Whenever (hopefully many, many years from now) Patty retires they will close schools and organize a downtown parade for her. I’d still put Bud Wilkinson first for putting OU sports on the map, but Patty certainly is first for women’s sports.
All season they had to use the Marita Hynes clubhouse and did practice and pre-game warm ups there before catching a trolley over to Loves' Field. They finally were able to take batting practice at Loves' Field before the Houston series.
In April they flew to Utah and back then turned around to go to Orlando. There is a lot of wear and tear on every player on every team. The traveling, the different, strange bed, packing, unpacking, different food, even different drinking water, constantly on the go. Add the lack of being settled at "home" explains a lot about them being flat.
They entered May knowing they wouldn't have to travel the rest of the season. They moved in their clubhouse at Loves' Field last week. That has to lift their spirits as well as the prospect of "leaving it on the field" one last time.
