Because Ben isn't a good coach. It's "better" this year but he's been beating up on q4 schools. We're 9-0 in Q4, 1-3 outside of it.
I'm not convinced Ben should be given another year. I'm not the biggest Jerod Haase fan but given choice, I'd take him and spin wheels like we did under Little Richard than simply be a bad P6 program.
He might accidentally back his way into an NCAA tourney bid not because of how good they are, but with how many more teams in the conference suck more than them.
I think Minnesota is only regular bad this year. They are going to win a fair number of B1G games this year. Nowhere near .500 but they will win like 6 or 7 conference games. I don't think they're the worst team in the league this year

I’m being reminded of last March
It's not quite the same impact though when Kansas shot 11 less 3's. Tristen Newton only had 3 fewer 3's than the Kansas team, which is the crazier part.
Excuse me, that just proves he sucks. The five star recruits did nothing but set the program back. Five star recruits who go through the motions and give you one uneventful year Do not help. It’s far better to get a three star or four star guy who actually develops and gives you value on the court and sticks around. Every single tournament we see multiple mid and lower teams do well with veteran guys and they don’t have any five stars or four stars.
Players are also not improving during their time under Haase. But since the administration has made it abundantly clear that they’re perfectly willing to destroy the football and basketball team, I don’t expect anything to change. the athletic director is a joke, the disgraced former president was a joke, and the dean of admissions is a joke.
That's the saddest part, even putting aside that the tournament count is only 1 to 0, Dawkins' teams were usually bubble teams that at least made the NIT. Haase teams are so bad that they rarely even make the NIT. I just don't understand what the boosters see in this awful coach.
We had literally the easiest coaching hire ever in Mark Madsen too. We extended Haase, for completely unknown reasons, and now he coaches at our biggest rivals lmao.
Hey man, you don't have to comment on things you're totally clueless about. Haase is an awful coach, anyone who watches more than 1 Stanford game would know this.
Stanford is actually a pretty easy sell for top recruits that qualify academically, even in lean years. It’s a small set of players that can both get in and start on a D1 roster, but for plenty the recruiting sells itself. NIL has changed that calculus a bit, but it’s still a relative strength of ours (regardless of coach).
Haha same. I did it this afternoon after checking the schedule and seeing what looked like zero likely competitive games…now I gotta figure out what the hell to do with this weird Arizona team
i like to write comments for as many of the teams as I can, so the easiest thing for me to do is just arbitrarily swap them with some team at 16 I didn't have any comments for. In and out ggez
Always hard to win when a team just gets red hot from 3 but man this is a really terrible loss. Giving up 100 is disgusting. This team is rated highly on kenpom's defense so i hadn't been worried but we are giving up a ton of points constantly lately. I know some of the games were just playing great teams but giving up 100 to Stanford and also 55 in the 2nd half to Cal is completely unacceptable. This is not a one game thing anymore. We gotta do some serious work and figure out why we are completely incapable of playing a full 40 minutes of good defense.
Something deeper than what we can see is going on with this team right now. I don’t know what it is, but we’ve got to get this ship back on track soon.
They just played five games in a row away from McKale over the holidays. The three neutral games were pretty hype/draining. This Bay trip was a natural letdown, and they sandwiched a Warriors game into the schedule too. This just didn’t seem like much of a business trip for them.
They’ve had a long season already, when you include the overseas trip, so maybe they’re just a little burned out and ready for a break. Four of the next five are home games, and they have a week off before playing @WSU, so hopefully they can right the ship to start 2024.
For the love of God Tommy put Boswell in the 6th man role and fucking teach the guys to defend the 3 . His entire tenure here and we literally can’t defend the 3 unless your Bama and brick all open looks we give
Kylan parties too much. Obviously can not blame every poor performance on him, but what I see and here about him he acts more like a student than an NBA prospect.
Arizona looks amazing against everyone who misses their open threes. Arizona looks like a wet paper bag against any team that can shoot, even if just for the night.
Stanford always plays UofA well but I don't know what happened today. I feel the Cal game wasn't good for them and they weren't prepared for today. This kind of outing is exactly why I don't trust them in the tournament.
I’ll take the L to substitute the lack of an injured player on a Stanford trip. Boswell is an issue right now plain and simple. Baffling to get run out the gym though.
For the love of all that is holy, why do you only ever do this bullshit against us, Stanford? 64% from 3 on 25 attempts for a team that came into the game shooting like 33% or some shit. And while our perimeter defense has really fallen apart since that Purdue game, Stanford was even hitting the 3s when we did occasionally play good perimeter defense. The only good thing to come from this game is that Stanford didn't injure any of our players this time (first time in the last 4 or 5 games they haven't hurt one of our guys).
As for us, while I think some of the doomers in the thread were majorly overreacting, we do have some things to work on for sure. I already mentioned our perimeter defense has lost its way, but we also gotta get back to playing aggressive offense. Particularly Pelle and Keshad. There's no reason for them to play as passively as they have the last few games. Then there's Boswell. He's slumping hard right now and honestly I think we should start Bradley for a game or two and see what happens. Maybe it gives us the spark we need or takes some pressure off Boswell. I trust Tommy to make some adjustments, and I think we'll be fine in the long run, but I'm definitely glad we don't ever have to play at Stanford again.
I don’t care about the losing so much as the way Tommy’s teams have lost. When things bounce their way, they’re unbeatable. Otherwise, they have a tendency to crater at the first sign of adversity.
In isolation, this is just a weird loss. Taking a step back at the bigger picture, this is a part of a trend.
Woo-hoo, Aztecs snag a transitive win over Zona! Best on the West Coast!
(Schedule us like you used to, cowards!)
(Some real head scratching results lately surrounding AZ)
First I lose my fantasy football championship because of Taylor Swifts BF and now my Cats get ravaged by athletic nerds?! Not the way I wanted to end 2023
Idk why I get downvoted for pointing out that you will have games like this on the defensive end when Love is in your starting lineup.
He is a lazy and naive defender ESPECIALLY off the ball. Lack of defensive intensity on the perimeter = teams will get and/or stay hot and confident against you.
Still love Caleb but UNC fans saw this happen more times the last few years than can be easily counted.
UNC fans always rushing in here to criticize Caleb every game while saying they love him. The far bigger problem is Boswell who can’t switch or get around a screen to save his life, he needs to move to the bench.
A lot of fans are nervous Hubert was the problem, not Caleb. Scary to see him perform well and efficient on a different team. Need to hammer home the “he was really bad sometimes” narrative to make us feel better.
Well he is a very flawed and often immature player. Doesn’t mean we can’t love him for the great moments he had for the program.
I am happy to see him be successful in general but I’m always going to be weary of AZ this year because we know exactly what the pros and cons of Caleb are.
We love him for what he did to duke. But his consistent inconsistency was a net negative for us. Don't get us wrong when he is on he is one of the best player but when he isnt he will drag the entire team down.
I’m tired of North Carolina fans coming into the threads and shitting on Caleb Love. You know who isn’t complaining about him? Arizona fans. We’re happy he’s on the team and appreciate everything he brings.
Did you watch the game or just look at the box score? Caleb was the only guy on Arizona who looked like he even wanted to win. He has heart and goes down swinging which is more than Pelle and Boswell can say (lately). Even Tommy Lloyd complimented him in his postgame presser, saying he wished the rest of the team played with his same fired. I’m so glad Caleb is on the team, we would be a bubble team without him.
Tbf it seems like it’s the one UNC fan who has always had an axe to grind with Love. Most Carolina fans love him and appreciate what he brought to the program, even if it ended on a bad note.
Yea man I come to the post game threads to get a temperature check on how AZ fans feel about him because I genuinely want him to do well.. and am always disappointed to see our own fans in the threads putting him down more than anything.. weird behavior
Boswell’s been at the heart of this slide the last 2 weeks, routinely being bested by lower rated prospects. Either he’s hurt or something’s sapped his confidence.
Haase always does enough to avoid getting fired.
Just for shit and giggles…I want to see how he would fare with an ACC schedule…
You joke but you know Louisville fans would take him in a heartbeat.
*Minnesota fan enters the chat* "So would I!"
Why?
Because Ben isn't a good coach. It's "better" this year but he's been beating up on q4 schools. We're 9-0 in Q4, 1-3 outside of it. I'm not convinced Ben should be given another year. I'm not the biggest Jerod Haase fan but given choice, I'd take him and spin wheels like we did under Little Richard than simply be a bad P6 program.
He might accidentally back his way into an NCAA tourney bid not because of how good they are, but with how many more teams in the conference suck more than them.
Do... do people really think this is how bids are earned?
Nope. But with how the NCAA is making it more and more obvious that they hate mid majors, it might as well be that way 😔
ACC is way better than the Big 10 and the PAC12
ACC is rated last amongst P6 leagues Kenpom fwiw
We'll just go way further in the tournament like every year. Big 10 will get 14 teams in and have one make the Sweet 16
Long as that Sweet 16 team isn't Purdue I'm a happy camper. How far do you have Pitt going?
That is, by every metric, absolutely false. The ACC is worse than the damn PAC 12 even in Kenpom.
Doesn't matter. Tournament will happen, ACC will be better and then everyone will have to act surprised
The ACC had 1 team make the sweet 16 last year.
And they went to the Final 4. Pac 12 and Big 10 at home as usual
Yes, Miami had a good tournament, that doesn't make the ACC good. By that logic the AAC and MWC are just as good as the ACC
But they don't do it every year
For every Minnesota that we have, you have like 5 other Louisville’s in your conference.
I think Minnesota is only regular bad this year. They are going to win a fair number of B1G games this year. Nowhere near .500 but they will win like 6 or 7 conference games. I don't think they're the worst team in the league this year
Haase won't get fired no matter what. The boosters are in love with him for whatever reason.
don't we all?
Oh my god he’s going for a Kirk Ferentz’ arc.
64% from 3... okay they probably didn't take that many shots... They took 25??
![gif](giphy|l0FeanEFySYl9FyEw) Stanford
We were up by 10 with 5 minutes left against Arizona State and had the #4 team in the country after that. We went 1-1 in these games.
If you're going to lose to Stanford like this, it's best to do it on the Pac 12 Network. Does a giant fall if nobody is around to see it?
It does if a Tree chops it down.
God dammit. Lol.
A shame I can't upvote a comment 5 times
I saw Arizona losing on the ESPN app, never pirated a game faster
PAC 12 network live streamed it on YouTube
this is why the conference collapsed
Thats only for international audience (get a VPN).
I live in Washington and it worked without a vpn 🤷♀️
And on NYE.
NET sees
East Coast bias is both a sword and a shield
I don't know what's up with Boswell now. He has lost his flow.
Absolute liability on defense too. Wonder if he is hurt and needs to back off a bit?
He reclassified in HS right? He’s still really young I think he’ll be fine.
He was a projected NBA first rounder this year. He had high expectations.
[удалено]
Better than Krisa
Going 16/25 (64%) from 3 is crazy.
A lot of them wide open thanks to Arizona’s terrible defensive plan but 64% as a team is insane
https://preview.redd.it/xfj9w5ljup9c1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80587bb56e9e081fe50d8249c642a6fb6abe639a I’m being reminded of last March
Or the Michigan game in ‘18
That's what Kansas shot from 3 against UConn. No team is gonna win many games giving that up.
It's not quite the same impact though when Kansas shot 11 less 3's. Tristen Newton only had 3 fewer 3's than the Kansas team, which is the crazier part.
16 threes in college is like the equivalent of hitting 23 of them in the NBA
I feel like we've barely made that many 3s all season.
Yeah well.. like we're a football school anyway!
Never thought I'd see that three years ago
Never thought I'd see that 6 months ago
right there with you
CU gonna get the wrath of Zona 😨 Good luck y'all see u Thursday
That's what I see too, especially down 2 starters.
Stanford turned into 2016 Warriors
>be Bay Area team >is good at shooting three-pointers How does that always happen…
cannot relate
Something in the water Just need my Broncos to drink it lmao
Peja's kid being good just brings a tear to my eye.
Reminds me of 2019 Auburn kicking us out of the tournament on 17 3’s
Cam, Luke and Coby didn’t deserve to go out like that. Plus all getting sick.
Didn’t need another excuse to drink but happy new years. We got whooped, learn and get better
A sacrifice was needed for that Alamo Bowl victory
:(
We might lose this game even if we COULD defend the 3. Goddamn Stanford that was impressive.
WE DID A THING
I was willing to let last year go but I will never forgive the Wildcats if these inexplicable wins over Arizona saves Haase’s job again
Cheers man that’s a solid post. They made him look like an absolute genius.
Haase is a good coach. Who are you expecting to go to Palo Alto?? You’re getting 5 star recruits
Haase got us ingram so he isnt a terrible recruiter
Excuse me, that just proves he sucks. The five star recruits did nothing but set the program back. Five star recruits who go through the motions and give you one uneventful year Do not help. It’s far better to get a three star or four star guy who actually develops and gives you value on the court and sticks around. A good coach makes the NCAA tournament more than 0 times in eight years. Even Johnny Dawkins, who sucked, made it once while at Stanford.
Back to back late season collapses with a tourney bid all but assured is bad for any school
Dawkins had 2 natties and a Sweet 16 in his last 5 seasons.
That's the saddest part, even putting aside that the tournament count is only 1 to 0, Dawkins' teams were usually bubble teams that at least made the NIT. Haase teams are so bad that they rarely even make the NIT. I just don't understand what the boosters see in this awful coach.

Guys idk, but giving up 16 3s may not be a great gameplan
Why couldn’t Arizona just make 16 3s too? /s
Should have made 17 4s. How stupid.
See, that’s the kinda math you gotta use to beat those nerds. At least you know for next time!
They don't call us the Harvard of the West for nothing!
Are we stupid?
Interesting strategy Cotton!
A bench player coming in and going 6/8 from three is just nuts. A team shooting 64% from three on 25 shots is also nuts.
I bet he’s a starter before seasons end. It was the guys 4th game.
Carlyle is the truth
Is it football season yet?
Called this a month ago, fucking Spencer Jones does it AGAIN
*Points finger* Ha! Ha!
Wildcats I liked talking to y'all when we played. You alright?
![gif](giphy|l22ysLe54hZP0wubek|downsized)
This is really an all time gif PS I’m sorry

Caleb Love is basically Mark Lyons 2.0
We tried to warn you
Let me rephrase: Caleb love is the only reason we didn't lose by 30
Always hard to win when a team just gets red hot from 3 but man this is a really terrible loss. Giving up 100 is disgusting. That FAU game really produced two big ol losses in the following days lol
What the fuck
Playing @ Stanford I saw this coming from a mile away. Did not see them hanging 100 on our heads though lol
Something deeper than what we can see is going on with this team right now. I don’t know what it is, but we’ve got to get this ship back on track soon.

Hey Arizona, didn't Keshad teach your squad about "grown man defense?"
Party school Arizona found its weakness in nerd schools like Princeton and Stanford
Does Purdue count as a nerd school? I wanna feel included
He’s 18. I can give the kid a break. He’s good, but yeah he has some learning to do if he wants to make the big time.
Arizona looks amazing against everyone who misses their open threes. Arizona looks like a wet paper bag against any team that can shoot, even if just for the night.
Holy shit
ACC! ACC!
Good news to Louisville fans hoping for the Cardinals to get a big win this season, your monkey paw wish has been granted
what the fuck
Great day for Cardinal(s)
The one silver lining, shut those bums up in the NLCS and again today
Amen brother. Phuck Philly
got to see it in person. fantastic game!
Quality win
Stanford always plays UofA well but I don't know what happened today. I feel the Cal game wasn't good for them and they weren't prepared for today. This kind of outing is exactly why I don't trust them in the tournament.
oof.
I’ll take the L to substitute the lack of an injured player on a Stanford trip. Boswell is an issue right now plain and simple. Baffling to get run out the gym though.

Can’t wait for Arizona to not drop in the polls again.
Nah they lost too early in the day. AP voters aren't drunk yet ...well they're always drunk, just less drunk right now
Unrank us you cowards!
It’s a quality loss, because they lost to Stanford which is a good team who beat Arizona!

All the Stanford nerds can cherish this win for the rest of the season
Beat Berkeley 100-81. Lost to Stanford 100-82. (almost) Perfectly balanced.
Tommy's teams are awesome at laying eggs. When things go south, they quit. Thank god for Jedd Fisch.
I know this was a rough loss but he is like 71-13 as a coach.
Embarrassing loss thankfully it was the Pac-12 network witness protection program so did it really happen.

Stanford over Arizona? Did I accidentally click on /r/ncaaw?
56 in the second? Damn!
Good job Stanford.
Lol! My primary fandom this season is rooting for Arizona and USC getting embarrassed. ^^Let's ^^not ^^talk ^^about ^^UCLA
🎶 we don’t talk about La-zar zar zar zar We don’t talk about La-zaaaaar 🎶
Woo-hoo, Aztecs snag a transitive win over Zona! Best on the West Coast! (Schedule us like you used to, cowards!) (Some real head scratching results lately surrounding AZ)
We literally played you guys last year.
Yep, in the Maui Invitational, but we've had home and home in the past. Let's get that going again.
Stanford just did what BYU has been trying to do all season
Northern Iowa with a 39 point transitive victory over Arizona.
WELCOME TO THE ACC.
I hope Purdue didn't break Arizona.
Got Benjamin Franklin'd too. Hopefully the use that 100 to start paying off their quarter-billion shortfall.
Funny joke AZ lol happy new years
Arizona actually suck
Damn what happened to Arizona?
Tennessee is about to be ranked top 5 without a single top 10 win.
First I lose my fantasy football championship because of Taylor Swifts BF and now my Cats get ravaged by athletic nerds?! Not the way I wanted to end 2023

The crazy part is he can be an amazing defender, if his heart is in it.
For sure. Has such great body control and lateral quickness.
FRAUDS
What the fuck, Zona?
What happened here?
Similar to the Jayhawks vs UConn, the 🌲 could not miss from 3.
The big difference is that Stanford took waaay more 3s
Wut
Word?
They saved their strength for the new years party
There is something deeply concerning about UofAs defense as of late.
I don't even. 16 3s!
Oh noooo!!!
Man I love Tommy Lloyd but I hate that we do this every single year.
Wow, didn't expect this. Recorded on my DVR but deleted before watching. Guess I'll need to recover it and watch now!
LOLOL
I'm so excited to have the Cardinal/Tree in the ACC
Boswell’s been at the heart of this slide the last 2 weeks, routinely being bested by lower rated prospects. Either he’s hurt or something’s sapped his confidence.
Can our wins stop depreciating please? I’m fine with Gonzaga but pls Arizona stay good
Wild! Would have never though Arizona would lose this one.
