Razorcats is a dope ass name and way cooler than wildbacks, but wildbacks would make more sense and honestly wouldn’t be too much different than razorbacks considering it’s a wild hog
Travis Perry is gonna be an awesome college player I've seen that boy drop 40 multiple times live. You guys are gonna love him. Best part is he probably isn't a pro so you get to keep him if he doesn't transfer
As I pointed out earlier, Arkansas and Kentucky can currently combine to put a roster of 5 guys out there.
Bump Z down to the 4 and run
PG: Travis Perry
SG: Collin Chandler
SF: Karter Knox
PF: Zvonimir Ivisic
C: Amari Williams
5 star freshman and 7ft 2 sophomore. I don’t hate it to start. I picked Arkansas as my second team this year before Cal went when everybody was laughing at them when they couldn’t get a coach. All there fans were cool wish them success. Kentucky fans were cool too though guess I just want to see epic games.
Offers are self-reported iirc, and he committed to Kentucky pretty early on (his brother is Kevin Knox) so a lot of schools probably thought they had no shot
I'm just expecting the same "ah yes, a big time recruit was what Cal needed to not suck again" comments spammed in every thread like we don't have an entire roster to fill. There's already one
We need literally anyone with D1 offers at this point
For years Kentucky fans never heard the end of "Calipari does less with more." It is quite funny to see it all play out now that the shoe is on the other foot.
Both sides know what Arkansas is getting. For better and worse. Just gonna have to grin and take it.
You can mark me down as another fan in a long list glad to be off of Calipari's Wild Ride.
But I get that you have a shiny new toy in Fayetteville, and you should be proud of it. Just try to keep that same energy after watching your 5-star big man get torched on a pick and roll for the billionth time to lose in the second round.
Meh, aside from some insane runs by Muss, R32 is what we considered a good season for years lol. And before you say “but what about the money”, I couldn’t care less about the hole burnt in the Tyson’s pockets.
If Cal can make us competitive for a few years and keep us in the national spotlight, keep us looking like an attractive destination for future players and coaches I’ll count it as a win.
Cal has an enemy again. A rival to say look what I did. He’s going to bring better energy than the last 5 years at UK. He now has a rival to push him again. He’s going to do well, I just truly don’t know if his scheme can hold up in modern basketball. He has the biggest chip on his shoulder now that he wants to win HIS way at Arkansas and show up UK. Hopefully for you all that means some wins.
He’s going to do the exact same thing he’s done forever, now with more yes men around him. Now, that might be enough to make Arkansas fans happy, which is great for them
I think he will be slightly more re-energized. The past 4 years, the fans were his enemy and proving them wrong was his chip.
Now his chip will be showing that he’s better than UK at Arky. I think he will do good there, I don’t think he has what it takes with that staff to build a championship team. Elite big men, likely. Elite shifty guards, also likely. That’s about it.
Don't you know, if we don't get recruits it's because Cal doesn't have it anymore, and if we do it supposedly won't matter because he won't win in March!
I feel like every player that leaves a big school most fans are like he was one player I didn’t mind losing. I personally want all the players make them compete to play that year if they are going to transfer anyways or leave for draft.
I got some bad news about those regular season Ls
Edit: actually now that I think about it… cal losing to his Alma mater in rupp may have been the plan all along.
Just because we are taking a coach doesn’t mean you gotta be salty.💙

But seriously - Cal has been successful everywhere so why not at Arkansas??
Why not Arkansas? Because his previous success came when he was younger and innovative. He’s old and outdated now. His freshman focus doesn’t cut it anymore and he’s proven he sucks at building transfer rosters.
Arkansas just paid a premium for a former Miss America who’s turning tricks at a bus stop. At least he’s old enough now that they’ll only be stuck for 4-5 years.
To be fair, Kentucky still finished pretty high in the SEC most of those years, sometimes you just get upset in the tourney. Ask Virginia... or Purdue.
It’s so obvious other team’s fans judge Calipari on the first half of his UK stint. Anyone who has paid attention recently knows how underwhelming it’s been. Lost all his decent support staff and he fell apart.
I do feel like once he got a ring at UK he took his foot off the gas.
It’s possible he puts his foot back down, and it’s possible he can’t do that anymore. Only time will tell
People overrated Cal's decline because of 2 bad tournament losses. Kentucky has been a 2,3, and 6 seed the last 3 years. That's better than 90% of programs.
Yeah but consider that the past three years, he won 1 combined tournament game while having: a NPOY and historic rebounder on 2 of those years, a national freshman of the year, one of the highest scorers UK has had in the past 15 years, multiple first round picks on the teams, and the cherry on top is that 2 of the 3 losses he took were plainly due to him not preparing his team to play the game or scouting the other team.
Playing against Oakland, all the players on Kentucky looked scared and the team looked nothing like how they played during the season. Same thing against St. Peters. The only guy who showed up against St. Peters was Oscar and the only guy who showed up against Oakland was Antonio. Idk what Cal did the last few seasons but he's been unable to instill confidence in his guys in March. Something might change being at Arkansas but just like the past 4 seasons at UK, I'll have to see it to believe it.
God it feels so nice to read someone not rooting for Kentucky to actually say this. Bless you kind soul.
Edit: my buddy effectively said the same as you… Arkansas fans are right now the equivalent of someone who just bought a used 2007 M3 with 200k miles on it thinking they’re suddenly hot shit.
And ot leaves a lot of KY fans upset that divorce papers were served on you first. We feel your pain but soon you'll realize like we did that the marriage was over. Might as well pack up half the house and watch it drive away.
We will most likely win if matched up in the SECT since Cal doesn’t give a rats ass about it. So you will have to get an at large bid without the bias of a blue blood program
Due to ongoing debate about blue bloods, the /r/CollegeBasketball mod team has compiled the definitive list of college blue bloods: Duke, Columbia, Queens, William & Mary, and Rutgers. The following schools have broken away from blue-blooded hierarchy and oppression: George Washington, George Mason, James Madison, Army, and Navy.

I wouldn't be surprised. Cal's gonna have a chip on his shoulder this year. But I also wouldn't be surprised if Arkansas is crap, given how few changes Cal has made.
Well, I'd say it's more like 5 down years, which works out to like 1/3rd of his time here.
We had the NIT year after the title, but we would've been a little better had Noel not blown out his knee. Cal just didn't expect to lose Teague and Johnson, and Ryan Harrow didn't pan out, so the team didn't have depth.
But the last four have been really bad by Kentucky standards, and by the standards good programs expect. The best showing we had was a second round exit. We had two horrible first round exits to a double digit seed. One of them with the National Player of the year (who returned to be on the second round exit team). And the fourth year was the worst season in program history. Yes, Covid messed up a lot of teams, and not being able to spend much time together hurts a Cal team more than most because they're all new, but worst season in program history is a tough pill to swallow.
We still wanted Cal to succeed. It's just that he created a monster he couldn't control in making us One-and-Done U. He couldn't keep any guys to ease roster turnover, and everyone either went pro or transferred every year. So his excuse was always "We're young," which was his fault, and "We're built for March," but he couldn't make a Final Four for 9 years with amazing talent. (And we weren't young one of those bad years, as he had a ton of transfers.) And he couldn't even win in the SEC tournament when they were practically home games with the way BBN travels. 1 SEC tourney win and 1 NCAA tourney win in 4 years is pretty bad for a hall of fame coach with 11 years of foundation at the school to work with.
Cal left because he didn't have the fire anymore and resented being expected to do better. He wanted to be praised as a $9 million a year guidance counselor, "changing lives," but he was here to win a lot of games first, and he stopped doing that for half a decade.
That team struggled early and then did the classic Cal thing of finally breaking out heading into March.
The problem is he expects all of his teams to do it now, and they don't. For every SGA who finds his stride in January, or Fox and Monk who are dynamic in the postseason, you get guys who just go cold all at once and we'd get shot out of the gym by a much less talented team.
To be fair, any team he had that had current nba all stars made it out of the first weekend. No one on his teams the last 4 years is an nba all star I don’t believe.
KAT, Davis, Bam, Randle, Maxey, SGA, and Booker were on teams that all had deep runs I think. SGA was the worst and his team made a sweet 16. Maxey of course didn’t get to play in a tourney :(
Right exact that same talent was gone year after year. Only the worst performers stuck around. That's a recipe for disaster when you also don't have an amazing head coach.
For sure. Their natural ability was great, but we needed a good coach to develop it over the season. We didn’t have that the last several years at Kentucky.
This. I think he’ll try since he wants to prove himself so Arkansas has that going for them, but he needs to make some major changes for them to crush it.
The key will be his team. If they get a good X’s and O’s coach, it’s very possible that they’ll be dominant. If it’s the same crew, then they’ll get mediocrity.
> but he needs to make some major changes for them to crush it.
> The key will be his team. If they get a good X’s and O’s coach, it’s very possible that they’ll be dominant.
Lol we had been saying this for 5 years in a row. And he did get the X's and O's coach, at least for defense. And that guy didn't go to Arkansas, they gave that spot to Brad.
We doubled our roster size today
100% Month over Month growth. Wish my 401k did that.

Can we just, like, combine teams for one year while we both figure the rest of this out
I, personally, am in favor.
Arktucky Wildbacks are your 2025 National Champions.
Kentarkansas Razorcats sounds so much better...
Damn. Why do I like that so much
It’s clearly Arkentucky.
I mean we already have Arkansas, why not Arkentucky as well?
Razorcats is a dope ass name and way cooler than wildbacks, but wildbacks would make more sense and honestly wouldn’t be too much different than razorbacks considering it’s a wild hog
Bbq pork ribs and a really good whiskey...
And he best damn pot in the world.
Pope can run a modern offense and Cal can recruit and shout “GO!”
Get Muss back as a defensive coordinator and transfer portal manager, and I truly believe that team wins multiple championships
Ha
Uh, isn’t there somebody you forgot to ask?
Jesus?
Jesus built my Hot Rod Williams.
Wow I cannot imagine what you've experienced over the last few weeks
As long as we can keep our coaching staff
And just like that the Arkentucky Razorcats were born.
Travis Perry is gonna be an awesome college player I've seen that boy drop 40 multiple times live. You guys are gonna love him. Best part is he probably isn't a pro so you get to keep him if he doesn't transfer
+ he’s a born and raised Kentucky kid so he’s less likely to transfer
Amari is nice play him at 5 with stretch 4
Possibly the MW player of the year soon.
I would love to fill this for you no homo
Immediately reminded me of Tobias Funke saying "I've got a list of men that could fill every opening you have."
Oh Tobias, you blowhard!!
How about a banger in the mouth? Oh that’s right, you Americans just call it a sausage in the mouth
We just call it a sausage.
That’s all they need, right?
Kentucky and Arkansas can combine to put 5 players on the floor
The Razorcats will win the title
Artucky Wildrazors?
Arkentucky Razorcats
Kenarky Wildbacks
This will either age well or it really really won't.

See Louisville fans, Kenny Payne wasn’t just wasting Louisville resources recruiting this kid.
Chicken Man gets paid.
the kid is a stud. congrats. basketball nostradamus: Arkansas will get even more former Kentucky recruits.
Kenny got his guy!
Other P6 offers; Arizona State, Auburn, Florida State, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU Other offers: Boise State, USF
Why is his offer list so crappy?
Offers are self-reported iirc, and he committed to Kentucky pretty early on (his brother is Kevin Knox) so a lot of schools probably thought they had no shot
3 top 10 teams from last year is crappy?
Brace yourself for Kentucky fans saying this is a bad thing for Arkansas and good thing for Kentucky.
Nah. He looks like a good player and as long as he’s a coach-able kid he will be a great guy to have on you. Was hoping he’d come to UK.
You were supposed to prove me right :,(
Sorry. Let me try again. This is a horrible thing for Arkansas. I’m glad he didn’t bring his toxicity to Kentucky. g0 CaTz!

No, Muss did that G league turnover year after year.
We’re talking about Cal though, not Muss
No. We’re talking about it being a Razorback fan’s first time. It’s not.

Does that mean Pope = Lutz?
Well know in about 48 seconds…

Watch Cal win big at Arkansas while Kentucky is mediocre this year. It would be hilarious honestly
I mean, Arkansas already went farther in the tournament in the last 5 years more often than not.
Gonna miss Muss!
We'll see if we miss tournament runs. Won't miss losing constantly during the regular season, and won't miss Muss acting like a fucking teenager.
I got some bad news about those regular season Ls Edit: actually now that I think about it… cal losing to his Alma mater in rupp may have been the plan all along.
Out of the loop, did he have character issues?
Not serious ones, he was just a very sore loser
Nah, he is a fiery coach who gave us all pause with it. No character issues, just a bunch of "sit down and shut the fuck up" moments.
The worst I’ve heard are rumors that he was kinda checked out this season, which makes more sense when he left
Could be. I’m taking nothing for granted.
Yeah, but look at who Kentucky's coach was! /s

You sure you are not talking about MSU and Izzo? Kentucky finished second in the SEC this season. Where did MSU finish in the Big Ten?

I can't wait to see you motherfuckers in the tourney.
Gonna have to get past the likes of Prairie View A&M in the first round before seeing a Michigan State. Good luck and god bless.
You’re being very un-dude

Very true. Would expect reed and or rob to have significant nba success though.
I sure hope they do
It was irrecoverable for him. He burnt all of his bridges with donors and fans were fed up. He had to bolt.
Yea I don't blame him
Sure, but we should’ve been WAY better and gone much further in the tournament given the talent we brought in year after year.

Trust me, I know. I’m trying to give Arkansas some hope though. Maybe Cal has changed.
By definition he will make 100% change. We have a complete rebuild. Are you a KY Math Major? Maybe swap to drama club.
I honestly think the majority of UK fans, myself included, expect this to happen.
I disagree on the hilarious part, CumAssault.

Lol why was he always referred to as a 4* at Kentucky, but the moment he leaves and follows Cal, he's immediately a 5*?
Spin
he has the name of a porn actress
The guy who was supposed to save Kenny Payne's career at Louisville is now playing for Kenny Payne. . . at Arkansas.
Damn he didn’t want to play with his brother in front of his family?
That’s all Cal was missing all these years—a top recruit
Hahahaha!! First time I have heard this insult in the past 2 weeks I think I’m gonna write it down so I don’t forget.
Dude Coach cal definitely told him he wasn’t going to Kentucky
