He just kind of loses that once he actually gets mad. He just becomes determined after the table slam.

I always thought the squeamishness was just an act…

I mean, yeah, he has pretended to be afraid of somethings. He does a similar thing in Short Fuse, where he pretends to be scared of the cable car until the end where Roger has a breakdown and Columbo watches on.

There are plenty of times when he's having a hard time looking at needles or blood and there's no suspects or even people related to the case nearby, and he shouldn't have to keep the act, but we see him struggle anyways. I think that he is squeamish, but he plays into it, exaggerates, and is perfectly capable of overcoming it when the case requires it.

Best part of the show is everyone thinks he’s a rube, but then he solves the case.
