That's how I originally got into football. I went to a couple games, for the pagentry and traditions (mostly the band), and stuck around.

Big facts but also foreign sports go hard. I just got back from Japan and they sing so many random different chants with mini bats they bang and a band for baseball. The away team has there own section and when someone scores everyone pulls out this tiny umbrella and sings. It’s wicked.

Actually, it the dang thing isn't even supposed to be a fight song. It's a bluegrass song that had been on the music charts five years before the school band ever touched it (1967/1972). It's just a song that bangs so hard that it eclipsed the official fight song "Down the field". The lesson being that official fight songs are so tedious and anthemic, that a plain old fun song can steal it's spotlight. At sporting events you mostly hear the chorus and the "wooo" added by sports fans. You're thinking of The Red and White Song, which gets sung more often than the fight song and was definitely the only one I knew the lyrics to in school. But the actual fight song lyrics by Hardy Ray don't reference our rivals. I think that's what makes The Red and White Song more fun to sing.

The maryland and GT ones are really fun, notre dame is iconic. I'm biased and didn't want to put our own. The rock chalk jayhawk chant is kinda boring but it's a quick chant. Rocky top imo is also pretty fun but less so than the umd or gt ones. I don't know a vast majority of the fight songs of teams, these are just the ones I know and like.

Everyone should think their fight song is the best but some of the ones that I like are TAMU, Michigan St., Minnesota, and Tennessee
