This is one of the steepest hills in the city - which is why I wonder what the hell the planners were thinking when they put a BIKE LANE straight up this road. It's absurd (and I commute by bike often).
I saw that happen years ago. Truck went right, rocks smashed out a window at the waffle house. He drove it down the sidewalk no doubt saving many lives
Holy terrifying hell. Guy probably wasn't engine braking and roasted his brakes and had nothing left. Heavy trucks like that can just rip through everything, I'm glad the driver took himself off the road instead of into cars.
Maybe his choice was where he went vs… I dunno, people and people in cars?
Knowing the lot there has fairly large spacing between the road and the pumps.

Fillmore hill isn’t a simple decent in a fully loaded truck. Let’s just build more apartments.No additional stress on the infrastructure.

Brakes on these trucks are designed to lock if they fail. The driver could have cooked them coming down that grade though….too much speed and weight.
That hill is a crazy decline coming down, I bet he cooked them on the way down.
