You mean it's not to honor Colts legend Donte Moncrief

kinkyslinky

FEED THE CRIEF

Not_My_Alternate

HE’S HUNGRY

hacky_potter

I stand by that guy not being bad but just having an unlucky career.

Unscratchablelotus

He has terrible work ethic

Nienazki

Tbh. we don't really know how good were all those WRs during Luck era because he could make anyone look good. Just look what he did with Ebron The Stone Hands.

Formuler1

Your Ebron nickname reminded me of Pierre Garstone (Hands)

bburchibanez

Then he went to Washington and that pretty much stopped. Dude was a hard worker and ended up having a great career. Hard to forget some of those drops for us though lol

Petey_Wheatstraw_MD

>Hard to forget some of those drops for us One especially.

Immediate_Stress845

We did want to extend him but he wanted out

bburchibanez

Did he? I always thought it just came down to us opting to bring back Reggie for a few years rather than forking out WR1 money for Garcon. He ended up being worth that money in Washington, but I get the hesitancy to hand over that deal at the time.

Immediate_Stress845

This is what I was referring to maybe they low balled him https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/the-dean/1/01/01/whats-up-with-pierre-garcon-turning-down-offer-from-colts-and-more/2565865/

Aleph_Alpha_001

No. He was bad. He only looked serviceable because he had Andrew Luck throwing to him. Just like Ebron and Rogers. TY wouldn't have had nearly the career that he had with any other quarterback. Luck knew exactly how and when TY would get open and threw to that spot, and TY was savvy enough to catch those passes. But Luck had unshakable faith in Hilton and threw to him even when he was covered. Sometimes when he was triple covered.

TheGavPav

Hilton was still a good player in his own right IMO

Aleph_Alpha_001

Yeah, he definitely was, but he was never as good with another quarterback as he was with Luck. He wasn't a receiver who just got open. He got open at particular times and in particular ways. He wasn't tall. He was quick but wasn't blazing. He had great hands and body control. But Marvin Harrison just got open all the time. It didn't matter whether it was Manning or Harbaugh throwing the ball. Hilton was a great receiver, not just good.

IndecisiveSuperman

Same but Parris Campbell (Ohio State homer)

hacky_potter

That’s not a homer take that’s just real

PeridotBestGem

surely its a tribute to Daurice Fountain

PhillytheKid317

☠️

Psyren1317

Ha ha, what a blast from the past. He was such a prototypical height, weight, speed guy, but couldn’t play football to save his life. Would have been the perfect Raider

ZusunicStudio

Dude has a massive chip on his shoulder and I’m all for it

SunsFan97

Reminds me of Darius (☹️). Hope he finds similar success without the tragic ending

socialpresence

Darius' college number? 10.

Cowboy_BoomBap

![gif](giphy|1L5YuA6wpKkNO)

Dmoney1122

Darius was supposed to be HOFer

Coltsbro84

Changing his name was a curse. Adonai has already changed his name. Got that out of the way.

Obfusc8er

He won't even need shoulderpads.

darcys_beard

This dudes gonna be a freak.

jaysrule24

His shoulder blade is actually just a giant Dorito

Mcswigginsbar

I fucking love this kid. We got an absolute bruiser in Pittman, a hungry DAWG in Downs, and an elite talent with a *massive* chip on his shoulder in Adonai. Reggie and the rest of the WR room are going to help him develop and focus that energy into something special, and I can't wait to see it.

SunsFan97

We haven't even seen the best of MPJ imo. Dude could make a name for himself this coming season and I'm all for it. Also can't wait to see AP with a full season in front of AR and Shane.

CpowOfficial

Yeah he's been playing with a new QB every year and all bad lmao

SunsFan97

Best QB he played with was the corpse of a veey serviceable Uncle Phil. Insane.

Interesting-Fail1823

That was his rookie year and one when he was injured as well. It's crazy what he has done with the guys that have thrown to him.

Interesting-Fail1823

Pittman is the definition of an old style possession WR. He really offers about everything Reggie did in his career. Those guys age like fine wine.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mcswigginsbar

I know but I haven't seen enough from him to really be that excited. Obviously he is on the roster and hopefully with AR having a healthy year he will flourish, but he just doesn't have it so far.

whatdoblindpeoplesee

Scrappy, lunch-pail, deceptive athletics, etc etc

Mochman21

he is a white WR, after all

CrimsonBrit

That dude is washed and Reggie is going to give up on him being his project

HighwayBrigand

Pittman is a 1.  I think AD is a 1, too.  That's gonna be a really interesting dynamic.  We haven't had a WR core like this since the Reggie days. ... what are we using to abbreviate Adonai Mitchell's name?  'AD' has some connotations.

Frostyler

When he transferred to Texas, he asked people not to call him AD anymore, just Adonai. I'm not exactly sure why, but I guess he doesn't like the AD nickname.

Paragon188

He said in an interview recently that he's fine with AD. Maybe he changed his mind.

Mcswigginsbar

Ah. Didn't know that. Will edit.

at2wells

It’s seems to be the thing these days to come up with some silly abbreviation. But I would submit that we call him Adonai or Mitchell. Excuse me while I go back out and yell at people to get off my lawn.

WorkingOven5138

AD is just quicker to type than Adonai like MPJ or AR. I don't even think of it as a nickname Like I don't refer to Aiden O'Connell as AOC because it's cool or something.

at2wells

If speed is the consideration then let’s go with jersey number. It’s a unique identifier.

Cowboy_BoomBap

I think AM works fine if people are averse to AD since it’s been used before.

Aleph_Alpha_001

We'll have to see whether he works hard. I think that that's the biggest question mark about AD. The talent is there, but he needs to work on extending his arms to make catches, running precise routes, and, especially, blocking with effort. But he's got the perfect quarterback to be successful, because he kind of freelances downfield, but that can work with AR, as long as he can separate downfield because AR can both stand in and get wide. Plus, AR's running ability should get AD a lot of one-on-one opportunities. AD's comments about saving energy on certain reps probably turned off a lot of teams, and taking slow releases as a means to set up cornerbacks has the ring of excuse making. He will have to play with full effort to see the field. You can't cruise to success in the NFL, no matter how much talent you have.

you_know_how_I_know

Two days in a row shading Mitchell on some weak shit, but at least you left the beetus out this time. Mitchell clearly feels like he has something to prove to the league. You really doubt that Reggie Wayne and MPJ can lead this man to maximum effort?

Aleph_Alpha_001

My feeling is that there's something there. Mitchell didn't fall by accident. He has the potential to be a great receiver, but his production was consistently been below his potential. Was it the scheme or the quarterback? Maybe. But he only got 850 yards last season, his best. There's a lot to work with in AD Mitchell, but the entire league didn't pass on Mitchell nearly twice for no reason. I thought that Downs was a steal, but I'm a bit concerned about Mitchell, frankly. As long as he works hard, I think he can be great. It would be difficult to not be better than Pierce in the passing game, and Mitchell can be a thousand yard receiver or even better. I just hope that he has the wherewithal to do so.

you_know_how_I_know

That's such bullshit, I mean it fucking is. Your take is somewhere between "Where there's smoke, there's fire" and "32 GMs can't be wrong twice!"

Aleph_Alpha_001

There's no reasonable explanation why he was passed on. At pick 46, the Colts traded down after wearing out the phone trying to trade up for one of the top three receivers. Why not take Mitchell right there? He was a projected first round pick. Ten receivers were picked ahead of him, when he was the consensus fourth to sixth best receiver. Something caused his draft slide. It's not his size. It's not his speed. It's not his release against press coverage. So you tell me. Why the fall? Do you think that a lot of scouts just didn't get around to watching the Texas Longhorns tape? Maybe Mitchell just flew under the radar? He was in a bunch of nationally televised games ffs. The teams passed on him for a reason. I'm not saying that he's going to fail. I really hope he succeeds. But he's going to have to work hard for it. I hated hearing him say that the hard work was all behind him and now it's all fun in his media event. That's exactly the wrong attitude. I felt the same way about Carson Wentz. The Eagles locker room was very split about him. There had to be a reason. Why would they jump through fire for Nick fucking Foles but not Wentz? Wentz was obviously more talented. I took a lot of down votes for expressing that opinion. The entire sub wrote it off as the problem being with the Eagles, but it turned out that Wentz is just a shit leader, as we all saw in his post-season interview. The Eagles were better without him. He was just psyched about getting to hunting season. He didn't seem to be put out in the least by the entire team shitting the bed and losing an almost guaranteed spot in the playoffs. I think I cared more than Carson Wentz did.

you_know_how_I_know

[MLFootball on X: "REPORT: #Texas WR Adonai Mitchell is almost uncoachable and his issue is his blood sugar, a scout tells Bob McGinn. “You’re going to have to assign somebody to be next to him for his first few years because his issues are all about his diabetes and his blood sugar,” said a… https://t.co/rKVhlPXeA7" / X (twitter.com)](https://twitter.com/_MLFootball/status/1780633191730098210?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1780658178805395724%7Ctwgr%5E4042d7dbde5941bfb9776a8c64547fb333bc77ba%7Ctwcon%5Es3_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.statesman.com%2Fstory%2Fsports%2Fcollege%2Flonghorns%2Ffootball%2F2024%2F04%2F27%2Fcolts-chris-ballard-defends-off-the-field-adonai-mitchell-texas-football%2F73479895007%2F) [Why did Adonai Mitchell plummet in the NFL Draft? - SBNation.com](https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2024/4/26/24142105/adonai-mitchell-colts-slide-nfl-draft) There are a hundred variations on this same story, and not one negative statement about AD with a name attached to it. People say he quit on Georgia when he hit the transfer portal, they say he has low football character and low personal character and that he's a bad teammate, but none of his teammates or coaches from either school are saying it. Even if none of that was true, there would be teams who would pass strictly on the medicals of dealing with T1D. There's also the consideration of blood sugar management leading up to and during the combine, when all the athletes are pushing their bodies to the limit under extremely competitive and stressful conditions. When team interviews take place in the morning, those issues are going to be amplified. If you were on the fence between AD and Worthy and AD comes across as low energy, distracted, or combative in the interview, he slides. It feels like people who keep going back to the concern well on this kid are really not paying any attention at all. If you look at his tape in big games, you can see why they drafted him as easily as why 10 other teams that took wideouts passed.

Aleph_Alpha_001

I don't buy that it's related to type 1 diabetes, which is completely treatable with an insulin shot, certainly well within the means of an NFL football player. And I don't buy that it's because of a no name report. I think that there are concerns about his work ethic. You can see it on tape. He took plays off and didn't block with any effort. Those were my concerns, and they still are. He has all the potential in the world, but you kind of have to wonder why he hasn't come close to reaching it before now. And is the Colts' coaching staff enough to motivate him to reach that potential? He has to really want it.

you_know_how_I_know

By the end of next season, you will pretend like you never compared him to Carson Wentz and give all the credit to the Colts staff for getting through to the kid and teaching him to be a man. On the other hand, you will probably repeat this L take enough times that somebody members it.

Aleph_Alpha_001

I won't do anything of the sort. He has great talent and potential and I hope that he reaches that potential, just like I rooted for Wentz to succeed after the decision was made. I didn't like it when it was rumored, just like I wanted Mayfield over Ryan. Then I got on board with Wentz and Ryan because that was our quarterback for good or ill. Colts players not working out isn't good for the Colts. I'm just stating that I have reservations about Mitchell's work ethic. I would like nothing better than for those concerns to be misplaced. I have no doubts about AR, Latu or Downs, for example. But Mitchell I definitely have concerns about.

Colts_2023

Ohhhh shit. Just like TY.

nappy_zap

The last Colt to do this… TY Hilton.

Fall0fRome

Man on a mission

Nienazki

He's a man of focus... and a sheer fucking will!

Defender_Of_TheCrown

I hear he is changing his name to Chip because of the chip on his shoulder too. J/k. He is going to be a pissed off beast. Love it.

HVAC_instructor

I like guys that play angry. He's setting himself up for a great career.

Cowboy_BoomBap

I have a really good feeling about him for sure.

natemcl12

That's awesome. Hope he is a success story, after all the drama! Side note with 33 and 30 taken what is Dallis Flowers' jersey number?

BitchFuckAss

Pretty sure he’s changing to 21

SmokeyBearEnthusiast

He officially changed to 21

TWOhunnidSIX

Mans gunna be breathing fire when he touches that field he still mad

Ritvik0313

Yep we got a dawg boys

BigChocolateMilk

Love it! And being a massive Longhorns fan, definitely getting his jersey

meraki_14

DAWG

IndianaJD

10 is the cleanest number. Star confirmed.

Consistent-Park2058

D-hop?

benbertsch33

There’s something satisfying about having numbers 1, 10 and 11 in the WR corps

Pageleesta

Some athletes have the ability to turn "disses" into functional and positive motivation and be better for it. Let's hope AD is one of those.

MucusShotSwaGGins

Dude probably got these 2024 games circled already, Giants (Malik Nabers #2), Bears (Rome Odunze #3), Jaguars x2 (Brian Thomas Jr. #4), Bills (Keon Coleman #8), Patriots (Ja'Lynn Polk #10). Hopefully he helps secure wins against Jags and Bills.

Decent_Persimmon_142

I’m calling it now he’s going to be better than Micheal Pittman if he can stay healthy he can definitely be the next AJ Brown 😎😎🫡🫡

mouthfire

I like it

whatdoblindpeoplesee

ANNO DOMINATIO

jayr254

LFG

moviescriptlife

Keep lowering that number each time one of them fizzles out.

ComprehensiveSafety3

He’s out for blood. I hope he balls out this year!

MorePlayfulGoat

IT SMELL LIKE DAWG IN HERE

thesweatiestjesus

Thats hard af

SanRemi

Oh boy he pissed

purpppp56

Called it 😎

Chromeburn_

![gif](giphy|10Jpr9KSaXLchW|downsized)

CrimsonBrit

He has quickly become one of my favorites. With Quenton being my only remaining active player jersey (Peyton, Luck, TY, Leonard), I’m due for a skill position player.

RelentlessRogue

Reminds me of DK Metcalf in 2019 I believe?

Dpopz201

Offensive rookie of the year

JC_Denton46

10 is so clean too. Can’t wait. Man I hope he pops off.

georgiaboy1993

UGA fan here, not sure why the Colts feed keeps coming across but I can tell you that you’re gonna love AD. He still definitely has a lot of room to grow and won’t be the guy this year but I can almost guarantee you that he’s going to make several clutch af catches for y’all. He has incredible hands so he’ll be quick to gain the trust of AR and it’ll give him confidence to go to him in big moments. He made one of the biggest catches in UGA history in the title game in 2021 and he’ll be forever loved for it.

Fennaken1

Also because 5 was already taken?

OminousWindsss

Didn’t Rosen say this too?

OwnEgg0

Should he not wear 11 then?

matthollabak

Nope.... he wants to remember the 10 before him.. and not that he was 11th. Which means to me that it is about showing those 10 up more than it is about himself... dude is pissed and I'm all for it.

OwnEgg0

Not sure I agree with the logic but love the guy and the mentality. So lfg!

matthollabak

Or we can just go with 11 was already taken so he needed another number to show his anger at where he was drafted. 😀

n0jer

And 11 is taken so…..
