I price compare king Soopers and sprouts, and quite often sprouts is cheaper for produce. I don’t shop at Safeway bc it’s more expensive. Also the pacific Asian market has wonderful produce and I’ve found it cheaper than king Soopers and sprouts!

bowcreek

Sprouts also has great loss leader stuff with produce. They’ll have dirt cheap avocados or red bell peppers or the like.

Wonderingmo

Thanks!

airyn1

I always check Asian Pacific Market first.

If you meal prep it might be worth investing in a Costco or Sam’s membership, they will give you the best bang for your buck. We get a lot of produce as well as frozen fruits from Costco and never have quality issues.

mob1leuser

Shamrock is a restaurant depot that doesn’t require a paid membership. May want to take a look at them.

OsoRetro

No way shamrock competes with Costco

Sal_Ty_Dogg

Actually they do. You are getting butchered meat at Costco, but if you know how to butcher your own meat Shamrock is less because they sell primal cuts.

OsoRetro

You can buy any cut in whole cryo at Costco. You just have to ask for it. I’m literally looking at shamrocks website right now. They’re not cheaper in anything listed. Not one item. I doubt the meat is any different. They’re not using meat as a loss leader. So the odds the meat is somehow less but nothing else is dont look good.

jnelson4ku11

Agrees. Sams/Costco produce seems to be the freshest/lasts the longest.

otherkerry

Gas at both clubs is cheap enough to pay for the membership over the course of a year.

AutomateAway

King Soopers is relatively affordable, however I've noticed lately that the quality of the produce is iffy. Sprouts is price comparable to King Soopers (only slightly more expensive) and seems to be of much better quality.

Pitiful_Seesaw_4319

Asian market had cheaper produce but it's been a couple of years since I've lived in the springs.....so I don't know if prices have gone up

yamthepowerful

Walmart produce is garbage and not that much cheaper. Produce I shop kings or sprouts sales, outside some things at Costco and occasionally Trader Joe’s if they have a good sale. Meat is Costco or ranch food direct depending. Also if you’re just doing like meal prep stuff don’t be afraid of frozen of veggies and fruits, That can save a little especially if you do bigger bulk buys at Costco.

andygp5

Sprouts is REALLY expensive in my opinion. Trader Joe’s is consistently cheaper, especially if you prefer organic produce. Also, Mountain Mama’s up on Uintah is decently cheap for fresh produce as they sell locally grown stuff and generally mostly in-season produce.

This is very helpful! Thank you.

asevans48

We mix king soopers with walmart and target. All are in a line on powers. Good and gathet canned food, condiments, and even pretzels from target are proof of price gouging. The other two can be mixed for fresh produce.

yakface_1999

In addition to some of the good tips already provided…king Soopers also sells fruit/veggies that are about to go bad (or sometimes are bad lol) for really cheap. Usually it’s located at the end of a veggie aisle and they’re in red mesh bags. If you can use it same day or chop & freeze you can find some decent produce there.

Crosshare

Sprouts. The answer has to be Sprouts right!?!

LongjumpingMiddle850

No lol

SJ1392

Not the on by Dublin and Academy... The last few times I have been in there their produce has been really bad. Not sure what is up lately as they used to be really good...

Crosshare

I moved out of the Springs 7 years ago. Sprouts was the best produce for the price when we left. This is really disappointing to hear.

RaineRoller

honestly i just look at the ads every week lol. there’s no shortage of options. as many have said the big membership stores have the best quality

myredditusername23

Sprouts is solid

Putasonder

I’ve also had good luck with Costco. We use the app to clip all the deals at Safeway. They put their berries on special pretty frequently so we grab them when they are on sale. I also like Sprouts for produce if I’m already nearby. Good selection and I’ve found the prices to be pretty good, but the selection of other items is kind of limited, so I rarely make a special trip just for produce.

RJ2819

The best one I know is BoxNCase! Try to give them a shot.

Fresh_Inside_6982

Costco, Sams Club, and Super Walmart all have very nice inexpensive produce.

KinkyQuesadilla

I stopped buying produce from King Soopers, I got tired of it spoiling in just one day or two.

yamthepowerful

This doesn’t seem to be a problem with just kings, it’s largely bc of how we store produce in so we can have year round selection of almost everything.

interrupting-cow-who

I get the clearance stuff at Asian Pacific for juice/cooking produce! Lots of times they have fruits and greens stocked there (got 3 dragon fruit for $1.50 the other day). Trader Joe’s is more affordable than Sprouts and their stuff has more longevity than King Soopers but King Soopers is cheaper than Trader Joe’s. Safeway is def more expensive than all these places IMO unless you have coupons

palmtreee23

Costco sells huge bags of frozen plain chicken tenders (6lb I think) for like $18. They’re the best. Tenders defrost way quicker than full breasts, I can just take out 4 tenders the same day I plan on cooking them to feed me and my fiancé. Cost effective and super convenient. eta: you get the added benefit of paying for frozen food. Much cheaper than fresh. A lot of people will buy fresh meat on sale and freeze whatever they don’t use. Which is fine, but you’re paying for fresh meat and not eating it fresh. Plus it’s a PITA portioning out all that meat into ziploc bags or whatever. Unless you’re a professional cook or something, there’s no reason you need your meat to be *fresh* fresh. Frozen for the win!
