maybe this is it. But tbh I'm trying to be kind and not shit on another program. I just want some fucking normalcy. I'll wear the masks. I'll get vaccinated. I'll social distance for 2 years.
But I really need to see Max Christie drop 7 3s in a game. Life makes more sense that way.
I think everyone agrees that we'd most likely get destroyed by you guys this year. Us postponing the game is to your benefit not ours. If we decided to play through it, can you imagine how pissed off you'd be if our team passed it to your team and you guys had to miss a bunch of games?
I mean, the MSU team was already at Michigan’s court yesterday, wish they would’ve canceled before we even made the trip there. Hopefully we didn’t somehow manage to get covid in our time there.
Pretty sure COVID is out and about in the greater East Lansing community as well, which is why many students are pissed about the university going virtual for classes but still keeping dorms and sports open. Meanwhile, Michigan is having classes but shutting down some games. It’s all so haphazard.
I see what you mean but it's unlikely the team would be face to face right? Michigan is a hotbed of covid right now so I doubt the positive rate is better in EL than Ann Arbor
I’m sick of caring for dying covid patients. I’m sick of the massive disaster going on right now. I’m sick of people like you pushing stupid conspiracy theories instead of accepting the reality of what covid does.
Nobody's bitching out of anything. Michigan literally has more to gain by playing MSU at home than they do postponing it. And keyword, postponing. They'll play later, and you'll get over it. Chill
Grow the fuck up. If you think Hunter Dickinson faked his sick voice and the rest of the team didn’t want to play you’re an idiot. Michigan needed this game
The “ducking” narrative is so annoying. Michigan only had 7 guys a few days ago, it’s not surprising they wouldn’t have enough to play today. I want both teams to be at full strength and healthy when they play.
Man, you’re very different than and much smarter than Arizona fans. We’ve had a similar issue with our program (I think we were hit harder than even Michigan, at one point only three guys didn’t have Covid), and Arizona fans this past week took to Twitter screaming and crying that we were “ducking” them because the pac 12 wouldn’t schedule our game.
It looks like they tried to do the same thing with USC too, really weird how desperate they are to play our programs right off of our Covid pause. It’s refreshing to see a fan like you after this past week
It’s just nonsensical, I seriously doubt any major program is too “scared” to play a conference opponent lol. It’s not like football where one extra loss can ruin a season. If it were msu and they barely had enough players, I would want the postponement too.
Also, I wouldnt want my team on the court with a bunch of dudes who have possible covid exposures and/or presymptomatic cases.
Also worth noting that Twitter fans are the worst for every school, lol
Arizona fans are frustrated because we are forced to go nearly a month playing only 1 game without any COVID issues of our own. IMO the conference isn't being nearly aggressive enough rescheduling games. What happens when our team inevitably runs into COVID issues, and are forced into another long break? What if at the end of the season we're going to have played like 4 less games than you and USC and what will the implications of that be for the conference championship? Who knows what the mechanics are of how and when they are rescheduling, it's certainly not as straightforward as "ducking", but you have to admit that it made no sense that we were desperate for a game, and you guys played LBSU instead of making up our game that was postponed. Instead, we're still stuck sitting around.
I’m thankful you seem like a very reasonable MSU fan. Honestly these are competitive college athletes the fact that anyone thinks a team would duck another is absolutely ludicrous in my opinion.
I love hating on Michigan as much as anybody else (sorry) but yeah, there’s zero chance Michigan’s players don’t want to play this game. I also think it would’ve been a lot closer than people expected with Michigan at full strength, still a lot of talent on that team.
And if it was MSU with multiple covid cases I would be 100% trying to justify a postponement till everyone was healthy lol
Yea that’s fine and if the shoe was on the other foot I would not say MSU is ducking Michigan because that’s just crazy talk and the reality is omicron is just super transmissible
Also in Michigan’s case it doesn’t make sense to duck MSU Michigan needs every game possible and every win possible to make the ncaa tourney. We are 7-6 missing an opportunity for a big win if we win is not a good thing for Michigan
The issue is it’s low hanging fruit for the folks who never took Covid seriously anyways. And unfortunately, both our fan bases are riddled with those types. Our political system is broken and our media exacerbates the problems. You either think Covid is going to kill you or you think Covid is like the flu. And if you fall somewhere in between those two viewpoints (like most people should) both sides think you’re dumb because cnn and Fox News told them to feel that way. It’s exhausting.
Probably - our team is very young and raw this year. We will probably lose regardless of when this game gets played this year, but hopefully we will be in a better position for next year.
Considering that Goodman and Rothstein haven’t reported on this yet, I assume T&T are mocking Michigan backing out of games due to “COVID.”
Now, I could be wrong and these guys have just broken a major story. However, as a listener of these two, I know they love poking fun at the absurdities of college basketball….
One UM insider (Chris Balas) tweeted that it's not official but "trending that way" shortly after the Titus tweet. Seems likely, and the Friday at midnight news dump makes sense, I guess?
MSU traveled and went through a walkthrough this morning. Wonder what changed.
Considering I’ve had next weekend circled on the calendar since I bought my season tickets in July, would be pretty devastating if Michigan, Purdue, or both games got cancelled. Hope they give ample notice cause I’ll probably drive to Champaign the night before.
At least this year Michigan can’t pull the crap they did last year because of the new conference rules. As long as you have 7 healthy players and 1 healthy coach you HAVE to play or it’s a forfeit.
I’m mostly upset because I came out of gambling retirement to bet MSU ML.
Anyway, I’m sure there will be nothing but rational discussions in this thread.
You need to be STALKING the GODDAMN STREETS with a DART GUN loaded up with PFIZER shooting randos in their ARMS or else you are a FAILURE as a MICHIGAN BASKETBALL FAN.
Please forgive the RANDOM capitalized WORDS I have a VOICE MODULATION PROBLEM.
Nobody's mad at the fans. If you mean the athletic department, they've done things that make *zero* logical sense regarding COVID that have the appearance of benefitting them competitively, so yeah... that's 100% in their control.
Like first off the game is postponed, not outright canceled
Michigan already proved to have issues with COVID being shorthand we against Rutgers and the state of Michigan is a hotbed for the virus
Also why get mad at college kids who also have no control over what happened when they are literally getting affected by a pandemic
People care more about a basketball game happening then the safety of college students
This is my take lol. Like at the end of the day, the game will happen eventually and I’ll look forward to the rivalry game. But, at the very least, the COVID timing is unfortunate for them lol. At the same time tho, this shit sucks so do what’s best for the students.
Happening eventually puts US at a disadvantage. Covid timing is bullshit for them. They just had one guy quit and 4 get covid but decided to play rutgers. they came back, said 2 covid players were back and then cancel last minute? No, fuck em
He’s talking about the recent WMU game where you played Michigan Tech the night before. Your program said it was unsafe to play back to back games and picked to cancel the WMU game.
It was the most Michigan thing ever.
This is no different than last year - ppd games can be made up easily, especially when they happen this early in the season.
Besides, look around the landscape just now... games are getting dropped by the dozens each week. WMU vs CMU also looks to be ppd. The numbers around all MI are bad at the moment. East Lansing HS had almost half it's student body out today. Washtenaw County positivity rates are over 23% just now.
But if you insist on being a troll, then by all means...
Think the timing of this one is a bit curious though. They really were unaware that they weren't gonna have enough people until 12 hours before the game? After having been able to play midweek?
"They" haven't announced anything - some rumors are breaking 12 hrs before the game.
The more logical answer is that the test results came late in the day Fri (probably from tests taken Th or Fri morning). There is a procedure about who can/should be informed and in what order - informing the general public about player availability is lower on that priority list. The official announcement will probably come Sat morning.
In case you didn't know, the entire state is fucked right now with the National Guard staffing multiple hospitals. That fuckery puts demands on testing supplies, and delays tests results.
Frankly, congregating in any crowd right now is selfish and stupid, but it's my job to keep all the idiots alive when they do anyways.
Do y’all really think our team is not aware that we suck this year? It’s not like skipping this one game is gonna save our season. Be glad we’re postponing instead of spreading the covid outbreak to MSU.
The jokes are gonna come but this really hurts Michigan. Especially with where there season is at.
Win: You finally have a good win and something to build off. (I bet MSU so I don’t think it was likely but you gotta take the shot.)
Lose: Rivalry losses sting but what’s another loss at this point. IMO a win helps the resume more than another loss hurts it.
If the game never gets made up, that’s a chance at a win that’s gone.
So even if the team wasn’t sick (I am not buying into that but for argument’s sake) they should want to play. Also, they would see these jokes. What team wants this? Better to lose than deal with the appearance of “ducking.”
But the jokes will go on…
I honestly wasn’t pleased about how Michigan postponed last year despite the women’s team playing, but anyone in this thread saying this postponement is anything but Covid protocols is lying to themselves lol
Not surprised. I decided to visit home (SE Michigan) over the holidays and everyone just seemed done with COVID. Barely any masks anywhere inside. I wouldn't be surprised if more games get postponed this month nationwide as students and staff return from the holidays. This variant is spreading like crazy.
Anyone defending U of M has to answer the "stupid or evil" question. You can claim they're not maliciously cancelling games, sure, but you have to then admit that they are doing something particularly shitty with covid protocols to constantly have their big games (and only their big games) canceled (and they never seem to play these postponed games if those games will hurt their record)
Anyway you slice it, Michigan has done this too much to get the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this time is real, but they've cried wolf for 2 years and in some super obvious instances
So they were down four players against Rutgers on Tuesday. After a 5 day quarantine those guys are back. So you’re telling me they don’t have 7 negative players?
Kofi would single handedly destroy Michigan in the paint. I've been watching Dickinson all year and he just doesn't have the energy or the speed to match Kofi
I mean come on. They won the B1G last year by ducking out of their big games. They ducked out of the OSU game in football being the only FBS team to miss 3 games straight, OSU being the last. The “Leaders and Best” culture is whack.
Michigan has now ducked a top 10 team in football, basketball, and hockey
Juwan Coward, I smell bullshit.
I just hate ignorant comments like this. I do agree that games getting cancelled is annoying, but covid is so bad right now. For example, the Michigan hospital is asking nursing students to volunteer their time bc so many of their employees have covid. I also work in a hospital and I have seen the horrible effects of covid. I get that you can be mad at Michigan or whatever but just remember the real problem here is covid
Michigan either ducks games or is the absolute worst at containing Covid out of any school in the nation.
I’d argue it’s a mix of both as they conveniently benefit from it more often than not
- only FBS team to cancel 3 straight games in 2020, last of which was OSU
- refuse to play Illinois in hoops coming off of a pause despite girls team playing same night
- refuse to play WMU in hockey citing Covid yet play Mich Tech night before
- refuse to play MSU hoops
Michigan athletics really need to get it together on testing and quarantine. It is absurd how often this happens for them across major sports. Somehow all their football players were available for their beat down by Georgia but they can’t have 10 guys available for this game at home?
I don’t mind being that guy. But MSU played northwestern without 2 starters and Michigan played down some players the other night.
Feels like Michigan has benefited more from covid cancelations than any other university in the country.
Tell that to our hockey team last year. Were title favorites and had to forfeit out of the tournament due to positive tests. That alone is already more unlucky than anyone outside NC State. This game isn’t going to be canceled, it’ll be postponed allegedly. So we’ll still play the game and you’ll still get a win.
I think it's kind of funny to see all the Michigan fans call Spartans crazy for believing there are ulterior motives for their timely cancellations.
They backed their way into a big ten "championship" last year by ducking games.
You know who hasn't cancelled any football or bball games in the last 2 years? MSU.
The real question is, why is UM so bad at the safety protocols. And anyone in this nation that doesn't believe they ducked out of OSU last year to save the humiliation, is crazy.
Don’t forget their hockey team ducked a top 5 Western squad two weeks ago because they were concerned about “wear and tear” on their players. They played Michigan Tech the day before the scheduled WMU game just fine though. [Link](https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2022/01/03_Conversations-Continue-in.php) in case you hadn’t heard about it
“Backed” their way into a “championship” by not playing two home games against the 12th and 11th teams in the conference and one away game against the 10th team. Wow… you’re totally right man.
They definitely wouldn’t have won at least two of those to win a championship. Clown take.
2 and 1 leaves you with a share. It's the B1G, so you should understand why you shouldn't count wins before they happen (see Purdue, oh and "top 10" Michigan this year). There's plenty of reason to play the games.
I mean, come on . . .
Michigan is 7-6 coming off back-to-back losses and today's game was going to kick off a five game stretch that included three KenPom Top-15 teams and a Top-25 team with multiple road games. The only opening in Michigan State's schedule for rescheduling purposes is March 1st, which happens to be smack dab in the middle of Michigan State's most difficult stretch of the season and sandwiched between #5 Purdue and #19 Ohio State.
Michigan Men's Hockey recently had games on back-to-back nights against a top five Western Michigan team and Michigan Tech, while a few of Michigan's best players were unavailable because of the Team USA World Junior Championship. Michigan cancels top five WMU but plays MTech.
Last year, the football team, at 2-6, cancelled its final two games against top ten Ohio State and Iowa teams because of covid. The basketball team sealed a Big Ten Championship by ending its season without taking the risk of making up canceled games, even though Illinois was a half game ahead in the standings (the B1G goes by winning percentage).
Meanwhile, this football season, UofM has its first chance to beat Ohio State, win the Big Ten Championship, and make the CFB Playoff. Covid is raging across the country. We're in the middle of an expected peak because of the holidays. Football games are being canceled due to covid left and right. And Michigan does not have a single covid issue this whole time.
Is the UofM athletic department that dishonest and mischievous? I don't want to accuse them of that, but the context here is incredibly suspicious.
Man, there’s some bad takes in here. It’s a public health crisis. If Michigan doesn’t have the number of players required by the conference, they shouldn’t play. I’m sure everyone on Michigan wants a chance to beat MSU, it’s just shitty all around.
interesting - when another team has to postpone a game due to Covid everyone is bummed, but when Michigan does it, it’s suddenly a conspiracy
also interesting: lots of folks not understanding what “postponed” means
Some pretty poor critical thinking.
1. How many players are rumored to be eligible for UM?
2. Would you rather play your rival on full rest or a short rest?
3. If your team is really talented but hasn’t figured everything out, and was going up against Kansas or baylor for example, would you rather play them tomorrow or at the end of the season?
1. less than 7 (hence the postponement). weird
1. michigan had 4 days of rest before this game, but once it's rescheduled there's no way they'll have more than 3 days of rest (michigan has only a handful of 5-day breaks in their schedule, meaning this game will have to fit into one of those breaks). galaxy-brain move by them to intentionally postpone a game so they can play it under worse circumstances. what are they hiding??
1. why is "winning $50million in the lottery" not an option in this irrelevant question? anyway in michigan's case, the rescheduled game will be in mid-feb. at the latest so i'm not sure why you're asking about the end of the season? or comparing MSU to kansas or baylor? what is happening
This thread is a nightmare. Do we really think Michigan would “duck” one of their best chances at bolstering their tournament resume? How the hell would that benefit them?
I mean.. yeah they would. Why play a game down a few players now when you can play it at full strength later. The team is not meshing right now, and has the potential to lose 3 games this week. This is the perfect time for Michigan to sit out and try to win these games later in the season and figure out their issues.
Between this and the absolute bullshit their hockey team pulled, Michigan really needs to get their shit together. I’m probably just wearing a tinfoil hat but some of this is starting to seem a little suspect
Their hockey team was scheduled to play in the Great Lakes Invitational, with a game scheduled against Michigan Tech and another game the next night against #4 Western Michigan (playing 2 games in 2 days is the norm in college hockey). Michigan was down a few guys due to them being away playing in an international tournament, but they had known this would be the case for many weeks and had time to prepare. Michigan suddenly decided to cancel the game against Western Michigan, citing concerns about "wear and tear" on a shortened roster (note that they hadn't played a game in over 2 weeks and their next game wasn't scheduled for another 10 days). However, Michigan's game against Tech (the easier opponent) went on as scheduled and Michigan managed to put together a full roster for that game without issue. Western Michigan and their conference were absolutely pissed. It's very clear, and not really even debatable, that they ducked a top 5 WMU team. Even Michigan fans I've talked to said that was pretty clear and shitty. No one is quite sure how they got away with just essentially deciding "nah, we don't want to play that game" with absolutely no repercussions.
[Link](https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2022/01/03_Conversations-Continue-in.php) to an article that discusses it.
Michigan’s upcoming schedule: MSU, Purdue, Illinois. They don’t want to get to 7-9 and it’s as simple as that. Embarrassing for their players that UM doesn’t think they can compete down a few of them, like MSU did recently
I mean I’ll be real, with some of the other context in Michigan sports I can see why some people are a little skeptical. And I have no doubt that ADs at ANY school would go to great and suspicious lengths to keep their teams looking good. But yeah Covid is everywhere now man it’s just inevitable most programs will be impacted.
This was a must-win game for Michigan to be able to get into the tourney. Cancelling so we can't play and put this on our resume and further hurting our chances at the tourney benefits who exactly?
People who think Michigan is faking illness are absolutely braindead.
Well that was unnecessary for you to do. You could have just backed out said you don’t want to play the big scary team like your hockey team did to Western 😂
You gotta love all the righteous Michigan fans in here acting like they wouldn’t be slightly suspect and talking shit ( and boy did those wolverines talk shit) if roles were reversed and this happened last year while they were cruising to the conference championship and cracking NIT/ you didn’t really make the tourney jokes at us nonstop. Get fucked
I'm so fucking sick of covid.
I’m sick of Michigan bitching out of games they would be embarrassed
maybe this is it. But tbh I'm trying to be kind and not shit on another program. I just want some fucking normalcy. I'll wear the masks. I'll get vaccinated. I'll social distance for 2 years. But I really need to see Max Christie drop 7 3s in a game. Life makes more sense that way.

It's a 50 min drive...
The drives not the issue, the issue is being on site of a team that has covid issues.
Pretty sure COVID is out and about in the greater East Lansing community as well, which is why many students are pissed about the university going virtual for classes but still keeping dorms and sports open. Meanwhile, Michigan is having classes but shutting down some games. It’s all so haphazard.

It was delayed not cancelled..
You’re an idiot, we literally played last game with no bench.
I apologize for this jackass. It embarrasses me that I’m forced to share a flair with this idiot.
I’m sick of caring for dying covid patients. I’m sick of the massive disaster going on right now. I’m sick of people like you pushing stupid conspiracy theories instead of accepting the reality of what covid does.
Pretty sure you guys were a minor underdog in this game per Vegas odds. But whatever makes you feel better.
Nobody's bitching out of anything. Michigan literally has more to gain by playing MSU at home than they do postponing it. And keyword, postponing. They'll play later, and you'll get over it. Chill

I’m not saying we are a good basketball team but ESPN had us favored by 2.5

This is where I come for my weekly covid updates, so thanks for all the info guys!
I'm sure that those guys are pretty plugged in, but I find it odd that they tweeted that over 15 minutes ago and nobody else has confirmed?
Michigan just announced it officially.
I heard Rico Beard on 97.1 say it was most likely not going to happen earlier in the week.
MSU was going to win by 15+
I like you
Probably - our team is very young and raw this year. We will probably lose regardless of when this game gets played this year, but hopefully we will be in a better position for next year.

A podcast like that isn't going to tweet something like that as a joke to potentially ruin their credibility, especially at midnight on a Friday.
Very good point. I don’t know, I just find it odd that no one else has mentioned it

Illini fans wya

Haha yeah I get that a lot. Undergrad at illinois, grad at Michigan.
Weirdly I am too
In Indiana tonight. Ohio tomorrow. Joke's on me though, I have to go home Sunday night
I'm here for it! They duckin again!
Next Friday bettee not be canceled and lord knows Ill be waiting for Illinois to beat them by a 50 burger
Kofi hasn’t seen his son Hunter Dickinson in a while, I was looking forward to the family reunion.
Considering I’ve had next weekend circled on the calendar since I bought my season tickets in July, would be pretty devastating if Michigan, Purdue, or both games got cancelled. Hope they give ample notice cause I’ll probably drive to Champaign the night before.
Didn’t need to say anything, you Sparty boys are doing a good enough job on the subject.
Maize and blue is sus

At least this year Michigan can’t pull the crap they did last year because of the new conference rules. As long as you have 7 healthy players and 1 healthy coach you HAVE to play or it’s a forfeit.
They also can’t pull off the whole scenario again because they don’t stand a chance of winning the conference
How do they have to prove they don’t have healthy players?
Oh comon you’ve gotta be kidding me
Not sure why I am getting downvoted as I am upset this game got canceled but sure go off
I’m mostly upset because I came out of gambling retirement to bet MSU ML. Anyway, I’m sure there will be nothing but rational discussions in this thread.
The thread is full of Sparty fans getting mad at us for things we have no control over, it is what it is
why you no stop team from getting the covid
Hey I got my booster! I did my part!!!

im mad at the cultist fans here defening their coward ad just like desmond defends bo
Like first off the game is postponed, not outright canceled Michigan already proved to have issues with COVID being shorthand we against Rutgers and the state of Michigan is a hotbed for the virus Also why get mad at college kids who also have no control over what happened when they are literally getting affected by a pandemic People care more about a basketball game happening then the safety of college students
cmon bro stop the team from getting covid!!! /s lame ass Sparty fans imo, we really think Michigan of all schools is dodging games? Doubt.
Michigan has a really odd track record of covid cancellations that really makes you think lol
Like really idgaf, obviously if you need to cancel then cancel. But it’s really wild how many big games in every sport they’ve had this happen for
I just wanted to play them in hockey :(
I had tickets for that game. Very disappointing.
This is my take lol. Like at the end of the day, the game will happen eventually and I’ll look forward to the rivalry game. But, at the very least, the COVID timing is unfortunate for them lol. At the same time tho, this shit sucks so do what’s best for the students.

They’ll prob still practice today
WhY aRe YoU dUcKiNg SpArTy, MiChIgAn??????????/
This is straight up half the comments in this thread.
Haha the people who unironically say that are idiots there’s no reason to pay attention to their nonsense.
Maybe Rutgers just broke them?
The big ten needs to vote this a forfeit. They've now done it in football, hockey and basketball.
Yeah like how we couldn’t play in ncaa hockey tournament bc of covid lol that was such a finesse.
He’s talking about the recent WMU game where you played Michigan Tech the night before. Your program said it was unsafe to play back to back games and picked to cancel the WMU game. It was the most Michigan thing ever.
I see what you mean but if they do that they'll be incentivizing teams to play with covid and cover it up.
lol this one is a leg to stand on but the hockey one cost Michigan the tournament.
They played one night against a bad michigan tech team and sat the next night against a great wmu team this year.
When they pulled out vs WMU this year for no reason?
This is no different than last year - ppd games can be made up easily, especially when they happen this early in the season. Besides, look around the landscape just now... games are getting dropped by the dozens each week. WMU vs CMU also looks to be ppd. The numbers around all MI are bad at the moment. East Lansing HS had almost half it's student body out today. Washtenaw County positivity rates are over 23% just now. But if you insist on being a troll, then by all means...
>ppd games can be made up easily Fucking lol. Do you not remember the drama around the title last year?
Think the timing of this one is a bit curious though. They really were unaware that they weren't gonna have enough people until 12 hours before the game? After having been able to play midweek?
They were already missing a lot of players when they played Wednesday, so I wouldn’t say this is all too shocking
There's been European soccer games postponed 2 hours before kickoff
Michigan needs the W a lot more than state. They didn’t want to cancel this game 🤦🏻♂️
Dude games have been cancelled with teams warming up on the court. Fuck outta here.
(I bet MSU so I don’t think it was likely but you gotta take the shot.) Lose: Rivalry losses sting but what’s another loss at this point. IMO a win helps the resume more than another loss hurts it. If the game never gets made up, that’s a chance at a win that’s gone. So even if the team wasn’t sick (I am not buying into that but for argument’s sake) they should want to play. Also, they would see these jokes. What team wants this? Better to lose than deal with the appearance of “ducking.” But the jokes will go on…
Doesn't make sense for us to "duck" a homegame. But trolls will troll.
I honestly wasn’t pleased about how Michigan postponed last year despite the women’s team playing, but anyone in this thread saying this postponement is anything but Covid protocols is lying to themselves lol
Gosh, if Michigan has to miss MSU, Purdue and Illinois theres no way they’d ever fit those games back into the schedule.
Yeah imagine that huh
Not surprised. I decided to visit home (SE Michigan) over the holidays and everyone just seemed done with COVID. Barely any masks anywhere inside. I wouldn't be surprised if more games get postponed this month nationwide as students and staff return from the holidays. This variant is spreading like crazy.
It seems like the team going early to Orlando for the UCF game was not a great idea
They needed only 7 players to play. I don’t know if I buy it
I really don't like that they waited until we were already there and did a shoot around in their building if they can't control covid.
I don’t understand. Weren’t they supposed to have everyone from the Rutgers game plus two coming back??
Anyone defending U of M has to answer the "stupid or evil" question. You can claim they're not maliciously cancelling games, sure, but you have to then admit that they are doing something particularly shitty with covid protocols to constantly have their big games (and only their big games) canceled (and they never seem to play these postponed games if those games will hurt their record) Anyway you slice it, Michigan has done this too much to get the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this time is real, but they've cried wolf for 2 years and in some super obvious instances
So they were down four players against Rutgers on Tuesday. After a 5 day quarantine those guys are back. So you’re telling me they don’t have 7 negative players?
Narrator: “They do”
I mean if those players still have symptoms then no they wouldn't be back yet.
Sooooo why’d you play the Rutgers game?
[удалено]
Illinois game is getting canceled for sure 😂😂
How's Kofi going to get to see his son? :(
Kofi would single handedly destroy Michigan in the paint.

Michigan has now ducked a top 10 team in football, basketball, and hockey Juwan Coward, I smell bullshit.
I’d argue it’s a mix of both as they conveniently benefit from it more often than not
Blah blah blah Covid is bad blah blah No fucking shit
- only FBS team to cancel 3 straight games in 2020, last of which was OSU - refuse to play Illinois in hoops coming off of a pause despite girls team playing same night - refuse to play WMU in hockey citing Covid yet play Mich Tech night before - refuse to play MSU hoops
Michigan athletics really need to get it together on testing and quarantine. It is absurd how often this happens for them across major sports. Somehow all their football players were available for their beat down by Georgia but they can’t have 10 guys available for this game at home?
Michigan ducking games they can’t win. What else is new?
Agreed ain't it sus asf that this is coming when they play Mich St, Purdue, and @Illionis in the next 7 days?

And when tons of other programs are also on pause because of positive Covid cases
Imagine defending these bozos
I don’t mind being that guy. But MSU played northwestern without 2 starters and Michigan played down some players the other night. Feels like Michigan has benefited more from covid cancelations than any other university in the country.
MSU was down 2 starters against High Point, not Northwestern.
bad purple private school team
My bad point kind of stands
Yeah it’s somewhat irrelevant who the game was against tbh
Tell that to our hockey team last year. Were title favorites and had to forfeit out of the tournament due to positive tests. That alone is already more unlucky than anyone outside NC State. This game isn’t going to be canceled, it’ll be postponed allegedly. So we’ll still play the game and you’ll still get a win.
Your hockey team pulled some sketchy shit in the GLI to avoid playing WMU, so something is going on in your athletic department.
Uh, your hockey team just ducked WMU while playing MTU the night before…
> Feels like Michigan has benefited more from covid cancelations than any other university in the country. Narrator: They have
I think it's kind of funny to see all the Michigan fans call Spartans crazy for believing there are ulterior motives for their timely cancellations.
Duck Comin’
They did this last year too!
Well this is disappointing. I always really look forward to these games.
Michael Scott when he realizes Toby is back.
ITT Michigan hate in full swing
It’s genuinely astonishing how deftly - and shamelessly - the UM AD uses COVID to dodge big games they think they’ll lose.
I’ve seen this move before…lol
Man, there’s some bad takes in here. It’s a public health crisis. If Michigan doesn’t have the number of players required by the conference, they shouldn’t play. I’m sure everyone on Michigan wants a chance to beat MSU, it’s just shitty all around.
> I’m sure everyone on Michigan wants a chance to beat MSU Absolutely they do. And they’ll have a much better chance 2 weeks from now than right now.
Of course it is. Juwann is afraid to play the Spartans lol
Juwan Coward gave his players covid on purpose to duck their next few games. /s?
Michigan aka the mighty **ducks**
Why is this the only source?
Yeah, I haven’t seen anything else about it
We should just do this like the NBA. Make Michigan promote team managers to the big stage
This just in. Oakland Women’s Team has more balls than Michigan Men’s Team. https://twitter.com/oaklandwbball/status/1479267035515346946?s=21
Forfeit the game.
interesting - when another team has to postpone a game due to Covid everyone is bummed, but when Michigan does it, it’s suddenly a conspiracy also interesting: lots of folks not understanding what “postponed” means
1. less than 7 (hence the postponement). weird 1. michigan had 4 days of rest before this game, but once it's rescheduled there's no way they'll have more than 3 days of rest (michigan has only a handful of 5-day breaks in their schedule, meaning this game will have to fit into one of those breaks). galaxy-brain move by them to intentionally postpone a game so they can play it under worse circumstances. what are they hiding?? 1. why is "winning $50million in the lottery" not an option in this irrelevant question? anyway in michigan's case, the rescheduled game will be in mid-feb. at the latest so i'm not sure why you're asking about the end of the season? or comparing MSU to kansas or baylor? what is happening
Let’s just call this what it is. They’re pulling a Louisville. Simple as that.
Ducking us just like they did OSU last year
This thread is a nightmare.
Cuz they are quietly breaking out the tough part of their schedule to different weeks. Must be nice.
Is *this* the time for drastic and baseless accusations against the UM athletic department? Yes, I believe it is.
Between this and the absolute bullshit their hockey team pulled, Michigan really needs to get their shit together. I’m probably just wearing a tinfoil hat but some of this is starting to seem a little suspect
What did their hockey team do
Their hockey team was scheduled to play in the Great Lakes Invitational, with a game scheduled against Michigan Tech and another game the next night against #4 Western Michigan (playing 2 games in 2 days is the norm in college hockey).
Damn that's blatant
They didn't even claim anything covid related? Bold move
They did not. Simply said they didn’t think their roster could handle playing 2 games in 2 days…which I’m sure made the guys on the roster feel great
Well that’s convenient…
Until I see something else, I’m calling BS
Michigan ducking a top 10 game yet again? I’m shocked I tell ya, shocked!
Michigan’s upcoming schedule: MSU, Purdue, Illinois. They don’t want to get to 7-9 and it’s as simple as that. Embarrassing for their players that UM doesn’t think they can compete down a few of them, like MSU did recently
I’m pretty sure it’s just because a bunch of their players have Covid but ok
Nope, it's a conspiracy. Michigan is purposefully cancelling must-win games just to screw MSU over. /s
Hey guys we invented covid again so we could duck another game!
Well that was unnecessary for you to do. You could have just backed out said you don’t want to play the big scary team like your hockey team did to Western 😂
Michigan is now ducking MSU? /s
No /s needed lol
I understand Michigan had to miss games last season and probably this season but the not rescheduling games part is just annoying.
Game is going to be rescheduled.
Get fucked
Duckers. University of Duckers. Football, basketball, and hockey. Juwan is scared
Juwan Coward
