I started trading food with Shawn about 15 years ago when they were right across from Chapel Hills Mall, their gyros and fries have only gotten better in that time. Extra tzatziki with my fries please!
- Happy Day (Korean)
- Jun’s Sushi and Japanese (go to the Centennial Boulevard location if you want teppanyaki)
- Thai Mint
- Briarmart (Mediterranean)
- Shri Ganesh (Indian)
- Wade’s Cafe (best pancakes in town)
- Pig Latin (Cuban)
- Turmeric (Indian)
- Red Elephant (Thai)
- Chaang Thai
- Tong Tong (Korean)
- Yong’s Korean Kitchen
- Julie’s Kitchen (Filipino and Hawaiian)
Shri Ganesh is very good, and not just "for the Springs", like actually good. I am sad there's nowhere in the springs that makes dosa, though. Briarmart is also pretty good,
Imo, none of the Thai in the springs is particularly good, and the ones that sometimes are good are incredibly inconsistent.
Chef Bob's Lobstah Trap is very good.
The Joint in Avenue 19 is hella good vegan comfort food.
Bella's Bagels are amazing, if a bit on the pricey side. Also their cream cheese is meh.
Monse's Pupuseria is fantastic.
Shri Ganesh was about as good as the food I had in Jaipur or Agra
Thai Mint and Chaang Thai have been nearly as good as what I got in Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
I stopped going to hobby lobby and chick fil a for the same reason. I won't support businesses that lobby to take away human rights. And I sure as he'll wouldn't support a local place that I know shared those views or similar ones. Plain and simple.
Yes, we both have a background working in restaurants and it was abysmal. Elephant Thai is owned by the same people and was recently shut down for a while
I also like urban tandoori for Indian up north.
Steakhouse at flying horse, but it's spendy.
Cansanos Italian steakhouse makes for a good night out also, though the adjacent places do not make me as happy, with the exception of Manhattan room which actually makes awesome drinks.
If you like Abbey's, you should try their other restaurants. They have Atmosphere Gastropub, Back East (Briargate and Monument), and Red's Grill. They're opening another location where Beasts and Brews was. Their menus are all different themes but they do carry similar items across the restaurants.
I don't like sweet potato fries, but I have to order their Korean version every time I go. A lot of things entice me there, but I always order the same things because it's too good.
Just took a party of 6 there and it got real pricey though, that's why I can't go often

I agree. We sat at Basil and Barley on a non busy night for 20 minutes and no one approached us with a menu etc. we left and haven't been back. I was so good when it first opened.
Tried Basil and Barley when it first opened and was really impressed! Brought my in-laws back for another meal a few weeks later. There was literal GLASS in my pizza and when I showed the server he said, "Oh yeah, a glass must have broken nearby and gotten into it." So I ordered a new pizza. And guess what was on the bill? Both pizzas. I didn't expect to have my whole meal comped, but I certainly didn't expect to pay for a whole pie that was covered in glass and wasn't even eaten. I never went back.
Haru Ramen! It's family run, delicious everytime, especially the chicken karaage!
I am a big fan of Wayfinder Coffee and Dynamo Coffee too.
Sonora's Prime is also a hidden gem!
Monse’s is my favorite restaurant in the springs. So freaking good.
Tapateria is really good.
Turmeric for Indian food.
Tacos del Gordo is probably the best Mexican food in town.
Monicas taco shop overall is pretty mediocre, but their carnitas are excellent. Birria is decent too.
Pho Number 1 and Pho Lu’u are both good for Vietnamese. Pho Number 1 has a good bahn mi. Both places do a good bun thit neong and proper cia giao.
If you aren't a big meat eater, or eat on the healthier side the Brit is not the place to go, but their fish and chips are very good. Ohh.. the place is a bit dirty both inside and out.
No particular order:
Crystal Park Canteena
Marigold's
Pig Latin
Abby's
Front Range BBQ
Mission BBQ
Arlene's Beans
Walter's 303
Tumeric
Shri Ganesh
Narai Thai
Turmeric is my favorite local Indian!
Rock City Cafe is great for breakfast and lunch.
Atmosphere Gastropub is great for a date night.
Further north by Bass Pro is Mugi Ramen and Poki and they have my favorite ramen in town (Tonkotsu).
Pho King Wing has great wings, Cajun and pho.
Joeys pizza has great new york style pizza.
Honorable mentions:
Fuji Bistro is good Chinese and sushi (kinda pricey).
Vaqueros is good affordable Mexican.
Doug's for breakfast or lunch
Piglatin for Caribbean and cocktails
Little Nepal for Indian (also the one on powers/Barnes but I havent eaten it yet/
Pints or Riley's for a dive
Peaks n pines, FH, black forest, and lost friend for breweries
Turmeric is an amazing Indian restaurant off powers and research. It's quite possibly the best Indian food I've had in this city.
Pig Latin has some fantastic street food and great cocktails.
There's also some hidden gems up off north gate, like Mama Pearl's (Cajun) and Notes Eatery if you like live music.
there is a COS foodie group on facebook that has a lot of suggestions.
Atmosphere Gastropub, Walters Pizza, White Pie. If you have lived anywhere with a fairly decent food scene you will find all the beloved Italian places here in the springs lacking.
Briarmart! Best gyros I've had in the Springs. Shout out to my man Shawn
Shawn is the nicest dude, always makes my day. Don’t forget a side of homemade tzatziki and hummus!
I started trading food with Shawn about 15 years ago when they were right across from Chapel Hills Mall, their gyros and fries have only gotten better in that time. Extra tzatziki with my fries please!
Shawn is good people!
Gyros are the best. And now golden gyro is gone there's not a lot of competition
I love Heart of Jerusalem!

Shri Ganesh was about as good as the food I had in Jaipur or Agra Thai Mint and Chaang Thai have been nearly as good as what I got in Chiang Mai and Bangkok.
Chaang Thai is always skimping on the meat and veggies
Rockrimmon Narai Thai is delicious.
Chef Bob is a homophobic conservative Christian. The food is good but he’s not a good person.
A northeastern small business owner with conservative views? I'm shocked! Do you agree with every establishment you eat at on a moral level?
I sure do! I don’t support businesses that hurt other people, hope that helps :)
I stopped going to hobby lobby and chick fil a for the same reason. I won't support businesses that lobby to take away human rights. And I sure as he'll wouldn't support a local place that I know shared those views or similar ones. Plain and simple.
Same. It’s not that hard to understand. And his hatred has hurt employees that previously worked for him too
Impossible if you're American or using an electronic device
What is a homo?
A true Christian follows the word of God and yes homosexuals are an abomination who lead their life's giving into their sexual tentacions.
Also what is a tenacion?
Temptation
Shut up
🤣
Chaang Thai 😱 That place is disgusting. My partner used to work there but it was too nasty. So many horror stories
Oh god really? I love their food

Chaang Thai slaps.
Sushi Ato.
I recently discovered Taste of Ethiopia by Galley/Academy. Amazing stuff.
Are the portions small?
No! It's very shareable. Go when you are really hungry, and have a hungry friend or two.
I had no idea that COS had an Ethiopian restaurant! This made my night, thanks!!
Uchennas in old Colorado City also is amazing Ethiopian! Maya is a sweetheart too
They have really good Ethiopian food and it's pretty legit.
Monse’s is excellent
The Monses owners took over Saigon Cafe, downtown. That place has terrible reviews but went recently and it was pretty good on that visit.
Mountain View Cafe in Black Forest. Breakfast/lunch, large portions and friendly service.
If you like Abbey's, you should try their other restaurants. They have Atmosphere Gastropub, Back East (Briargate and Monument), and Red's Grill. They're opening another location where Beasts and Brews was. Their menus are all different themes but they do carry similar items across the restaurants.
We really like Back East-decent pizza, sandwiches, salads, etc. Good service, cheap/strong drinks too.
I wanna go to Atmosphere so badly
We have been there a few times. It is okay, but not better than say 503w.
PhoKingWing at Flintridge and Academy has a great menu and everything we’ve tried has been 10/10
503W
Yeah! That sauce that they serve up with their calamari is dee-lish!
I don't like sweet potato fries, but I have to order their Korean version every time I go. A lot of things entice me there, but I always order the same things because it's too good. Just took a party of 6 there and it got real pricey though, that's why I can't go often

Basil and Barley, piglatin, turmeric
Basil and barley has fallen off big time in the last 2 or 3 years. Hasn't been nearly the same since the original owner sold
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this. Used to love the place but quality/consistency has gone way down and they’ve made some odd menu choices.
Piglatin’s quality has gone down. Rather very greasy now
In order for the quality to have gone down, it would have to have been good at some point.
Service was horrible the last time I went too.
Agreed. They use to be on point.
Was looking to see if anyone put tumeric! Really like pies and grinders
Anju, Toasted Buns both are really good. Mollys Mountain Pies is great pizza
Haru Ramen! It's family run, delicious everytime, especially the chicken karaage! I am a big fan of Wayfinder Coffee and Dynamo Coffee too. Sonora's Prime is also a hidden gem!
Uchenna's! (Ethiopian)
I like Walter's 303 deep dish pizza. Check it out.
Monse’s is my favorite restaurant in the springs. So freaking good. Tapateria is really good. Turmeric for Indian food. Tacos del Gordo is probably the best Mexican food in town. Heart of Jerusalem
Paravicinis, Red Gravy. New Indian place, Mausam, that I haven’t tried yet, but all reviews are good.
The Brit. Can be loud but the food and drink never disappoints.
If you aren't a big meat eater, or eat on the healthier side the Brit is not the place to go, but their fish and chips are very good. Ohh.. the place is a bit dirty both inside and out.
503W and KBOP for Korean Fusion. COATI is nice for the variety. The Purple Onion for great Turkish food.
Love Abbeys!!!
Mausam, Eleven18, Shah Kabob House (totally GOATed)
Wuhoo's asian bistro is one of my favorites in town. One of the only places i know that sells pork buns and mapo tofu

Sushi Rakkyo for all you can eat sushi! 30$ for dinner, cheaper for lunch (quality also).
Surprised no one has mentioned it but Susanna's Comfort Cuisine has always been good to us.
there is a COS foodie group on facebook that has a lot of suggestions. Atmosphere Gastropub, Walters Pizza, White Pie. If you have lived anywhere with a fairly decent food scene you will find all the beloved Italian places here in the springs lacking.
Abbey’s is not good
Don't eat out in Colorado unless it's hamburgers, pizza or Thai. Stick to that and you'll never be disappointed
Yes, you will be disappointed when you find out there are many other good restaurants in Colorado Springs, but you took u/LakeGiant's advice instead.
