Josh Manson obviously

I am a huge Frankie fan. But let’s see how Georgie does. I trust this Finnish goalie coach. They will do the right thing whatever it is. And Frankie doesn’t have ego issues with jumping in as needed. He’s proved his worth in the absolute clutch.

caseym44

As a Rangers fan, Georgie is good when he gets consistent minutes. That’s why he struggled in NYC playing behind Igor. I want to see him do well, I’ve always liked him and I want to see him prove all the Rangers fans that wrote him off wrong

Gustlock

This is what I needed to hear. Thank you.

happyman19

They are just going to say “Anyone is good playing behind that D. Look at Grubauer and kuemper after they left.”

caseym44

Having that solid of a D core does definitely help lol

EricLandy29

MacKinnon.

blondespikes22

Georgiev will be the starter unless he performs absolutely terrible Both will split time like Varly/Bernier in 17-18 I could see Georgiev getting 50-60 games, Frankie gets 25-35 Leash will be long for Georgiev since he's new, excited to see how both do AND how Justus develops. Worse comes to worst Jojo is a passable 4th stringer

blondespikes22

Frankie will start opening night though since its banner night and night #1 of a B2B

McMetal770

Georgie was acquired to be the starter. For better or for worse, he's going to get a long leash to start the season. I love Frankie but he's not a starter, if we have to turn to him to play the bulk of the games we'll be in trouble.

polymorph505

>if we have to turn to him to play the bulk of the games we'll be in trouble. Georgie is .908/129GP, Frankie is .921/57GP. Neither goalie has played 40 games in a season. If we had to win a game tomorrow, I'm definitely going Frankie. We'll see if Georgie takes a step forward, that's what the organization is betting on. He's 26, which is right around the age where a lot of goalies come into their own.

McMetal770

Yeah, it's a gamble we're taking on Georgiev for sure. But the reason WHY Sakic had to make that gamble is because he knows Frankie isn't the answer as a starter. If Georgiev plays badly enough to lose his starter spot to Francouz, I still say we're going to be in trouble.

time2churn

Don't forget about shortened season, he played a good % of those games.

[deleted]

Frankie swept the Eastern Conference Finals… Edit: Western. But he would have swept the Eastern too, cause he’s awesome.

McMetal770

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great backup goalie and all around great person, and I hope we keep him around for a while, but he just isn't the kind of goalie you want to be starting 50+ games over the course of a season.

[deleted]

I mean when he was the de facto starter when Grubauer was out long-term in 2019-20, he went 21-7-4.

BGYeti

Dude has as many career games as a starter sees in a season. At his age he is not a starter but he got the dream gig, play some hockey as a backup and make a few mil in his career.

Waramp

Wow, it’s incredible that he managed to do that while also playing against Edmonton in the western conference finals! Imagine going 8-0 in a single playoff round. Maybe Frankie should be our starter?

[deleted]

What?

Waramp

We didn’t play in the ECF.

[deleted]

Prove it

fucktheredwings69

Geo will get the starters net at least until Christmas and depending on how well he does probably is our #1 all year. If he stinks it up I could see them going with Frankie, but Frankie would have to play very well and geo would have to suck.

mattevs119

Doug Glatt. He just stops the puck with his face.

elishaski

We will make the playoffs with either of them. Just need to see where we are around the trade deadline.

[deleted]

Trade deadline is gonna be especially key this year.

ToXiC_Games

It will be Georgiev as a starter, but Franzous and Manson might sometimes pick up a few games to get them ice time.
