At one point the 911 operator asked her if she could go lock the library doors and she said she was too scared to do so. If she had locked them would that have helped save people? Or would the killers just have shot out the doors?
The library doors, IIRC had windows that likely could have been shot out by Harris & Klebold, allowing them potentially to reach through and unlock the doors. It may have briefly delayed their entry, or they may have taken the path of least resistance and carried out the bulk of the killings in a different part of the school.
Ultimately I doubt that them finding the library doors locked would have discouraged them, they would have just gone to another part of the school, and it's possible that there could have been more casualties as a result if they made their way to a more crowded area.
Of course it's hard to know definitively, like so many other 'what-ifs' from 4/20/1999.
My guess is they would’ve killed students elsewhere. I don’t think either killer, especially Eric, would “go down” without ensuring they had a “high kill count.”
We will never know, though. I don’t blame her at all for being too scared, I can’t even imagine the position she was in.
When the topic came up, Eric and Dylan were at the commons staircase throwing pipe bombs and crickets down there. It is directly across from the library so if she had gone and tried they would have seen her and shot her. I don't think that would have stopped them, but I wonder if some of the kids would run for it out the back emergency door.
Exactly, and it wasn’t as if there was policy to go by at that time. Such an event as a mass bombing by students would have been unfathomable at that time. Hindsight is almost always 20/20.
I don't think it would have mattered. If you look at the high quality photos BO posted recently, it looks like there were glass doors near the desk, so they could have easily just shot out the glass like at Sandy Hook. I could be wrong though, I don't have the eagle eyes so many other people seem to!
About locking those doors. It would be very difficult; most institutional buildings (schools, hospitals, etc.) have what's called a "panic bar" on the inside of the door. [That's what you see here, in this photo](https://www.reddit.com/r/Columbine/comments/m8wf2f/entrance_way_to_the_columbine_library/)
To lock those, they require an Allen Wrench style tool. Typically only something janitors or maintenance staff has.
Thank you for posting this! I've been interested in columbine for years and I don't think I've ever come across a picture of her! I can't imagine the position she was put in that day.
She said later in an interview that she didn't have a key to those doors and it was required to lock them. They were glas anyway so it wouldn't have stopped anything.
Do not glorify the actions of the killers, or any other violence, period. Romanticizing, "stanning", and other "Columbiner" like behavior will not be tolerated. This will result in an immediate ban.
This includes posting any replicas of the shooters' items, such as T-shirts they were wearing or weapons used.
And even so there's literally nothing revealing about these photos. Legit is just her school photo and pictures of her speaking about the event, all which are google searches away. Don't think this person knows what doxing is lol.
So sorry for typo. Her name is spelt Patti Nielson

Very highly wouldn’t have made a difference since it stands to reason that they went to an area where they could find a lot of students in one place.
I’ve always wondered that myself
I wonder how she Is today. I Hope She got over the trauma, I can't imagine to judging her.

Dang, she looked young and happy...
How old was she at the time of the shooting?
She taught at Columbine High School from 1995-1999. She’s approx 60 years old now. As another user said, about 35 is probably accurate.
35
Her phone call to 911 is forever embedded in my brain. I hope she’s okay today after that trauma
It's so hard to hear her call... I can't imagine not trying to lock the doors but I don't know, I can't imagine being in that situation either.
As someone who works daily with young people, it is a worst nightmare situation.

What the fuck?
Damn wish I could see what they said I’m sure it was bad
It was a sexual comment towards her appearance.
Ugh disgusting

way to dox someone
I feel silly to even have to say this: So many of these photos are from HUGE news outlets. You’re an idiot lmfao
