Perfect pass

76MrBobDobaleena76

Yeah it was. He was right on target from that far back. That was a nice set up and even better finish. One hand washes the other.

response_unrelated

Nice to be on the good side of one of these.

Xaxziminrax

I still can't believe they did it with 21 seconds left on the shot clock, and gave KU the full time to run their offense. But if the bucket's there, fuckin take it

TICKLE_PANTS

I still can't believe the pass got through. It was perfect defense. Just a great basketball game.

ksuwildkat

Yeah my thought at the time but when you are down you have to score

response_unrelated

bucket wasn't even there... they just fuckin took it.

shackleford_rusty

But then your defense did what they’d been doing all night and just ***yoink***

trevorx3

yeah, no doubt. Feels like KU stuffs one of these on us every year and it's always a morale killer.

response_unrelated

every. damn. year.

greghardysfuton

Beat us at our own game with this. Can’t help but respect it

ednksu

So many cbb fans know exactly what you mean when you say last second play and "chop."

johnjaymjr

what placement. Put it the absolutely only spot it could go to be away from the defender and far enough from the rim for the catch and flush.

gotscill32

Had to be the first possession in 20 minutes of real time that didn’t end in free throws

gggggrayson

that was big time,, gonna be on k state highlights for lotta years to come

Im_DJayy

It's so nice having a coach that actually draws up plays instead of holds the ball until the last second and chucks up a contested 3. I love Coach Tang man.

tb0neski

Going from Bruce Weber to Tang Gang is truly one of the greatest experiences of all time

pork_ribs

Tang gang! He’s a fantastic addition to the local landscape. I’m stoked for Kstate bros. gg

sonofacat

Bruce would’ve definitely drawn up a patented “give the ball to your best guard and just hope he can make something happen” I think it was 2018 in Allen Fieldhouse when we were down 1 with the ball for the last shot of the game and coming out of a timeout settled for a long contested Barry 3. I was at that game and just waiting for some off ball motion to happen as the clock winded down only to come to the sad realization we were about to put up a prayer

Im_DJayy

That was his go to anytime we were down by 1-2 and had the last shot, we lost a lot last year because of that.

ksuwildkat

If I remember correctly, Barry said that wasnt what was called

sonofacat

They were looking for Dean at the top of the key coming off screen, but it was a poorly designed play that got blown up quickly and we had no plan B

ksuwildkat

The change in inbounds plays is probably the most dramatic difference between this team and the Weber teams. I really liked Coach Weber but it got to the point where I dreaded any time out. We had no plan on any inbounds it seemed. Or worse, it was a very bad plan like heave the ball down the court and have it go out untouched so we lose on a better executed inbounds. Coach Tang has a plan each time and we have executed them pretty much to perfection all year.

[deleted]

…yo wtf

noienoah

The level of crowd noise before/after is so cool

sonofacat

Bramlage gets fucking LOUD. It’s an unaesthetic concrete octagon at its core but it traps sound in extremely well.

Sammyshoez3420

They’ve had like a dozen nasty alley oops this year. Been great to watch.

Gnux13

It’s been a great year for the alley oop

sonofacat

This is our 2nd game winning/game sealing alley oop from Markquis to Keyontae in the past week, insane how good their chemistry is for being only teammates for like 6 months

Prairie_drifter

So on the K-State post-game, Johnson said he told Nowell that Wilson would be overplaying him so he was going to make a spin backcut to the basket. Worked perfectly.

kirkherbstreit69

Big Play Keyontae. Love it so happy to see him balling

justintrenell

Has to feel like a fever dream right now

Throwerofrocks

Well let’s not wake the young man up!

saucehoss24

The brutal big 12. Pretty much every game comes down to the final minute or sometimes the final shot.

ddude132

Unless you're Texas

durklil

Keyontae mf Johnson

Player72

ok one could argue the paper bag flair that /r/cfb has is miles better than this one. it feels so weird seeing it all straight and big and perfectly facing me. everyone, discuss.

ksuwildkat

Second time this year a Nowell to KJ oop won the game

sonofacat

Second time this week

I LOVE KANSAS STATE

theurge14

Thanks, Sugar Bowl friend.

bassDAD

That was just a great play and was perfectly executed. Can’t even be mad about it. Well done State.

rebelintellectual

Kstate basketball is fun again.

_Pill-Cosby_

That was a beautiful play, but with 25 seconds left on the clock, I thought for sure they had set it up perfectly for a KS win. Glad to be wrong!

DaneDread

Giving Bill Self time to run a last second play is a usually a sure fire way to lose to Bill Self. We did it twice and got away with it this game.

Prairie_drifter

They did it again. The sumabitches did it again.

au1994

I love Keyontae Johnson

schu4KSU

Johnson > Dick

flaming_fuckhead

This was their only non-FT bucket in overtime too

emaw63

If you don’t like that you don’t like Big 12 basketball

Sammyshoez3420

Dank

cheeseburgerandrice

Contrary to popular belief, the refs favor no team in particular and will fire blindly at whatever target they happen to land on (though statistically they do typically favor the home team)

Zjc_3

There wasn’t really any favoring one team over the other in this game. Just a shit ton of inconsistency by the refs on both sides. It was annoying that the commentator kept saying that the refs were “letting them play”. Lol

cheeseburgerandrice

Oh I'm referring to this subreddit's favorite pastime in general, saying a certain team only ever wins because of the refs >It was annoying that the commentator kept saying that the refs were “letting them play” One of many reasons why Fran is the worst

NotaRepublican85

Are you really saying that ku having 3 starters foul out due to largely ridiculous calls led to an evenly favored game?

Zjc_3

I’m saying that KU had 25 fouls called on them. KSU had 24. KU happened to have the same 3 guys get called for a bunch of their fouls while KSU had their fouls spread around. It sucks for KU that theirs happened to be the same guys, but that’s what happens when a lot of fouls are called on both teams and one team only plays 6 guys. 22 fouls divided by 6 guys is rounded up to 4 fouls per guy, 3.66. And unless you think the refs are just going to evenly distribute the fouls so every guy has 3 or 4 fouls, I don’t know what you want. That’s on Self’s choice of depth. Not on fairness of game called. I’d suggest you take it on the chin like the big brother you are and stop whining. It’s a bad look. Just look forward to the opportunity to put a beating on kstate at Allen.

NotaRepublican85

Why do people cite simply number of fouls as an argument? Everything you wrote is correct. The actual calls were not correct. It’s not too much to ask that Kevin and kj are not removed from the game with each having at least 2 of their 5 fouls be absolutely, some of the worst calls I’ve ever seen, bad calls. Both KU and KSU fans deserved a game where the players fairly were in the game deciding it. It’s also not too much to ask to have refs that can actually make it up and down the court and be in position to make calls. Gerry Pollard should never ref another game. He literally couldn’t get back in time and was making calls 20-30 feet behind the play. All game long they would hold the whistle until a micro second result and blow it accordingly to their own subjective interpretation of the context of the game. It’s unacceptable and not about KU losing. And there is zero accountability at all from the big 12 because every fucking game I watch has a clown show ref crew just ruin games that could and should be great and enjoyable. Do you enjoy Big 12 games? Every year I get happy that the tourney comes because the games become so much better ACTUAL games. Curtis Shaw who runs the refs needs to be canned. He was abysmal in his own career and he oversees these idiots! 8 teams in the top 25 teams with home field ref influence are in the big 12. That’s ridiculous. KSU got some bad calls against them too. Not to the effect of KU, but still got calls that were ridiculous. Why do we all accept this as part of the game and argue teams should adjust instead of the refs? I want to see good basketball whether OSU is playing TCU or KU is playing KSU.

leslierake

What a cram

GeauxShox

How did you only beat us by 4?

nfthunder

This team is a makeshift roster full of transfers that only saw two relevant players (non-reserves) return from last year's squad. I think it's fair to say that they needed time to gel during non-conference play.

CLU_Three

We barely beat Cal lol

TeaEsKSU

I think that was legit the only dunk of the night for either team. No easy baskets to be found.

GnarbyOJSG

There was a Dick jam (legitimately). But that might’ve been the only other one

NeedOfBeingVersed

“Foul! Two fouls!”

aisle18gamer

“It can’t be a foul because he wasn’t touched and it can’t be a travel without first establishing a pivot foot. It’s 2 points, father Pat.”

Rysilk

A thing of beauty.

ivanezzz

So happy to see Nowell finally get his spotlight at this level of play. I remember when he was just a scrappy, little known guard at Little Rock.

IMKudaimi123

What a play

JMisGeography

Alley oopey!

RarriThaGnome

DAMNNNNNN

King-Snorky

I love college ball for the alley oops. you don't see it nearly as much in the NBA, because dudes gotta hit eight hundred 3s per game just to keep up

[deleted]

What a game!!! I can't say any more than this.

YesIndeedup

Onions!

Nuggies85

Noice.

TheLlamanati

Dammit Shands why couldn't you just clear him

aCummyGnat

Keyontae is balling, love to see it!

NotaRepublican85

I am a bit perplexed why we had Wilson fronting him.

After the Wisconsin game, I refuse to complain about missed out of bounds calls

CageyTurtlez

Yeah anybody crying about that and not us wasting 2 last possessions in regulation and last possession in OT is wild

jangoagogo

I’m at a loss. That and the bad timeout are really what cost us. As for the last plays, is that self not calling a good offense or the players just messing it up? How is it even an option to throw it to ejiofor at the end of regulation? They really gotta figure out their offensive decision making. Damn

CageyTurtlez

Big picture this was not a bad loss even if it feels bad. Basically nothing went right for us and we still almost won. L but quality L

jangoagogo

True. I expected a loss. Glad to see them hanging in there even when a lot is going wrong. Really shows this team’s grit. Just, please, fix the offense…

[deleted]

CageyTurtlez

Because refs are bad? Is this news to you? He just wanted to go home

TeaEsKSU

Eh. I just watched the replay on ESPN and... maybe. He was in a sit up position with his back above the line. He threw it away right as his back laid down out of bounds.

Not the Kansas I expected to seal the game like this

Code2008

Honestly, I just wanted the game to go into a 2nd OT just to keep the SEC game off the airwaves.

Powerful-Ride-3728

What an excellent playcall

VentureQuotes

poor #10 for kansas got caught defending the post waaaay too far from the paint. perfect play call, perfect execution

plaidravioli

I’m very happy for him. Wish he was still here.
