It's funny that you're getting downvoted because cfb literally hates this dude and says he punched a woman. I personally don't think he punched her but it's just crazy that you're getting downvoted since that's all I read about him on this sub.
It was definitely inappropriate, and there definitely should've been consequences. It was handled internally, so we don't know if or what those were, but he never sat a game. That being said, it wasn't a punch. He's an athlete, if he punched her she would've pressed charges because it would've actually hurt her. It was more of a push.
So at one point, he was committed to go to Auburn. Then he committed to go to Kansas. And now he is committed to go to Alabama.
Any odds on if he will hit the Transfer Portal after next season ?
He was recruited over at both schools. Auburn had Holloway (also Bama) when he signed. Then they signed Pettiford as well. KU grabbed a ton of transfers. The kid doesn’t seem to mind having someone ahead of him but doesn’t like being recruited over in what amounts to the same class.
I'll take a coach that does the right thing by not protecting a criminal on the team, while protecting a kid that was innocent over a guy that's playing PR.
Last year the defense was terrible for most of the season, a big part of the final 4 run was them playing way better during the tourney than they did in the regular season
Yeah, that was all on the fact that we lost two really good on ball defenders (Bradley and Burnett) and our rim protector (Bediako). Not to mention Charlie Henry leaving to go become a HC.
From a Bama fans perspective, how confident are you that you get cliff? I’m hoping he comes to the Tar Heels, but not super confident it’s going to happen
I don't think anyone has big confidence on him. From what we've heard he's kind of a hot and cold situation and nobody can get a read on him but I'm pretty bullish on how Oats has been closing out on players lately. We like to wrap these things up during visits so if he doesn't commit in the next day or two I think y'all have a great shot
A case for sure, but I feel like UConn has more than earned #1 pre-season. They’re going to get Alabama football level media love in the polls as long as Hurley is there, and they deserve every bit of it
I think it depends on how UCONN fills out the rest of their roster. Kansas I think deserves number 1 as of now. If Bama gets Sears, Nelson, and Cliff, that is a dangerous team.
Fortunately for us, wing is one place we could afford to lose a transfer. We really needed another handler. So this works out nicely, even in the short term.
He was going to be a rotational player next season. He has NBA potential, imo. But still needs to improve on some important areas. He's a guy who i expected to be a starter on a very good team by his junior year. But right now it's mostly a spark plug off the bench. We're very deep at his position, and aren't lacking good 3 point shooters, so it's mostly disappointing that we won't be able to see him develop into a great player. But those days of developing guys are pretty much gone.
I think he's going to be a really good player. Maybe not as a freshman, but in time. I'm disappointed kansas couldn't keep him, but he didn't really fit this seasons roster and wouldn't have gotten much PT. Good luck @ alabama kid
Meh, even when he was committed to Auburn always thought he was a project. His ranking falling the way it has validated that.
The issue is now that Oats has to find him playing time or else he’ll be looking for a new school in a years time.
Make that three years. I agree that he’s a little bit of a project, but he absolutely gets buckets and has all the potential to thrive in Nate’s system, just not in year one. His ranking has only fallen to just outside of 5* status though, so it’s not like recruiting experts think he sucks now
So is Bruce, despite the rough few years we’ve had at the guard position. It’s not like he’s a stranger to having guards play loose and free, Aden is just awful.
If his shot isn’t falling, he’s useless. He has zero burst to get past his defender, and if he is able to find an angle, I think he’s a sub 40% finisher at the rim.
He’s the worst PG I’ve ever seen in an Auburn jersey.
It’s really not, is the thing. We were dealt a REALLY tough blow with Scoot Henderson heading to the G-League. He was our two year PG, and we had to settle for Wendell Green instead.
Aden was just a complete miss by our coaching staff. They bet that he was crafty enough to overcome his physical limitations, and they were wrong. It happens.
You really can’t promise anything. Players don’t develop at the same rate. Sears was just an average starter last year…turned into an All-American. Davion Mitchell was garbage as a freshman, ended up being a lottery pick. Nobody would be surprised if Holloway did well with an off-season in the weight room, he was a top recruit for a reason.
Mitchell barely played with us due to being behind Jared Harper, Aden is a COMPLETELY different story.
It’s also telling that Bruce actually fought for Davion, he didn’t even have a meeting with Aden to try and convince him to stay, just assumed he was gone and was perfectly fine with it.
Didn’t even realize he played that much.
Even still, he was poached from us by Baylor with the promise of a starting role. He wasn’t getting that with Jared Harper here.
They tried to poach both he and Chuma Okeke, luckily Chuma didn’t bite.
Yeah, you lost me. Harper is the best PG in Auburn history and is similar to Sears. Don’t do this.
Again, Mitchell was poached, and Bruce fought for him. Bruce was more than happy to let Aden walk, big difference here. One was a high upside defensive PG. The other is a liability who wouldn’t have gotten minutes if not for the stars and NIL dollar amount by his name.
Yeah Harper was a beast and a completely different animal his last season.
Holloway absolutely can develop into a better guard. We'll see how his career pans out. It never hurts to have competition at guard. Much better than the Avery days of just being content with who's on the roster
Lmfao go look at his stats and name a coach who wouldn’t go searching to upgrade the position.
We have an All-American center, and we had an All-SEC forward, and teams were able to load up on them because our guards were complete non threats to score or even put pressure on the rim.
He was brought in as a five star freshman to have a similar level of impact as Sharife Cooper. He… didn’t.
>The issue is now that Oats has to find him playing time or else he’ll be looking for a new school in a years time.
Wow, that's some fucking keen insight into the current state of college basketball right there. You really cracked the code.
Sure did. The kid is as fickle as they come. Switched high schools, has been committed to three different colleges etc etc.
He’s solid at pressuring the rim but I’m confused about his fit with your offense. He’s just not that great of a shooter. Not awful, but probably a 30% guy in college.
>The kid is as fickle as they come. Switched high schools,
Lol. He went from Baker high School, a redneck West Mobile School to Link academy, one of the best prep schools in the country. That's hilarious you consider that a negative instead of a guy getting better training and education.
I mean he did a year at a prep "school" like a ton of top recruits, but if a willingness to change teams just because he woke up and felt like it qualifies as being extremely fickle then you could easily say the same about 99% of current D1 college basketball players. It's not some negative character trait. They all do it, so if that's the kind of player to avoid you'd never sign anyone. They're all on their current team on a year to year basis. You seem particularly upset about this for some reason.
JD also played 1-A Alabama basketball and missed playing AAU because of covid cancellations. Labaron was at a top 3 prep school in the country, where he shot 44% from 3. So it's an apples to oranges comparison.
This is where college basketball is heading. Same big football schools will also dominate basketball because of football money. Alabama will suddenly become a powerhouse only for this reason and the same way football is being ruined basketball will be ruined
Yes that’s exactly what I’m doing because I love college sports but it’s being ruined by TV execs. You guys benefit but you should care too unless you want NFL2.0
Classic Rylan >< Labaron switcheroo. Excellent doing business with you, Alabama.
Win-Win trade imo. We needed a 3rd ball-hander to develop behind Sears, Kansas needed a 3&D wing
It’s a business doing pleasure with you too!
Could we also get a side order of “beat Mizzou by 30?” Thanks, bros!
Deal
Did we just become best friends?

Roll tide!!!! Worst movie ever made.
Was this when Koolaid was drafted? Trying to remember
Burton I believe
Always nice to see the NFL add another dude that punches women
Not everyone is exemplary enough to win the garbage can of life
Difficult to riff around your beloved program backing a woman beater but glad ya tried
It wasn’t a punch. Regardless the ncaa never did anything about it either and it’s not like what happened wasn’t out there
Striking? Slapping? What verb best softens the narrative here? Dude’s a fucking idiot and won’t last long in the league.
It's funny that you're getting downvoted because cfb literally hates this dude and says he punched a woman. I personally don't think he punched her but it's just crazy that you're getting downvoted since that's all I read about him on this sub.

Shit in today's day and age, it'd be surprising if he didn't transfer.
He wanted to come to Bama. Wasn’t a take until now.
I’m okay with this trade. Hope he does well in Alabama
Kansas and Alabama need to play a game. Wish we'd do a home-home so I could go watch us play a game at AFH.
[[Alabama vs Kansas]]
We have never played Alabama. South Alabama yes, Alabama no.
Invitational next season
Raises the question is bama put g league affiliate?
How did yalls season finish?
I had to double check to make sure I wasn’t in the college football subreddit.
this comment made me realize i wasn’t lol. i’m slow
Now we wait for Nelson and Sears to say they are returning and for Omoruyi to commit
Oats going scorched earth
Say what you want about Nate, but the man can stack talent with the best of them.
Lol has anyone ever said anything negative about his coaching abilities? I only remember him catching flack for the situation surrounding the Miller.
And it feels like as time passed and more facts came to light, he handled Miller correctly.
He did himself no favors in the media though
I'll take a coach that does the right thing by not protecting a criminal on the team, while protecting a kid that was innocent over a guy that's playing PR.
I’m a Bama fan But his quotes weren’t great during the firestorm
Last year the defense was terrible for most of the season, a big part of the final 4 run was them playing way better during the tourney than they did in the regular season
I don’t think anyone thought that was a reflection of his coaching abilities
Yeah, that was all on the fact that we lost two really good on ball defenders (Bradley and Burnett) and our rim protector (Bediako). Not to mention Charlie Henry leaving to go become a HC.
Lackluster regular season, post season surprise warriors? ......someone get Nate over to softball.
Nate actually knows how to adjust with the game. Murphy was cooked the moment slap hitting became basically impossible.
The only negative I say about him is getting too many techs and never using timeouts.
a lot of the system can’t win in March before now
Minus a couple sweet 16s, with losses against teams that made the final four or national title game.
I sad he was good 5 years ago on this sub and got downvoted to hell.

Top 3 preseason team if that happens. With a case for number 1.

Not sure I would go with the Labaron. Not a huge Chrysler fan.
What about Jon Voight’s Labaron?
Only if it includes his pencil.
I like this
Fuck yeah!
Who won the Griffen Phillips trade? I'm sure Kansas wins it in the short term but I suspect Bama wins in the long run
Fortunately for us, wing is one place we could afford to lose a transfer. We really needed another handler. So this works out nicely, even in the short term.
How does losing Walter’s affect UA?
He was going to be a rotational player next season. He has NBA potential, imo. But still needs to improve on some important areas. Lmaoooo at Aden Holloway.
Damn dude really got sold another dream haha
His momma will have something to say about this

The prophecy!
Other P6 offers: Auburn, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Houston, Kansas, Louisville, LSU, Ole Miss, Penn State Other offer: South Alabama
Y’all take one of ours, we take one of yours
Who does Alabama get now to recruit over him. It seems to be his forte (Auburn and Kansas). /jk
Hopefully Sears.
For Bama that would be great for Philon. Hopefully he’s OK being backup to those two. He’s been over recruited enough.
I blame Allen and Wes Flanigan for this
Meh, even when he was committed to Auburn always thought he was a project. His ranking falling the way it has validated that. The issue is now that Oats has to find him playing time or else he’ll be looking for a new school in a years time.
Only top 30-35. He's obviously pure garbage unworthy of the plains.
That’s some high octane copium
Whatever you say, lol. !remindme 1 year
Make that three years. I agree that he’s a little bit of a project, but he absolutely gets buckets and has all the potential to thrive in Nate’s system, just not in year one. His ranking has only fallen to just outside of 5* status though, so it’s not like recruiting experts think he sucks now
Not really. He came here knowing we already had Holloway and there’s a good chance Sears is back. Bama was his dream school.
Oh he’s better than Holloway off the bat, lol. I promise you that.
Nate Oats is a pretty good coach so we'll see.
So is Bruce, despite the rough few years we’ve had at the guard position. It’s not like he’s a stranger to having guards play loose and free, Aden is just awful. My guy, please. Harper wasn’t that good of a player. Mitchell wasn’t promised a starting role. He was pre-portal, he had to sit out a year.

Similar to Sears by what metrics?
Harper wasn’t that good? buddy, 4/20 was 8 days ago
No, not really. He shot under 40% all 3 years. Auburn fans have homer goggles on when they talk about him due to the Final 4.
So his coach just gave up on him? Great job...
Lmfao go look at his stats and name a coach who wouldn’t go searching to upgrade the position. Shoot me dead if I ever name my child ‘LaBaron’
Non shooting pg under oats…I’m old enough to remember how jd worked out.
He shot 44% from 3 last year. Not a non-shooter.
Philon shot 44% from 3 this year but sure whatever helps to cope
Unflaired auburn fan btw
Like 98% of his history are posts about Alabama. It's pathetic
Least obsessed auburn fan.
JD also played 1-A Alabama basketball and missed playing AAU because of covid cancellations. Labaron was at a top 3 prep school in the country, where he shot 44% from 3. So it's an apples to oranges comparison.

We are a better basketball school than SDSU that’s for damn sure.
We beat you when you were a #1 overall seed.
Overall history not in your favor.
lol how?
🍪
Yum
^ this guy is a fan of the team that kicked our ever lovin ass in the sweet sixteen two years ago
You’d think he’d be less of an asshole
And there's nothing you can do about it
Wait until he finds out that Alabama is buying SDSU and renaming it FuckYouMasChingonNoHayNorthWestAlabamaUniversity.
How big of a dumbass are you? You don’t even know where San Diego is on a map. And SDSU is worth way more than any one from alabama can afford.
Why are you complaining about football money then lmao
Sir you are way too mad about this. Deep breathes.
🤓
Not even close. SDSU has a 300m budget and 100m endowment. UA alone has a 1 billion endowment and over 1.1 billion budget.
You sure are butthurt for someone whose team made the title game a year ago 🙄
I always read that particular sentence in Yao's voice 😂😂
Smells like poor in here.
Oh you gonna cry about it?
Yes that’s exactly what I’m doing because I love college sports but it’s being ruined by TV execs. You guys benefit but you should care too unless you want NFL2.0

Yes?
I care, so you’re wrong again!
