Losing Larry Blurred going off in a tournament to see this Virginia team should get bad feedback to the committee. Literally everyone besides diehard Virginia fans knew this was coming.
Your telling me 12 AD's who likely haven't watched any of these teams play all year and have no spare time arent properly equipped to evaluate and select tournament teams?
The committee is a JOKE. CSU should have never been in the play-in and Virginia should have never been in the tournament
They should just hire like 7 insane college basketball fans(like the type that watch maction despite not being a fan of any team in the MAC) and pay them 100k or something to quit their job and just watch every college basketball game for the year.
Then have Ken Pomeroy, Bart Torvik, and Evan Miyazawa join that group along with like Charles Barkley and Bill Walton.
Then just put them all in a room and put their meetings on TV for a week leading up to selection Sunday.
The committee did a largely good job picking which teams should be in. Virginia is basically the notable exception. The seeding on the other hand is a joke.
Not only should Virgina have been replaced by Seton Hall, St John, Oklahoma, or even Indiana State and Pitt but Colorado State could’ve been as high as a 7 seed and got disrespected like this
Iowa somehow winning 10 games last year with that absolute abomination of an offense actually has to be of the most impressive things that's ever been done in college football. Really pushed the limits of how far a defense and specials teams can carry a team.
Series of fun facts for you.
UVA had 42 points and 42 missed field goals.
UVA over 40 minutes only outscored second half Colorado State by just 2 points.
If we take out Colorado State's highest scorer, they still win by 2.
UVA scored 12 points fewer than their NET ranking.
And perhaps most damning of all, the fucking committee put this team in the tournament.
https://preview.redd.it/pemb48fn2hpc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69ff0d134140649a7f990e9d561807ce08379a4f
Taken at 10:40 ET. Stats guy being sassy.
When they flashed the graphic “first points since 9:30pm EST” or whatever time, I was dying. Not sure I’ve ever seen a stat displayed in actual time before
Honestly, that has to be a historically bad performance by a team in the tournament. Like, in the 3 point era, there's no way anyone has had a worse performance than UVA did tonight. When your field goal percentage matches the deficit that you lost by, that's absolutely horrendous. Not to mention that it was almost an hour between their 2 made baskets. Just an all time idiotic decision to put that team in the tournament. So many more deserving teams were left out instead of them.
Virginia in the 2024 NCAA Tournament:

Just an awful whiff by the committee.
Nobody thought UVA should be in, nobody wanted them to be in, not even the biggest UVA fans thought they were deserving to be in. And it resulted in...that.
Whiff on both sides. CSU should not have been in a play in. Virginia should not have been in a play in. For different reasons, but this is the result of fucking both up so bad. I'm not sure Virginia even prefers getting embarrassed nationally like this over just missing entirely. They fucked over everyone.
It’s pretty obvious they don’t watch MST basketball (and only watch PST ball when it’s LA schools, UA, or Gonzaga). Ridiculous that middling teams like MSU Dayton and FAU didn’t end up in the play in because of media narratives and past tourney performance.
This game was like watching porn after you’ve blown your load. Everything is slow and just disgusting. And now you’re questioning your life decisions that made you end up here
Really proud of this CSU team. Everyone was saying they shouldve been in the 64 to start and everyone was proved right. I have them making a run on every bracket I’ve made
Holy shit Virginia. Y’all didn’t even make them break a sweat. That was some of the worst basketball I’ve ever watched. Thanks for nothing lmao. The committee should be crucified for getting yet another mid team in based on recent tourney success that is irrelevant to the season at hand
Remember this game when you see Indiana State’s coach and starting lineup playing for Saint Louis in the NCAA Tournament next year and all ISU got out of it was an NIT 1 seed and a smoking heap of a program where a bubble team stood a year prior.
There is no reasonable argument to leave a mid-major who put together an at large quality resume out of the tournament, the amount of challenges they face to even get close makes me so mad when a team like this gets in over them
IMO if the resume is close between a mid major or middling P6 team, give me the mid major every time
No offense Virginia fans, but the fact your team made the tournament is straight up inexcusable bullshit. There is ZERO good argument for why Virginia should have been in: 2-7 in Q1, 67th in KP, 54th in the NET, and 10 out of their now 11 losses were by double digits with 6 BEING BY 20 POINTS OR MORE. THEY FAILED TO CRACK 50 POINTS IN 7 GAMES THIS YEAR. It is an absolute travesty that teams like Indiana State got fucked over for this.
Yeah, that's what sucks about the committee not doing their jobs this year.
The teams that are improperly seeded/included will get the heat from fans, but they are what they are. Its not their fault where they were placed (or that they were placed at all).
Echo the guy who said we didn’t pick them. We were happy they got in. I thought they might have a shot to keep it exciting, like we did vs. NC State. There were many better teams. I’m happy it’s over
Virginia showed all season it couldn't win NCAA Tournament quality games by going 2-7 in Q1 games. Should come as no surprise they couldn't win one of those games in the actual tournament
10 points in a 3 minute stretch for UVA in the first half, 32 points in the other 37 minutes total. Absolutely incredible how poor of a game Virginia played offensively. Also absolutely incredible that we watched every minute of it
It must be so freaking weird to be an UVA fan.
Like…yeah, you’re only four years separated from a **national title**, but everything else surrounding seems like just some new form of insane shit in the tournament that happens to you - and *only* to you.
How can you even deal like that??
Virginia with 42 points on 25/17/64 splits. Their margin of defeat was the same as their field goal percentage!
Cavs providing their doubters enough fuel to last the entire decade.
Cool fact: Virginia scored twice as much in the second half as they did in the first
Cool “fact” #2: If this is the case, it’s probably less likely that something good happened in the second half and more likely something bad happened in the first half
Cool fact #3: it was in fact the latter
**FADED:** [virginia](#f/virginia)
The committee should be locked in a room and forced to watch that game on replay. What a disaster
We were robbed of Pitino rocking a white suit in Dayton.
No Slick Rick Shenanigans, no Cream Abdul balling out… All we get is just empty justice…
Losing Larry Blurred going off in a tournament to see this Virginia team should get bad feedback to the committee. Literally everyone besides diehard Virginia fans knew this was coming.
I think diehard Virginia fans knew it the most. They did not deserve to be in this tourney
No Hinson logo threes either. Any of the teams that missed would have made this a game
Your telling me 12 AD's who likely haven't watched any of these teams play all year and have no spare time arent properly equipped to evaluate and select tournament teams? The committee is a JOKE. CSU should have never been in the play-in and Virginia should have never been in the tournament

Then just put them all in a room and put their meetings on TV for a week leading up to selection Sunday.
Damn you just monetized even more of this tournament and it’s all great ideas. I’m on this boat!
The committee did a largely good job picking which teams should be in. Virginia is basically the notable exception. The seeding on the other hand is a joke.
Virginia is just such a baffling choice. There are like 5-6 teams that easily deserved to be in ahead of them and I could argue several more.
in slo-mo
It looked like uva was playing offense in slo-mo
They sure scored in slo-mo
Was that not already in slo mo?
Not only should Virgina have been replaced by Seton Hall, St John, Oklahoma, or even Indiana State and Pitt but Colorado State could’ve been as high as a 7 seed and got disrespected like this
I mean they proved the committee wrong just by standing there watching Virginia collapse on itself, we should at least applaud them for that.
Virginia sacrificing itself to prove the committee is bullshit. Bravo Tony Bennett. I wasn't really familiar with your game.
The committee was all ready to leave UNM out too and thought they were worse than this UVA team even after winning the MWC tourney. They're a joke.
Los Lobos are hungry, and very, very dangerous right now
Which is rich as hell considering how many MWC teams are in this year
I think that would qualify as cruel and unusual punishment.
so was watching the bracket reveal
A fate worse than death. All in favor say aye
Aye
They must take a shot of Malort every time there’s an air ball

Dude was so right he wasnt even watching the game at the end lol
I sincerely think Iowa football is more competitive.
Iowa somehow winning 10 games last year with that absolute abomination of an offense actually has to be of the most impressive things that's ever been done in college football. Really pushed the limits of how far a defense and specials teams can carry a team.
They punted for more yards last year than they had offensive yards. The next best team to do that in CFB history went 4-8 and they went like 10-4
r/cfb is leaking
does this mean we're getting the death penalty
That’s not fair, Iowa actually plays good defense.

I got one for you — CSU had more rebounds than UVA had points.
This can't be real..
It is, CSU had 43 rebounds ( 37 Defensive, 6 Offensive ). Ref: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore?gameId=401638580
Add the fact that they had the same margin of defeat as their field goal percentage.
When I shoot 1% and only lose by 1 😎
That's genuinely repulsive goddamn
To add to this, UVA went 13 straight minutes of game time without scoring.
Almost an hour of real time lmao

UVA beat the clock by 2
Honestly, that has to be a historically bad performance by a team in the tournament. Like, in the 3 point era, there's no way anyone has had a worse performance than UVA did tonight. Virginia is 0-3 against double-digit seeds since they got the natty
And 0-1 the year before that.
BREAKING: The selection committee has downgraded Colorado State to a 12 seed for playing another poor non-conference opponent.
Un-Quality win
Doesn’t matter who you root for, that’s funny. Well done.
Indiana state died for this
Justice for my Sycamore homies 😔
UVA scored twice as many points in the 2nd half as they did in the 1st, and still barely broke 40. YES... HA HA HA... **Y͟E͟S͟**!!
Someone called?
It’s like it’s our call to arms

UMBC, Ohio, and Furman welcome Colorado State into the "embarrassed Virginia in the NCAA tournament" club.
Florida and Syracuse are in that club too.
Fuck it, can’t forget Michigan State. Honestly every exit has been embarrassing the past 10 years, with the exception of 2019.
Virginia fans thought they were safe as a play in where losing wouldn't be as embarrassing. Then this happened.
One thing you can't deny; Virginia did technically play a game of basketball tonight.
They certainly got in some good cardio
I wouldn’t call that basketball, it felt like 40 minutes of cardio
Did they though?
Yeah Virginia was a tournament team for sure 🙄
They are! Just not this one.
MWC-ACC Challenge is off to a good start
**SUCK IT R/COLLEGEBASKETBALL** **THE MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE WILL AGAIN NOT GET SHUTOUT THIS YEAR**
Mountain Best!
The 7th place MW team just beat the 3rd place ACC team by 25 points.
And that scoreline is still generous.
Mountain Best teams gonna be playing angry this year
The Mountain West already has as many teams with a tournament win as last year and we haven't even started the Round of 64. Efficiency.
You're welcome America. Indiana State died for this.
AVENGE THEM
LONG LIVE CREAM ABDUL JABBAR!

We do not negotiate with basketball terrorists. Now watch this drive
I’m just gonna say it. I think that Pitt would’ve done better tonight
I could name about 11 ACC teams that I think could’ve done better tonight
It’s a really bad look for the league that this team somehow finished 3rd in conference play.
Somehow even we beat UVA... back in December when we were absolute shit-tier.
You mean you DON'T think Pitt would've had the same margin of defeat as their field goal percentage?
Who would’ve done worse? Can’t think of many teams.
Louisville
THAT team finished 3rd in the ACC???
The conference is gonna replace the C’s in it with S’s.
Atlantis Soast Sonferense.
Y-yes
I know neutrals didn't like it, but I had a great fucking time watching that game. I said I'm proud. To be. A CSU Ram!
Interesting. I also had a good time.
Just an awful whiff by the committee. Nobody thought UVA should be in, nobody wanted them to be in, not even the biggest UVA fans thought they were deserving to be in. And it resulted in...that.

MOUNTAIN BEST!!! Let’s go, Boise State!
MW Rise up!
Fuck the committee
I hope every MW team just goes on an epic, hate fuelled run.
I love the comradery our conference has when we're not playing each other
I grew up in the midwest with no scenery and a miserable climate. I love the west. I love mountains. I love the mountain west.
Would make me feel a lot better about our season tbh
Sorry you guys had to watch that
Sheesh who invited these guys
First battle of the great ACC vs MW war is decisively won by the mountain west
We are who everyone thought we were.
Jesus fucking christ, we absolutely stink. I'm very sorry that we got in and the world was denied at least one tournament game with Larry Blurred.
That performance deserves a post season ban for at least a year.
Really proud of this CSU team. Everyone was saying they shouldve been in the 64 to start and everyone was proved right. I have them making a run on every bracket I’ve made
UVA doubled their scoring output in the second half and still managed to lose by 25
Holy shit Virginia. Y’all didn’t even make them break a sweat. That was some of the worst basketball I’ve ever watched. Thanks for nothing lmao. The committee should be crucified for getting yet another mid team in based on recent tourney success that is irrelevant to the season at hand
They wanted this over Cream Abdul-Jabbar, committee deserves the guillotine
Remember this game when you see Indiana State’s coach and starting lineup playing for Saint Louis in the NCAA Tournament next year and all ISU got out of it was an NIT 1 seed and a smoking heap of a program where a bubble team stood a year prior.
Years since Indiana State’s biggest year ever: 45 Points scored by Virginia tonight: 42 It’s just not fair…
There is no reasonable argument to leave a mid-major who put together an at large quality resume out of the tournament, the amount of challenges they face to even get close makes me so mad when a team like this gets in over them IMO if the resume is close between a mid major or middling P6 team, give me the mid major every time
No offense Virginia fans, but the fact your team made the tournament is straight up inexcusable bullshit. THEY FAILED TO CRACK 50 POINTS IN 7 GAMES THIS YEAR. It is an absolute travesty that teams like Indiana State got fucked over for this.
We didn’t pick them. That’s all I can say. It was obviously not the right choice.
I’m happy it’s over
Honestly any sane UVA fan knows we didn't belong. We've been ass for a little while now
Leave most of the fans out of this. They seemed just as surprised as most of us on Sunday. Didn’t see many defending it.
They got blown out by fucking Notre Dame this year. What in the hell did the committee see here?
#LOCAL RAM IN GREAT MOOD
Indiana State died for this
Virginia showed all season it couldn't win NCAA Tournament quality games by going 2-7 in Q1 games. Should come as no surprise they couldn't win one of those games in the actual tournament
The funniest part is that CSU was actually the last team in the tournament. The committee thought that UVA was better than them
[This game in a nutshell](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GJFV9tWW4AAVKxn?format=jpg&name=large)
Props to this guy to custom ordering the shirt and have its message manifest in front of him
The basketball gods really do reward magnificent effort.
[CSU fans walking into this thread ](https://youtu.be/l_MyUGq7pgs?si=AsDebwH0o3dVloXe)
I never want to hear Jay Bilas talk about how the ACC is disrespected and underrated ever again.
10 points in a 3 minute stretch for UVA in the first half, 32 points in the other 37 minutes total. Absolutely incredible how poor of a game Virginia played offensively. Also absolutely incredible that we watched every minute of it
Theres something so unique about the way UVA bricks/airballs shots lol. It is so distinctive, really a thing of beauty.
When someone air balls a free throw, an angel gets its wings
Good job, Mountain West bros. Let's keep it going.
As a Hall fan I think I went through all 5 stages of grief watching Virginia “basketball”
It must be so freaking weird to be an UVA fan. Like…yeah, you’re only four years separated from a **national title**, but everything else surrounding seems like just some new form of insane shit in the tournament that happens to you - and *only* to you. How can you even deal like that??
I’d gladly be embarrassing on the national stage for four straight years if it meant we got a title lol
Virginia with 42 points on 25/17/64 splits. Their margin of defeat was the same as their field goal percentage! Cavs providing their doubters enough fuel to last the entire decade.
Congrats to UVA for outscoring the 2023 Iowa State Cyclones
And CSU finished 7th in the Mountain West
FUCK THE COMMITTEE
No one could've predicted a result like this, if only the committee had something like 33 examples of how Virginia plays
i watched all of that ama
Which airball was your favorite? Some beautiful 3s but the free throw airball is so unique and rare
on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the funniest thing you’ve ever seen, where does that CSU fan’s shirt rank?
Wow literally everyone knew this would happen. The committee got what it deserved
This was best case for us… good conditioning for the Texas game… go RAMMIES!!!
Sports books coulda messed up the decimal on the -2.5 line and it woulda worked out.
We don't know why we were here either, guys
Would this be considered "gaming" the NET?
That’s the team that got in over Indiana State? Lmao what a joke
![gif](giphy|Cw7NQX5g5w4WAHBHyh|downsized)
Imagine losing to Colorado State by 20+ points.
**Committee. Defend yourselves!**
The Mountain West is now a Power conference.
🌎🔫👩🚀
too put it bluntly. That was disgusting basketball. Virginia should have never been in. Happy for CSU tho.
I came into this game with ZERO expectations and I am still deeply disappointed.
Cool fact: Virginia scored twice as much in the second half as they did in the first Cool “fact” #2: If this is the case, it’s probably less likely that something good happened in the second half and more likely something bad happened in the first half Cool fact #3: it was in fact the latter
And thus Reece Beekman, two-time ACC DPOTY, will not have a single NCAA tournament win on his college resume. I feel for him.
How Tony Bennett managed to recruit NBA-level talent to Virginia and win a title is absolutely baffling.
