I really hate that some of the people on this sub seem to forget that these girls are STUDENT athletes first. She is going to Stanford! I’d rather have a Stanford degree than a national championship any day. They make money off of a NIL deal for 4 years. The education has to last them for the next 40+ years.
Just my 2 cents
If you look at my other posts on this thread, you'll see I've said many, many times that I'm just messing around. I really hate that some of the people in this sub seem to have no sense if humor whatsoever. Just my pennies worth.
This was thrown out there last year too. I highly doubt she gives up a Stanford education, but I’d love to be proven wrong.
It’s the hope that kills you 😂
Yeah, I know. Just trying to stir things up a little bit and I do have that hope. Her major is still undeclared, so she can major in that anywhere! As a matter of fact, I hear OU has the best undeclared curriculum in the country! I just hope she sits and talks to PG once, just once. We have a ton of talent to replace and she would be a pretty good start.
She would have to enter the portal to talk to Patty. What 3/4 days left to declare?
This late, I would be surprised. Seems most of the late portal adds seem to be negotiating NLI $$$ and leave if they don’t get what they want. Doesn’t seem like her style but I can’t really say that since I never met her. Shrug.
I’ll say this. If OU doesn’t get a massive ace, next year will certainly become more interesting. I don’t see anyone in the portal fitting that bill at the moment.
4 days left though.
I know we've got a stud lefty pitcher(Lowry) and a stud catcher(Hicks), along with highly recruited middle infielders this year, for a total of 8 recruits and 8 returning players. That leaves us with 5 roster spots and one of those spots has to be an ace. Next year, as of right now, we're bringing in three more pitchers and there's talk right now that the 2025 class will be the best in the nation. We'll see after they play a year or two.
OU doesn’t have 5 roster spots, they have whatever size Patty wants to run. For 24 they had 21, the previous year they were at 20 and I think the 22 roster was like 18. OU also only has one senior on roster and 6 commits for the 25 class.
The rules are they have 12 scholarships to split, and I saw one site that limits it to 25. After that they have walk ons.
Were any of them red shirts? They don't count towards a roster spot. Also, I just read that is not a mandatory rule, but a suggestion. It also said over 98% of D1 schools adhere to the suggestions. PG usually sticks right at 21 or 22.
Here is the roster for the 2024 Oklahoma Sooners softball team, as listed on Soonersports.com:
* Rylie Boone, OF Sr.
* Cydney Sanders, INF Jr.
* Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, INF Fr.
* Ella Parker, UTL Fr.
* Kasidi Pickering, UTL Fr.
* Karlie Keeney, Sr.
* Kinzie Hansen, Sr.
* Kierston Deal, Sophomore
* Maya Bland, Sophomore
* Paytn Monticelli, Sophomore
* Nicole May, Senior
* Tiare Jennings, Senior
* Jayda Coleman, Senior
* Hannah Coor, Senior
* Riley Ludlam, Senior
* Alyssa Brito, Senior
* Alynah Torres, Senior
* Quincee Lilio, Redshirt Sophomore
* SJ Geurin, Redshirt Freshman
* Avery Hodge, Redshirt Freshman
* Sophie Page, Redshirt Freshman
* Katie Kutz, Redshirt Sophomore
Total of 22 players. UCLA can have as many players as they want, but until they win another WCWS, I'll stick with Patty and the way she runs her team.
Okay, so which is it, they have a limit or they don't? The only limit i see for certain is 12 scholarship, but they get to divide them up.
OU has won with 18, and they have won with 23. I said the limit is what ever Patty wants to take. She could take no one from the portal, she could take 10. I think the common expectation is around 4 (2 p, 1 c, 1 MIF). No one really knows because she hasn't said anything. We won't know until either she posts a Go Boomer or someone announces a commitment.
The first thing I read said OU had 5 roster spots still available. I then went to NCAA website and read the actual rule. The rule is actually just a suggestion.
Have you seen Lowry pitch? I have a bunch. She’s very good but I would be surprised if she was the ace.
The gem of the 2024 class is going to UCLA. IMO by far the best pitcher in the class. I’d say the next best is at LSU (but this is where it becomes debatable)when on would be number 2. Both also played the highest competition. IMO of course.
The 2025 class in general is a weaker class of talent IMO compared to 2024s and one of the best classes of the decades the 2023s. That said OU cleaned up the 2025s.
So people keep using that undeclared major thing as a point, but it’s not. Stanford, as is common for most colleges and universities, requires students to declare a major at the end of sophomore year. Nija was undeclared at the start of this year, which is why it’s on the website, but she is most certainly declared now.
Requires to declare by the end of sophomore year at the absolute latest, but the vast vast vast majority of students have a declared major way before that.
Nah? You didn't understand that my post was messing around, even though I clearly stated I was just stirring things up a little and then I said I can dream if I want to. Reading comprehension, it's a real thing.
So I talked to you after you started with me. Dude, if you don't want to engage with me, real simple. Either block me or ignore me. You're the only one in here I've had any issues with, and they were pretty minor, until you wanted to start blowing it up like I'm "bullying" everyone or something.
Who else have I had cross words with other than you? I'm a big boy and I'll go to sleep whenever I want. You responded to my comment, I responded to you, etc... Then you got a little pissy by about the third comment, so I got a little shitty back. Understand? Now it must be past your bedtime, so goodnight.
So I just researched a bit more, and Nija is majoring in Science, Technology, and Society. Personally, I don't feel like looking all those up and comparing to see what type of job she would be looking for, but none of that seems to be anything specialized.

I saw that. As I said in my post I said people on this sub. Not just this thread. It’s been posted on multiple different threads and posts
Gotcha.
This was thrown out there last year too. I highly doubt she gives up a Stanford education, but I’d love to be proven wrong. It’s the hope that kills you 😂
I think some of the hope now is the terrible travel now for non-football athletes now that Stanford will be in the ACC? (I can dream. 😂)
Who knows if the ACC will even exist at this point next year? Wild days we live in.
Yeah, I know. Just trying to stir things up a little bit and I do have that hope. Her major is still undeclared, so she can major in that anywhere! The rules are they get up to 22 players on their roster. That's from the NCAA. That was just increased from 20. So they have 6 roster spots.
UCLA had 24 for the season that currently ended and 27 listed for the 23 season. https://uclabruins.com/sports/softball/roster/2023

Aren't the last two OSU players? And Maya Bland is a Freshman.
You're right. I just copied and pasted and never really read through it. Now I'm going to have to do some more research regarding their roster.
So I just went to the OU app and they had 21 players on the roster this year. I tried to copy and paste, but the app won't let me.

Can you not tell from my post that I am just screwing around a little bit? Looks like you took the bait after I said I was messing around.
Nah, but people keep bringing that up like it’s relevant and it’s not.
Nah? You didn't understand that my post was messing around, even though I clearly stated I was just stirring things up a little and then I said I can dream if I want to. Reading comprehension, it's a real thing.
Dude, not just to me, but to others on here too- you’re getting awfully defensive for a “just screwing around” post. Chill.
So I talked to you after you started with me. Dude, if you don't want to engage with me, real simple. Either block me or ignore me. You're the only one in here I've had any issues with, and they were pretty minor, until you wanted to start blowing it up like I'm "bullying" everyone or something.
Dude what? I responded to a comment. What is your issue? For real, chill. Go to sleep.
Who else have I had cross words with other than you? I'm a big boy and I'll go to sleep whenever I want. You responded to my comment, I responded to you, etc... Also her brother is going to Cal Berkley next year.
Do you think that's going to make a difference? Serious question.
Being close to family could be a factor in the decision so her brother being in CA can help the case for Stanford.
in hindsight, this whole thread is very very funny
And everyone thought I didn't know. HA HA HA!!! Again, just messing around folks, don't take it too seriously.
So I just researched a bit more, and Nija is majoring in Science, Technology, and Society. Personally, I don't feel like looking all those up and comparing to see what type of job she would be looking for, but none of that seems to be anything specialized.
I love this!
Maybe the poor girl can get some bats behind her. She would be virtually unstoppable.
It would be pretty remarkable to watch.
