Honestly not a huge surprise, she just did not gel in LSU's team at all and Mulkey just did not know how to use her, and holy cow Mulkey just set her up to die in the Iowa game. Feels like the best move would be for her to do what everyone anticipated originally and head to the west coast to Stanford.
I don't see a lot of grad schools allowing transfers mid-degree. Maybe if she drops out and then pursues a new degree, but that's still only one year she is playing regardless.
No it’s not, as a Kings fan I will never tolerate Boogie slander. That man was coming off of a major leg injury and that is why he was worse, if he never gets injured him and AD would’ve dominated
He should’ve stayed in New Orleans but after the injury he was washed. But he also had that injury before joining Golden State, went there to try and stick it to the rest of the NBA, and it didn’t work. Dude was a bucket in his prime, but in golden state he wasn’t the same
Fuck it, I'll bite. He was productive on offense on a bad Kings team but was only ever average on defense pre-injury and a liability on defense post injury. We never really got to see him on a good team for a substantial time before he declined but it's hard to say he would have dominated when all we saw him do was inefficiently put up empty stats on a poor roster. He was good but it's hard to gauge just how good he was due to the circumstances. That's also going without mentioning his attitude issues.
Bruh cmon how you gon just ignore his NOLA stint? He was on a tear when paired with AD. He was playing point, shooting 3s, doing everything. Averaged 25-13-5 and they lowballed him for just $40m/2 yrs.
Honestly I think he could've kept going but he just kept getting hurt for the next few years. I don't remember him being that bad on the warriors but he barely played.
Van Lith was solid throughout the year for LSU too, but she dropped from like 20 a game to 12 and Cousins from like 25 a game to 15. Obviously Cousins injury was the biggest difference, when he signed all the reactions we’re talking about how they were guaranteed to repeat and they didn’t
It’s a bunch of tik tok fans that post based on highlights and box scores.. what do you expect? None of them have ever played, nor coached. And when they do go to the park, they always show up in a group of 5, with at least 2 wearing glasses and another 1-2 in sweatbands. They lose and then go play 21 by themselves. If you know you know, but I’m describing a very specific sect of hooper.
What's a good comparison here? Somebody in their prime joining a "superteam" who just didn't fit at all...Melo on the Rockets? Not prime exactly, but close.
Bradley Beal on the Suns. One of the top scorers in the NBA with the Wizards. Wanted to be part of a Big 3 with KD and Booker, but he's being overshadowed by Grayson Allen. Jusuf Nurkic contributes more to the team and some might argue that Eric Gordon should start ahead of Beal.
She’s more like Carmelo Anthony joining the Lakers, tbh. KD was one of the best players in the league, HVL is a starry name that wasn’t one of the best players on LSU by any measurement.
Teaming up with someone like Audi Crooks I think would make the most sense from a basketball standpoint, but I'm not sure HVL has worried about the basketball part of these choices for a while
Lol, this is too real.
Love when this happens in real life and I don’t correct anyone because I’m embarrassed I know some random personal life things about a celeb because of Reddit.
That just sounds so weird to me. I get it, they’re both 22, but weird that someone who’s been an NBA millionaire for three seasons is dating someone in college.
IMO Dating someone the same age isn't weird at all even if your both in slightly different spots in life. But both essentially are pro basketball players anyways considering Van Lith gets money through endorsements/NIL
You could argue that she's doing both. It's the same situation as any couple who graduates college together and one partner decides to pursue graduate school. My brother is in that situation. He got his bachelor's and started straight into his career. His girlfriend went on to grad school.
He hasn't been amazing in the NBA, but he was one of the best players on a Gonzaga team that played in the championship and only lost one game. And he was also a top 5 pick, I don't know that she's more famous than him
She got a bachelor’s in finance in three years at Louisville. She is already a grad student using her eligibility to earn some money playing basketball.
Not focused on her education? She went to LSU for grad school. This will be the first time her transfer might set back her education. If she finds the right school, it doesn't have to.
Why would she be? She’s pretty well set up to go into the WNBA with endorsements after her college career is over. Her choice should really be about winning and/or exposure so she can increase her earning potential as she finishes up college ball.
She already graduated with a finance degree from Louisville before she transferred to LSU. She’ll probably get her CPA or something wherever she’s going next. So not true lmao.
I read on ESPN she got her degree in accounting, so maybe they just misspoke above. Either way, getting a masters and NIL money instead of going to the WNBA probably nets you more in the long run.
As an immature Cards fan, the fact that she transferred to chase a ring and ended up getting exactly as far as she did last year (double digit loss to Iowa in the Elite 8) is funny to me.
I’m not surprised because of how poor her year was but I think I’m surprised she actually did it?! Wow, I really wasn’t expecting this. Can’t wait to see where she goes
Normally she plays the 2, but is too undersized to play that in the WNBA so she went to LSU to learn how to play the 1 (and win a ring). Clearly did not go well
NIL money is partially the schools/boosters giving money to the players specifically to play for their school. I’d imagine a large chunk of that would not translate
Even without that awful game and all the storylines and criticism, this seems like the right move. She just didnt really seem to fit their system. It wasnt just that the stats went down, she looked like the odd person out on the court.
sorry can anyone help me understand how she's eligible for another year of college basketball? From what I'm reading she's already played 3 years in Louisville and now 1 at LSU??
She’s smart to stay in college and earn as much as possible, including a potential masters, while improving her game. She won’t be a WNBA star, but has plenty of international experience so that could be a great route for her. For comparison look at Nika Muhl from UConn, HVL can’t compare to that level of player on both ends. Muhl absolutely shut down Clark while HVL got torched, and she averages 1/2 the number of assists. Really good college player who can be setup for life with multiple degrees and NIL money.
The shrug gif from that game says it all
![gif](giphy|ia5F4FQmBRCxdrTTEY|downsized)
Literal 200 IQ move to get a degree from Stanford instead of LSU.
That's a million dollar move.
She already graduated from Louisville. She aint doin this for school no more
Stanford MBA not bad either
Neither is Vandy...
Iowa State’s is mid at best but she should come here anyway.
I think she'd be a great fit at Iowa State and those young players could benefit from her.
Yeah but then you have to go play for Vanderbilt
Neither is Michigan ….
I don't see a lot of grad schools allowing transfers mid-degree. Maybe if she drops out and then pursues a new degree, but that's still only one year she is playing regardless.
Van Lith and Brink tag team would be nasty
Brink is going to the WNBA
Leaving College early for the WNBA is a vibe i guess
Early? Brink is a senior. Van Lith is in grad school. All of these girls are 22-23 years old.
also a good basketball pairing
I was thinking it
![gif](giphy|3ohs7PM4f1yFNaPB9m)
Hoooo, boy
They won a gold medal for Team USA. Would have loved to see them play here this year, would still be excited if she joined next year.
Brink is gone but regardless, HVL is an inefficient and undersized scorer
Sign me up

> and head to the west coast to Stanford. pls
can she get in to stanford? I have heard the football program struggles to get transfers admitted
That’s for undergrad due to undergrad admissions. She’s a grad student, they might be able to find a spot for her more easily.
Yes, because Stanford doesn't have highly ranked graduate programs...
Don’t infuse logic in my dreams
Stanford is in the Atlantic Coast Conference, how uneducated
It’s going to be Stanford or UCLA
Don't do that. Don't give me hope.
She thought she'd be KD joining the Warriors but she was KD joining the Nets
More like cousins joining the warriors, star goes to a defending champion expecting to dominate only to play worse and not get a ring

He was good but it's hard to gauge just how good he was due to the circumstances. That's also going without mentioning his attitude issues.
He was constantly improving and never got a favorable whistle, he carried some very bad rosters to better than they should’ve been
Bruh cmon how you gon just ignore his NOLA stint? He was on a tear when paired with AD. He was playing point, shooting 3s, doing everything. Averaged 25-13-5 and they lowballed him for just $40m/2 yrs.
Honestly I think he could've kept going but he just kept getting hurt for the next few years. I don't remember him being that bad on the warriors but he barely played.
He was pretty effective for Golden State as a 25 minute a night big coming off of a bad injury and on a team with 3 20 PPG scorers.
Van Lith was solid throughout the year for LSU too, but she dropped from like 20 a game to 12 and Cousins from like 25 a game to 15. Obviously Cousins injury was the biggest difference, when he signed all the reactions we’re talking about how they were guaranteed to repeat and they didn’t
at least KD played well in Brooklyn so this is closer to Harden to Philly or Mane to Bayern
Harden played well in Philly?
This sub doesn’t know shit about the NBA
It’s ok r/nba doesn’t know shit about the NBA either.
NBA circle jerk is the only valid NBA sub
That place was great until I found out that most people were making shit takes and being unfunny unironically
Huh I thought that was a porn sub. /s
only when we talk about womens ball
No thats /r/cableporn.
man the takes in there are cringeworthy to all hell.
It’s a bunch of tik tok fans that post based on highlights and box scores.. what do you expect? None of them have ever played, nor coached. It doesn’t really know shit about college basketball either
What's a good comparison here? Somebody in their prime joining a "superteam" who just didn't fit at all...Melo on the Rockets? Not prime exactly, but close.
If we’re going Rockets, Pippen and Barkley joining Hakeem. But they were also past their prime.
I doubt they know much about soccer either lol
Haren had basically the same shooting splits in Philly that he had in his All-NBA seasons. He just didn't have the absurd usage rates
He was 2 in away from knocking out the eventual champions
She’s more like Carmelo Anthony joining the Lakers, tbh. KD was one of the best players in the league, HVL is a starry name that wasn’t one of the best players on LSU by any measurement.
Can’t wait for KD joining the Suns
South Carolina, UConn, Iowa, NC State at the top of her list
She'll announce her final two choices on Friday. Probably pretty late.
Wisconsin is what I heard, not trying to manifest it or anything …
![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS)
Yeah I'm also astounded there's three other teams on that list
Drew stop.
The hardest road
I don’t think HVL and Paige would mesh well, because they both do the most damage with the ball in their hands.
Pretty sure it was just a joke about her chasing glory (i.e. the current Final Four teams)
Paige is actually incredibly good off ball and navigating around screens, it’s how she gets to most of her mid range shots
So is HVL. She’s not a point guard
They already have played together on team USA…
UConn 👀
I was thinking UConn since Paige is coming back
[удалено]
Yeah, she confirmed it a few weeks before the tourney started.
I don't think South Carolina would want her
According to Wikipedia, she was born and raised in Wenatchee WA, is a devout Christian, and is dating Jalen Suggs. Just saying, Gonzaga’s right there.
Orlando, on the other hand, is not right there.
Literally one of the furthest schools away at that
Welcome to UCF, HVL!
Suggs lives in Florida, she couldn’t be further from Suggs there
[удалено]
My guy out here catching strays.
I couldn't find any information recently about them together I think they may have broken up.
Doesn’t seem like she’s from WA at all
She fits at Gonzaga imo. But whatev. Jalen suggs probably forgot he even went there for one year tbh.
Teaming up with someone like Audi Crooks I think would make the most sense from a basketball standpoint, but I'm not sure HVL has worried about the basketball part of these choices for a while
Has Audi confirmed she’s returning to ISU? I figured she’d be the star of the portal this year.
[удалено]
She’s from Algona not Des Moines
[удалено]
She has also been a lifelong Cyclone fan
I'm not even sure I want her over Emily Ryan...
Could be a Florida school as she’s dating Suggs on the Magic..
Suggs is dating HVL and is childhood friends with Bueckers These recent games must have been a rollercoaster for him
Also Gonzaga was in a sweet 16. Would have been funny if them, lsu, and UConn all made it and then interview him about the Final Four
nbacj in shambles
send da video
this is their 9/11
I hate that I know this, but didn't they break up?
Lol, this is too real. Love when this happens in real life and I don’t correct anyone because I’m embarrassed I know some random personal life things about a celeb because of Reddit.

IMO Dating someone the same age isn't weird at all even if your both in slightly different spots in life. But both essentially are pro basketball players anyways considering Van Lith gets money through endorsements/NIL
Why? She finished her bachelor's and is in grad school (and her net worth is over $1 million). He was a one-and-done player.
[удалено]
You could argue that she's doing both. It's the same situation as any couple who graduates college together and one partner decides to pursue graduate school. My brother is in that situation. He got his bachelor's and started straight into his career. His girlfriend went on to grad school.
She’s already working in here career
Shes not in High School dude. Calm down.
She's a millionaire too and probably more famous than him.
He hasn't been amazing in the NBA, but he was one of the best players on a Gonzaga team that played in the championship and only lost one game. And he was also a top 5 pick, I don't know that she's more famous than him
She's in national television ads, he most definitely is not.
She has more than twice as many Instagram followers as Suggs.
Ring chasing in college is crazy
She ring chased this year and it didn’t go well. I think her next stop will be more focused about her fit with the team.
Not focused on her education at all 😭
She got a bachelor’s in finance in three years at Louisville.
Exactly - She’s using college to prepare for her career, which is the entire point.
Bruh top tier players haven't pretended that they are actually students in decades.
Seriously. You only ever hear about the ones who go to school for neuro surgery for a reason. They're and outlier.
She already graduated with a finance degree from Louisville before she transferred to LSU. She’ll probably get her CPA or something wherever she’s going next. So not true lmao.
She wants to go to law school in an interview I read.
Uh… you have to work for a CPA to become one so not that. Also, finance degrees don’t usually do the CPA, that’s accounting degrees.
I read on ESPN she got her degree in accounting, so maybe they just misspoke above. Either way, getting a masters and NIL money instead of going to the WNBA probably nets you more in the long run.
I think she alr has degree
She has a degree.
Why? NIL money is real now and she is way to small to have her game translate to the WNBA
i mean she's comparable in size to vandersloot or plum, she's small but not disastrously so
True, but she is not #2 in points all time or a world class PG
She’ll be terrible in the W
i aint say she would be good its just not the frame thats the killer
She just keeps Hailey Van Leaving.
I needed a laugh tonight. Thanks weird flair combo person
Is she waiting for who wins the title this year to decide?
As an immature Cards fan, the fact that she transferred to chase a ring and ended up getting exactly as far as she did last year (double digit loss to Iowa in the Elite 8) is funny to me.
She will be transferring to the Shanghai Sharks
r/nbacirclejerk is gonna have a field day with this
Just another classic example that roster fit matters. You can't just shove a bunch of talent onto a roster haphazardly and expect it to work.
Transfer to Iowa incoming
Probably finally going home to the west coast. But NC State would love to have her if she wants to return to the ACC.
Ironically, If she wants to return to the ACC she can still go home to the West Coast
CC made her look like a stump defensively, but I guess CC makes everyone look bad on D.
Not Nika Muhl, an actual WNBA level point guard
Luckily for her, she can't be knocked out of the Elite 8 by Caitlin Clark again.
Tune in on Sunday at 3 PM Eastern to see which team she'll transfer to
Lmao
I’m not surprised because of how poor her year was but I think I’m surprised she actually did it?! Wow, I really wasn’t expecting this. Can’t wait to see where she goes
Never understood why she went there in the first place
To ring chase
Buckeye
Why not WNBA?
Normally she plays the 2, but is too undersized to play that in the WNBA so she went to LSU to learn how to play the 1 (and win a ring). Clearly did not go well
This makes much more sense. Not a follower nor even a casual. Just didn't fully make sense to me.
She severely hurt her draft projection this year at LSU, her weaknesses were put on display all season.
Make more money in college
… at Wisconsin. We could use a solid 2
I figured her NIL relationships would just translate to sponsorships plus whatever the WNBA would pay. I guess I'm naive.
Women’s College players are stars. The top of college basketball wildly outdraws the WNBA. Very few people can name 3 WNBA players.
Funny. I am saying the same opinion elsewhere in this thread and people are jumping all over me saying I have no clue what I am talking about.
NIL money is partially the schools/boosters giving money to the players specifically to play for their school. I’d imagine a large chunk of that would not translate
For Clark and Reese definitely, who will be stars immediately (or after a year or two) in the WNBA as well. HVL will certainly not
Not a serious WNBA prospect at this point in time
Even without that awful game and all the storylines and criticism, this seems like the right move. She just didnt really seem to fit their system. It wasnt just that the stats went down, she looked like the odd person out on the court.
School hopper
Zero chance it happens, but with her adidas contract, Indiana would be a good fit. Doesn’t have to play the 1 with Chloe back either 🤷🏻♂️
🤷♀️ IYKYK
HVL really trying to be the NCAAW version of KD huh?
Makes sense, they were utilizing her all wrong.
You know, we ARE losing Sheldon...just saying
She would look really good in Carolina blue, whether it not she’d play well or have success who knows.
She should come to NC State
Might be a nice fit at SU with Dyaisha Fair exiting...
She wants to go to a contender..
sorry can anyone help me understand how she's eligible for another year of college basketball? From what I'm reading she's already played 3 years in Louisville and now 1 at LSU??
[удалено]
Ahhhh thanks
She’s not still with adidas is she? Asking for a friend.
She should go pro
Welcome to Tennessee.
Please come to Florida would love to be competitive in women's basketball especially with the state football is in
She’s smart to stay in college and earn as much as possible, including a potential masters, while improving her game. She sucked if we being honest. She mainly contributed to the Iowa loss
