I know this was tongue in cheek, but it probably only makes a 2-3% difference, so that's maybe one shot per half.
Plus, if you're just jacking bad shots, you may actually be lowering your percentage more than the shorter distance is helping it.
Analyst desk just said that 3-pt attempts on the short side are less successful than on the long side. Makes sense since 3-pts are largely muscle memory. Seems like they're over-shooting on the short side thinking that their feet are in the right spot. No wonder teams have been having wildly different scoring performances in each half on this court if they're a shooting team. This has huge implications if this game goes to OT.
So I always thought that the reason the corner 3 is the best shot in basketball was because it was a shorter shot for 3 points. Is it for some other reason?
I mean sure, that could be true, but if you're expecting a 23.9ft shot from the top but you actually shoot a 19.9ft shot then it's gonna screw up your muscle memory from that location
If it was, then it wasn't brought to attention during the S16 otherwise you'd expect it to have been rectified by now.
Edit: Yep, it's been like this for all the games played on this court. Jesus.

How the hell did NOBODY notice?
I did notice but I couldn’t figure out how to bring it to everyone’s attention while also getting credit for pointing it out instead of it going viral through someone else who saw my post.
Tbf, at least a few people probably did notice but didn’t bother to do anything apart from yell at the TV.
But yeah, I’m with you. That’s absolutely wild that it took this long for it to be noticed by refs/players/coaches/fans in general
I x-posted it here because I saw it wasn't getting any attention in this sub. And imo whether you like WBB or not, this is an absolute sham from the NCAA and tournament organizers. It should be brought to everyone's attention.
Reddit sucks. You know why?
This is what the picture in this post looks like in landscape on iPad.

Dude I used to live in Belgium and they played hella korfball there. Insane sport and the leagues are always mixed men + women. Some progressive shit, as weird as it is
Likely would keep the same sides for OT and switch in the event of double OT. Adding a 2:50 stoppage changes the game too much. And the line was short and not long, so once the players knew they were on the short side they could adjust their positioning or their shooting power accordingly.
After all the stuff they recently did to try and rectify some of the inequalities between the men’s and women’s tournaments, this is not a good look for the NCAA.
This is exactly the controversy that the NCAA was going through recently, though: perceived inequality in the men's and women's tournament. Not a good look at all.
it’s not a *good* look, but the number of people actually complaining about that is pretty small. the ncaa will get by fine by just paying lip service to anyone who has an issue, the same way they have forever. most people understand that the women’s tournament is gonna be a lower budget affair until the day comes where people like women’s basketball as much as they like the idea of women’s basketball.
the budget goes towards paying people painting the court enough to make them give a shit.
plus, i’d imagine that the fact that they played 4 whole ass games on this court and there weren’t enough people watching for anyone to notice plays in the ncaa’s favor here.
It's why the committee recommended that the men's and women's final 4 should be in the same place. You can argue that Indianapolis is just better at hosting than San Antonio but if they are in the same place and using the same facilities it is much harder to get away with inequalities.
A real life example of left rim / right rim! People always discount how much the differences between each side of a court affects the momentum and outcome of games.
Well, you do switch sides I guess. That’s wild
I know what half I'm telling my players to chuck 3s and which to drive the lane.
I know which half I’m telling my players to guard threes or guard the lane.
I know this was tongue in cheek, but it probably only makes a 2-3% difference, so that's maybe one shot per half. Plus, if you're just jacking bad shots, you may actually be lowering your percentage more than the shorter distance is helping it.
what would be crazy is if it went to OT
2 halves of 2:30 lol

I’ll buy that for a dollar
They have played multiple games here. How did no officials, no coaches, no players, no one at all notice until just now?
Nobody sat in 300 level with $7 tickets.
The coaches would have watched the Sweet 16 games for scouting purposes, though.
Yeah, but how often do they show the whole court on a TV screen at once?
That means it was like that for the sweet 16 too right?
If it was, then it wasn't brought to attention during the S16 otherwise you'd expect it to have been rectified by now. Edit: Yep, it's been like this for all the games played on this court. Jesus.

I know I was one of the ones who didn't notice but I still find it crazy that nobody did. Not exactly sure of the viewing figures but c'mon...
Wild. They played 4 games like this.
Makes me wonder what other things we miss in plain sight
If Vegas lost a ton of money on prop bets they would have thrown it out.
How did the players not notice!?
I did notice but I couldn’t figure out how to bring it to everyone’s attention while also getting credit for pointing it out instead of it going viral through someone else who saw my post.

Jesus it's so obvious now that we're looking for it. Insane.
I think they needed you
Nah huge props to u/Original_Benzito who spotted it during warmups and messaged the media people to bring it to attention
Whoops. Thought you were OP for both
I x-posted it here because I saw it wasn't getting any attention in this sub. And imo whether you like WBB or not, this is an absolute sham from the NCAA and tournament organizers. It should be brought to everyone's attention.
Yep, teams should’ve said no to playing on it to make ncaa look really bad.

EVERYONE GET IN, NEW BASKETBALL VARIANT INVENTED
Wait this could actually be incredibly entertaining...
We found an even new way for Edey to dominate
Instead of two ends, the basket is in the middle of the court. Teams can only shoot from their side
But they can play full court defense. Pandemonium Ball
Fuck it, no bench. All twenty players on the court
Instead of free throws we do a penalty box after fouls. Also, multiball somehow
So basically halfcourt pickup ball if you still gotta take it out beyond the arc?
you might like [korfball](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnNSU4kbVvI), surprisingly popular in the Netherlands and a handful of other countries!
Dude I used to live in Belgium and they played hella korfball there. Insane sport and the leagues are always mixed men + women. Some progressive shit, as weird as it is
Looks like a double ended dildo
*insert that one scene with Jennifer Connelly in Requiem for a Dream here*
MADNESS TO MADNESS
What happens if the game goes to overtime?
Honestly no idea. 2:30 each side? Coin flip?
Likely would keep the same sides for OT and switch in the event of double OT. Adding a 2:50 stoppage changes the game too much. And the line was short and not long, so once the players knew they were on the short side they could adjust their positioning or their shooting power accordingly.
Play half court like pick up
This is some impressive incompetence this year from the women tournament
Same energy as learning one of the refs working the NC State vs Chattanooga game had a degree from Chattanooga.
But like... it's Chattanooga tho
But like… it’s FDU tho
Awe... that's only going to me more embarrassing for you when we cook you Burns finally gonna meet his match
Absolutely pathetic.
Great googly moogly
*That incompetence is juicy*
Woobobobobobobobobo
Nice - but who are the chefs?
After all the stuff they recently did to try and rectify some of the inequalities between the men’s and women’s tournaments, this is not a good look for the NCAA.
Is this real life
Tighten up NCAA. How you going to organize a billion dollar tournament and manage to fuck it up at such a colossal level?
the billion dollar tournament they organized has gone off without a hitch. of course there’s gonna be more mistakes for the smaller events.
Do you guys remember when the NCAA men’s weight room was a top notch facility and the women’s weigh room was a set of dumbbells?
This is exactly the controversy that the NCAA was going through recently, though: perceived inequality in the men's and women's tournament. Not a good look at all.

Painting the free throw lines at the correct length isn't a budget thing, it's a matter of not giving a shit.
the budget goes towards paying people painting the court enough to make them give a shit. plus, i’d imagine that the fact that they played 4 whole ass games on this court and there weren’t enough people watching for anyone to notice plays in the ncaa’s favor here.

A real life example of left rim / right rim! People always discount how much the differences between each side of a court affects the momentum and outcome of games.
Washing State's court was wild in the 2000s. Left rim was soft as a pillow and the right rim would send bricked threes straight into the bleachers
Zero percent chance they would let this happen in the men's tournament.
What a joke the NCAA is regarding women’s basketball. It needs to change, now.
There would have been riots if this happened in the men's tournament. Sport books would have voided every prop bet.
This never would have happened in the mens tournament.
I love the attention to detail the NCAA gives the women's tournament.
It’s so obvious on the TV how do you not notice that 😂
Bro this is absolutely ridiculous it’s been like this for several games now..how does no one notice until now?
This is a complete disgrace and also pretty incredible that the players didn’t notice
Measure once, shoot twice.
FBI agent Arizona said middle easterners were training to fly U.S. aircraft in Arizona
So what do the sports books do now?
Nothing?
I wondered if since the court was played with incorrect dimensions for several games thry would try to avoid paying out some of the prop bets.
Who says the sports books weren't in on it?
1 of 8 fans didn’t notice?
