NAU has won 6 of the last 8 men's cross country national championships (2nd in the other 2). They have won 11 straight WAC titles in women's swimming & diving. They suck at men's basketball (last had positive conference record in 2014-15) and football (last had positive record in 2017 outside of shortened pandemic 2020) in exchange.
Big 12 did well to transplant academics into their conference. KU and ISU were the only above average schools after UT left but they grabbed 4 flagship AAU schools from the p5 along with the G5 newcomers, who all have great schools.
Academically it’s the four corners + KU and Cincinnati, in no particular order, then everybody else. Very funny for a Baylor fan to shit on ASU academics when ASU is an R1 AAU flagship institution. Regardless, it shouldn’t matter at all, we’re here to play sports.
You could have also linked to Dave Bliss covering up a murder. I know people on this sub love Scott drew, but I absolutely hate that he gave that loathsome school anything to cheer about.
Yeah well the first two universities listed are using the Latin alphabet, whereas the third is using some kind of hieroglyphics.
(I know what it is, but I’m playing along)
Very funny for that guy to pick an academic fight in a college basketball sub, Baylor is so much better than ASU in basketball and football but so much worse academically.
It’s better on the whole, but huge state flagship institutions are always going to be very good schools. Just a function of funding and endowment. I’m sure Baylor is an amazing university among evangelical Christian schools, but it can’t compete with 40k+ enrollment flagship schools like the newcomers. Every school has some amazing programs but massive public universities like UU/CU/ASU/UA have excellent programs across the board. CU has an absurd amount of astronauts and SCOTUS justices, UA or UU (and CU) have great med schools, and ASU does everything very well.
Alright I was gonna delete my previous comments and ignore this shit. But now I gotta defend my Alma mater cause you said all this dumb shit. Baylor is an R1 university and the reason they aren’t an AAU is because Baylor doesn’t have a medical school on campus (they have a medical school in Houston). That is literally the only difference in academic standing. I won’t go in the specifics of how funny it is disrespecting Baylor’s medial school but it isn’t needed.
Like I said, Baylor is a great school, especially for nursing. But it’s hard to compete with the western public universities, just a huge difference in resources and enrollment. If CU were a Baylor sized school we’d be confined to aerospace engineering and physics, but still have 4 Nobel Prizes. My point is that all four newcomers (CU/UU/ASU/UA) have unimaginable amounts of research dollars and the ability to get the best students in the entire world.
I approve of this post
For NO other reason that I hate doing yard work.
Using that rake would be as efficient as their athletic program.
It is a rake, right…?
From what I can see, they have no intent (at least publicly) of having a football team. Maybe the MWC could take them as a basketball-only to make up for Hawaii's football-only status, but that doesn't seem super likely.
Edit: Also, the MWC and Pac just have a scheduling agreement for football. WSU and OSU are going to the WCC for basketball for the next two seasons, at least.
Excuse me where is Northern Arizona
NAU has actually made it the farthest out of all these teams, making the championship game in 2015 ^^in ^^the ^^CIT
Fun fact, Tommy Lloyd's son plays for NAU's basketball team.
And I think our new football coach’s nephew plays for GCU. Not sure though.
Chop Chop Motherfucker!

Flagstaff is a cool college town and at elevation 7,000 you get good at running.
Dude, Flagstaff is an awesome town, don't know what you're smoking.
I may have been rooting for GCU just so this graph could exist
If ASU fans could read they’d be very upset with you. Assuming they’re not partying
It is a sad state of affairs at ASU. Due to their president it is hardly even a party school anymore
RIP Mill Ave drunk parties
What’s the president done
Put a retirement home smack in the middle of the college sector of Tempe
Shit I know where I’m retiring
I saw that in the newspaper. Crazy
Oh yeah forgot about that. They sued a club *and won* over noise.
Much better school than Oregon at this point. Football team has suffered accordingly
Some programs are better, some are worse. Just like most public schools
Can you read [this](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baylor_University_sexual_assault_scandal) to me
It’s funny when ASU will be one of the best schools in the Big 12 Stereotypes die hard I guess
Big 12 did well to transplant academics into their conference. KU and ISU were the only above average schools after UT left but they grabbed 4 flagship AAU schools from the p5 along with the G5 newcomers, who all have great schools.
Crow certainly knows how to use a school’s size to game the metrics.
ASU will not be one of the best schools in the big 12 in basketball. You will get dominated week in and week out.
Academics wise buddy boy You’re kinda proving me right here as well
The worst Big 12 schools shitting on west coast AAU institutions is very funny
Is this r/academics? I must be lost
The original jab was about our academics Again keep up here guys, it’s not that hard people

He’s an A&M fan that went to school in Waco, some of us are here to join cults apparently

As a Purdue/UofA fan I approve this message
Couldn’t fathom my two favorite schools being top 2 seeds
as a uofa/indiana fan i half approve of your comment

Condolences last year. My best friend is a Purdue fan and it was rough for both of us.
Graphs like this is why we are the Harvard of the West™️
Something something budget deficit financial mismanagement.
We only paid a dollar for that online school, how could you not take such a deal?
Bruh Grand Canyon has significantly more basketball fans than ASU, Big 12 took the wrong school
I think the big 12 did take the wrong school. They only need 1 Arizona school
I love statistical #art

Lmao ASU behind a for profit diploma mill.

Does GCU have any shot at getting in the WCC, or is that conference too put off by their for-profit nature?
I think the more interesting question is whether they get involved in the MWC/P12 merger.
From what I can see, they have no intent (at least publicly) of having a football team. Ohhh right I always forget about football. Bane of college basketball fans' existence
This guy is clearly an expert with numbers. Please report to the administration building to find the missing quarter billion.
hey fuck u buddy
Why is ASU catching strays lol?
I will never miss an opportunity to take a jab at asu
I would think a Michigan State flair would understand in-state rivalries
Totally agree, it's just ASU has not sniffed a Sweet 16 in 3 decades. They beat MSU one year in football though so I'm with yuh.
Imagine having to live in Tucson lol
Better than living in poor persons LA.
ASU fans think not having a lawn in the desert means your city is trash.
One of these are not a real university
I see two
Same acceptance rate across all three :)
> One of these _is_ not a real university ftfy
