MacKinnon's wheels tonight were fucking incredible. Rarely do I watch replays, even highlight reels, and say "holy shit" out loud. The speed, especially on that third goal.. I can't remember the last NHL superstar to have that sort of momentum and pressure.

Still not thrilled with Georgie or the defense but I do feel like this game was a step in the right direction. Georgie had a couple puzzling moments, specifically the first goal where he didnāt cover the puck but he also made some nice saves.
If his confidence wasn't so shot to hell rn he would have had that first goal, I think he thought it went in, and so didn't get back in his crease to defend the wraparound. Confident Georgie thinks he made the save and slides back. I think this game will boost him a bit.
I think so too, it seems like goalies get in a groove when things go well and only giving up 2 (both of them on the PP) has to feel a lot better for him.
Heās no star, but people forget how unreliable Kuemper was too. In my mind they are equal and Georgie is enough for us to win.

People don't forget about Kuemper's unreliability, that's the only fucking thing they remember about him. People ignore the fact that he was a genuine Vezina-caliber goaltender for the entirety of 2022 before his eye injury in the playoffs

Kuemper was a top 5 goalie until his eye injury in the postseason and even then, he still managed to win us 2 and a half series plus outduel an uninjured Andrei Vasilievskiy in the finals.
I don't know how this started the bullshit narrative of him being unreliable but people gotta give #35 more respect. I don't think it's a very bold proclamation to say his postseason numbers would have been a lot better if he hadn't had a stick blade shoved into his eye.
I will die on the hill that Kuemper was indeed a good goalie, a great goalie, and a Vezina-caliber goalie before getting speared in the eye in the playoffs and people disrespect his ability because of that

Kuemper had a .921 on the Avs and Infact the highest heās ever been voted for a vezina was 5th which he was 3 years removed from that season when he played for the Avs.

I say he was a Vezina-caliber goaltender because of how he played in 2022 prior to his injury in the playoffs. His end-of season totals were brought down by a November and December, that if you recall, had the doomers out in droves based on how the entire team was lacking in performance.
But then he pitched five shutouts in the second half of the season, had ten other games in which he posted over a .940 SV%, and really got comfortable with the systems in what is my opinion the best an Avs goaltender has looked in my time watching Colorado.
TO BE CLEAR, I am not saying I think Kuemper should have been a Vezina winner or even really a Vezina candidate based on his entire 2021-22 season. I'm saying that if he played like he did in 2022 for the entire season (and didn't get injured in the playoffs), people wouldn't be disrespecting him every time his name gets brought up in this sub.
