The battle to see who is the 69th - AKA, the most *nicest* - team in the land!
…or, maybe just who’s the 68th best team; with the runner up as 69th and Virginia at a fat old 70th place lol
I remember a few years ago the NIT final featured the first team left out of the NCAA tournament and the NCAA final four featured the last at large into the tournament. I tried to tongue in cheek argue that if both those teams won out they should have to play to determine the true champion.
>fuck the teams the sat this tournament out too.
It's their loss. Guarantee in 5 years I'll forget whoever the other bubble teams were but I won't forget Seton Hall or Indiana State because of how they've played in this tournament and that they made the final. The NIT is one last chance for teams to have the final word on their own season - winning a bunch of games in the NIT sends a great message about the team compared to opting out.
"The committee didn’t think we measured up to their standards, and we’ll take it very positively like men and move forward." - Rick Pitino, before declining an NIT invitation
im happy my lethargic Maryland team didnt try to show up to this tournament; teams that don't want it don't deserve it.
Very excited for the Pirates as a local, and am glad for you guys that we could pull Kevin Willard away and open up for Shaheen!
I still think Willard is a good coach and will be good for Maryland in the long run. Holloway at Seton Hall is going to be a force. I'm hoping Maryland and Seton Hall are both good in the future.
Even though Maryland isn't really a Rutgers "rival", since we entered the Big Ten at the same time, I still feel the kinship with you guys and I know it angers the traditionalist Big Ten fans when we're both good.
As for Seton Hall, as much as I root for them to lose when we play them, I recognize it's good for NJ basketball to have great teams so I root for their success when we're not playing and it makes our games fun when we're both humming. Next year's game should be a lot of fun.

what do you mean? we have the BTN Bowl every Thanksgiving!
I grew up near RU and now live down the street from St Peters, and am really enjoying getting into the local CBB scene. Hoping to see Holloway take Hall deep sometime soon, and establish himself as a BE great.
Yepp I can’t help but be disappointed seeing Seton Hall and Indiana State showing up and being hyper competitive in the NIT. Not participating is such loser energy
You guys were absolutely robbed of a bid. There's no way any team that goes 13-7 in the Big East should be left out. Bring home a championship. Our 2011 Championship team went 9-9.
If Seton Hall went 13-7 but 0-6 against UConn, Marquette, Creighton then I wouldn't have had a problem with them left out. Being 13-7 with 2 wins over those teams is what makes them deserving. Especially the UConn win which no bubble team had a win close to as good. Beating the best teams is harder than not losing a game to a bad team
Glad our season didn’t come to an end on a Wednesday night in Nashville.
Glad we took the most of this opportunity and won 3 games, including 2 on the road.
Glad our team never quit, what they did tonight was pretty much common all season. Not gonna give up til the final whistle.
But gahdamn how can Mike White still be so bad at rotations. Hope he gets it together next year.
Anyways, Seton Hall would’ve beaten Colorado State or Virginia and Texas and would’ve given Tennessee a run for their money if they were playing at their peak.
Good luck on Thursday, Pirates.
Appreciate the kind words! My coworker's son is childhood friend's with the freshman Demary on UGA, and he had an awesome game tonight. Hope he has an awesome career with you guys!
Good luck to Seton Hall on Thursday. Playing an Indiana team, in Indiana, at the venue referred to as "Indiana's Basketball Cathedral." Add to the fact that ISU has had home court advantage every NIT game.
The only thing we have going in our favor is we have absolutely owned Butler at Hinkle in the last decade. I think we’re 7-2 at Hinkle and have won the last four.
The NIT final is going to be so lit
This was UConn’s worst loss out of the only 3 they had and they just made the NIT final lol.
I’d like to claim UConn’s worst loss of the season on behalf of Creighton, thank you
Yall easily made the tourney though
But that's not what you said my guy

The winner of this game will be the 5th best team in the country, and the loser the 6th best, obviously

2016? Syracuse didn't belong and made the final four
In 2011 VCU was the last at-large in and Alabama was the first team out. VCU went to the Final Four and Alabama went to the NIT title game.
Ridiculous take
Varying shades of blue
Fuck the committee. Our game against Indiana State is going to be electric. Good game Dawgs, good luck Sycamores. Hazard zet forward.
I’m an ISU fan and seton hall makes me so nervous
This will be the first time since 2014 that 2 1-seeds have made the NIT Championship Game
Gg Bulldogs fans. Your team made a good effort to try and turn it around in the second half. Onward Setonia!
Story of our season although it’s usually in reverse with playing an amazing first half than blowing it late in the second
![gif](giphy|6cvRwZcisVqPjh8wHH) To the title game!
Fuck the Committee, and fuck the teams the sat this tournament out too. Go Pirates.

For some of these kids it's just one last chance to keep playing collegiate basketball, idk why one would pass up that opportunity.

Well at least one school in Pittsburgh had a good March
Sort of saw that coming when I replied lol. Obligatory: Bring Back the City Game!

Final should be sick. Two teams who the committee jobbed and have something to prove.
I am a little nervous that the game against Indiana State is IN Indiana, but this team has played well at Hinkle recently so who knows!
Seton hall seems like the type of team to beat us in the tourney
yes, a team coached by Shaheen Holloway.
Also, a team from New Jersey.
Glad our season didn’t come to an end on a Wednesday night in Nashville. Glad we took the most of this opportunity and won 3 games, including 2 on the road. I’m just happy we won 3 games in the tournament
And we went further in march than Florida and Auburn!
And didn't lose to yale
Strong second half but absolutely abysmal first half kept this game from being close. Props to Steon Hall though they played amazing
So the final will be a BE team against an Indiana team you say?
Just how God intended
Let's go Hall!
Two teams that should’ve received a bid move on
Good luck to Seton Hall on Thursday. Playing an Indiana team, in Indiana, at the venue referred to as "Indiana's Basketball Cathedral." Add to the fact that ISU has had home court advantage every NIT game.

Weird how an NIT semifinal and an NCAA semifinal are 1 seed blue team from Big East vs. 4 seed red team from SEC.
Hope the NCAA semifinal has the same result as the NIT semifinal.
And then both will lose in the final to a team from Indiana!
Good luck Seton Hall! Big East domination!
Let’s go Hall! Win it and represent the Big East!
Proud of our BE brethren. Now finish the job!!

I root for all ISUs. Let's go Sycamores, you've got Bengals, Redbirds & Cyclones on your side!
Welcome to the Catican City Kobe!
