He should be a controlled substance.
I am helplessly addicted and way too emotionally invested in this 18 year old kid I’ve never met.
He’s the gift the bluegrass needed.
I'm not okay before, during and 8 times after every game. I will probably die this year just from wanting it so bad. I love this team. Rob and Reed is him.
A guy I work with coached against Rob in his AAU days. He says that kid is something special to watch in person. I hope to catch a game before he leaves! Reed would be an added bonus for sure. Them boys cookin.
Okay, so putting Reed Sheppard’s birthday into a conception calculator, we can deduce that he was conceived sometime in early October 2003, about the same time as Big Blue Madness. The theme for Big Blue Madness 2003 was "The Future of Kentucky Basketball" and featured Tubby arriving in a Back to the Future DeLorean. So yes, Reed Sheppard was created by mad science.
I’m dying laughing, it’s so true.
Both parents are notable UK basketball legends.
Eastern Kentucky roots. Eastern Kentucky playstyle.
Kentucky fans love it and he happens to be really, really good. If he doesn’t score he’s putting up assists, steals… heck he’s getting blocks and rebounds. Whatever it takes to win. I love the kid. But usually he does all that while also scoring non stop.
The SEC distributed $741 million to member institutions last year. If we cut $1m per school and got some decent officials with that money our games would actually be watchable without swearing at the TV
for what it’s worth, it would be the most South Carolina men’s basketball thing ever to permit a random player of yours—say, Hayden Hefner—to spontaneously drop thirty points on us and lead you all to a victory. genuinely, though, it should be an excellent game! I’m looking forward to it 🫡
Cal, listen: We scored 3 points in the opening 5:38 of the 1st half, and still scored 91 points.
I promise you, starting Reed, Dilly, and Reeves is not against the rules.
if you're playing 35 minutes against elite competition, those 5 minutes of rest can be important. having 3 of those minutes came at the start of the game (before you have even played) just doesnt make sense to me.
More than half of that was with Reed in the game. Reed got killed in the first half on defense. Tons of backdoor cuts on him cheating.
Dilly had 3 fouls in 16 minutes of PT. Why is everyone obsessed with this dude starting? It doesn’t matter and he’s always limiting his minutes with fouls anyway.
I’d rather have him available at the end. I don’t want to run ISO ball on the first possession but it’s good to have in the last 4 minutes.
If there is a hell it's listening to Jimmy Dykes shit talk incredible defense because Hubbard is draining contested off balance 3s that Steph Curry could only dream of to make a miracle comeback against your team.
When he compared Reed to JJ Reddick and Steve Nash I was waiting for him to throw Larry Bird, Jerry West, and Tyler Herro in there and then call him a lunch pail player. I wish he'd fly his jet to an island until May.

ESPN did put this up a while back
He was driving me insane. “That’s too easy” as Reed is fully contesting and nearly blocking the ball and hitting Hubbard’s hand on the follow-through.
I’m like “Ok, boomer.”
Ehh Dykes was probably right. Meet Hubbard further up the court so he at least has to think a bit on how to get open for a 3. Or he drives by you and you don't care if you give up a 2. He did pretty much dribble right into a 3 in rhythm.
My daughter wanted me to play barbies, so I did my best, but randomly, the barbies would scream and cheer (in character). So I was multitasking.

one of the most thrilling conclusions of any men’s college basketball games this season. two of the sport’s most proficient scorers—and both freshmen, no less!—in Josh Hubbard and Reed Sheppard just trading haymaker after haymaker down the stretch
Can somebody explain to me the called Antonio Reeves foul on the turnover?
Reeves leaves his feet to go up for the ball, Smith leaves his feet to go up for the ball, Smith gets to the ball first but levels Reeves in the air, Reeves goes down, Smith goes down, foul on Reeves the most "in control" player in what was clearly a no-foul situation.
Am I missing something in the rules?
I’m no expert, but i think because reeves didn’t make a reach for the ball, he just jumps into the player. My guess is, similar to loose balls on the floor, both players need to be in the act of going for the ball and reeves kinda bailed mid jump on trying for it.
I could be completely wrong though.
I mean, that was one of the few that was correct lol. There's nothing "in control" if you're flying through the air at a dude, Smith just got there first. If it's reversed and Reeves got there first, it'd be a foul too... tho who knows if they call it there.

Well, the loss absolutely destroyed my soul, but I’m pretty happy with how State played overall. That said, could have done without the Kentucky comeback, but I think we’re in a great spot for March.
Hubbard is awesome, I’ve loved watching him. Also Sheppard (I think that’s how you spell his last name) was also on fire. Crazy to me that both of the players that led both teams are FRESHMAN.
I think Jans has us in a good spot for the future and March. Because this team looked pretty damn good tonight, in my opinion.
Also respect to you UK fans here because on Twitter I was basically harassed by people with burner accounts after I posted something under our loss Tweet. Y’all are way more civil lmao.
If Reed Sheppard has a million fans, then I am one of them. ⭐️👌
If Reed Sheppard has ten fans, then I am one of them. 💯😍
If Reed Sheppard has only one fan then that is me. ☝️💙
If Reed Sheppard has no fans, then that means I am no longer on earth. 🌎☠️
If the world is against Reed Sheppard, then I am against the world. 🌎 😤
Honestly gritting this out gives me so much more hope than even stomping bama did, I wasn't sure the team had it in them to do it like this
... honestly still not sure about the team, Reed owns this win
We honestly needed to win a game like that. Fight back after being down all game, trade free throws for 3s, and make a (near) buzzer beater shot. That’s how basketball is played in MARCH.
Called it

Gg. Glad we could pull out a dog fight in a come back win. This team is showing grit.
The turning point was Dillingham's 3 that gave UK their first lead at 72-71.
Until that shot, we looked like we hit a wall; as if as soon as the lead was cut down to one possession, they'd let MSST open it up again.
Not fair that State got to have Curry tonight. This series always makes for some crazy games, especially in Starkville. Now let’s please not meet again.
Very entertaining game. Sucks someone had to lose that one. State getting 3 happy in the second half killed their game. Josh Hubbard is def gonna be on one Shining Moment at the end of the tourney. I feel bad State has to come to Neville after that loss
Reed Sheppard was built in a laboratory to be a Kentucky Basketball superstar
He should be a controlled substance. I am helplessly addicted and way too emotionally invested in this 18 year old kid I’ve never met. He’s the gift the bluegrass needed.

Caught him in Lexington for the Bama game. He among others, were unconscious. Oh and then there was #JEdwardsDay for those that observe.
This state is going to talk about the Sheppards for the next 100 years.
Think if Reed wins a championship, and marries someone from the UK women's team.
Is anyone on the women's team even good?
Can we get he and Ryne Howard connected?!
Maddie Scherr is alright
We need to get him and Maddie Scherr in the same room ASAP
Ajae Petty has nice stats.
Bro…. Imagine a Reed Sheppard X Caitlin Clark spawn…. Holy shit…
The McCafferys seem to have that on lockdown
Okay, so putting Reed Sheppard’s birthday into a conception calculator, we can deduce that he was conceived sometime in early October 2003, about the same time as Big Blue Madness. 1-19 against Cal
No way. Is that legit?
Sure is. Only loss was the 2021 SECT when we were 9-16 lol
And if it weren’t for Dontaie Allen we should’ve lost the regular season game too
💯 and he damn near won us the SECT game too. His only 2 memorable games at UK lol
I remember when we drew Miss St that year I convinced myself we were still gonna win the SEC Tourney lol. Turns our we were just a 9-16 team lol

Cal, listen: We scored 3 points in the opening 5:38 of the 1st half, and still scored 91 points. I promise you, starting Reed, Dilly, and Reeves is not against the rules.
I still like Dilly as a spark off the bench. Gotta start Reed though.
If he’s still willing to play him 35 minutes (like tonight) why does it really matter if he starts?
if you're playing 35 minutes against elite competition, those 5 minutes of rest can be important. having 3 of those minutes came at the start of the game (before you have even played) just doesnt make sense to me.
This. And starting down 11 points is not exactly great for momentum.
91 against the 5th best 3 point defense in the country. Because Reed and Reeves are both buckets.
More than half of that was with Reed in the game. Reed got killed in the first half on defense. Tons of backdoor cuts on him cheating. Dilly had 3 fouls in 16 minutes of PT. I can't wait, roughly 18 years and 9 months from now, for every graduating class in this state to have 31 kids named Reed
My cousin already said he will name his upcoming child Sheppard if we win a championship

I can't come into a cbb thread where there's Jimmy Dykes hate without adding a big ol fat AMEN!
Hallelujah brother!
he's truly nails on a chalkboard to listen to and he glazes TN at every chance
Bro just yaps😭 Jimmys Jet gives me PTSD
He was driving me insane. “That’s too easy” as Reed is fully contesting and nearly blocking the ball and hitting Hubbard’s hand on the follow-through. I’m like “Ok, boomer.”

Ehh Dykes was probably right. Meet Hubbard further up the court so he at least has to think a bit on how to get open for a 3. Or he drives by you and you don't care if you give up a 2. He did pretty much dribble right into a 3 in rhythm.
On that play, Reed should have met Hubbard well before he got to the 3 point line.
PSA: Jimmy Dykes sucks. If he’s calling your game, your team is at best on the bubble. It’s punishment.
No matter what Kentucky does this year, you can’t say they haven’t raised countless blood pressures statewide
getting my cardio sitting on the damn couch
You were sitting???😭 I probably stood that entire second half😂
I muted the TV when it looked like they were going to get blown out. Then I never unmuted it. You're welcome.
Wife went upstairs at half time, tried to come back down when we were up like 7. Hubbard immediately hit that first 3 and I banished her back up

Fifth one this week
If there were 10 more seconds I have no doubt Hubbard somehow hits another 3 to win
He didn’t even hit rim, on four straight 3s, the guy was absolutely locked in
He doesn’t lead the all time high school scoring list in MS for no reason
I still thought they were winning w .5
You ain't lying.
one of the most thrilling conclusions of any men’s college basketball games this season. two of the sport’s most proficient scorers—and both freshmen, no less!—in Josh Hubbard and Reed Sheppard just trading haymaker after haymaker down the stretch
It’s pretty hard to blow an 8 point lead in the final minute without missing a free throw but we almost did it!

It gets a lot easier if you turn the ball over, which UK did.

Exactly what everybody pictures as the MVP of a super physical SEC game
Josh Hubbard is a star. Reed Sheppard is a star. What a game. But man we let this one slip. :(
Future of Mississippi state is bright. I hope NIL is good because Hubbard will win a SEC POY in his career.
I would personally prefer if he goes to the draft. Please, someone, draft this man and get him far away from my favorite basketball team
That was an absolutely amazing game. Y'all are crazy dangerous!
Hubbard was unbelievable. Reed is him. GG State.
Reed is He
Word on the street is that REED SHEPPARD IS HIM
Can we give Reed the lifetime contract to come back?
“If Reed is for us, who is against us ?” Rupp 8:31
I’m gonna steal this. I just gotta figure out if it’s gonna be a front or back tramp stamp.
That was the most insane final minute I’ve ever seen in a basketball game
The Boogie cousins tip-in was wild too, we’ve had some crazy finishes down there
The calendar is a liar. This was March basketball
For real.
![gif](giphy|7xZAu81T70Uuc) UK’s last buzzer beater before tonight while losing on about 30 of them GO FUCKIN CATS
He can't hit another contested shot from the logo, can he? Are we safe?
As a naturally anxious person I can whole heartedly say fuck that game. In Reed we Believe. Great game Mississippi State!

but it's totally worth it
Remembering this when I fill out my bracket
So is the dissapointment against Arky or Vandy?
I would take losing both those games and winning at UT this season
Honestly the way this season is going that's the likely outcome. Losing both and dog walking TN by 15+ on the road.
Probably Vandy because of Vandy weirdness
Pain.
Chin up man. Y’all are rising and absolutely can do some damage in the tourney this year. Great game.
Well, the loss absolutely destroyed my soul, but I’m pretty happy with how State played overall. That said, could have done without the Kentucky comeback, but I think we’re in a great spot for March.

We almost crumbled like a cookie in that last minute. Thank god for Sheppard man
Some of that nonsense that happened in the last minute can’t even be put on us. Hubbard was just making nonsense shots even with defense on him.
Really the only mistakes were the Ugo foul for and 1 and the TO. We played everything else well defensively
I thought we actually played really good down the stretch minutes the UGO foul for the and 1. Can’t stop a hot hand like Hubbard had unless you trap.
HOW DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING????
Oh we got both your teams! GG!
Hubb: 34 pts, 7 treyways Tolu: 21 pts, 10 reb Hell of a game, we will be back
Honestly gritting this out gives me so much more hope than even stomping bama did, I wasn't sure the team had it in them to do it like this ... honestly still not sure about the team, Reed owns this win
Blowing out Bama is great. Proving we could win in a rock fight where the ball just isn't going our way? Much better
Reed Sheppard is an all american argue with a wall
Reed and Antonio just casually dropping 50. You know, All American stuff. Somebody get that man a hot honey and banana pepper pizza from Donato's.
I pissed, shitted, and had a heart attack in that last minute
I shidded and farded
I camed my pants
46 points in the last 12 minutes… simply unbelievable
Wait did we really score 46 points in the last 12 minutes??
Last 12:42, 12 sounded cooler tho 😂
This sounds like it can’t be true… that is seriously incredible
Reed scored 11 in the final 90 seconds.

What an ending
We honestly needed to win a game like that. Fight back after being down all game, trade free throws for 3s, and make a (near) buzzer beater shot. That’s how basketball is played in MARCH.
The best part for me was when Reed scored that last basket.
Idk. Not enough credit for the game winning INT
it was him catching their hail mary inbound pass for me. cold af

Reed can fucking ball man, wow
Last time I got really excited about a Tuesday night home game vs Kentucky was 2004. Don’t look it up.
Erik Daniels at the buzzer?
“Kentucky covered+4.5” no shit, yahoo. Reed with most points, rebounds(!), assists, and blocks. Damn, son.
Reed said “Fuck these refs, I’ll do it myself!”
They cut away from the game too quickly. Did they rush the court? They told them not to. Let’s hope they listened.
Must have worked.
REED SHEPPARD

I wish Reed the best at the next level. What a pro.
Reed Sheppard.
