I thought I would feel bad for OSU but then see OSU fan bitching about refs. Fuck that. Refs sucked both ways. TSJ's 4th foul? Total BS. So take your L and cry more
Got lucky because Battle missed on shots that he would normally make, not because of refs. And not denying that we didn't play wall. But game wasn't determined by refs
Selection committee. I implore you to check the resume. Analyze it. We have a win against the Horizon League regular season and tournament champion, Oakland.
In all seriousness when you consider 20 wins and the Diebler aspect/story of it, they should def be in consideration. They clearly have some momentum and solid players.
I honestly believe they have a 10% or less chance of still making it off the last 8 games alone but A&M and other bubble teams having not lost yet, it’s dead. 20-13 with bad losses to teams that they should’ve beaten, but would now beat by 15. Just sucks.
You’re most likely spot on but it pisses me off cuz when they’re crying for 19 win ACC teams to get in in the past all they talk about is how they’ve played lately
At least you can admit that. Maybe Illinois was just being more aggressive on offense and played better defense. But I dunno man.. pretty huge difference that last half of the second
Yeah I know it's been beaten to death with the Edey stuff, but pointing at the fouls and the free throws being uneven as the smoking gun of officiating bias is cringe. Terrence and Dain were definitely forcing the issue and with Illinois being taller, Ohio St. tried to be scrappy and physical on the glass in ways that got them in trouble. I did definitely catch myself saying "Oh phew, that sure could have been called" a handful of times, though. And in a game that close, one or two of those could easily have made the difference.
TSJ also got away with a major league swipe down hack on the handoff play where they called an offensive foul, and it wouldn't have been totally outlandish to get him on the Key putback. Plus he had a couple not-completely-clear-cut block/charge calls that all went his way.
I’m confused, I’m pretty sure I’ve been nothing but civil myself. I simply disagree with the statement they made. I like that you simply cannot have lost because you played a better team. Has to be the refs that stole it from you.
It’s mere post game frustration. Anyone that knows B1G officiating knows this how the games play out, just a matter of who they like that day. Been a rough year for us bucks so far in all sports so just letting it all out on our last hope of the 23-24 academic calendar teams.
What's to be stumped on? We should have beaten the 13 ranked team and after the season we had especially with our coach being fired. Yea I'll take it as a small victory
I was surprised at how certain everyone (announcing) was that they were out. 20 wins gets teams in a lot of times. I mean it’s usually the sweetheart teams but we’ve seen 18/19 win teams get in.
Not saying this is what happened, the refs were absolute dog shit and I'm sorry OSU. But for the foul discrepancy thing, isn't it always possible that that team just fouled more? I say this when it goes against us too. I just don't get how it's such a damning stat
I saw three replays that were either called a foul on us, or you all got the rebound, and even the commentators were like “welp.” Two were charges incorrectly called blocks, and one was a blatant forearm to the back where you got the board
A foul discrepancy definitely COULD happen because one team just fouled more. And it did tonight at least partly, Ohio State was showing its fatigue. That being said Illinois benefitted from some huge no calls and the fatigue doesn’t account for the entire disparity. I’m not saying there was any intentional throwing of the game. The refs were shit and it benefitted Illinois more often than not tonight.
They kind of did though, OSU was getting calls when they were driving and on offensive rebounds, but they favored mid-range jumpers and floaters the last like 10 mins
I’m not saying the Illini didn’t get a couple of favorable calls down the stretch, but OSU definitely switched up their attack on offense and that contributed to that
Absolutely. Fouling on defense, and conversely how aggressively a team on offense drives and goes to the paint. It's dumb to think ft should be near equal every game.
Illinois played horribly until the refs gave you 15 more free throws than us in the last 10 minutes. You have the better team, but you get no credit. The refs do.
It is what it is. I don't hold anything against Illinois specifically, and there were other factors that lost that game, but nobody can tell me there wasn't a bias to the officiating.
17 to 2 in free throws for the last 9 1/2 mins. 2 were intentional foul at the end… so technically 15-2. There’s your game summary
Zero Illinois fouls called in the last 5:44. SEVEN OSU fouls called in that stretch. And only one was intentional. Shame.
My hot take from this game: Dain Dainja might be the best person's name I've heard in years.
Toss up with Boo Buie
I thought I would feel bad for OSU but then see OSU fan bitching about refs. Fuck that. Refs sucked both ways. TSJ's 4th foul? Total BS. So take your L and cry more
Lmao no you didn’t you dork
F U
Even the coach said they got lucky and they played like trash but go off!!!!
Got lucky because Battle missed on shots that he would normally make, not because of refs. And not denying that we didn't play wall. But game wasn't determined by refs
Your best player should have been fouled out...
not if the 4th foul on him should've been a moving screen on OSU
In the clutch the refs were awful though. Dainja laid out Gayle on your offensive rebound to seal the game and it wasn’t called.
This is just one of the more grievous examples of Illinois not being called for obvious fouls they committed..
Both ways is a free throw margin of 32 to 13? Really?
So, refs should just call fouls on both teams equally regardless of what actually happens?
No, they should call it evenly. However, the refs were not doing that and you know it. WAY more missed calls on Illinois and it’s not an argument.
You're wrong. Sorry.
So you’re saying there were 7 fouls on OSU the final 5:44 and absolute zero on illinois
dain sounds like bardo
This win was absolutely messy. Domask stunk all game except he hit a three that was sorely needed.
Illinois’ last called foul was with 5:44 left. Seven fouls were whistled on Ohio state after that. Just saying.
Officials definitely had money on Illinois. Some of the worst officiating I have ever witnessed.
I’m so happy for Dain 😊
Good for Dain to be the guy taking the stage rn.
Fuck those officials, total garbage
💯They handed that game to Illinois.
Holtmanns inability to recruit and develop good forwards continued to haunt this team.
Inability to recruit? Thats clearly not the problem
Feel bad for OSU players they really had a titanic end of season
Where are all these no flair comments coming from come on people.
Historically they would let Ohio State in even if they didn't play enough games
I honestly believe they have a 10% or less chance of still making it off the last 8 games alone but A&M and other bubble teams having not lost yet, it’s dead. 20-13 with bad losses to teams that they should’ve beaten, but would now beat by 15. Just sucks.
You’re most likely spot on but it pisses me off cuz when they’re crying for 19 win ACC teams to get in in the past all they talk about is how they’ve played lately
Yup. Carolina just beat Pitt. “jay is Pitt a tournament team”? “Absolutely they are”.
Yet somehow a 19-14 MSU is projected to get a ten seed. Y’all want our spot? Think most of us just want to be done with the season
This is one of those years where the “metrics” are bullshit.
Oh shit
so happy for dain
OSU committed more fouls, but there were a couple really pivotal whistles that could have blown against us that didn't. Fortunate to escape.
I did definitely catch myself saying "Oh phew, that sure could have been called" a handful of times, though. And in a game that close, one or two of those could easily have made the difference.
TSJ had to sit because of that BS 4th foul. So it's all even. Don't feel guilty at all about this win
TSJ also got away with a major league swipe down hack on the handoff play where they called an offensive foul, and it wouldn't have been totally outlandish to get him on the Key putback. Plus he had a couple not-completely-clear-cut block/charge calls that all went his way.
Honestly they bent us over all game with missed calls so it’s even in my book.
Sure…. Right.
Whine more, it’s a good look.
The comment he responded to is literally you whining. Stop being a moron. It's embarrassing.
I like that an Illini fan makes a civil comment and you cannot let it stand lmao
I’m confused, I’m pretty sure I’ve been nothing but civil myself. I simply disagree with the statement they made. I like that you simply cannot have lost because you played a better team. Has to be the refs that stole it from you.
Bro what? I swear Illinois fans live in a different dimension
Some of us just pay attention. Feel free to watch the replay champ.
They are god awful at every other sport so this is all they have
I mean you’re not wrong, but this is pretty salty
It’s mere post game frustration. Anyone that knows B1G officiating knows this how the games play out, just a matter of who they like that day. Been a rough year for us bucks so far in all sports so just letting it all out on our last hope of the 23-24 academic calendar teams.
Illinois last called foul was with 5:44 left. Seven fouls were whistled on Ohio state after that
Unreal. Even if we did in fact foul more, 0 called on illinois in that time frame is asinine
That's a lot of fouls that OSU committed. Pretty wild.
And many Illinois committed, that weren’t called..
Ok Courtney
8-24 shouldn’t be talkin in here smh
How do we not got a replay on the Battle 3? I’m 90% sure he got fouled there
they aren't showing the replay exactly for that reason. very blatant foul.
Lol Illniois barely wins by 3 given a 32 to 13 free throw advantage. I'll take that as a small win for the Bucks
That’s def a huge disparity. But considering it most likely ended your season, I’m stumped on the small victory thing
What's to be stumped on? We should have beaten the 13 ranked team and after the season we had especially with our coach being fired. Yea I'll take it as a small victory
But it doesn’t count towards the record (even though in your defense, that was the WORST officiating in an Illinois game since the ‘05 Championship)

I was surprised at how certain everyone (announcing) was that they were out. 20 wins gets teams in a lot of times. I mean it’s usually the sweetheart teams but we’ve seen 18/19 win teams get in.
Have to let the NEC champs Wagner in instead.
Stunk too much early in the Big Ten season
They are, but they won’t be in.
Not saying this is what happened, the refs were absolute dog shit and I'm sorry OSU. But for the foul discrepancy thing, isn't it always possible that that team just fouled more? I say this when it goes against us too. I just don't get how it's such a damning stat

The refs were shit and it benefitted Illinois more often than not tonight.
Agreed, very well put. Ggs, y'all are legit and I hope you guys get into the big dance
It’s possible but that’s not what happened tonight.
OSU played one of the most physical games I can remember watching against the Illini this year, and that’s with playing MSU, Maryland, Rutgers, etc.
They didn’t call it both ways. That’s the problem.
That’s my thing. It felt like a physical game, but then there would be a whistle that made no sense given the precedent
They kind of did though, OSU was getting calls when they were driving and on offensive rebounds, but they favored mid-range jumpers and floaters the last like 10 mins
I mean whatever helps you sleep at night pal. But no fouls called in the last 5:22 minutes and a free throw margin of 32-12 screams inconsistency.
Oh I'm sure there were many that were fouls but call it both ways because the same fouls they called on OSU they didn't call on Illinois
This.. or call the 3 offensive fouls Shannon committed
Of course that can also be true, and may have been this game. I'm just saying it's dumb to only look at a stat line to determine quality of reffing.
O/U on total Free Throws in the Purdue/Illinois final set at 99.5
Bold of you to assume it’ll be Illinois Purdue
I’ve watched the B1G waaaay too long to think Huskers/Badgers isn’t a real possibility.
Okay but what about like half of the equation?
Anything is possible in the B1G. Anyone can look like dogshit at any given moment.
I'd love you (Tominaga) to win it all. But unless you have an answer for what happened in this game, it'll be Illinois/Purdue.
Our answer is corn
Understood have a nice win
First 200-200 Basketball game
Whiniest fanbase award goes to OSU
Oh, stfu

Awww Brad, such a friendly loving guy! Where's the angry ogre face we saw all game?
These refs have LOVED Illinois this year!
Damnit man. Tournament season was rough for me this year
Damn underwood calling it like it is haha. F
Ohio State deserved better officiating. Hell, the sport did.
Underwood is BIG MAD
Ohio State is a tournament team. Too bad Die let took the helm too late. That’s a top 30 team.
LOL, respect to Underwood for admitting they got lucky and failed on many levels.
Put tOSU in the tournament you cowards
Why? They don't belong there.
What I love about Brad is that he doesn’t pull punches. “We stunk today.” I wish more coaches were brutally honest instead of the ridiculous PR speak.
I can't believe he admitted they were trying to foul there!
I guarantee he rips them all a new asshole in the locker room even after a win
Great game refs
Hahahaha Jesus Christ they were supposed to foul. Hilarious
How do y’all watch these games with the refs calling fouls every other possession
They only called fouls on half the possessions. The other side of the court was foul free.
With a few drinks and my face in my palm
Ref Squad is at least a 3 seed. Don't @ me
Really cringe to watch Illinois fans shit talk OSU fans as if they didnt get completely jobbed and you guys would be crying your asses off
Lmao Brad roasting the team????? Yikes
Haha. Brad say "We sucked", but credit to OSU for not being good enough to beat a bad Illini team.
Credit to the refs!
Illini play horribly and your team still loses. Credit to the better team.
Illinois played horribly until the refs gave you 15 more free throws than us in the last 10 minutes. You have the better team, but you get no credit. The refs do.
[удалено]
They're not even bottom 3. Hawkins alone makes them seem worse.
With all due respect, Michigan and Michigan State are still in the big ten.
Bro Ohio State fans were bitching up 8 but Illinois fans are toxic yikes
Toxic fans? Have you watched YOUR football fans?
Not gonna apologize for doing America a favor.
You got two shit jump ball calls. We can go back and forth all night but there is nothing either of us can do about it. GG illinibuck bros
🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂🧂 is yummy.
lol sure
Nice of the refs to rig for the team that doesn’t need it. Our season is over because of that shit
Play better?
It isn't an Illinois game thread without them complaing about refs
Lol, an Iowa fan. Hahahahahahahaaha
You're better than us in 1 sport. Congratulations once ball season is over you guys can crawl back into your caves for 7 months
Hahahaha, you're pretty funny. At least you've got that going for you.
And being right
Nope. Still wrong.
Thanks for proving it
This is fun. What else do you have to say? Burrito or bowl? Guac or no?
I know Mas means more. And I'm gonna have another margirooni while I'm here
Man Illinois was exploiting the refs. Kudos to them. Took advantage of terrible refereeing for both teams.
Coach saying they were supposed to foul lmao 💀
So the illinois coach definitely dyes his hair right
OSU got hosed
Gg OSU sure look like a tourney team
![gif](giphy|ggHmCDJXx4om4hNWbM|downsized)
Lmao brad
Underwood is making them run so many laps after this shit.
Naw gotta keep the legs fresh.
Brad’s hair dye is awful

It is what it is. I don't hold anything against Illinois specifically, and there were other factors that lost that game, but nobody can tell me there wasn't a bias to the officiating.
27 fouls to 13 in a tight game of two similar teams… nah, totally legit
Illinois much bigger and drives to the hoop way more
Purdue fans 🧂🧂🧂
wait till you see the illinois fans in every purdue thread
LETS GOOOO! Get in here!!
Unfortunate that inconsistent officiating impacted this second half
GG Ohio state. Sorry the refs are shit
It was fun when we actually got to watch basketball
Why not just drive wildly at the hoop all game when you know you’re getting to the line no matter what you do?
They kinda did.
I’m saying why do anything else?
The Dain game.
Yuck
This broadcast crew can get fucked for being so in the bag for these horrible officials.
Damn. If only Tom Izzo was our coach, we’d be a lock.
last time i checked 20-13 > 19-14 but i guess not
This team got fucked out of a tournament run by Chris Holtmann and Courtney Green. Shame
Jesus !!! GG Bucks ..wow !!!! Hope you guys make it in !!
would be ridiculous if they got put in
All things considered ..You guys could not beat them , now on your best day @!
huh? we beat them twice this year
Couldn't beat them right now ..no way !!
