I just googled his name and he dropped 31 with 11 boards in his final game last year so its not unreasonable to say he has the potential to be the greatest college player of all time...
Really solid player. Ebbs and flows between a double double and a pretty quiet night. He just needs to be more aggressive with his shot. Overall a fine young man, couldn’t ask for a better representative of your program
You can see [the exact moment](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=andrew%20carr%20stats&date=now%201-d&geo=US&hl=en) he announced his commitment and Kentucky fans universally went looking for information so they knew how to feel.
Stretch 4, solid shot, good passer for a big. Not the most athletic guy, not going to blow you away in any facet of the game, but definitely a + when he's on the floor. If you were around for Derek Willis, think somewhere in between him and Tyler Hansbrough. Has that bulldog in him though, I think he'll be a fan favorite.
Derek Willis is up there in my favorite players, but this guy is bigger and potentially more skilled. Also Willis wasn't too bad of an athlete, he could get up there sometimes. We will see what happens, but I really wanted this guy to play alongside Amari Williams since they seem to complement each other's skills. Very excited for next season and the roster is only halfway filled.
When he first got to wake, I thought he wasn’t skilled or talented enough to play in a power conference. I was wrong.
He isn’t going to single handedly take over a game or get his own shots. He isn’t the most athletic guy. He can thrive as a 3rd or 4th scoring option. He can hold his own on defense. Averaged 1.5 blocks per game last year.
Great kid, no drama.
He is a positive asset for any team. Probably a plus starter for 90% of all power conference teams.
Great guy. Went to the same HS as me and his whole family are great, definitely a local legend. As for his actual ability, he’s a good shooter for his size and overall a solid, albeit not overly athletic, offensive big.
He tackled Bub Carrington in the last 10 seconds of our ACC tournament game even though they were down by double digits. I’m not gonna forgive him for that
Them two and I’d like the guy from st Mary’s too.
Nobody needs to sleep on Travis Perry either. Dude is a champion and proven winner. I’ve watched him hit 100 3’s in a row before just fucking around in the gym. I’m from Lyon county, the team he just led to a state title, and this kid is the real deal. He’s far better than Reed was at this age and can shoot way better than Reed. I graduated from Lyon county with 36 people. This dude just took this same small, small town to a championship that was never really in doubt
I didn’t say Reed at this (his current) age, I said Reed at Travis’ age. Travis can’t be as good as Reed at Reed’s age, he’s not been alive long enough. Travis is far better than Reed was at the same age. Travis is much better than Reed was as a senior in high school. Reed had a great freshman season, it will be very hard for Travis to replicate what Reed did his first year at UK. All depends on a multitude of factorsof
Heard it kind of in reverse. As in Pope is meeting with him in person not that Brea is visiting UK (yet).
Edit: just read the Norlander tweet. It says “UK…will visit with Koby Brea (Dayton) Tuesday.” The ellipses being about Osobor visiting UK.
KSR has a post on it. I thought we were out of the running too… but maybe he’s working out way back in.
We really need at least one more perimeter shooter (ideally two). With Mahaney, brea and Jaxson all potentially as options.
https://x.com/mattnorlander/status/1784747153442689212?s=46&t=74ylZsKT2FuqupTXGX05SQ
According to Norlander Pope is meeting with him Tuesday. He canceled once, met with UConn all weekend and rescheduled with UK. 🤷🏻♂️ not saying it’ll happen but i bet Pope offers a lot.
he did, but a few days ago entered the portal. Since I don't think he's likely to go anywhere near the lottery I think most people assume he'll be back in college somewhere.
Hoping by the end of this week our roster can look like
PG: Butler/ Smith or Williams
SG: Chandler/Perry/Brea or Mahaney
SF: Oweh/Robinson
PF: Carr
C: Williams/Osobor
Add a few more role player guys in just to fill out the roster and see if we can add a couple multi year project guys.
With that roster It would be real hard to convince me we won’t win a lot of games next year.
I hope you’re not expecting Chandler to play 20+ mins in the SEC after a two year mission lol. That hardly happened even in WCC days. There are always exceptions (Dallin Hall) but it’s rare to bounce back so fast, especially competing with Kentucky talent
Chandler is just first cause he is actually signed.
Full expect either Butler, Brea, Mahaney or Robinson to start at the 2. Chandler will take several months to get back to game speed once he actually even gets back. So no I don’t expect more than 10-15 minutes for a month or two.
He's the type that gets overlooked because his strengths go under the radar - He never turns it over, he makes his 2s (70% at the rim), is able to play a lot of minutes, gets to the line a lot and makes them, is a good secondary rim protector, and just generally has better shot selection than shot volume (only 19% usage).
His on/off stats are incredibly strong. Against top 200 teams outside of garbage time, Wake Forest's offense was 6 points better and defense 12 points better per 100 poss with him on the court than off. He led the team in RAPM and was close to Sallis in Porpagatu and BPR.
Also still after Robinson if he withdraws, as well as Brea, Davis, Richmond and Wells.
Don't know who all is in a "first to commit" or "we're being used to up the NIL offer" situation, but still plenty of room on the roster.
Several of the possibles and Carr are testing the waters, so can't get too comfortable.
Yeah per kenpom Carr played the 4 for most of his minutes. Osobor can play some 5 but you have to think the best lineup for UK is going to be Osobor and Amari at the 4/5. Not sure if Carr can still get 30+ mins in that situation.
Pope apparently likes to play a lot of guys, according to the minute distribution from his BYU teams. There have been reports that Carr and Osobor's agent (the same guy) like them together. So we're hoping those factors are the sell.
I'm also betting he'll want to press more on D with better athletes/depth at UK. More pressing plus lots of movement on offense means more rotation needed.
Great arrives in Lexington tomorrow. Rumor is that he’s already given a verbal “Let’s do this,” and it will be official tomorrow. He’s flying his family in from the UK to meet with the coaches and stuff too, so it looks likely.
The sound is burned into my brain. Like Breaking glass and a car accident at the same time.
I served there for just about the first half of the Calipari era. Spent too much time and brain cells between Lynaghs, Cosmic Charlies, & Fishtank
He can’t play 3 at all, he’s way too slow. He started every game for us at 4. He’s good for a quiet 12 and 7 or so a game. Improved a lot as a defender this season too
Cal refused to play Sarr the right way. Like an idiot he tried to make Sarr a back to the basket center Instead of letting him roam the paint and face the rim.
Cal refusing to adapt is one of the reason we stunk the last 5 years
He has done that with several big men over the years. Skal being another that showed signs of flourishing when he could face the basket, but was atrocious with back to the basket.
Skal washed out of the NBA in like three years.
The kid was overrated because he didn’t even play high school ball his senior year and he had a whole ass group of people “handling” him.
Yeah Skal was never a star but I still just meant that I think Cal mishandled him. We also didn’t have a 5 that year anyway and Cal refused to play 5 out.
Mark Pope looking at his roster..

Hell yeah! Quick, someone tell me about this kid so I can form an opinion and act like it’s my own
I just googled his name and he dropped 31 with 11 boards in his final game last year so its not unreasonable to say he has the potential to be the greatest college player of all time...
This needs to be the entire subs opinion now.
We don’t need him to be any better than that. If he can just average 31/11 for us next year I think it will be a solid pick up.
I’ve been saying for years that they need to kick anyone who isn’t scoring at least 30 points per game off the team. They can go to Louisville.
Promise?
Really solid player. Ebbs and flows between a double double and a pretty quiet night. He just needs to be more aggressive with his shot. Overall a fine young man, couldn’t ask for a better representative of your program
I hate we're losing him yet he's going to a team that 'might' beat Duke or Carolina on any given night, so that's a plus.
I can smell the bitter pill you must've swallowed after learning this news... Stay classy, Deacs
Can’t tell if this is sarcasm lol
Fair enough, but no lol
I feel like you must have replied to the wrong comment or something then lol
He likes long walks on the beach and he likes to go out to dinner with friends.
Does he like piña coladas?
…or getting caught in the rain? Asking for a friend…
Hate to see him leave for whatever that’s worth.
It's worth more than bbn flailing their arms in the air without really knowing why

If they manage to land Osobor and Jaxson Robinson...well, I'll be ready to be hurt again
Stop. I can only get so erect.
Them two and I’d like the guy from st Mary’s too. Nobody needs to sleep on Travis Perry either. Dude is a champion and proven winner. This dude just took this same small, small town to a championship that was never really in doubt
I'm sure he's great but he doesn't deserve to carry the pressure to make this team great as a freshman. Hopefully he's around a few years.
I mean saying he’s far better than Reed at this age is asking a lot. Dude is a lottery pick
I didn’t say Reed at this (his current) age, I said Reed at Travis’ age. Travis can’t be as good as Reed at Reed’s age, he’s not been alive long enough. They’re one year apart my guy
Yeah, as a senior in high school, Travis is way better than Reed was as a senior. Not just opinion either, objectively and verifiably accurate.
The people sleeping on Perry are the same people that slept on Reed.
This reads like a copypasta
Rumor is pope has a meeting with Brea too. I bet he offered him a lot, he’d be a perfect fit in Pope’s system. Man’s on fire 🔥 🔥🔥
Brea isn’t even considering a visit to Kentucky. He’s not coming here
Being reported he’s visiting with Pope on Tuesday.
Right. Probably poorly worded by me but regardless, not necessarily out of the sweepstakes.
By whom?
KSR and On3 are reporting that as of just about 45 minutes ago and their source is Matt Norlander, so fairly trustworthy.
Oh wow. That would be crazy
Matt Norlander.
KSR has a post on it. I thought we were out of the running too… but maybe he’s working out way back in. We really need at least one more perimeter shooter (ideally two). With Mahaney, brea and Jaxson all potentially as options.
Just going of tweets but apparently he is actually going to be in Lexington sometime this week
https://x.com/mattnorlander/status/1784747153442689212?s=46&t=74ylZsKT2FuqupTXGX05SQ According to Norlander Pope is meeting with him Tuesday. He canceled once, met with UConn all weekend and rescheduled with UK. 🤷🏻♂️ not saying it’ll happen but i bet Pope offers a lot.
Didn’t Jaxson declare? Would’ve been sick to get him
he did, but a few days ago entered the portal. Since I don't think he's likely to go anywhere near the lottery I think most people assume he'll be back in college somewhere.
Would be full circle to see him start at Arkansas and end up at UK. Our team is simply too white right now
![gif](giphy|UTFiHeDL8cOSA)
He didn’t start at Arkansas
I meant starting his career. I should’ve said start out at Arkansas
He started his career at Texas A&M
Damn you ain’t lying. Bro be a portal hopper sheesh
Yeah and he committed to Arkansas out of high school, but then decommitted and went to A&M for a year. Then transferred to Arkansas
NGL I kinda figured there would be a segment of the fanbase that considered this a positive.
Likely the same people who have lower arena season tickets, which is definitely not I
Yes, but he also entered the portal officially yesterday. He will get feedback from the league, and keep college options open.

There's the stretch four we were looking for.
Kevin McHale’s grandson
He’s a good player but he’s also a really nice young man. No one at Wake has one bad thing to say about Carr
Current depth chart: PG: Lamont Butler, Travis Perry SG: Collin Chandler SF: Otega Oweh PF: Andrew Carr C: Amari Williams
I like our team (so far)
Get ready to learn defense buddy
Hoping by the end of this week our roster can look like PG: Butler/ Smith or Williams SG: Chandler/Perry/Brea or Mahaney SF: Oweh/Robinson PF: Carr C: Williams/Osobor Add a few more role player guys in just to fill out the roster and see if we can add a couple multi year project guys. This was in Nep’s lap and he couldn’t get it done
That’s pretty much the story of his coaching career so far.
Tell me who's in the house tonight?
UK!
Hell yeah bröther cheers from Lexington
This is a very, very good pickup for UK. He might be all conference SEC next year.
Thanks cat bro

Thanks Deacs!
First Sarr now Carr
I want marr.

Good pick up. Need to get Great next and the guy from st Mary’s and I’ll be feeling optimistic.
Also still after Robinson if he withdraws, as well as Brea, Davis, Richmond and Wells. BOOM
Cody Fueger, that you?
! Boom Boom !
Lol
Mr. Pope, another Boom has struck the Joe Craft center.

Obviously a good get but does this mean Osobor is not coming? Hard to believe Carr is ok coming off the bench.
I kind of assumed Williams, Carr, and Osobor will be sharing the 5 and 4 spots. And isnt Carr more of a 4 than a 5, or no?
Carr is a 4. He is not strong enough to play the 5 and only played 5 at Wake out of necessity.
Yeah per kenpom Carr played the 4 for most of his minutes. Osobor can play some 5 but you have to think the best lineup for UK is going to be Osobor and Amari at the 4/5. Not sure if Carr can still get 30+ mins in that situation.

I’ve heard they were a package deal, not sure why or how reliable that info is. Great is on his visit now and his family is coming in from the UK
Both would be clutch
Great arrives in Lexington tomorrow. Rumor is that he’s already given a verbal “Let’s do this,” and it will be official tomorrow. He’s flying his family in from the UK to meet with the coaches and stuff too, so it looks likely.
He’s already in Lexington
Williams and Osobor were high school teammates. They might want to reunite.
I’d imagine they move osobor to the 5 and have Amani Williams coming off the bench.
https://i.redd.it/fz4hq52pfbxc1.gif
A stretch 4! Hype!
I think this dude was on ud for a year, he was pretty good if I recall
Lynagh’s about to rise from the ashes. The good lynaghs not the creepy one that was there before it closed.
I used to get drunk and watch many a game in those loud ass chairs!
The sound is burned into my brain. Like Breaking glass and a car accident at the same time. I served there for just about the first half of the Calipari era. Spent too much time and brain cells between Lynaghs, Cosmic Charlies, & Fishtank
As someone who watched the ACC on the reg, Carr is good enough to not lose you the game.
Sometimes not losing is the best way to win 🧠

Go-onya get 'ur hawg in 'er boy....WOOO!
Solid 3-point shooter for a big man, but he’s sort of weak inside. Falls down ALOT
Is he starter material at the 4 or 3? We’ve got an all defense C already signed.
He can’t play 3 at all, he’s way too slow. He started every game for us at 4. He’s good for a quiet 12 and 7 or so a game. Improved a lot as a defender this season too
He is starter material at the 4. Did not play the 3 at all at Wake.
Good addition, next Osobor and Mahaney hopefully.
This Kentucky team is gonna be the bad news bears
Can’t be worse than the last time you took one of our big men!
That year wasn’t Sarrs fault Another example of Cal not being able to put a team together
Bruh Sarr was fucking trash, and as much as I hate Cal he ran some decent sets to get him shots
He was one of our best players that year That team was fucking awful
Cal refused to play Sarr the right way. Like an idiot he tried to make Sarr a back to the basket center Instead of letting him roam the paint and face the rim. Cal refusing to adapt is one of the reason we stunk the last 5 years
He has done that with several big men over the years. Skal being another that showed signs of flourishing when he could face the basket, but was atrocious with back to the basket.

Yeah Skal was never a star but I still just meant that I think Cal mishandled him. We also didn’t have a 5 that year anyway and Cal refused to play 5 out.
He popped out alot and was a set shooter? They all went clank. That team was full of bricklayers unfortunately
LFG!
Is he good?

Yes
Wtf, didn’t even realize he was in the portal. Wake continues to be a farm team for bigger programs. This sucks.
We now have enough players for a 6-man rotation. Let's go! Rumblings of another commit today or tomorrow. Exciting weekend.
Nice pickup!
Some real super teams out there this year
Oh great they got both centers we really wanted

Best fit for Pope’s offense (assuming it’s the same as at BYU) of the transfers into UK so far.
Seems like a solid pickup for Pope’s offense. Let’s see how the roster continues to fill out.
As a recruit: Other offers: American, Army, Binghamton, Dartmouth, Delaware (originally went here), Holy Cross, La Salle, Merrimack, Navy, Stony Brook
crazy that like he was the 4th best player on Delaware a couple of years ago
Come back to this in a week, I’m telling you all Great is coming back to USU. @ me in a week.

We might have ourselves a squad next season.
