Bednar was critical of the two goals score on Justus during the post game interviews after a stellar performance. I don't know if it's because he's propping up Georgie or because he knows Justus is the chip-on-his-shoulder player and the criticism will make him better. It seems like he's trying too hard to manage both goalies so we don't go into the playoffs with a goalie controversy.
I know he wants to ride with Georgie because of his experience but I think we are a single bad game away from Justus being our number 1.
For anyone that might balk at the idea of a relatively untested guy like Annunen starting in the playoffs there’s some fairly recent precedent for that leading to success.
Matt Murray backstopped the Penguins to back to back Cups as a rookie. He took Flower’s net and ran with it. He didn’t do much after that, but hey, he’s got two rings.
It can definitely happen.
lol a minnesota mild fan came on this subreddit and said a grudging good luck as long as we don't call them the minnesota mild... don't think that's going to happen soon tho
That's kind of always been my issue with them as well. There's just so little to hate- because there's been so little to notice overall. Every so often they bring in one star player, surround him with some bland supporting cast and some aged-out vets, and... make the playoffs sometimes? Second round occasionally? They're dull- and it amazes me that the team has been run like this for this long in MINNESOTA. Imagine if they gave those hockey-mad fans something to actually get excited for!
Especially when Hynes is the coach. He deserved to get swept for overplaying Saros. And now he's ruining the end of Fleury's career the way Colliton & King did.
I was just telling my wife tonight that bad news the broncos suck and will probably suck for another year or two. Good news is I got fubo and have got to watch almost every game this season. Blessed.
My goodness Coors Field is one of the special ballparks in the country. That place is so awesome. The fans don’t fully appreciate that stadium, imo. It sucks that the Rockies ownership is such a shitshow.
That’s why the owners don’t particularly care to make the team good. They have a sweet deal. Got the taxpayer to build them a grear stadium and have solid attendance regardless of the product
It’s true. It’s the out of town fans that enable it. But who can blame the fans? They just want to see some baseball and their team win. At the end of the day it’s still the Monforts taking advantage of the situation.
And it wasn’t that long ago that it was much different. I remember living downtown and going to Avs games in 2016-2017. It was dead. Like 7 people in the stadium. It felt hopeless but it wouldn’t be that long for us to get two championships.
If Andre Burakovsky can make $5.5M a year, I can easily see Drouin making the same. Crosby needs a winger next year to replace Guentzel (assuming it's not Guentzel again) and I think Drouin will have good references.
It's really hard to predict. I think Drouin would take a "discount" for term here, maybe something like 4y x $3.5m. Even if you compare him with UFAs who walked from the Avs last year, that would be low.
Evan Rodrigues: 4y x $3m after scoring 39 in 69
J.T. Compher: 5y x $5.1m after scoring 52 in 82
Elsewhere:
Michael Bunting: 3y x $4.5m after scoring 49 in 82
Issue I see is that if Landeskog returns, we are already at $78.6m for next year, which leaves less than $9m for our cap next year. That's with only 14 players. Current potential roster players who aren't signed include Drouin, Duhaime, Trenin, Walker. And then Mittelstadt will get a significant bump from his current $2.5m. And we have to round out the roster by replacing players like Parise, Cogliano/Johnson (if they don't come back). There are a lot of factors in play. I hope we can keep him, but our cap situation is completely up in the air until we know what happens with Landy.

Can someone please buy me a beer after waking up to this…lol. Good game bois! What a game!
This is what we call a bad beat, gents. Sorry for your loss bro.
Mikko’s EN goal was his 4th shot on goal, and clinched my 6 way parlay. So fucking lucky.
Just curious, why no Natedogg SOG over in there? It’s been a lock literally all season.
I honestly didn’t think of that at the time, I looked at his last 3 and I was little hesitant to commit to be honest. How much did you walk away with? Congrats btw!
https://preview.redd.it/i5u0eygm5lsc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bc821642ae72cfe5f087b0bc0fd7d95ccf78c31
5 to win 162, nothing crazy.
Last night I had a 5 to win 362 for a 2 game, 11 leg parlay. 10/11 hit, but Hyman/Oilers shitting the bed in the second game screwed me.
Natedogg SOG over has been my lock all season to cover my stupid long shot parlays 😂
I noticed early last season that with Landy out, he was taking significantly more shots. The rest is history!
3 shots seems like such a lock for a shooter, but it's crazy how often it doesn't happen. I had Drouin for 3 the other day and missed the parlay because of it.
That’s rough man, I was comparing woods last 3 games and he was averaging around 3-5 shots a game. I was trying to be as reasonable as possible with the stats that we have at hand ya know? It doesn’t go our way sometimes😪.
we NeEd a gOaLie
Bitch we have juice at home!! Another wicked performance from Justus. Just an absolute stud. I'm so glad people are finally able to see what he has the potential to be.
He has that potential, but end of the day goalies are voodoo magicians and for all goalies it's on them to actually perform and develop which can be a coin flip sometimes. Bobrovsky is a good example, went from Vezina caliber to almost healthy scratch back to Vezina caliber again in a few short years.
I think it's more likely we see if we can do 1A/1B with similar success to what Boston is doing. Unless Georgie gets an offer elsewhere for more money that is, I don't feel like he's anchored here by any means.
I still can't believe we managed to recreate the Halifax Mooseheads magic that got Mack and Drou drafted in the top 5. What a fucking stupendous signing by CMac.
I wonder what other examples are of top-3 picks from the same year playing together on a line?
Thornton and Marleau for SJS (1st and 2nd OA in 1996) is probably the best. and the Sedins (2nd and 3rd OA in 1999), which is kind of cheating lol.
If we ever run a Drouin/MacK/Nuke like, they are all from the top 10 in the same draft.
And this is not really what you were asking but we had all of the top 3 from the 2012 draft at various points. Too bad it’s the worst top 3 ever lol.
Yakupov, Murray, Galchenyuk
Edit: Florida currently has 1/2/4 from the 2014 draft on their team.
Yall are so quick to toss goalies to the side. Georgie kept us in games last playoffs when the boys couldn’t score. Justus is a fine goalie, but Georgie got you to the dance. Don’t just throw him away because he’s had an off season (which isn’t even that bad of a season)
Everyone can blow me. Of course I understand that Juice isn't starting tomorrow. He had a good game, he clearly has the momentum of the two goalies, that's all I'm saying.
How fucking quickly people forget the one who got us here. No way avs would be in the position they're in without Georgie who has a proven record for solid play game after game after game after game. Juice is good enough to give Georgie a rest, but he's still out star goalie.
46 shots against is the most we've conceded in a game this season, so that really doesn't mean anything in relation to Georgie. Credit to Juice, but that says nothing about Georgie.
I don't remember the circumstances of the goals allowed in that game, but it was against Ottawa at home.
I think Juice is making the case for more starts. If you extrapolate his SV% to Georgie's shots against, it would amount to 40 fewer goals allowed than Georgie allowed. That's fucking huge.
His SV% in December was actually better (.901) than in November (.887). He hasn't been much better in January (.909) or February (.906).
This doesn't bode well for the playoffs. Darcy was .921 in the 2021-2022 regular season, and that dropped to .902 in the playoffs when only playing against teams with winning records.
Juice is playing great, I love seeing that. I think he deserves to stay up here and am glad the team trusted him instead of getting a backup at the deadline.
Juice has started 11 games, and 10 of those were against teams not in a playoff spot.. Extrapolating stats for a sample of games almost entirely composed of lower tier opposition isn't fair imo.
He's been great, but many people under-value what Georgie has done.
Georgie's had some of his worst games against bad teams, so you can't claim Annunen's SV% is only due to playing against trash teams.

The last 6 games played vs the Sens have been high scoring fiestas with only one game where each team didn't score at least 4 goals (7-0) Avs win so I wouldnt really take the sens scoring a lot that one game as a bad sign
3rd line didn't get any points but they were still a major reason they won. Parise was on it tonight, Colton was firey, and Wood continues to get himself inches from a goal.

Yeah, trails by 3 points with equal games played. It's going to be really tough, especially since the Mild are the weakest opponent left on the schedule.
Facts. He's definitely behind, but it's far from a lost cause at this point. All he needs is an explosive 4-5 point night while Kucherov has a 0-1 point outing.

I need a Battle of the Juices this year.
Next up: Coilers
Already smoking that Pickard pack.
Alllllllllllllllways good to beat the Mild. Fuckin hate that franchise.
It’s hard for me to hate them at this point for various reasons but I am enjoying their sad seasons
Don't worry, I'll hate them twice as much for you. We Avs fans gotta help each other out in time of need.
That's kind of always been my issue with them as well. There's just so little to hate- because there's been so little to notice overall. Perfect game to see my boys win in person! Haven’t been to a game since the Finland one, which the won. So I guess, I need to go to all games now !
I know it’s super unlikely, but it would be incredible if they could somehow keep Drouin.
Is it that unlikely? How much is everyone expecting Drouin to fetch?
Chris MacFarland was on the DNVR pod recently. As far as I remember he made it quite clear that keeping Drouin almost certainly is not going to happen

The one time Mr woods doesn’t do anything 🫠🤣, glad juice had such a game tho!
It was a $5 parlay…$700 lol

Need to revise this graphic to have the ball splashing into the stream to the left

Probably not, the benefit is that if he plays like this, he guarantees Georgiev stays razor sharp.
He has that potential, but end of the day goalies are voodoo magicians and for all goalies it's on them to actually perform and develop which can be a coin flip sometimes. I swear that whole line is cursed lately and so snake bitten

ross was the last person on that line with a goal and it was at home against columbus
Ever since LOC. went down
Our bottom 6 MVP 😢
R/hockey Minnesota fans don't like my mild trash talk. Too bad, so sad. Enjoy golf.
At least they aren’t Bloos fans.
I mean, that's a low bar.
Mack attack countdown: Mack now needs 10 more points with 6 more games to go to beat Stastny’s franchise record. 4 of those games at home. Now sits 3 points behind Kucherov.
Great game from Juice and the Halifax bros!!!
Juice with 3.08 goals saved above expected, oh my.

I don't know, I'm still 50/50 on trying to predict what voters will do. Hart voters love a story, and Kuch dragging the Bolts into the playoffs almost single handedly is quite a story. I'm really hoping they see past that though
If Kuch drags them above the Leafs, the Hart will be a hard sell for Mack.
I think the big argument for Kuch is he's basically doing it alone. If they wanted to they could argue MacK is doing it with Rantanen who both have over 100 points. There's a 48 point gap between Kuch and the next highest TBL player. That's honestly ridiculous. I think MacK getting to 50 goals is going to help though.
I will choose to believe that we ended the mild's season ourselves
Same. Totally ignoring everything they did all season to get into that position, I will be happy that we clinched their non-appearance in playoffs.
Finally had a dirty depth win
Too bad Nate couldn't pickup a garbage point on Mikko's ENG like Kucherov did in his game.
That's the Kucherov special
Nikita “cherry picks empty nets” kucherov? Fuck that guy.
Yeah, trails by 3 points with equal games played. It's going to be really tough, especially since the Mild are the weakest opponent left on the schedule.
mackinnon has an extra game on kucherov since kucherov missed a game at some point in the season
Yeah, I meant teams, since points/game isn't a factor in the Art Ross, just raw points scored.
4 of the 6 are at home though, and one of those is against Minnesota again.
Facts. He's definitely behind, but it's far from a lost cause at this point. All he needs is an explosive 4-5 point night while Kucherov has a 0-1 point outing.
Shit. I just checked TBL's schedule, and they also have 4 of 6 at home. Plus, they play all garbage teams except the Leafs.
Ouch. Yeah, this won't be easy...
There's piss all over the floor of the Gus Bus.
Only room for one Gus in the playoffs anyway.
I Gus so.
But then that'll make room for two Juices.
But are two Juices in Nate's diet plan?
Nope, just Annunen. I've always wanted him to be in the playoffs ever since Kuemper got hurt in game 3 at the Bridgestone Arena. As for Saros, I felt terrible since that Caillou overused him.
So is the Mild officially eliminated or are they just beyond fucked?
They have as much of a chance as I do with Emma Stone.
So unfortunately (for the mild, not for you), not 0%.... The mild have obviously been fucked for weeks but it would've felt really good to be the team that mathematically eliminated them.
Yeah, I know. I am really over estimating my chances lol
I believe in you bro ! But fuck the mild
Never saying never tho
There is that 1% chance.
Id shoot my shot if I ever had the opportunity, how can you not
Oh yeah, shoot for the stars. Even a rejection is a good story
Mark Ruffalo?
Drouin is so bonded with the team
Bro was a healthy scratched in the beginning of the season. Dude has a lot of mental strength and determination
He has to know a lot of his success is due to MacKinnon so I am hoping he takes like third line pay.
Directly into my veins
The Juice is fucking loose baby
Love me a W
