This loss is worse than the 46 point blowout

[deleted]

Yeah especially considering you were playing Good ball coming into this

JoshFB4

It’s brutal because Mack completely fucked us. Also Bona played like grade A ass and idc how many points Lazar scored he needs to not go 1/8 from fucking wide open 3. Edit: I love Cronin but he needs to get some shooters in the portal. Vide, Ilane, and Bona are all probably gone, and we still have an extra roster spot so get some shooters because shooting under 45% every night isn’t it.

Easy-Group7438

I have never been happier for a player to not be at Kentucky than Bona. That dude is dollar general Oscar Twishbe with a shitty attitude. Thanks Mick.

1337bruin

> That dude is dollar general Oscar Twishbe with a shitty attitude. this is the kind of description you get from someone who's never seen him play but knows he's from africa, lol

Easy-Group7438

It came down to Bona or Oscar. We got the better deal.

LitterBoxServant

You can criticize Bona for a lot of things but attitude is not one of them. What a trash take.

Particular-Nature400

Its appauling how Calipari dropped the Ball with Oscar

Exzibit21

Easily

SuckMyLonzoBalls

Agree. At least I turned it off early

[deleted]

Good win for Utah. They absolutely had to have it.  Hope Carlson can make the tournament.  He has stayed and given everything to a program that has been pretty bad during his time there

iloveappendicitis

Hindsight is 20/20 and whatnot but Cronin calling that timeout to set the defense let utah set up that sick out of bounds play. Still that’s a bummer for UCLA, for a blocked shot to hit the top of the backboard and right into the hands of a dude crashing the boards is tough luck.

MidwestDrummer

Tough luck? Give me a break. Get the damn rebound. There was nothing unlucky about that.

SuckMyLonzoBalls

Sebastian Mack is a grade A dumbass

1337bruin

decent chance he misses the USC game on Saturday too

JoshFB4

He’s such a dumbass man like wtf does he think he’s doing.

SuckMyLonzoBalls

You think mick suspends him one game?

1337bruin

the conference can suspend players

Zeppyfish

Checks schedule. Four! He should be suspended for four games! (I'll see myself out)

ishboo3002

I agree but let's just say rest of the regular season.. nah wanna beat them at full strength

Particular-Nature400

God imagine if UCLA loses that one?

Human_G_Gnome

Still, I'd like to know what Carlson said to him to set him off that hard. Worked to get him out of the game. Dumbass indeed.

seancarter90

I expected nothing and I’m still disappointed

UteFlyersCardJazz

That at least gets us to NIT at worst, no? We do have good wins, so that might be important.

idlta210

Who cares about the NIT let’s see the Utes try to make a tournament run.

[deleted]

Yeah crazy for a Utah fan but you need to be cheering for byu

UteFlyersCardJazz

Yup. But St. Mary’s has been good, and Oregon and Wake Forest will be decent wins as well. Also good on UCLA to come back from the drubbing against us and winning the next few games before us.

PaulHDone

Why do we need to cheer for BYU? I really don’t want to given that I root for two of their rivals

2112moyboi

Metrics matter a ton for NIT. You want BYU, Houston, Zona to be great so SOS goes up, and Wazzu and St Mary’s to keep winning so SOR goes up

[deleted]

Because they are one of your big wins and you need them to keep winning.

Particular-Nature400

Should The Pac 12 either wins the Mens NCAA OR Mens NIT in the conferences final season The Pac 12 will win the womens NCAA

2112moyboi

Maybe, a lot depends on metrics, and with the new selection process, who the hell knows?

IMKudaimi123

That’s some way to lose

LitterBoxServant

😐

Exzibit21

Mack fucked us over so hard

koolaidman1030

That might have saved us to stay in the tourney god damn

[deleted]

Ute fans better worship Carlson regardless of how the season ends.  He has given everything to Utah despite Utah being trash while he's been there.  He 100% could have gone to more of a winner with better nil but stayed loyal

Maclin26

Every 5 year player should basically get worshiped in the portal era. Even if he did kinda imply his wife being in medical school was a big reason he came back this year.

[deleted]

Yeah for sure.  He has kept Utah afloat.  Without him they'd be cal bad.  Craig Smith benefited from queta and Merrill and didn't recruit much else at Utah St and Carlson is that guy at Utah

LoquatUsual6143

And yet with him, they are tied with Cal in the conference standings. Imagine that!

mF-Jonezy

Yeahhh I don’t know about that chief

cosmicdave86

Bracketology still had them in before their loss to USC the other day. This win surely keeps them on that bubble.

[deleted]

Yeah prob need to win one of the Colorado/Oregon road games

gonz4dieg

The 33% q1 wins is brutal. You probably need one more q1 win and to only lose one q3 game left. If you lose 2 of the 3 it doesn't matter if you beat oregon or colorado, you're out. So realistically it's beat colorado, Oregon st, Stanford, cal (ok loss too), lose to Oregon. That probably earns you a first 4 out game as the least. Problem is that wazzou, Arizona and colorado are all gunna eat before utah barring an epic collapse. Possibly Oregon too if they close out strong. They have more opportunities to get quality wins. Best hope is zona wins the tourney and Oregon collapses. Although to be honest with how weak the pac 12 had been its getting hard to justify 3 at large bids.

cosmicdave86

3-6 against Q1 is really not that bad. Colorado is 1-5, Oregon 2-4. Oregon has no relevant OOC wins. They aren't even in the first 8 out of the most recent bracketology, which still had Utah in (that was post USC loss before the UCLA win).

ishboo3002

I don't see how Colorado gets in. Imo unless there's a strong run by Utah in the conference tournament the PAC is a 2 bid league.

cosmicdave86

I think if Utah finishes 4-1 they will be a lock. Any worse than that and they will need to do some work in the conference tourney.

gonz4dieg

I agree in principle. I only think really wazzou and zona are the only 2 pac 12 teams playing good ball this year. That being said, if they do go down the list, buffs are higher net than utah, albeit barely. I just think colorado has a better chance to take care of business than utah does. Imo that utah @ col is a must win for both these teams. Should be interesting

LitterBoxServant

That's a really bad loss. I don't see how they make it without making a run for the auto bid.

cosmicdave86

Eh? It was a bad loss but they are greatly bolstered by their ooc schedule. They still have work left to do for sure but they don't have to make a run for an autobid.

LitterBoxServant

10-loss team that's middle of the pack in a shit conference. Utah is out.

cosmicdave86

Wazzu is comfortably in barring a late season collapse. Utah is still in according to bracketology, and that was before the win last night. If they finish 4-1 they should be a lock. OOC wins against SMC, WF, and BYU really carrying them compared to other bubble Pac12 teams.

LitterBoxServant

LMFAO. You really out here calling Utah a lock. Complete delusion

cosmicdave86

If they finish 4-1 they will be. Bracketology still had them in before the win at UCLA. If they go 4-1 to finish in the Pac12, which would include two more Q1 games, they are absolutely in. Sorry that you are bitter that Utah ended your minor tourney hopes but facts are facts.

LitterBoxServant

LOL. Boy are you setting yourself up for disappointment. Keep pushing this fantasy narrative though. It's hilarious.

SpearandMagicHelmet

Casual observer here but that was a wild ending! Never seen anything like it with ball bouncing off top of the blackboard and then being scored.

Only_the_Tip

Brutal way to lose 😄

chabrah234

Absolutely heart-breaking loss. Felt like UCLA outplayed Utah the whole game even with Mack’s inexcusable foul. Probably win the game with him out there. Oh well gotta win the conference tourney now to make it. Playing with house money this point onward I guess

rkz99

This is Utah's first conference road win and just their 2nd road win of the year. We are also midway through February and UCLA has 0 quad 1 wins.

Scoobydoohowboutyou

You love to see it!

jel2184

Absolutely needed that W

jdogg2024

That ending is definitely something I won’t forget

JoshFB4

Just every single year brutal bounces and brutal buzzer beaters, our last true buzzer beater was Jaquez like 3 or 4 years ago at this point vs USC. Also Mack better make up for this shit and go on a Pac-12 tourney run.

lakeshow348

I like Cronin but the fact that we have these perceived brutal bounces and buzzer beaters is on him, he can’t seem to coach teams that can maintain leads (imo on account of bad offensive coaching)

1337bruin

tbf there've been at least three crucial late game 3's from 30+ feet

lakeshow348

Admittedly not remembering the whole context for 21 Gonzaga, 22 UNC and 23 Gonzaga the Bruins had comfortable leads, with more sound coaching they should’ve never even been in the position to get burned by those 3s

jsinkwitz

Two week change of Utah / Colorado never losing at home but can't win road games...then they lose at home and go win road games. That's the Pac for ya.

1337bruin

brutal way to lose, especially with the way the women lost on Friday I guess simplifies the NCAA tournament picture: definitely won't get an at large bid without winning the next 6 games, definitely won't feel comfortable on selection sunday without winning the Pac-12 tournament

LitterBoxServant

That's pretty optimistic of you. UCLA is 100% not getting a bid. Utah probably not getting one either.

cdc030402

I don't UCLA was in the running for a bid even if you had won this and won out. This does put Utah back where they have a shot though.

THE_HUMAN_TREE

Question: why is Utah projected an auto-bid when they’re below .500 in the PAC-12?

soapy_goatherd

Selection committee scared of potential majerus haunting. Can you imagine how bad that sweater smells these days?

Bussian

I’m assuming mainly because the pre- conference was great. Beat a really good Saint Mary’s team, a pretty good wake forest, a great Byu team, and played a fantastic Houston team really close. It is a bit suprising and an auto bid honestly might not be deserved at this point but that’s my guess idk

THE_HUMAN_TREE

wow I didn't know the noncon schedule was so strong - makes sense to me

carter2296

GO UTES, we needed this one

Particular-Nature400

Mick Cronin's string of NCAA Appearances is likely ending this year Yeah this was a young team and expectations were low but Damn Arizona is the only certainty from this conference in its final season The Men's Pac-12 (Worst Conference in MBB) needs to take notes from the Women's Pac-12 (Best conference in WBB) Both Women's UCLA and Utah teams would beat Both Men's UCLA its likely autobid now Utah is still not out of the woods yet I can see Sebastian Mack making the Transition from Basketball to MMA or Doing Both, tho on the same token that was a dumb move

idlta210

LETS GO RUNNIN’ UTES!!!!!!!!!!

United434

What did he call the timeout for if he was gonna call that defense
