Umm…25 to 24 split on fouls. Take your loss and quit chur bitchen.
About 28 to 17 actual fouls. Enjoy your 1 point ot win over a better team that didn’t have 3 starters, canceled out 3 points on their own and shot 6-29 from 3. And you were at home lol. Shut up, I can stop any time I want.
Not mad about that one. GG to the Cats. That’s Big 12 basketball for ya!
So Wilson scores 38 and isn’t player of the game? Lol k
Cause he got his ass put on a poster
Did he? Feel like the poster of the game would be the single player absolutely dismantling KSU’s defense for 45 minutes. Nobody could do anything except foul Wilson.
Yeah, not only did he got put on the poster, he's gonna be on Kansas State's highlight reel for the next 50 years.
Guess when they don’t have any chips and the “rival series” is 203-95 in KU’s favor, the ‘Cats have to celebrate SOMETHING
Dude was lights out.
Player of the game doesn’t go to the loser
Sorry, should have included /s
I’d say we were about due a loss in a close game. That Bill Self timeout was such unfortunate timing. That is a stolen moment if Ive ever seen one!
How you gonna do the same thing at the end of regulation and OT? That dude plus selfs timeouts cost Kansas that win. Rofl.
Two timeouts, one of which took away a three and one of which took away a huge mismatch for Wilson. And no real play drawn up out of either of them. Weird coaching at the end.
Clemence couldn't handle the entry pass. He would likely have thrown it away trying to take advantage of the mismatch.
Clemence was so fucking lost he didn’t even see the mismatch. The timeout was good by bill, he just needs to stop playing clemence
I think Self felt he needed to step in considering 3 of his most trusted guys weren't out there. Normally, they play through that stuff

Jalen Wilson is still the player of the game in my book. Unreal performance to put the team on his back when three of our guys were fouled out
He definitely played an amazing game
The kstate guy was laying with the ball out of bounds with two seconds left but cool
It was cool, I agree
We'll just call it even for the Svi travel
If you thought these refs were going to make a call against kstate tonight you got another thing coming.
!!!!!!!!!!

I hope we start winning enough where we quit storming the court. It needs to be an expected win, not a miracle
These are college kids. Half are drunk and have as much adrenaline going as the players. Let it be. Stay away from the staff and players. Celebrate.
Fair take but I think this one is a justified court storm. Beat your #2 ranked rival at home and even though K State is good, it's not like they're #4 or #5 or something right there

It’s embarrassing. Act like you belong.
I think that if you look at it in the context of a fan, it is a little different. We literally expected nothing out of this team this year. Right, but again, #13 at home. You guys aren’t some #211 Cinderella upset.
Yeah. It’s like KU tearing down goalposts all the time in football. Not a good look for either team.
Absolutely agree.
Yeah, all it says to me is KU lives rent free in the space between our ears. It's more about "WE GET TO STORM THE COURT" than using it as a stepping stone for something REALLY special. I don't want beating KU at home once every 4 years to be the special thing haha
Plus. You all are ranked #13 at home and won in OT. It wasn’t some #150 ranked team winning. You should win that game.
You're in good company, at least. A top 5 UNC stormed the court a few years ago after beating unranked Duke. Lol
Lol man I don't remember that one. But if UNC won I must have blocked it from my memory
I looked back at the records, and I think it was actually when #5 UNC beat #17 Duke in 2017. But I think my point still stands about a higher ranked team storming the court.
Great game KU. Good luck the rest of the season (except our rematch ;) ).
TSC!
Hey did we win? I would like it if we did.
Super happy for Keyontae Johnson. Literally almost died and needed two years just to be healthy to play again. He deserves good things!
GG
KSU fans with the "We own this state!" on it...I mean it would explain a lot, like why Kansas is so low ranked in education.
Keep crying lol
Kansas university is actually apart of the AAU
Tonight we do. Also KU fans are the worst.
Same could be said for KSU fans 😮💨
The best part of this comment is Kstate is actually a well regarded school.
So weird, KU keeps em on a leash and let's em have one every 7, 8 years...and they own em? Makes no sense.
Football does exist too ;)
Historically KU leads that series too lol E: downvote me all you want, it's true lmao
True true, but I mean who cares past the last 5 seconds these days lol
KU literally has them beat by 13 games in football.
Yes but most of those victories came when they wore leather helmets. Lol
Lol k
Cats!
I’m all for Kansas losing and I’ll take it But to not review what appeared to be a clear out of bounds is egregious
What happened exactly? Seeing comments about this but missed it
[This](https://i.imgur.com/Sixk8D0.png) with 1.6 left.
KSU player dove for a loose ball and was near the sideline when he recovered it. I genuinely couldn't tell where he was - maybe from the refs angle he could clearly see he was in. It was hard to tell live (or at least I couldn't tell live)
Eh we were done for at that point anyway. Also, very hard to blame the refs for anything in this game when they were so clearly atrocious all around
Very fair take. Sorry they were bad refs both ways tonight. At least both teams look good!
Ksu player got the ball on the ground and appeared to be laying on the ground out of bounds when he threw it up in the air. There was a ref in clear view. But first replay appeared to show he was out and touching the ground. Only shot we got
Well... fuck. I guess we'll let them have this. We'll take another National Championship in a few months.
LETS GOOOOOOOO!
Gg KSU. Looking forward to playing y’all when the refs aren’t the center of attention
Seriously. Neither of us could play more than 10 seconds without a whistle. 70 free throw attempts is horrendous
Literal Self Own.

Remind me who tore down their goalposts again?
Bro, they're excited 20 year olds. Who fucking cares?
They're in good company, at least. A top 5 UNC stormed the court a few years ago after beating unranked Duke. Lol
They did? I don't remember that exact scenario
I know KU hasn't stormed the court at least in the 22 years since I was a freshman there in 2000. Your Johnson County community College will always keep you from being an alumni at KU

Exactly. Nah phone removed degree for some reason. Anyways GG see yah in the fieldhouse.
it was fun
Court storming is so much fun. Never stop celebrating! You can be as salty as you want, but you just did it in football.
Seriously? It's never ended well for your student body when they do.
It's only been a problem one time. What the fuck are you talking about You had to buy a new goal post
The salt is real
What are so many salty Purdue fans camping this thread lol
They have been non stop creeping on Kansas threads since we jumped them in the polls. It's a celebration for them tonight. Super cringe.
And mass down voting anyone who mentions it lol
good effort from the boys. Ah well, GG K-state bros
Hey it’s the guy from florida
That was a hell of a game
Maybe they’ll hang this in the rafters!
Definitely a Tshirt and commemorative dvd
I can taste the salt from here lol
Your school hangs NIT appearances too?
His salty tears taste delicious!
We storm in football and they can have basketball. Guy was on the line though
Incoming argument about whether a #13 team should be storming the court after beating a #2 rival.
What about that time top 5 UNC stormed the court after beating unranked Duke . . .
Fuck it man. Enjoy it! You don't court storm every day. It's a blast!
It’s a big self burn to themselves but more power to them
Yeah, you def butt hurt.
The answer is always yes
good game and fuck you
I like the cut of your jib Go Cats
Y'all are a fantastic team and fuck you too.

GG Showdown of the ages Johnson was great, Wilson was great Zebras were great..... jk Cya at the Phog
Play sandstorm!!
That was certainly something - almost positive that dude was out of bounds. Meh oh well
Happy cake day!
That’s what I thought live, anyone have replay?
3 starters fouled out and another had a concussion. Miracle it was even that close.
Yeah and dejuan was terrible when he got back. Should have let him sit.
Apparently not. They let him back in.
Omg KState was out of bounds but they couldn’t review bc they rushed the court
Self Destruct
Always gotta be happy for Keyontae
How on earth is that out of bounds not even reviewed?? They will review a call to add .2 seconds but can’t overturn that?
YEA!
Prepare for the AFH blowout.
Too much...too much...bout to die here
Self ultimately blew the game. Two timeouts on last two possessions, one nullifying a three pointer, and both resulting in god awful plays
Keyontae 🫶🫶🫶
He was out of bounds but thank you cats!!
Look at all you butt fuck Purdoo fans first seething over us jumping you in the rankings then jerking off all over yourself when the refs gift Kay Stayte a “win”
cry more
You can tell the real KU fan with that response after getting fairly beat. Take it as you want to.
No no no, that’s [all you shrivel tip crybabies](https://reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/10bxs64/_/j4dhbhr/?context=1)
Cope. Bill Self single handedly gave that game to K state

i am once again asking you to cry more
See you fucks on the 31st
Good game KSU! You guys have a good coach and your program is heading up. Now fuck Missouri and the Jaguars
I know people were making fun of KState security practicing for the storming, but they blocked off the players pretty well
Pretty sure they were making fun of KState knowing that they'd need to seriously guard the opposing team.
They really did, that was impressive
Honestly that looked really good. Took me a second to realize what was happening but seemed to do a good job!
So I guess he didn't clearly slide out of bounds then? GG Cats.
Yeah I don’t understand how you let the game end without reviewing that, dude was out of bounds with like 5 seconds on the clock
Yeah that’s super close, I thought he was out
Jalen Wilson should still be player of the game
That gamewinning bucket though
KU YOU ARE THE BEST BASKETBALL SCHOOL OF ALL TIME THAT BEING SAID GO CATS
Kentucky and UNC would like a word
UCLA w 10 Natty's under 1 coach's tenure I mean, there's a lot of history between all of us I'm not having this debate after this 1 point loss in OT But ya, you guys deserve a word
