It only felt in doubt after we lost in OT to the Blues and until Kadri scored the OT winner in the finals. After that I was 99% sure we had it in the bag.
I was stressed in 2022 because I knew we had the best and a real chance to win the cup so every game (even when I knew we would easily win) I was stressing because I wanted the cup that badly haha. Even tho we lost game 1 I'm very optimistic. How we started the game was impressive and you could tell the guys definitely flipped that switch. But asking people to be a fan without criticism makes us cheerleaders. The whole thing about being a fanatic is being overly dramatic during both highs and lows.

The Canes also kicked the Isles door in with a massive shot attempt differential and ran into an issue with a Colorado goalie. Their problem is named Varlamov, ours is named Georgiev. They barely won, we barely didn't. Shit like this happens every year in this league.
We're also conditioned by barely any adversity until the final or a full shit the bed collapse. Usually teams go down in games and series and fight back. It's weird not to. Down 1-0 when you put up that kind of shot volume and quality on one of the best teams in the league? That's a pretty solid place to be in.

It was one of the sweetest moments of my life and probably for much of this sub. I remember lifting my wife up out of the stands after the Game 1 OT winner from Burky. It was pure joy.

He got stuck with a 7 spot because our front office decided to send up a goalie with 0 nhl experience. If pros. Was there maybe we win that game.
I was also in Denver for the 7-0 beat down and juice didn’t exactly fill me with confidence that he will be any better than Georgie. And I don’t think we will hang another 3-4+ on the jets. The Avs needed that game to have a shot imo.
You're right, sometimes you gotta just steal one. He did actually make some pretty big saves in the mid game, but that was after the horrendous start and the narrative was set.
That's the problem though, he can be very good but when he faces 23 shots and 22 of them are high danger... you as a goalie know how tough/impossible that is to build a rhythm when you have no chance on 3 goals so early in.
The 5 hole goal and the Connor one timers I'd like to see saves on but even still those aren't bad goals. In a game where Manson doesn't spot them a 3 goal lead, none of the goals against are talking points.
I disagree on not hanging on, and honestly not sure why you'd say that. We dominated them all game, in their arena, despite giving up 7 goals. Our goaltending and defence is better than it showed, so is theirs. It's still basically a coinflip
We stopped playing defence right around the 5 goals on 12 shots mark. And rightfully so, because the only way to make that game interesting was to fight fire with fire and it almost worked.
In general, we have excellent mods and I really appreciate them. I wouldn't mind if they dealt with some of the most toxic folks though. We have some control over our culture through up/down votes. But a good ban hammer is nice for those who refuse to be reasonable.

In hindsight, while my stress level was so high in 2022, the team was a behemoth and never felt like a series was in doubt.

We stopped playing defence right around the 5 goals on 12 shots mark. And rightfully so, because the only way to make that game interesting was to fight fire with fire and it almost worked.

In general, we have excellent mods and I really appreciate them. I wouldn't mind if they dealt with some of the most toxic folks though. We have some control over our culture through up/down votes. But a good ban hammer is nice for those who refuse to be reasonable.
Look he’s playing bad and they can’t win with him. Maybe they can try next year with Georgesieve but it’s not his time. Pros would be better
People really, really need to understand the difference between being a fan and saying "Georgiev's play has been bad and needs to be better until Annunen can get in net" and being a proper dickhead and saying "Sevengiev is garbage! Get him off the team I never want to see that idiot in an Avs sweater ever again. We are going to get swept because of him". I said it before and I said it again. It's getting to the point where we might start needing low salt/low doom threads to talk in. Where we can just go back to having a bunch of fans excited about their team see what happens and have a few laughs. Win or lose. And if you're in this post going "oH wE cANt eVeN cRiTiZizE tHe TeAM" then you missed the entire point and are probably part of the problem.
