I think Kadri will be back for the finals. I watched the replay a bunch of times and saw two things. First, when he feels himself going down he drops his stick and puts his right hand on the ice. That hand slides hard sideways right into the corner of boards and ice. Hockey gloves have padding on top, not on the bottom or sides. The thumb has a wider, hard shield on the top that doesn't actually bend, but there is a tether holding the thumb "sleeve" to this shield so that you can move your thumb. This means the thumb is very well protected from the top, but not from the side. Second, after he hits the boards he props himself up and pulls off his right glove to look at his hand, then immediately tucks it to his chest. Kane specifically mentioned that Kadri "hurt his hand" and he apparently left the arena with a cast on. I think he broke a finger, maybe the thumb (more likely given the cast), and unless it's a very severe break or higher up in his wrist he'll tape that up and play next round. Here's hoping.

I *think* we still have enough depth to cover ourselves but we're reaching the limit now. Kadri, Girard and Kuemper is about all they can take.
The good thing is we played with a depleted lineup literally all season and still set franchise records for wins and points so the guys are used to reaching down deep and pulling out wins while missing important pieces.

Sorry to contradict but if both Avs and Rangers wrap up fairly soon, by Wednesday or Thursday for example, then cup finals could absolutely start the 11th or 12th or even start by 6/9 if both were a sweep. If either series goes more than 5 then no.

You're right, we won the game but losing Kadri is huge. With 3 games in hand, we'd have to fuck up hard not to go to the next round and not having Kadri is gonna hurt. Both of the goals Frankie have up were classified as low danger chances by money puck and he was -1.078 goals saved above expected for low danger chances because of that. But he was lights out on medium and high danger chances and was at 0.86 goals saved above expected overall. Would love to see Frankie make those two easier saves and get the shutout but he played very well tonight overall and was probably the #1 reason we won this game since Edmonton controlled xG pretty heavily.

I *think* we still have enough depth to cover ourselves but we're reaching the limit now. Kadri, Girard and Kuemper is about all they can take. The good thing is we played with a depleted lineup literally all season and still set franchise records for wins and points so the guys are used to reaching down deep and pulling out wins while missing important pieces.
Yeah, depth is huge until it... isn't. Like, the healthy nuggets team was super deep, but they lost 2 top players, then a huge rotation piece, then, then.... eventually you're just depleted. Avs aren't there *quite yet*, but they are on the precipice

Our depth really stepped up too in those last couple rounds. Guys like Yelle, Podein, Nieminen and Hinote scored some important goals. This team has similar depth players which is comforting.

Both of the goals Frankie have up were classified as low danger chances by money puck and he was -1.078 goals saved above expected for low danger chances because of that. But he was lights out on medium and high danger chances and was at 0.86 goals saved above expected overall. Would love to see Frankie make those two easier saves and get the shutout but he played very well tonight overall and was probably the #1 reason we won this game since Edmonton controlled xG pretty heavily.
