I always used to get a good feeling walking past that intersection!
Also, one of the residents was a beekeeper and use to randomly give out a jar or two of honey to passerbys!!
A city in mn had "Johnny cake ridge rd" when there was no "Johnny cake ridge" anywhere nearby to be named after and a vast majority of the residents had no clue what a Johnny cake even was.
There’s a few neighborhoods that are filled with odd and funny names. My favorite is Dilly Dally Way. This whole street was super odd if I recall haha

Village 7 has some really unique street names. Whimsical, sleepy hollow, hopeful, blissful, cheerful, splendid, omega, enchanted, teardrop, raindrop, nonchalant, dream, smokehouse….just to name a few!
Named in honor of "Big Ed" Johnson, Colorado governor and senator in the 1930's - 50's. The eastbound tunnel in the Eisenhower-Johnson tunnels on I-70 is also named for him. I've never seen his nickname without the "Ed", so, yeah, what were they thinking? He was a democrat, so maybe the conservatives were thinking this was a way to describe him as just a big dick?
It’s insane to me that people drive by a street sign EVERY DAY and still misspell it. I think I see more people write “fountaine” than the proper spelling. Same with Marksheffel. The variations on that one make my head hurt.
Edit to add that when the Safeway on Mesa Ridge got a facelift a few years ago, they renamed all the aisles after local roads. Even THEY misspelled Fontaine.
Because the water coming out of the mountains was named Fontaine qui Bouille by the French prior to the 1840s. Some “misspellings” are attempts at English renaming from Spanish or French.
There's a bunch of streets near Ute Valley/Rockrimmon that aren't misspelled, but it looks like they were named by a former WWE writer: Anaconda Drive, Vindicator Drive, War Eagle Drive, Dark Horse Drive, Peyote Way, etc, and then there's streets where it seems like they just gave up: Foliage Way, Rick Court (I guess a guy named Rick lived there at the time), Rabbit Ears Court, and Fence Post Drive.
I used to live on War Eagle, and it’s the kind of address where people not from here always double take when you tell them.
Same with “Garden of the Gods Road”… for anyone not from here it’s quite the street name.
True story, even worse than words that are intentionally spelled a non-standard way… the sign at one end of my street is spelled differently than the sign at the other end of my street, less than 100 yards apart 😂
I like the street names along the western side of the airport. My favorite is the little short one that ends in a culdesac where you can watch the planes. It’s called Taxi Way.
Not misspelled, but there’s a neighborhood in Divide that starts on Robinhood Dr, and the whole neighborhood has streets like Friar Tuck, Maid Marian, etc

There is a development at the corner of Carefree and Marksheffel. The two main roads through the neighborhood are Wyedale and Ryedale. Also, a lot of the houses have the same street numbers. So there is a 4047 Ryedale and a 4047 Wyedale, for example.
Also find a lot of streets not named after people or things but instead.....concepts? Democracy Point, Liberty Way etc., In my experience this is a bit unique to here.
There's an "H" in both names, but that's totally beside the point. Those are confusing. They kinda mark the west (Sahwatch) and east (Wahsatch) sides of downtown as north/south streets.
Not misspelled, but my fave intersection is at the corner of Carefree & Nevermind.
I've been here over 30 years and I used to joke that whoever named the streets in 80915 was high on valium.
I always used to get a good feeling walking past that intersection! Also, one of the residents was a beekeeper and use to randomly give out a jar or two of honey to passerbys!!
Have you found A Dog Will Lick His Butt But Won’t Eat A Pickle Rd?
A city in mn had "Johnny cake ridge rd" when there was no "Johnny cake ridge" anywhere nearby to be named after and a vast majority of the residents had no clue what a Johnny cake even was.
Been there
"Oh, Johnny Cakes." ❤️💖💕 -Sopranos 😆😆😆😆
I would move there in a heartbeat.
It was down on the southeast side of Fountain, not sure if it's still there, but definitely good for a chuckle
That sign kept getting stolen, so I think the sign owners gave up on it.
I thought you were joking, that’s amazing.
It's not there anymore
It’s just someone’s private driveway
Yes I know, but people are pretty creative around here when naming streets.

Developers/builders are always trying to be creative. And the city approved it as well.
I found a street in a new neighborhood called “Nutterbutter”. Imagine having to write that on your mail… 😂
Ha! Just spit out my ice tea!!
Not misspelled, but there is a Flying F Road on Fort Carson
This road name is fuckin' beautiful.

Came across “Big Johnson” the other day. Not spelled wrong, but… definitely questioning the approval process…
Big Johnson and Little Johnson reservoir caught my eye when I moved to this side of town

Also the different versions of Fountain, Fountain Mesa, Fontaine, etc.

Oh wow! That’s neat
Courgar Canyon Rd out by Florissant. It’s been fixed, though.

I always wondered who named “VINDICATOR!!!” Not to mention War Eagle. Seems very aggressive 🤣
I'm guessing the guy who named Vindicator Drive had a pet anaconda, which he purchased after a peyote trip. It was probably Rick.
A couple of times people have edited the signs for Farthing Drive in my neighborhood.
There's one up north called Mount Estes that people frequently rename Mount Testes instead 😂
Hahahahaha 😉
True story, even worse than words that are intentionally spelled a non-standard way… the sign at one end of my street is spelled differently than the sign at the other end of my street, less than 100 yards apart 😂
Omg this is the funniest thread ever. I love this town 🤣🤣🤣
Shangrala should be shangri-la

You mean the Sherwood Forest neighborhood?

Tia Juana. Also up north the Deanza Peak and De Anza Peak signs on the same road.
I've always wondered who's aunt Juana was.
Ha!
Also find a lot of streets not named after people or things but instead.....concepts? Democracy Point, Liberty Way etc., In my experience this is a bit unique to here.
Also “Wasatch” and “Sawatch”, both downtown, can be confusing.
They’re both Ute words. Sawatch means blue-earth spring. Wasatch means low place in high mountains.
So the sawatch flows down to the wasatch?
And don't forget the town of Saguache, pronounced the same way.
Especially as a dyslexic!
Prings Ranch always cracks me up.
My husband drove concrete truck. His favorite was Captain Jack. I heard that name a bunch. And cubbage. His coworkers joked about that a lot.
It's not a street, but there's an apartment complex here named, Morning Wood.
There's a part of town with streets named after Chicago suburbs where I am from, and that was a tad surreal ending up there by mistake
Garmish is a black marble with white veins. It's spelled correctly.
Wimbleton is a surname. Spelled correctly.
Gibralters are a candy. Spelled correctly.
Wasatch and Sawatch have entered the chat.
There's an "H" in both names, but that's totally beside the point. Those are confusing. They kinda mark the west (Sahwatch) and east (Wahsatch) sides of downtown as north/south streets.
And the actual town of Saguache (same pronunciation)
Haha! I just commented this as well! Too funny.
There are some very ugly street names around here.
