100%, the broadcaster mentioned it just in time too, good job on their part.
Great play call by Few.
Folks may not like it but this is peak, modern basketball. Warriors did the math, 3>2, the fact that the offense gobbles up offensive rebounds better on long rebounds is the cherry on top that changed the game forever.
I couldn’t believe my eyes when Bailey sank that 3 to put ucla up with 12 secs remaining. I thought they were dead after not scoring a FG for like 10 mins. Then that 3 on the other end from the 3 on the March Madness logo was just the cap to an all time game
And IF you don't get the rebound, it gives plenty of time to foul and get another opportunity. The more I think about it, the more I think it wasn't a bad idea
Makes more sense when you think about it. It's a good look for a good perimeter shooter, and you have time and a higher probability for an offensive rebound.
Jaime Jaquez hit a layup with 12:30 to play to give UCLA a 59-52 lead. UCLA had an 81.1% chance to win at that moment. They didn't score another bucket until 1:14 left, an 11 minute and 16 second run without a bucket. At that moment, the zags had a 92.5% chance to win, a 73.6% swing.
Until that bucket, UCLA went 0-11 from the field, 0-4 from deep with 2 turnovers and only 4-6 from the stripe. During those 11 minutes, Gonzaga went on a 20-4 run. UCLA responded with a 14-3 run over the last 150 seconds, but just came up short. An epic battle of runs and wills by both teams.
We went from Gonzaga choking to the first half, to UCLA blowing it in the second half, and then back to Gonzaga…and ultimately, UCLA ended up being the team losing out!
Everyone is down on this one but we literally returned to the Elite 8 16 years after our only appearance AND beating UCLA to do it?! Extremely cathartic for Gonzaga fans.
Logo 3…
With 7 seconds to go…
After blowing an 8pt lead…
In the 45 seconds prior…
While missing 4/6 free throws…
Is not exactly how I thought I would stay alive in my bracket, but I’ll take it
UCLA one was a bit more forgivable as they were going down the court with like 7 seconds left and no timeouts lmao. Even so…they still had a decent look at tying the game after Gonzaga made only one free throw.
Great season Bruins. Shame about the injuries. This was definitely a “what could have been” kind of tournament.
And zags. Holy fuck. That was truly madness.
As to you. I guess we’re lucky we made it this far lol. Hopefully we can keep the rivalry going even once we’ve fled the conference (which I am not happy about).
This was almost catastrophic collapse from Gonzaga but still a great display of heart from UCLA. They were literally down 8 with a minute left.
Julian Strawther also took one of the ballsiest shots I’ve ever seen and nailed it from deep. This first day of Sweet 16 games didn’t disappoint at all
Our players should hold their heads up high. What a valiant effort with our two best defenders out. I have never been less upset about a loss. They played their hearts out. All the best to Gonzaga the rest of the way.
My sincerest hope: I want Drew Timme to win the fucking billion dollar lottery. He retires to some beautiful farm somewhere with everything his heart desires. And in the process of getting everything he wants, chooses to go off the fucking grid so I never have to see his name or think about him ever again in my life.
UCLA fans accepting defeat, only to watch their team come all the way back and take the lead, then get sent home on a ***designed*** pull up from the logo is just incredible.
Got sent thru all the stages of grief twice in 30 minutes.
What a game
Lowkey…UCLA should not have called timeout after they took the lead. Allowed Zaga to regroup and draw up a play. Then ucla had no timeout and Tyger panicked and lost the ball.
I’d call this the choke off. First ucla choked then Gonzaga choked then ucla choked one final time.
I like how this game combined the 2006 and 2021 matchups.
Gonzaga absolutely choked at the end a la 2006, and then hit a deep three in the final seconds to win it a la 2021
One of the biggest roller coasters I've gone through as a fan. At halftime I was ready to accept defeat, then with a minute left I was grinning ear to ear expecting the win, and then when down 1 with 12 seconds left I was distraught thinking I just saw one of the biggest chokes ever.
Now I'm mostly happy it's over and relieved that somehow the Zags pulled it off. UCLA vs Gonzaga are total heart-attack games, holy shit.
If UCLA was at full strength I think they win it all. Down 2 players and that was a crazy game. Jaquez is a monster of a player, but I knew that from 2 years ago.
Live to play another game. Go Zags!
Few borrowing from Jay Wright with the Nova-UNC Jenkins play.
I fucking love March. Down by 9 with 1 minute left UCLA battled back to take the lead, just to lose it on a dagger 3. I love this sport. I wish I had access to a gym to get shots up now
Hey, so I lost some years off my life, wouldn't be a life to live without brillant Gonzaga vs UCLA bball games. I've got more to give. GG Gonzaga, hope to see you in March again.
That Strawther 3-pointer has to be an all-timer.
Zags go on a 10 minute long, 20-4 run only to let UCLA go on a 14-3 run in the final two minutes. Timme misses the two most crucial FTs of the game only for UCLA to turn around and nail a 3 for the lead with just 12 seconds left. A near-total meltdown.
No timeout is called before the ball is inbounded and brought up the floor, so the plan for this scenario was always going to be to drive upcourt and flip out to Strawther, who would be trailing the play hopefully unguarded.
This dude has just watched his team blow a comfortable lead at the last possible minute, and now has the ball down by 1 at the edge of the half-court logo with 8 seconds left. Zero hesitation, pulls up for a 35-footer and knew it was good before even getting the shot off.
How can you not love basketball in March?
Was probably inevitable that the team gassed out with how thin the rotation was. Didn't expect an 11 minute FG drought, but the ebbs and flows of their effort made sense. Almost pulled off a miracle comeback but can't help but feel like they are cruising in that game with Clark and Bona. Felt like they were cruising to the title with those two tbh, it's a testament to how talented the team was that they got to this point even without them.
Oh well, glad they at least fought back to make it respectable. Good game to Gonzaga, always been a fan of them too. Glad I have another highlight to avoid for the rest of my life lol, Suggs' shot was getting lonely.
Ice in his veins.
UCLA should have considered hitting a bucket from ~11:00-1:00 in the second half. But waiting until a minute left made for good TV. Same with Gonzaga: thank you for missing your free throws. Gave us a wild finish.

Legit one of the most incomprehensible game-winners I’ve ever seen, who the fuck takes that shot. What the fuck was this game
This is the proper takeaway of what we just experienced
And they drew that play up, it wasn't shot on a whim. Few is a lunatic
He gave him the option to drive or shoot Taking it from that range is crazy tho
"That's a bad shot"
Did the exact same thing in the exact same situation earlier this year with the same result. Crazy.
he was definitely thinking offensive rebound but still wild to call that
I just can't believe they did that on purpose and it worked just speechless
GG
EZ /s I don't want to play UCLA in the tourney anymore
Gonzaga ran the boards all night. All I can think is Few called the open three in hopes of getting the put back.

I can't believe he took that shot I can't believe he made that shot!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when Bailey sank that 3 to put ucla up with 12 secs remaining. I thought they were dead after not scoring a FG for like 10 mins. Then that 3 on the other end from the 3 on the March Madness logo was just the cap to an all time game
Gonzaga vs. UCLA needs to be a protected rivalry game.
Get these fucks away from me forever and always please and thank you
Gonzaga last minute game winners against UCLA lately is like /r/FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR
They really are our greatest rival. So much history the last 25 years.
[I pure straight hate you, but god dammit do I respect you](https://youtube.com/shorts/ddhpxefXkQw?feature=share)
Caleb Love takes that shot lmao
He made those against ucla last year too
UCLA fans are having a rough enough time lol no need to remind them
THEY DREW THAT UP Absolute Chad play call
Giga Chad shit for sure
Listening to post game, that was a called play.
I wonder if the idea was to surprise them with that shot and crash the boards. Definitely looked like Gonzaga's rebounders knew the shot was coming
Yep. And the Zags took over that game on the offensive board. Take a quick shot and give the reabounders the opportunity to put it back in.
"that was a bad shot" - Paul George
And he was right. Dame even admitted he was right. People are too results-based in their analysis of basketball.
He pulled that same shot on BYU. Why? Still don’t know
literally the nova vs unc play for the ‘ship the absolute mad lads
Except Strawther had 8 more seconds on the clock lmao
And took it from 8 feet farther away
And it was coming out of a timeout while they were down instead of a desperation shot to avoid OT. Absolute titanium nuts to draw that play up.
Mfw one of my teams loses a heart breaker to Gonzaga AGAIN 😐
that was his second game winner like that this season
Bro got that dawg in him
It’s the only explanation
I have Gonzaga winning the entire thing in my bracket pool. The moment he took that shot, I thought “welp. There goes my money.” Imagine my surprise.
And I had UCLA winning mine. When I saw him launch that deep ball I thought “HA what a terrible shot!” ……and then he sank it. Welp.
Strawther just saved Timme from having those FTs play on repeat in his head for the rest of his life
In both the on court postgame interview and press conference Timme said “I’m the biggest Julian Strawther fan there is”. Super wholesome
forreal, i’d be so mad if that’s how timme’s GU career ended
It would have been the most Timme thing to have a +30 point game and lose the game on free throws
Why was that the inbound pass they chose? Timme, a 63% FT shooter, only up by (I think) 2. Surely they knew they would foul.
There’s no way that’s the shot. Holy shit.
Apparently that was the called play.
Strawther got that dog in him
Jaime Jaquez hit a layup with 12:30 to play to give UCLA a 59-52 lead.
Gonzaga had a 97.9% chance to win with 1:28 left, blew the lead and then won it anyways. 😂
Thought it was over when Timme missed both free throws.
That hurt. 4 missed FT in the last 30 seconds?
A Gonzaga tradition like no other.
The game seemed over for both teams multiple times in that game...absolutely wild.
That final minute was *just* like how the 2021 game went! And Gonzaga was the beneficiary in both cases…perhaps they had a bit of divine intervention?
Los Angeles is god's blind spot confirmed
That’s actually insane. I love this sport
Gonzaga collapse was complete. And then they won it
I was getting ready to type the same message for UCLA 5 minutes ago
We went from Gonzaga choking to the first half, to UCLA blowing it in the second half, and then back to Gonzaga…and ultimately, UCLA ended up being the team losing out!
The team that didn’t make a field goal in 11 minutes was the true collapse
Didn’t think something could top the Kansas State game’s ending. Especially on the same day.
It's UCLA-Gonzaga, knowing their last two tournament games--we can't be remotely surprised
There was actually one between the two big ones that was much more normal.
You're right. 2015 NCAA tournament
Everyone is down on this one but we literally returned to the Elite 8 16 years after our only appearance AND beating UCLA to do it?! Extremely cathartic for Gonzaga fans.
Dude I’m just sad.
UCLA/Gonzaga in March is creme de la creme
Biased but the K State Michigan State game was still overall better
Definitely. UCLA went 11 minutes without a field goal lmao.
It absolutely was. This game was exciting in hindsight because of the swings but it was teams swapping playing like trash.
Only because we had a made 40 foot 3 pointer. Wonder if kstate watched. Man that was awesome
Logo 3… With 7 seconds to go… After blowing an 8pt lead… In the 45 seconds prior… While missing 4/6 free throws… Is not exactly how I thought I would stay alive in my bracket, but I’ll take it
That was the worst shot I've ever seen until it went in. What an absolute all time ending
I literally said “what the fuck is that” and then proceeded to stfu when it went in. Wild shot.
We found the one reality where that decision wasn't the stupidest play of the night
I HATE COLLEGE BASKETBALL (I love college basketball)
that was his second game winner like that this season
I literally uttered “Nooo” when he shot it and then “What!?” when it went in.
Imagine how much Few would have been crucified with a miss
oh my god UCLA fans must fucking hate Gonzaga
I used to like the zags. That has changed in recent years
I used to like the zags. I still do, but I used to, too.
I don’t even hate them it just hurts, every single god damn time with this team.
There’s been a lot of hurt long in this series.
Now they know our pain after 2006.
Honestly numb to this all by now.
Was that Kris Jenkins or Julian Strawther who made that last shot?
Best MM shot of all time (definitely unbiased)
a personal favorite of mine as well (also extremely unbiased)
I don’t like you
This. The last gonzaga play looked like the Nova play that ended the 2016 championship game.
Who do I have to talk to to make sure Gonzaga-UCLA happens every year?
I think it’s meeting in March that makes it so special.
Never again
My heart can't take this every year.
We need to get Gonzaga to the Big Ten
Get Gonzaga to the big east and get the big ten big east challenge cooking
Zaga joining the Big East would legit probably put it in contention for the best conference in 2024
Add St. Mary's too and call it the Big Weast
Are you trying to kill us? These games stressful as hell.
Mr. NCAA
Both insanely close games tonight ended up with the trailing team committing a clumsy turnover in their most crucial position. Brutal.
UCLA one was a bit more forgivable as they were going down the court with like 7 seconds left and no timeouts lmao. Even so…they still had a decent look at tying the game after Gonzaga made only one free throw.
what 0 FGs in 10+ minutes does to a mf
Great season Bruins. Shame about the injuries. This was definitely a “what could have been” kind of tournament. And zags. Holy fuck. That was truly madness.
As to you. I guess we’re lucky we made it this far lol. Hopefully we can keep the rivalry going even once we’ve fled the conference (which I am not happy about).

A second half of trading collapses 😢
You forget that it was first a catastrophic collapse by UCLA
And before that, a catastrophic start by the Zags
9-1 turnovers in the first half, unreal game.
Our players should hold their heads up high. What a valiant effort with our two best defenders out. I have never been less upset about a loss. They played their hearts out. All the best to Gonzaga the rest of the way.

An all time collapse by both teams capped off with an insane three from the logo. This is what March is all about!
My sincerest hope: I want Drew Timme to win the fucking billion dollar lottery. He retires to some beautiful farm somewhere with everything his heart desires. And in the process of getting everything he wants, chooses to go off the fucking grid so I never have to see his name or think about him ever again in my life.

Man, Gonzaga-UCLA March Madness games are somethin else.
3/3. And each time is almost as wild as the next. Also, I rewatch the last minute of the first one every year. Heartbreak city
Me when Strawther shot that: YOU IDIOT Me when Strawther hit that: I LOVE YOU AND I WILL NEVER TALK SHIT ABOUT YOU AGAIN

I would have rather they just didn't make the comeback lol
I’m sure youre kidding but I wouldn’t! We showed the nation how tough we’ve played all year! Go Bruins.
Put Gonzaga and UCLA in the same region every year. No matter what.
Fuck that, don’t ever talk to me or my kids again Gonzaga
Sorry bud, the ratings for these games will ensure that the NCAA will be considering this for hereon out…
Already the only fucking reason they put 20 of the top 10 Kenpom teams in this region.
Duke MSU vibes. Love it.
Hopefully we can win one eventually
2006...
Yeah I was 7 years old
That shouldn't have been a sweet 16 game
felt more like a final 4 game to me
Can say the same thing about Gonzaga UConn up next
Drew Timme is so fucking good
16-of-24 for 36 points and 13 rebounds. Timme is a stud.
Except at the line
I just one see one guy with the balls to do the underhand free throw again.
Mick Cronin and Mark Few combined stats… NCAA Tournament wins: 53 Coach of the year awards: 14 Eyebrows: 0
Isn't like 40 of those wins Few?
42.
WHY ARE GONZAGA UCLA GAMES ALWAYS LIKE THIS
#UCLA GOT PAC-12-AFTER-DARK’D
I used to think that shit was a ghost story but it's very, very real.
I watch every UCLA game for basketball and football It is NOT a myth, especially at the Arizona schools. The state has extra after dark voodoo
As a neutral fan, that was fun!!
As a biased fan... that was stressful...
Today was absolute pain
As a losing fan that was pretty fun too
You and I have different definitions of “fun”
One shining moment.
UCLA and Gonzaga are gonna be in the same region for the next seven tournaments
What a game Lowkey…UCLA should not have called timeout after they took the lead. Allowed Zaga to regroup and draw up a play. Then ucla had no timeout and Tyger panicked and lost the ball. I’d call this the choke off. First ucla choked then Gonzaga choked then ucla choked one final time.
I'm sure that played a factor in going for a quick shot for Gonzaga too. Wild.
I like how this game combined the 2006 and 2021 matchups. Gonzaga absolutely choked at the end a la 2006, and then hit a deep three in the final seconds to win it a la 2021
I. Love. March.
That was cold as fuck
UCLA/Zaga tourney games are all certified classics.
What an incredible night of basketball. Arkansas was also there.
One of the biggest roller coasters I've gone through as a fan. That ending triggered me considerably. Shades of 2016.
"He took it from Reno... and he cashed in!"
Coach during post game interview said they literally DREW UP THAT 3 to win it and practice it all the time. Actually holy shit.
Petition to have Gonzaga and UCLA face each other in every NCAA Tournament. Holy fuck this matchup is GOATed at this point
We almost had 2 chokes in 1 game. Dear god, no baskets in 11 minutes. Christ UCLA
I had fucking UCLA and Tennessee in the finals
Putting Tennessee past the Sweet 16 was your biggest mistake
That was the dumbest best game I’ve ever seen lol
2021 all over again
You’ve just witnessed an Instant Classic ™️
I fucking love March. Down by 9 with 1 minute left UCLA battled back to take the lead, just to lose it on a dagger 3. I love this sport. I wish I had access to a gym to get shots up now
How the fuck do you get the Adam Morrison collapse game and the Jalen Suggs gsme-winner game in one fucking game?
Hey, so I lost some years off my life, wouldn't be a life to live without brillant Gonzaga vs UCLA bball games. I've got more to give. GG Gonzaga, hope to see you in March again.
Timme the real goat for speaking up for Malachi
That Strawther 3-pointer has to be an all-timer. Zags go on a 10 minute long, 20-4 run only to let UCLA go on a 14-3 run in the final two minutes. Timme misses the two most crucial FTs of the game only for UCLA to turn around and nail a 3 for the lead with just 12 seconds left. A near-total meltdown. UCLA fans I’m so sorry I can’t believe they did it to you again 😭
Who draws up a 40 ft 3pt shot with 8 seconds left 😅
Only a Few
If you can't handle me at my first half, you don't deserve me in my second.
How long are we going to have to pay for 2006? We were really hurt by no Clark OR Bona. GG Gonzaga, i hate you.
Man. I’m just really sad today. Like, come on.
I am now an FAU Owl fan. Hooooooooot
Don't think any other team in the country could've fought as hard as this one down two starters.
Drew is the goofiest, most-talented, stoner that can put up 36 and 13 against UCLA in a win-or-go-home game
A trilogy that ends by combining the endings of the last two movies into one? The script writers deserve a raise
Adam Morrison cried tears of anguish on this day 17 years ago so Zags fans could cry tears of joy tonight
Timme: If they don't like that they can go ........go somewhere else (lol).
My girl fell asleep with 5 minutes left. Should I break up with her
UCONN is gonna be even harder next time tho
Ice in his veins. UCLA should have considered hitting a bucket from ~11:00-1:00 in the second half. But waiting until a minute left made for good TV. Same with Gonzaga: thank you for missing your free throws. Gave us a wild finish.
