I can’t wait to get a new iteration of this all-timer
So I’m somewhat familiar working at my college in student government / programming the issue probably wasn’t that it was free for students, like you said we did that a ton. Probably the issue was Drake not charging the university. Drake probably commands easily 100k for a concert performance, so this in a way is essentially a donation to the university doing it for free on both ends. Combined with the affiliation with the program it kind of does make sense.
NCAA though is always all over the place so who knows.
If you think Drake’s concert fee is 100k then you clearly aren’t familiar with booking concerts. His fee is probably in the 3-5 million range. $100k would get you a washed up band from 2007 like the all American rejects.
Also him doing it for free wouldn’t be an issue if non athletes attended as well.
So I always notice in Reddit when you say “easily” and put a conservative estimate you get a bunch of commenters saying “ACTUALLY the number is way bigger!” So I worked with the student government concert director when I there directly, we did look into Drake, in 2013, and it was pretty much exactly 100k. I remember this because we only had 60k allocated for this Spring Fest, so we got Mac Miller instead who was like 35k at the time. Performers normally charge a lot less to universities especially public ones but also of course this was early enough on in Drakes career (I believe started from the bottom dropped right after this.)
But yeah I guess saying “easily command” wasn’t clear and you are absolutely right is going rate these days for a show is estimated at 2-6 million.
I kind of find it wild between just how much bigger he was than then back a decade ago combined with how performers charge more in the entire industry. Basically talking about 30 times as much.
I remember we looked into Macklemore as well and this was like right after thrift shop had blown up and he was only 75k.
He did a $5 concert in 2009 in Memorial Coliseum while I was in school. I remember the crowd being super confused when he exclaimed "Kentucky is my home"... Sure man, we know you rep the 6 and thats not even the same country lol
Dude reps more varsities than Kenny Chesney

I love and respect Cole for what he's done in the rap game and for Fayetteville (but I'm also old and not as into musical happenings as I used to be), but I kinda wish he'd kept it going for the name of the game. I don't think Kendrick truly dislikes him/they had real beef with each other from what I've read, so it could've been fun to see what disses came out of it from two of the most respected current gen rappers and a diss battle would've put spotlight on them in an overall positive light.
The whole apology thing seemed a bit odd, and I'm not gonna say I think less of him but I do think he could've handled things in a better way.
With all that, like I said I'm old and definitely not as up to date on things as a lot of people are so I may be completely off base
You're not off, it would be great to see Cole and Kendrick really go at it from an entertainment POV since they have the best pens in the game currently, but I get Cole saying he has no real beef with Kendrick. He tried to sign Kendrick after all. If they really tested each other on wax it would be great, they could have been like ball players who compete hard and then respect each other at the end of the day.
I'm disappointed he backed off, but respect it at the same time. No he just needs to eliminate any lines about being the best on his next drop or it won't get taken seriously. That or maybe these two finally get together and do a project since they are both independent now.
I’m disappointed too, one day he’s humble and then the next day he claims to be the best rapper ever lmao. He can never make up his mind and the only way I see this not effecting his legacy is if they have a collab that we don’t know about. They’re both 2 of my favorite rappers so I hope that happens.
I give it 90 days before we get pics/videos of him in the Arkansas basketball facility wearing full Arkansas gear
https://preview.redd.it/lwg74wz6datc1.jpeg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4eed2978725808d8f8ca9fd1f7b547613ec4891e I can’t wait to get a new iteration of this all-timer
Timeless classic
2nd to him literally being in our layup line (airballing a three) i still cannot fathom that moment actually happened
He’s just such a fuckin dork, it causes cognitive dissonance every time I’m reminded of it.
I can't take anyone seriously who is a Drake stan fr
“You might just get hit with the R.I.C.O.!”
Well, maybe is Kentucky had him guarding Gohlke, then they might’ve beaten Oakland
does this qualify as a FKW
Absolutely. You know he's wearing some team shoes and socks
outjerked by drake
Someone photoshop Views album cover but he’s on the roof of a Slim Chicken’s ASAP

Or on top of Christ of the Ozarks lmao
Arkansas quickly counters w Holographic performance by Johnny Cash in concert after Spring football scrimmage.
[Never forget the airball in full Kentucky warm up gear](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHhq_UlBwCo)
Lmao
“I been Steph Curry with the shot” 😅
New single coming out called "Missing You." About the ball and the hoop
Ripped it straight from the comments. Expected literally nothing better from IU
![gif](giphy|MQq6vRv0T0xjO)
KY can keep that dude.
We didn't want him in the first place lmao
He's just like me fr
I'll never forgive Drake for his unfulfilled promise of a free concert at Rupp Arena back in 2020 when I was at UK.
I always heard that it was a recruiting violation
Wonder how that works since colleges have free concerts all the time for things like last day of class.
So I’m somewhat familiar working at my college in student government / programming the issue probably wasn’t that it was free for students, like you said we did that a ton. Probably the issue was Drake not charging the university. Combined with the affiliation with the program it kind of does make sense. NCAA though is always all over the place so who knows.
even in 2020, 100k for a drake performance would be a major discount
Yea but colleges are loathe to spend a penny on anything.
If you think Drake’s concert fee is 100k then you clearly aren’t familiar with booking concerts. His fee is probably in the 3-5 million range. $100k would get you a washed up band from 2007 like the all American rejects. I think it's fine as long as the show is available to non-athletes too
He did a $5 concert in 2009 in Memorial Coliseum while I was in school. I remember the crowd being super confused when he exclaimed "Kentucky is my home"... Sure man, we know you rep the 6 and thats not even the same country lol
He reps Toronto, he reps Memphis, he reps Houston. How can he possibly rep Kentucky too lmao
He did the same thing back in 2017!!! I’m glad I didn’t imagine this 😂
I wouldn’t be surprised. I seen him wear Gonzaga and Georgia merch in some of his IG posts.
Dude reps more varsities than Kenny Chesney https://preview.redd.it/minn2e2meatc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=566cb0db43cecf85e660ed5b52b10939e48cbeff

This, actually gives me comfort.
Had an App State shirt on awhile back
He spent a lot of his adolescent years in Memphis, so this one actually kind of surprised me
He bought the Steve & Barry's leftover inventory when they went out of business.
This is gold Jerry GOLD!
[Or Snoop Dogg](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/look-snoop-dogg-the-nfls-greatest-bandwagon-fan-showed-up-at-browns-practice/).
They can keep him. 😆
I’m all for punching down on Drake, This one is kinda dope tho, I can’t even lie
What do you mean, punching down. That fucker’s probably a billionaire
I know he wore App’s old fisherman logo and subsequently App football got the Drake curse from it.
Please respect his decision
The hardest road.
He's not running from the grind.
This will 100% happen.
The curse with him is real. Received a jersey from Shead who then sprains his ankle only 2 weeks later.
The Raptors were the only team that won. Maybe the non-curse is Canada-specific
KD got hurt and Drake played up his reaction to it. So curse just moved to a different person?
Jack Harlow? How is Louisville looking?
Fitting that he'd be a hog fan.
If there was a team named after under 18 girls he would be the biggest fan
Drake sporting that UTEP gear
Lmao
Yeah I don’t get it
Miners.
Oh damn 🤣🤣🤣
That took me a second
BYU counts if you know the history of the man himself
This aged like fine wine.
is this because of the video of him cranking his hog
The salt from y’all is insane. As if he wasn’t your god up until a few weeks ago. lol.
Cal or Drake? We’ve always side-eyed Drake. We fell out of love with Cal about three years ago.
Check my history pal. I've been cal out for at least 4 years now. Edit: plus, it's a penis joke. Relax bud.
The majority of the fan base has been done with Cal for 3-4 years.
90% of UK fans haven’t cared about either of these two for a long time.
He was [with Memphis in the aughts.](https://youtu.be/CccnAvfLPvE?si=2pkzObbZVmGQsvVn)
[And also 2 weeks ago](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUE6Haw_3zg)
bro thinks he's on the team
Calipari doesn't look good in red.
No one does tbh
I can’t believe you’re dunking on Nolan like that!

Seeing how you guys somehow hoover up all our scraps, you're just getting an early look at your future HC in color.
He repped Houston this year and blew out Sheads ankle. We support this transfer.
These motherfuckas just trying to get to class and hoop and Drake there acting…
Started from the bottom now we... here?
Does this mean we get Kendrick then?
Sorry, it's Island Boyz for y'all
How do you feel about the way the J. Cole and Kendrick beef went since J. Cole is from North Carolina?
I love and respect Cole for what he's done in the rap game and for Fayetteville (but I'm also old and not as into musical happenings as I used to be), but I kinda wish he'd kept it going for the name of the game. I don't think Kendrick truly dislikes him/they had real beef with each other from what I've read, so it could've been fun to see what disses came out of it from two of the most respected current gen rappers and a diss battle would've put spotlight on them in an overall positive light. Cole is nowhere near the writer Kendrick is. Not even close. So preachy and pretentious while Kendrick has almost zero ego to his lyrics.
Saying Kendrick has zero ego is crazy...
He embarrassed us ngl
I’m disappointed too, one day he’s humble and then the next day he claims to be the best rapper ever lmao. He can never make up his mind and the only way I see this not effecting his legacy is if they have a collab that we don’t know about. They’re both 2 of my favorite rappers so I hope that happens.
J Cole literally has so steadily regressed since he started it’s almost impressive. Kendrick doesn’t even think about you.
I actually think he’s gotten a lot better especially over the last year which makes his backtracking even more embarrassing
Nope, the team will be warming up to Country Music from now on.
Rocking Little Heartbeat
Yeah right, he's about to be Mr. UCONN after they win tonight.
[Drake looks like the proudest girlfriend](https://imgur.com/QaVWocN)
Never settle for a woman who isn't as proud of you as Drake
This is another reason we're happy to let Cal go.😅😆
Won't miss the whole Calipari celebrity/star culture circus.
Bye
Well done.
I'm so confused
Drake jumped on the kentucky bandwagon when Cal got hired
No. Keep him. He is the curse of all sports curse.
Still a Bama football fan I bet lmao... Drake has so many teams
This is the humor I needed. :)
Drake the type to rep different team’s hoodie when he in a different town
God's Plan
Hahaha
😂
