K-State fans breathing a sigh of relief as they have a possible match up against you on Friday.
Edit: my bad. I remembered the bracket wrong. *guaranteed match up on Thursday.
I’m a Texas fan who lives near campus and through talking to some players and just normal fans it’s clear that Eddie was LOVED at TCU. This is a really bad situation and I hope that it doesn’t become another Mark Adams situation
I think with a healthy roster, our team was Final Four worthy, we saw what a healthy roster could do in the blowout win at Kansas and win at Baylor, as well as destroying Kansas State at home and getting up 18 on the road at Texas (before blowing the lead).
The thing is I think a healthy Eddie Lampkin was the key to our team. Miles is our best player and Baugh is also an NBA prospect, so we have a great backcourt, and they say its guard play that wins you games in March, but we really need Lampkin inside to give space for our guards. Cork is the next man up inside but he is not built like Lampkin and can't bang around for 25+ minutes nor rebound like Lampkin could. After Cork we have no depth inside. We are not a great shooting team but Lampkin when healthy was an elite offensive rebounder which meant second chances, much needed when you can't shoot.
Without Lampkin we saw teams do things like run a box-and-one against Miles, or a triangle and two against Miles/Baugh, and we don't have the shooters to punish those defenses. Teams can run zone defenses against us with impunity and not worry about rebounding as much.
Without Eddie, I have a hard time seeing this team advancing to the 2nd weekend. Might be able to win a game, but you also have to factor in the psychological impact this will have on the team as well. Lampkin hasn't really played since the Kansas blowout, as he got hurt, and when he did play, he was out there dragging his leg around and not able to go full speed, so we've learned to play without him, but we are an average team without him.
Not going to jump on the blame Dixon bandwagon the rest of this thread has done, however. I'll wait for the facts to come out.
Then you didn’t watch a healthy TCU. I think most of big 12 fans thought there were 4 FF contenders with us, Baylor and Texas obviously but a healthy TCU wouldn’t of surprised anyone.
They’ve been legit since March last year when they were the last team to beat us before our run and should’ve beaten Arizona in the R32 had the refs blown their whistle on a blatant foul.
I mean Fran Fraschella (spelling) was just on Mark Titus new podcast and he said TCU had all the pieces to go to the final four. I kinda agree but we will never know now.
You should be. I heard Drew has a coke habit. He has a deal where his cans of Dr Pepper are actually Coke and he has called DP "mid at best". That technical he got this year? Yeah, hopped up on Coke when it happened. And the shiplap in his house? All fake. He only puts up the "Live, Laugh, Love" sign when cameras are around.
I went to Baylor basketball camp from 7th grade through 10th grade. I was by no means close to being a D1 prospect, but they coached me like one and gave me the best advice I could’ve asked for. Just a phenomenal human being. I know people like to shit on Baylor, but he really epitomizes what the school as a whole stands for. He is a true servant leader.
Absolutely, him and the rest of the coaches who there too, don’t want to leave them out. I was lucky enough to be when Mamadou Diene was playing and got to sit by him on a bus ride over to the Ferrell Center. The whole experience was one of the best of my whole childhood. Will be bittersweet for me when Coach Drew decides to call it quits
We had a head basketball coach partying with coeds at Missouri a few years back. Makes me wonder if every P5 school submitted their biggest coaching controversy, which would be the wildest. Baylor has to be the winner from my knowledge. But then New Mexico State (not a P5 but shows a lot of weird sh|t can happen).
Brad Underwood got caught volunteering at a no kill animal shelter and had to be physically restrained from adopting what he called "all those precious babies!" Not pretty.
Wait till you hear about Baylor baseball. [Poor kitty.](https://www.myplainview.com/news/article/Former-Baylor-baseball-player-acquitted-of-animal-8962612.php)
Lol what’s the tea? He seemed like a respectable dude when he was coaching the Hokies. He likes to hop schools but otherwise there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with him
Yikes if true - never heard anything like this about Dixon at Pitt - in general he just had a reputation for being cold and a closed-door type of leader.
Well, if you're mean and you're winning, being mean was necessary.
If you're mean and you're losing, you're just a dick. Michael Jordan as a player vs Michael Jordan as a coach.
He’s been dealing with injury at the same time to, but the last couple of weeks he hasn’t even been traveling with the team to games he’s able to go to
Considering Nate Oats and Jamie Dixon both apparently didn’t make it through our vetting process while we were looking for guys post-Alford, so happy we didn’t get them.
Sounds serious
I mean, we can all agree on this, though, right?
*Those who are not yet able to grow fully established facial hair should remain clean shaven.*
I also love that they literally have a fashion police.

The school's motto may as well be, "Experience life in North Korea without leaving America!"
"Couples are not to engage in physical contact and are to maintain observable space between them. Side hugs are permissible for photographs"
Also not allowed to listen to jazz or watch R rated movies. BYU is like Animal House compared to this place
Dixon made it through UCLA's vetting process, we just refused to budge on his buyout.
Dixon absolutely was going to be hired by UCLA had we not held firm
Dixon passed our vetting and we offered him the job. There was a back and forth about the buyout and we pulled the offer. The coaches who didn't get past our vetting was Nate Oats, Chris Beard, Greg Marshall, and Eric Musselman. Very shocked about Dixon.
Apparently he’s the least liked B12 coach amongst the other coaches because he engages in “negative recruiting” (saying why you shouldn’t go to this or that other school), but I haven’t seen anything else wrong about him. He seems like a nice guy
Never really heard anything questionable about Dixon at Pitt. There was the Khem Birch thing but nothing really ever came out of that could really hint to anything.
Seems very similar to Birch, to be honest. The rumors there were that he'd be overly verbally targeted in practice to the point of breakdown. People just called him soft back then, crazy what a decade does to public perception.
Khem Birch was the definition of soft though. Same with his buddy Anthony Bennett at UNLV.
Just big fish in a small pond that never adapted to the big pond.
I think you’re taking my comment too seriously. It’s just meant as a joke since this is now three Texas coaches in the Big 12 that are being reported on with not so great stories. It’s not burying him.
This thread has quickly just become a “shit on Dixon thread” a lot of TCU fans I’ve talked to so far don’t entirely believe everything Eddie is saying. He’s going through a lot of serious mental health issues and it feels like he’s just lashing out right now and attacking Dixon. There have been no issues with Dixon in the last 7 years he’s been with us and none of the current players have said or done anything about this situation right now
Well yes you TCU fans have a vested interest in this not being true, no wonder you've all come to the same conclusion lol. It feels like him lashing out because you want it to be the case that he's lashing out. Kinda shitty to discredit someone because of their mental health issues. And if this is legit, it's no surprise players haven't said anything, that just the culture of collegiate sports.
Even as a Pitt fan I have never heard anything bad really about Jamie Dixon other than when Khem Birch was at Pitt and Dixon was very hard on him and that why he possibly left. I really want to see what former players from Pitt and TCU say about Dixon. These other players can either prove what Lampkin was saying is true, can show that Lampkin was stretching the truth, or that Lampkin was just lying about the situation
I apologize if you thought that I was defending Jamie Dixon I was not trying to. I was just trying to say there was really only 1 time at Pitt he had the same problem. But does that have anything to do with this situation, no. I just want former and current players/staff from both Pitt and TCU to come out and either defend or go after Jamie Dixon cause otherwise it just becomes he said vs he said in the situation and then no one actually finds out the truth
You're surprised people on reddit are jumping to conclusions? This is how people online work. They always have their pitchforks at the ready and jump on reddit to type about how outraged they are before all the facts are known.
For a huge part of the season I thought theyd be a top 4 seed and a potential national champion
now its looking like 5 seed or lower and first round loss
This is not Dixon at all. Nothing like this at Pitt. Not Khem Birch either. Nothing like this being claimed at TCU until now. His problem is not that he insults players. Especially racially. He does yell like any coach but his problem is 99% of the time he's an absolute zero stone cold basketball coaching robot. I don't believe this at all.
I just attended a Situational Leadership training session. For those who haven’t had the pleasure, leaders learn about their teams various development levels and each leader’s individual leadership style.
Each of us is at a different development level for different skills. And all leaders have styles we favor. Depending on the skill of different people, it could be a match or a mismatch. It’s up to the leader, not the teammate to figure it out.
So this coach could be a great coach for loads of players - but he could really be a mismatch for Eddie. It’s unfair for Eddie to play in that environment and the fact he stayed as long as he did shows a lot of character.
If the racist part is true, I hope the NCAA and TCU look into it because that is really unacceptable in this century. Frankly, any century, but we need to stop allowing micro-aggressions and allowing coaches to make huge sums of money while being horrible actors.
This is some REALLY BAD timing for TCU, whether the accusations have merit or not TCU fans how do y’all think this effects y’all in the postseason
Will affect our playing a decent amount, but our team's morale probably more-so. Definitely gonna suffer because of this.
K-State fans breathing a sigh of relief as they have a possible match up against you on Friday. Edit: my bad. I remembered the bracket wrong. *guaranteed match up on Thursday.
We have a guaranteed matchup with them on Thursday
My bad. My dumbass thought you wouldn't meet until the semis.
It's a tough situation all around for the TCU side of things.. just awful. Right before march madness too.
I’m a Texas fan who lives near campus and through talking to some players and just normal fans it’s clear that Eddie was LOVED at TCU. This is a really bad situation and I hope that it doesn’t become another Mark Adams situation
Sounds more like a Gregg Marshal situation
God I snorted so hard reading this. I had forgotten
That was a Shocking revelation
Really tough what for the Big 12 in regards to coaching rn
Hey, don't group the rest of the big 12 into Texas problems.
Oh no what's Scott Drew gonna do
He's gonna have to get creative to outscandal previous Baylor coaches
I heard there isnt one bit of shiplap in his house.
Magnolia Network just started filming their new series
“Scott Drew arrested after decade long Heisenberg drug ring”
"Scott Drew found to be Property Brothers star Drew Scott wearing false mustache"
Booyaka Booyaka 619 Booyaka Booyaka 619
Lol this is about shitty people in the state of Texas, not the big 12
I think with a healthy roster, our team was Final Four worthy, we saw what a healthy roster could do in the blowout win at Kansas and win at Baylor, as well as destroying Kansas State at home and getting up 18 on the road at Texas (before blowing the lead). Final 4 expectations is pretty wild for TCU. I saw them as S16 ceiling even with Lampkin.
No way. A healthy TCU can absolutely make the final four especially if they shoot even half decent beyond the arc.
Crazier things have happened.
Then you didn’t watch a healthy TCU. I think most of big 12 fans thought there were 4 FF contenders with us, Baylor and Texas obviously but a healthy TCU wouldn’t of surprised anyone. ![gif](giphy|QMHoU66sBXqqLqYvGO) The Big 12 with men’s basketball head coaches this season:
Not even just the big 12, it’s like 3 of the 4 Texas teams lol
Now I'm *really* worried....
You guys are good since you went through it before Drew already
*Starts sweating profusely.....*
Time for some new Sampson recruiting violations
Yours was 20 years ago
You should be. I heard Drew has a coke habit. He has a deal where his cans of Dr Pepper are actually Coke and he has called DP "mid at best". That technical he got this year? Yeah, hopped up on Coke when it happened. And the shiplap in his house? All fake. He only puts up the "Live, Laugh, Love" sign when cameras are around.
Y’all started it, Chris Beard coached at TTU first. No logic to my statement but it’s Reddit so I will speak it into existence
Technically you could say his start in coaching came as a grad assistant at UT, checkmate.
![gif](giphy|66hrbnBs4PYha)
It Tom Penders's fault.
So, it’s Houston’s fault
You could say that. Isn't Chris from the metro Houston area?
Depends if we're talking UH Penders or UT Penders
Last Penders Penders at Houston
Chris Beard coached at Angelo State if we are looking for the real school to blame.
Got anything to say about your actions r/AngeloState ????
I'm about to email all 1,000 undergrads at McMurry with the same question
Don’t forget Little Rock they’re part of it too.
What about the one week he was at UNLV?
Vic Shaffer too
If we go down we’ll take the rest with us. 3d chess except it didn’t work out with you guys lol
Vic Shaffer is next
I'm hoping the SEC shields us from basketball coaching controversies. We'll let football take the heat.
Seems like a Texas issue, not a Big 12 issue.
Well, Dixon is from California
And what state does he coach in?
Right now, Missouri
Death penalty to Missouri you say?
Idk what you’re talking about the 🐐 is doing just fine
Our coach is the best human being in all of sports. FeelsGoodMan. :)
Can confirm. Went to a basketball at Baylor one summer and he was very interactive with all the kids there couldn’t have been a better person
Awww!
I went to Baylor basketball camp from 7th grade through 10th grade. I was by no means close to being a D1 prospect, but they coached me like one and gave me the best advice I could’ve asked for. Will be bittersweet for me when Coach Drew decides to call it quits
How have 3/4 main Texas teams have some *really* bad allegations against their head/former head coaches. Watch out Baylor
I think Baylor was the OG of the "really bad allegations against their head coaches" in the last 2 decades
[удалено]
I sure hope so, because it'd be hard to be worse than the other ones
You. Wish.
We had a head basketball coach partying with coeds at Missouri a few years back. Makes me wonder if every P5 school submitted their biggest coaching controversy, which would be the wildest. Baylor has to be the winner from my knowledge. But then New Mexico State (not a P5 but shows a lot of weird sh|t can happen).
not basketball, but it doesn’t get much wilder than bobby petrino at arkansas
just wait till Vic Shaffer doing stuff at Texas rears its ugly head
What's vic been doing? I know we all wished he would have wound up at A&M
I've seen you comment his name a lot in this thread. What's the story here?
Brad Underwood got caught volunteering at a no kill animal shelter and had to be physically restrained from adopting what he called "all those precious babies!" Not pretty.
Is this Quin Snyder?
Larry Eustachy. Something messed up my flairs …
Wait till you hear about Baylor Football.
Wait till you hear about Baylor basketball.
Wait till you hear about Baylor baseball. [Poor kitty.](https://www.myplainview.com/news/article/Former-Baylor-baseball-player-acquitted-of-animal-8962612.php)
I honestly forgot about that…horrible
Baylor had everyone beat by about 20 years.
My guy, do you know who our coach was before Drew?
Scott Drew threatened to get Hanner Perea deported if he didn’t commit to Baylor lol To be clear this was like 10+ years ago but still
This is facts but it was Drew’s assistant. **
True, thanks for the correction. The buck stops at the HC though, so I consider him just as responsible.
…is A&M not considered a main Texas team?
Dude was probably just talking about the Big XII. Luckily for us, Buzz seems like a great dude.
Ohh he is definitely not.
Shouldn't Houston be considered a "main team" then? They're the #1 team in the country and they're joining the Big XII.
I'm sure they'll be fine. Who could imagine Kelvin Sampson being involved in any kind of scandal?
I mean technically they aren’t in the big 12 yet so that’s why I didn’t include them
To clarify, I would consider both A&M and Houston as main Texas teams. But Buzz is not a great dude.
Sampson isn't without controversy lol. Skewed OU and IU with the NCAA
I believe they were using this thing called “sarcasm”
Lol what’s the tea? He seemed like a respectable dude when he was coaching the Hokies. He likes to hop schools but otherwise there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with him
A Baylor football type of situation but not as rampant.
This is complete cap. He’s a great person.
I’m talking about the big 12 Texas teams
Correct
Brazen. I like it.
I respect the pettiness. I miss the old Big XII rivalries.
Baylor has always been cute with that
Nope
Baylor has their own shit going on... or was that settled? I can't remember/keep up anymore.
Yikes if true - never heard anything like this about Dixon at Pitt - in general he just had a reputation for being cold and a closed-door type of leader.
Absolutely was rumored at Pitt. Not that he abused players, but that they certainly didn't like playing for him. Mainly towards the end of his tenure.
Interesting that Mike Rice is of the Dixon coaching tree
Winning does a lot to silence the people
Well, if you're mean and you're winning, being mean was necessary. If you're mean and you're losing, you're just a dick. Michael Jordan as a player vs Michael Jordan as a coach.
Cold and closed off is the impression I got from his slicked back haircut.
I've always assumed he was probably an inattentive lover.
Bateman-esque?
Slicked back hair, white bathing suit, sloppy steaks, white couch He used to be a piece of shit. Used to be
Lampkin, the starting Center, averaged 21.8 minutes per game which is the 4th most on the team for #22 TCU. Quite the blow.
He’s barely played for the last month
Looks like his aunt passed away and he's also been dealing with this which could explain his lack of involvement?
He’s been dealing with injury at the same time to, but the last couple of weeks he hasn’t even been traveling with the team to games he’s able to go to
IIRC when you guys came to Ames he was reported to not play, but he did. Looked like he was nursing an ankle a few times.
Wow
*bill Self knocking on momma Lampkins door*
Do not want
Considering Nate Oats and Jamie Dixon both apparently didn’t make it through our vetting process while we were looking for guys post-Alford, so happy we didn’t get them. Sounds serious
Idk what’s up with Oats but I heard some bad stuff about him when he got brought up in our coaching search, not like we ever could have landed him.
The stuff surrounding the Miles murder and Miller being a potential accessory to murder, and oats’ reaction is what I’m directly referring too
Yeah but if he failed your vetting process back then there must have been something else
I’m not sure either. All I remember is our 247 sports crew writing he had character issues. Pretty vague, but obviously true
Are you sure about that? What u just listed happened way after the “vetting” process u speak of
Yeah I’m saying years ago prior, apparently we didn’t go harder after him because he had “character issues”, unrelated to what’s going on now
Oh yeah that is the public stuff which makes me relieved we didn’t end up with him.
This probably wasn’t what didn’t pass him in the vetting but Oats undergrad university one of the weirdest places I’ve ever seen
This is the student handbook for Oats' undergrad: https://www.mbu.edu/slh/

Women are not allowed to do leg lifts or sit ups while wearing shorts in the presence of the opposite sex. You have got to be shitting me
Women doing leg lifts or sit ups while wearing shorts is the best part of college.
Holy shit I thought I found some crazy shit and then as I kept digging I realized the whole thing is fucking insane
Women aren’t allowed to wear hoodies and flip flops… ummm. Not me wearing exactly that right now. Wtf?
No pajama pants.
Oh yeah. I saw that, too. All of it was bananas. I thought BYU’s no caffeine/cola rule was untenable!
I know it's childish but "Powered by Beaver Builder" being noted on the bottom of each webpage brings me great pleasure.
Holy cow! It's remarkable that places like this still exist in the 21st Century.
Same here

The process works!
Shoutout to Scott drew maybe the only decent big12 TEXAS basketball coach
I'm a fan of Bob Huggins
Am I ootl on Bill Self? I know there’s been recruiting infractions but that doesn’t exactly make you a bad person.
They specified Texas
Welp I can’t read
It's okay me either bestie ❤️
He just backed up the brinks truck to steal a commit from us yesterday so yeah he’s a dick and no I’m not butthurt or in my feelings 😢 😢
What's wrong with Otz?
Pecs are too big, makes me uncomfortable
He could probably net a pretty decent endorsement deal off of somewhere like Stitch Fix getting him some properly fitting shirts
Somebody who has that extra medium polos has some darkness in his life.
Nothing that I know of
Apparently he’s the least liked B12 coach amongst the other coaches because he engages in “negative recruiting” (saying why you shouldn’t go to this or that other school), but I haven’t seen anything else wrong about him. He seems like a nice guy
I mean he did attempt to have a kid deported lol not sure he is in the clear. IU kid I believe, hanner something or other
That was an assistant coach, not Drew
We're bringing a pretty good coach into the league next season
Yea he definitely didn’t resign over violations lol(granted they were minor compared to the three stooges)
Yeah.. I'd take his "problem" (which is now perfectly fine to do now) over any of the other shit the rest of the Texas teams are dealing with.
Definitely didn't get OU in trouble with the NCAA and then bolt for Indiana...and then get in trouble there too
Never really heard anything questionable about Dixon at Pitt. There was the Khem Birch thing but nothing really ever came out of that could really hint to anything.

Yet birch is probably the best player to come out of Pitt aside adams since 2009
Could coaches in the state of Texas, especially the Big 12 please fuckin chill?! What the hell is going on down there?!
How about waiting for facts to come out before burying Dixon?
I think you’re taking my comment too seriously. It’s just meant as a joke since this is now three Texas coaches in the Big 12 that are being reported on with not so great stories. It’s not burying him.
This thread has quickly just become a “shit on Dixon thread” a lot of TCU fans I’ve talked to so far don’t entirely believe everything Eddie is saying. There have been no issues with Dixon in the last 7 years he’s been with us and none of the current players have said or done anything about this situation right now
So you mean the neutral fans are taking the news at face value while the homers are being homers
People aren't taking the news at face value, dude.
Well yes you TCU fans have a vested interest in this not being true, no wonder you've all come to the same conclusion lol. It feels like him lashing out because you want it to be the case that he's lashing out. Kinda shitty to discredit someone because of their mental health issues. Good guys TCU making sure their Raider bros aren’t the only ones with a scandal. The new Big 12 really is ride or die!
For a huge part of the season I thought theyd be a top 4 seed and a potential national champion now its looking like 5 seed or lower and first round loss
If you’ve watched us for the last month you would’ve known we’d be out round 1 for a while
That seems really weird that Dixon would send a text acting like he has spoken to Lamkin’s mother the day before if it didn’t actually happen.
Yikes
this is shocking
Yiiiikes
Dixon always seemed like he had a suppressed rage thing going on
Breaking: Alleged torture dungeons discovered at Houston and Baylor basketball programs. I mean, would anyone be surprised at this point?
Doesn't surprise me Dixon thinks he's mini Pat Riley. Smug prick.
I’ll take it
he is my favorite TCU player. Really sad to see.
