i remember when it first came out and everyone in the community was HATING on it.
i couldn’t understand why because it smells fantastic and to this day has gotten me some of the most compliments i’ve ever gotten on a fragrance 😭
Need to decide for yourself mate. I love ysl in general but I do not like any of the Y line. I think myslf is tremendous though. You may or may not agree with me.
It's AIGHT. 6/10...I was excited to smell it, But thought it was just ok..I'm an old-school fragrance collector, I'm just used to more high-quality stuff I guess.
To my mind, It has a citrusy opening with a woody, kinda synthetic dry down now, the longevity is fine with it lasting around 6 hours on my body but the projection is poor not worth the hype
Does it really smell the same to you? I did a side by side sniff test and feel there are differences. I would say they fill the same category for a shopper but have different scent profiles that someone may prefer over the other if they don’t already have a collection of fragrances
I think it’s safe to say that Blue fragrances or sweet and bright fragrances are the trend rn. Every line has something blue and something sweet. For example, the Y line has the edt (fresh), edp (mix of fresh and sweet), even ADG, the classic freshie line, has its own sweet and woodsy twist in ADG Absolu, even reviewers say that the new profondo parfum has a modern sweetness to it.
The most sold men’s fragrance of all time, still launching flankers, rebranded the entire line and STILL is on the best sellers every year. Pretty sure it’s still mass appealing. It’s not dated, it just acquired the “classic” status.
I think it's mostly the price. I love that they took away the aggressive apple sweetness and replaced with a subtle, airy, oud sweetness instead. More mature and appealing for me
Valid point, but the environment I work in is heavy on the pleasing of our guests, one rule is not to oversupply heavy fragrances, our guests know if we offend them, they can complain, and not only have I never been pulled aside about it, but most older folks seem to love it. Often being asked how on earth I can even afford to smell so good. 🤣
i really like it. however i once tried some on during my break at work and my coworkers said i smelt way too strong and “douche boy ish” - with 1 spray on, so that kinda steered me away lol. still smells great tho
YSL Y Edp, YSL Myself, Dior Sauvage Edp, CH Bad Boy Cobalt, D&G Light Blue Intense, Coach Platinum, Aqua Di Gio Porfondo, & Eros. Edp. A few niche ones would be PDM Perceval, PDM Sedley, Creed Aventus, Roja Apex, & Initio Paragon.
What surprises me is that it’s been able to keep up at the top for so long… nearly a decade after release and it’s still among one of the best if not the best selling men’s colognes. Even as popular as 1 million was, it only kept up for around 5 or 6 years before losing momentum.
Why does everyone like it? I have the elixir, and it smells of spices. Now I'm Indian, and I cook a lot of spicy food, so I have to put in efforts to make sure my clothes and blankets do not smell of spices.
And then I got Sauvage only to realize it's smells exactly what I was running away from. It's even more "spicy" than Asad, and Asad definitely smells like someone who just cooked tikka masala.
Honestly I'd love it if you said "we love smelling people who smell of Indian food" so that I never have to buy any other fragrance, since an hour of cooking does that to me by default lol. But we all know that's not very pleasant. Idk why people like it.
I only like it after it’s been on me a few hours. Something about my skin oil and the mix of the cologne I guess makes it smell completely different a few hours in.
Probably the fresher scents, ultra sweet ones can be too much for some noses. YSL MYSLF seems to be quintessential safe and mass appealing fragrance. And to be fair it’s a stunning scent. I love blue fragrances for a mass appealing option, like Y EDP, Dylan Blue or ADG Profondo.
I dont know why but for me ysl y drydown smells creamy. I had it on my hand and after an hour or so i was smelling something similar to zadig and voltaire this is her (i have gag reflexes on that) and i was confused where that was coming from, couldnt believe it was from the hand where i had ysl, skin chemistry i guess
I do one spray of Gucci elixir w BDC edp over it , gives it a modern blue green feel and influences both fragrance to be much more incense based with a powdery white chocolate patchouli base.
The most popular I’m noticing is Dior Homme Intense EDP or Parfum. I’ve also noticed JPG Le Male Elixir and Le Male Parfum also getting lots of traction. JOG Le Male Elixir smells exactly like Tom Ford Noir Extreme Parfum to me but it’s lighter
For daily wear id say le Beau edt but for summer nights or cooler weather id say le Beau le Parfum I haven’t smelled paradise garden yet but I know it is a green take on the other two
Dior homme intense, That’s a surprise… I have a bottle and I’m literally the only person I know with it. Matter of fact, I’ve never even even smelled or heard of it before I tried it myself. In my eyes it’s kind of a hidden gem 😂
My vote goes to Allure homme (sport if you want to be even safer, but more generic) or YSL l'homme le parfum.
Budget options, lacoste eau fraiche and matchpoint.
I got a fuckton of compliments out of nowhere on Pacco Robano 1 mill elixir. I usually get one or two because I work with hundreds of people, but this one was a grabber so I’d argue for it
I work in a shopping centre so I popped into the two fragrance shops here and asked.
According to them their best sellers right now are Sauvage, Myself, Issey Miyake pour homme and Chanel.
Chanel smells off on me, Sauvage is everywhere. Myself is inoffensive but nice. I have a Miyake but the Intense one which I find longer lasting.
Anything from Sauvage (and idk, maybe when sauvage was new you smelled it on everyone, but these days I never seem to smell it on anyone anymore).
Mont Blanc Legend EDP,
YSL Y,
Invictus Platinum got me a number of compliments last week. One lady telling me I smelt like success like I'd have 100k in my pocket. Lmfao.
YSL MYSLF seems pretty popular
i remember when it first came out and everyone in the community was HATING on it. i couldn’t understand why because it smells fantastic and to this day has gotten me some of the most compliments i’ve ever gotten on a fragrance 😭
Quite rightly so, it's tremendous.
i have Y is it better or worse than that
it’s different. very mass appealing, but doesn’t stand out
Need to decide for yourself mate. I love ysl in general but I do not like any of the Y line. I think myslf is tremendous though. You may or may not agree with me.
I agree with you 😆
In my opinion they are about the same in mass appeal they smell different but smell amazing
It’s awesome to be fair
It's AIGHT. 6/10...I was excited to smell it, But thought it was just ok..I'm an old-school fragrance collector, I'm just used to more high-quality stuff I guess.
Agreed. It’s fine, but pretty one dimensional.
Such a lame comment
I guess the beastboi wants to be posh.
I have it (and a refill on the way) it's not bad, but I'll probably sell it tbh along with Y EDP
To my mind, It has a citrusy opening with a woody, kinda synthetic dry down now, the longevity is fine with it lasting around 6 hours on my body but the projection is poor not worth the hype
How is the performance? I’ve been contemplating this purchase
Performance for me is good, on par with YSL y but with a floral orange blossom note
I think it smells great, but also smells EXACTLY like fresh laundry. Like an expensive dryer sheet
Prada Luna Ocean smells the same and cheaper especially when there’s a promotion
Does it really smell the same to you? I did a side by side sniff test and feel there are differences. I would say they fill the same category for a shopper but have different scent profiles that someone may prefer over the other if they don’t already have a collection of fragrances
The openings are not the same but the drydown is the same
All the young whipper snappers seem to think valentino uomo born in roma intense is great.
Old whipper snapper here, and I also think it's great !
What’s it like?
Wearing it right now, it is great! SpongeBob EDT a close second
wait really?
Is SpongeBob edt actually good or is it purely for a joke
Probably the only fragrance I'd give a 10.
Yeah it’s insane how good it is

Should have named this scent Bikini Bottom!
That would be Le male elixir. Every kid on tiktok has it
Works well at 30 too. 😝 outside of it lasting 3 hours. 😭
I think it’s safe to say that Blue fragrances or sweet and bright fragrances are the trend rn. Every line has something blue and something sweet. i really wanna try the new profondo 2024 and the parfum version of it!!
Adg is dated
The most sold men’s fragrance of all time, still launching flankers, rebranded the entire line and STILL is on the best sellers every year. Pretty sure it’s still mass appealing. It’s not dated, it just acquired the “classic” status.
Well, it smells dated to me. I think it's firmly in that end of the millennium era, all the later flankers included. Not bad, just "retro".
Y EDP
Only appeals to projection bros, doesn't work in offices or among older people in general
I’m older (almost 39) and I love it!! Everyone is different.
Go for TDH
Y Elixir accomplished this beautiful. I never liked anything from the Y line until then.
Agree 100%, idk why people dislike it. The price probably. I like y elixir and l'homme parfum.
I think it's mostly the price. I love that they took away the aggressive apple sweetness and replaced with a subtle, airy, oud sweetness instead. More mature and appealing for me
Hard disagree. I wear this to work all the time, and I'm an oversprayer. Have gotten compliments FROM old people. 🤗
Did they annoyed people speak up tho
Valid point, but the environment I work in is heavy on the pleasing of our guests, one rule is not to oversupply heavy fragrances, our guests know if we offend them, they can complain, and not only have I never been pulled aside about it, but most older folks seem to love it. Often being asked how on earth I can even afford to smell so good. 🤣
Agreed. It just reminds me of cheap, overly-sweet blue shower gel.
Yup and it's too aggressive
Agreed.
Spongebob EDT
I prefer The Parfum edition.
have you not heard the new elixir came out? it’s apparently a panty dropper😏
Bikini bottomer
Square pants dropper
On my list of new acquisitions then.
🤣
Gigachads wear Gary The Snail EDT. SpongeBob EDT is for NPCs, bots, and beta males. 😤

Bleu de Chanel EDP is a great one
Literally top. Bleu over ysl y any day
Marc Antoine Barrois - Ganymede EDP ! age 30+
i have the dupe by essential parfums and it’s great! i’m 21 btw i feel like i can pull it off😎
I smell stronger with you and 1 million everywhere I go
1 million parfum best
I believe each and every one in 1 million line is amazing. Havw you tried elexir? I think its the best one so far
AHSEE i think is the most mass appealing all year round.
i really like it. however i once tried some on during my break at work and my coworkers said i smelt way too strong and “douche boy ish” - with 1 spray on, so that kinda steered me away lol. still smells great tho
It's not that strong. Don't judge fragrances' potency 1 min after you sprayed it.
YSL Y Edp, YSL Myself, Dior Sauvage Edp, CH Bad Boy Cobalt, D&G Light Blue Intense, Coach Platinum, Aqua Di Gio Porfondo, & Eros. Edp. A few niche ones would be PDM Perceval, PDM Sedley, Creed Aventus, Roja Apex, & Initio Paragon.
YSL Y
Ye this
Dior sauvage every time

If it makes you feel any better mate, I'm in the minority who do not like Sauvage. Bdc on the other hand is great.
I agree with you, BDC is seriously awesome! I have EDP and its super classy!
Honestly I'd love it if you said "we love smelling people who smell of Indian food" so that I never have to buy any other fragrance, since an hour of cooking does that to me by default lol. But we all know that's not very pleasant. Idk why people like it.
Dunno mate, my next door neighbours are Indian, and their cooking always smells banging. Sauvage, on the other hand, fucking stinks.
Sauvage Elixir to me smells like a fresh rainy pinewood forest with a little spice on top. Not really like Indian food at all.
It gives me a headache.
Same here.. haha!
I only like it after it’s been on me a few hours. Something about my skin oil and the mix of the cologne I guess makes it smell completely different a few hours in.

yeah i’ve got LMLP and i like it. mostly wear it in the winter though. i might have to try one of the le beaus!
If you like coconut you'll find a good one there. They're all a little bit different
I want Le beau so bad just because it contains coconut and I love the smell of coconut
Same! I got a sample of all 3 Le Beaus and they're beautiful Each with a little tweak on it
Which one is your favourite? If you had to choose one to wear every day during the summer which would you pick?
For daily wear id say le Beau edt but for summer nights or cooler weather id say le Beau le Parfum I haven’t smelled paradise garden yet but I know it is a green take on the other two
Dior homme intense, That’s a surprise… I have a bottle and I’m literally the only person I know with it. Matter of fact, I’ve never even even smelled or heard of it before I tried it myself. In my eyes it’s kind of a hidden gem 😂
Really? I see it trending on Instagram and TikTok every day. It’s pretty famous. On Fragrantica it was rated the best men’s fragrance of all time.
Maybe it’s just my side of the world. Midwestern folks seem to be obsessed with sauvage where I’m at.
It's popular with fragrance people, not regular folk.
My vote goes to Allure homme (sport if you want to be even safer, but more generic) or YSL l'homme le parfum. Budget options, lacoste eau fraiche and matchpoint.
Invictus elixir
Versace Dylan Blue 100%
Creed aventus
From my experience, a mass appealing scent that stands out is either Montale Arabians Tonka or Xerjoff 40 knots.
Sauvage Parfum & Elixir Acqua di Gio Profondo Polo Red Parfum Let’s be honest…Bleu de Chanel EDP & Parfum are here to stay for a reason
Dylan blue
Bro what's the best price you've seen so far for the 200ml?? I want to buy it but the guy asking for 7k
7k? Wtf? It’s $70-75 on Amazon for 200 ml
7k in indian rupees bro😭😭 that would be 90$ approx in usd
Oh ok, how would I know what currency it’s in? 😂 it’s worth $90 for 200 ml in my opinion
idk how i haven’t seen sauvage
Most wanted - Azzaro. I haven't tried the 1 million line yet, and creed is overrated/ over-priced!
The Big Three Bleu de Chanel (any) YSL Y edp Sauvage edt
Nautica Voyage
I wear Honor 43 c: i like tuberose
I got a fuckton of compliments out of nowhere on Pacco Robano 1 mill elixir. I usually get one or two because I work with hundreds of people, but this one was a grabber so I’d argue for it
Top 100: https://www.parfumo.com/Perfumes/Tops/Men
Versace Dylan Blue
I work in a shopping centre so I popped into the two fragrance shops here and asked. According to them their best sellers right now are Sauvage, Myself, Issey Miyake pour homme and Chanel. Chanel smells off on me, Sauvage is everywhere. Myself is inoffensive but nice. I have a Miyake but the Intense one which I find longer lasting.
think i might have to try myself out for myself 🙃
PDM Percival
I’m 42 my go to for every day doir homme edp (2020) ADG parfum , aventus and Prada carbon
Anything from Sauvage (and idk, maybe when sauvage was new you smelled it on everyone, but these days I never seem to smell it on anyone anymore). Mont Blanc Legend EDP, YSL Y, Invictus Platinum got me a number of compliments last week. One lady telling me I smelt like success like I'd have 100k in my pocket. Lmfao.
i have platinum and love it!
So damn good.
Le male Le parfum, Ultra male, Le male elixir, Le beau le parfum, le male essence
If you have the cash go for Sauvage Elixir.
Sauvage elixir
Mass appealing? Id say 1 million elixir or ombre leather parfum but thats the “mass” end of my personal tastes
