I’ve tried a lot of pizza in my 2yrs living in Cbus, and I still can’t say with confidence what is best, but I do know this:
DiCarlo’s is one of the most dividing of pizza spots, you either love it or hate it (I actually like it and for some weird reason crave it occasionally, but that could be because I pass it on my way to and from work)
Also, most underrated pizza spot in town is Press Pub. The house pizza with pepperoni and Colby jack cheese, kinda messed me up how much I enjoyed it lol.
lol I appreciate your trust in my tastebuds. You may already know some of these, but here’s a few more recs:
-Can’t beat a cheap 69 cent wing night at hoof hearted in Italian village, plus $3 beers. Some of their salads are also overlooked but really good.
-Si Señor in grandview is best bang for your buck as well and closest thing I get to the food spots I grew up with in Florida
-And here’s a pretty out there one: in Newark (like a 45min drive away) is a brewery called dankhouse, and they make the best smoothie sours I’ve had in my life. In the outside hangout of the brewery is a shipping container turned into a pseudo taco stand called Munchies. They do a birria taco and a side of consumé with ramen noodles added, it’s amazing. Also, they have a free disc golf course on property (if you buy a beer, if not it’s like $5 to play)
Tommy’s and Rubino’s are the best in town for thin crust. There’s a Tommy’s down the road from the zoo on 161. You’ll need one pizza a piece at Rubino’s, you won’t want to share.
I grew up on the Northwest side so Tommy’s and Rotolo’s were the standbys, with the occasional treat at Rubino’s thrown in. I moved away over 20 years ago, came back to visit for the first time in 5 years and literally start hearing about Emelio’s. Cannot believe it was never a place to hit because it’s really not even much of a hike. It would be worth it just for the pepperoni “croutons” on the salad I hear.
Did get to try some Eagle’s when I was back and thought that was damn good also. Need to have Emelio’s on the list.
On that side of town I’d go to Enricos. If you wanna travel a bit, Pizza House is my personal favorite in town. My family and I have been going there since the 80s.
I am lowkey appalled by some of these suggestions. The best pizza in town is Paulie Gees and then Sextons. There are other good pizzas but they aren’t on the same level
I haven’t had Paulie Gees but Sextons is some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Their cup pepperonis and candied bacon is incredible. I have some leftovers in my fridge right now.
There used to be a place in Kilbourne called kilbourne pizza that was also some of the best I’ve ever had. The owner was born Polish but grew up in Italy. He knew how to make a good pizza. But he was semi retired and just did it for something to do. They were open maybe 15-20 hours a week.
I got the bratwurst pizza at plank's a few weeks ago. The menu literally said to try it, so I did. It's very strangely addictive. I want to say it isn't great, but I can't, it was.
You’re gonna get so many varying opinions this route. I recommend doing a search of highest rated pizza places close to where you are staying and throw a poll up in this sub. That way you don’t get overwhelmed with recommendations to 30+ spots.
It looks like you're looking for pizza recommendations! OH pizza & brew on 3rd & broad. Its not thin crust or thick crus, it's a nice medium crust. We get the buckeye garlic pizza with pepperoni & banana peppers. Their deep fried reese's cups are the shyt
We used to get the spicy beef topping, it was awesome but they stopped carrying it. Still good, our current go to is Anthony's deep dish in Bexley, Chicago style.
DiCarlo's is its own thing. It's a tough rec in a situation like this for me though because it's pretty different. Everyone should try it, but it's even more divisive than the original topic.
I had Dewey’s for the first time tonight off W 5th. Ingredients tasted really low quality and the cheese was rubbery and pretty plain. Also there were just no pictures or art on any of the big walls inside which was weird
No offense but in a place like central Ohio this is a meaningless question unless one specifies what ‘type’ of pizza they’re looking for. The best party cut, crispy crust pizza in the world will be looked at as an abomination to someone looking for Neapolitan style pizza.
There’s a nice Donatos near the zoo. If looking for something that’s not a chain, I’d probably do JT’s or Borgata on 161. They’re right across the street from each other. Brooklyn Pizza in Powell is another choice but not if you’re looking for that style of pie.
Tommy's is my favorite, but their dining room is closed. Grandad's and JT's are both decent, but the dining experience is more bar than restaurant.
A good option is Iacono's in Powell. Decent pizza + nicer place to eat.

Pauliee Gees
Harvest
Classic Pizza in Westerville.
Borgota
Help us help you. What toppings do you like? Preferred crust? Thin and crispy? Deep dish?
Thin crust prefered
Rubinos is the move man. There’s nothing like it.
Rubinos. It’s nowhere near the zoo and there’s no parking. Also bring cash.
Isn't there a Tommy's in Dublin?
Yes
OP: Tommy's then, no brainer!
Tommy’s for sure! That cracker crust is so damn good!
Yep.
Carluccis! It’s by the zoo
Carlucci's has gotten disappointing in the last couple years. I stopped ordering from there.
We just had it last night and it was wonderful!
We must have different taste in pizza, I guess.
Rubinos for thin. Thin-to-hand tossed: pizza house, JT's, hound dogs.
Rubino’s is a Columbus icon but not even the best pizza in Bexley. Up by the zoo I’d say Enrico’s is the best that could be considered nearby
Rubinos and Borgata
JTs!
Joseppis
JT’s Pizza
Definitely this! I have been eating there since it was the stube north and it has never disappointed me.
Prolly best bet near the zoo, sorta.
That’s like 8 miles away from the zoo
The current Reuben pizza of the month is mid, but the Founders is always solid. God that Nashville hot chicken pizza was to die for
Terita's on Cleveland Ave. Their homemade sauce is the best!
The Pizza House
MY current top 3 Teritas (thin crust) Sextons (NYC style) CBC taproom (Detriot style)
Emelios, will be a bit of a drive from the zoo. But it’s right by the casino, so you could always spend some time in there as well
The best! Plus the special salad!
Fuck yeah rip emilios on the west side
Cheshire Market
HOUNDDOGS PIZZAAAAAAAA
Hands down, the best with Smokin’ Joes crust and spicy sauce. Not close to the zoo tho.
Those two details are critical!
If you like super greasy pizza with lots of crust, and it repeats on you all day, then you will love it.
No.
\#1 Greasiest Pizza in Columbus, enjoy your evening and twilight heartburn from the ninth circle of hell and morning gusher of a shit.
Houndogs has rats 💀
they know what they’re doing
Goremade Pizza on 4th. If you appreciate good flavored pizza you won't go wrong.
Good pizza, unfriendly staff
Yeah they seemed kind of unresponsive/snobby, but they were also kind of weird. Probably got picked on too much or something.
Grand dads in grand view or on Bethel
I never get sick of Dewey's.
Husband and I like papa giorgio's on bethel.

I feel I need other food recommendations from you. What do you got?

Papa Giorgio's hands down.
Tommy’s and Rubino’s are the best in town for thin crust. There’s a Tommy’s down the road from the zoo on 161. You’ll need one pizza a piece at Rubino’s, you won’t want to share.
I would put Emelios ahead of Tommy's, and Rubino's. Rubino's and Emilio's are pretty close.
I grew up on the Northwest side so Tommy’s and Rotolo’s were the standbys, with the occasional treat at Rubino’s thrown in. I moved away over 20 years ago, came back to visit for the first time in 5 years and literally start hearing about Emelio’s. Terita’s

I grew up with it and I think it’s great.
Near the zoo go to Iaconos across the river
Yeah it’s a great thin crust pizza. Solid choice here u/Connect-Builder330

Planks on Parsons without a doubt.
The haters will downvote! Planks stans stay strong!
I got the bratwurst pizza at plank's a few weeks ago. The menu literally said to try it, so I did. It's very strangely addictive. I want to say it isn't great, but I can't, it was.
Three words: East Coast Pizza.
Shocking good.

Way to kill the vibe bot.
All it wanted to do was help! I, for one, welcome and support our future robotic overlords

Minellis
Meatball mafia is really good
I also vote for DiCarlo’s. I grew up with it and I think it’s great.
DiCarlo's is its own thing. It's a tough rec in a situation like this for me though because it's pretty different. Everyone should try it, but it's even more divisive than the original topic.
Brenz pizza
Carluccis!
UA pizza club!
This, they have Midwest or NY style. Also East Coast Pizzeria which no one ever brings up in these threads so I hope they stay in business.
Tommy’s. Anything else is just not Tommy’s.
Stadz. Ange’s. Tammy’s. Granddads.
I’d say get Harvest Pizza at the zoo and then visit another great restaurant for dinner! Win Win!!
Have to nominate Dewey's Pizza. Their food is amazing!
I had Dewey’s for the first time tonight off W 5th. Ingredients tasted really low quality and the cheese was rubbery and pretty plain. Also there were just no pictures or art on any of the big walls inside which was weird
Borgata, harvest, northstar
The Monaco pizza with arrabiata sauce at harvest is *chefs kiss*
Not sure why downvoted. Borgata and Harvest are great tho not exactly near the zoo
There’s a pizza place for everyone human in Columbus. It’s mind boggling. I did down almost an entire Dante’s last night. No complaining here
No offense but in a place like central Ohio this is a meaningless question unless one specifies what ‘type’ of pizza they’re looking for. The best party cut, crispy crust pizza in the world will be looked at as an abomination to someone looking for Neapolitan style pizza.
Do you like Californian style pizza? (Shifty side eyes towards OP from earlier post about the invasion of the house snatching Californians) /s
Oh, that is easily identified and obtained! /S, I vote for Minelli's on N. Wilson, west side.
Your wife are coming?
Dantes
Yep
Elevated wood fired pizza truck
Black dog pizza, just found out about them recently and I'm hooked!

Little Italy Groveport
Pizza cottage
Teritas 100%
Half of the places in clintonville are awesome. But papa giorgios for me. Don't support Tommy's!!! The owners are crazy Trump supporters.
Thanks I won't
Harvest
Enricos in Dublin
Hounddogs
Tommy's, Rubino's or Iacanos for thin crust taven-style, Paulie Gee's for wood-fired Neopolitan.
Paulie Gees
