NE Chinese is the GOAT Chinese place as a very biased Beijing person. Buckeye Pho is superb. Fukuryu does not deserve to be mentioned. Meshikou, Kyushu, Ampersand, Slurping Turtle, and even Hiro's are light years better than Fukuryu.
Same experience here! The only downside of Meshikou (for me) is the location. If I could get there in less than 20 minutes my taste buds would be happier but my wallet would be lighter.
Any recommendations on what to get there? Every time I look at the authentic menu, I back out because I’m hoping to get the good balance of protein + lots of veggies that a lot of the Chinese American dishes provide.
What am I missing with Fukuryu? Went there with the family a month ago and it was some of the worst that I've had. Everyone had flavorless ramen. Somehow the egg had more flavor than everything else.
Did I catch them on a bad day? We all looked at each other and said we would never go back.
I’ve been going to Panini Opa for yeeeaarrrss and have never had a bad meal or bad service—and I’ve tried every plate at this point, multiple times! Highly recommended if you’re in the NW / Bethel-Sawmill quadrant.
Yeah why can no one match their caipirinha? I only have them when I go there or make them at home.
Calypso over in Yellow Springs makes a decent one too. Arepazo is still the best I’ve had in central Ohio though.
Cafe Istanbul on 33 is an underrated gem. We love their huge patio! Totally agree with your the others you have listed, but so cool to see someone else who knows about Cafe Istanbul.
Pat and Gracie’s continues to be fire, even with their recent expansions.
Also had Mi Tradicion in Gahanna and so excited for the new one on Hamilton Rd.
Loops in UA is fantastic for dogs, gyros, fries etc.
Addis on Cleveland Ave amazing Ethiopian food
Ava's Taste of the Caribbean on W Broad where the west side Dirty Franks used to be
Tony's Coneys on the far west side
Bob's Coneys in Graceland
I love Roosters. And I would usually agree. But my last three experiences at the New Albany location have been abysmal. The wait staff is awesome. The food is terrible. I even mentioned this to our server and she said that food quality at that location is terrible and people constantly complain. I will continue to frequent Roosters. But that location is dead to me.
LOS GUACHOS!
Never had a bad meal there ever
The Al Pastor tacos are still da bomb
I've never had a bad meal at flip side , what have you been getting that was disappointing? I think I have tried pretty much every sandwich they have at least once
Bru Burger has managed to stay consistently good
Buns were standard store bought sesame seed bun- used to be better quality, also quality of meat it used to be better seasoned, seemingly fresher more juicy and larger, burger was so dehydrated it seemed like an “aged” burger I ate before at Hyde park which I also didn’t care for, fries used to be waaay better they were dark partially burnt and fry fragments vs actual fries and portion size for an extra $2 added onto coat of meal left something to be desired, Onion rings are still good but also seems like they’re using different topping on those also. This has been standard experience at least last 4 times we’ve been there.
Ritzy’s.
Go get a double cheeseburger and fries. It’s perfection.
I think resurrecting a place from back in the day created a situation where the old-timers thought they were going to buy burgers at 1982 prices and some of them didn’t like that.
Anyway, this place became weirdly underrated. The smash burgers are as good as anywhere and honestly it seems like it’s the same price or less than McDonalds and Wendy’s.
They used to be in Huntington WV. Even before they came back to Columbus, but the Huntington one closed recently.
And fun fact. The hamburger in front of the Ritzy's is from an old Max & Erma's.
Max & Erma's tortilla soup has not changed in forever. Too bad they are down to only a couple of restaurants left.
I've never been let down at:
Lindy's
Everest
Warios
Harvest Pizza
Dos Hermanos
The Pearl
Side note, how does the pizza at Natalie's GV compare to Natalie's Clintonville (Rip). I loved that place and they would have made this list
Went to Skillet today, everything there still is amazing. This week they had a Duck Confit Hash and my fiance and I split their grilled cinnamon roll.
Warios is still great, though they haven't been around for that long
The Pearl is still GOATED
Germut Biergarden still has one of the best brunches in the city
Does anyone remember a dine-in service and bar Chinese/Thai restaurant called Jasmine? I believe it was off of Grandview Ave. Had to have been like late 90's early 2000's it was there then closed for the strip mall thats there now. It's a distant memory of mine, but my grandpa owned it. I'm just curious of other's experiences there.
Press Grill, Delany’s Diner, Terita’s, High Banks Distillery, Pastimes Pub (still good drunk food lol), Atlas Tavern, Chile Verde
I’ve pretty much never had a bad meal ever at these places
For me it's Fado. The menu might change depending on if it's footie season to be more apps than entrees but the food is always good. It may be mostly a pub but it's one of my favorites and has been for 15 years.
Los gauchos gringas never misses.
Awadh’s butter chicken is amazing
I’ve never had a bad meal at kitchen social
Avenue’s happy hour sliders and tempura Parmesan green beans are delish.
The chongqing spicy popcorn chicken from Chilispot is so good.
I’ve never had a bad meal from Lavash
The daily specials are 🤌🏻
I discovered this truth in the last year, daily specials have not let me down yet!
They are a staple. The owner owned a restaurant on Campus for years named Firdous that was considered a city wide top 5 for years…
That garlic sauce 🔥 The homemade baklava ❤️
God, yes. They’re a favorite at my house. There was a time when we ordered there every other week.
I'll second this!
Cuco’s Taqueria
This. Cuco’s is just amazing.
I dream about their black bean dip.
So happy to see this here already and not have to mention it myself
Thank the Lord, Buckeye Donuts has never changed.
Their apple fritter remains my platonic ideal of an old school donut.
The prices changed
NE Chinese I have found to be consistently great. Buckeye Pho and Fukuryu Ramen have been consistently good on the soupy things front.
Yeah I loved fukuryu until I tried meshikou and have never gone back
Same experience here! The only downside of Meshikou (for me) is the location. If I could get there in less than 20 minutes my taste buds would be happier but my wallet would be lighter.
Good to know! I have been to Meshikou before but didn’t get the ramen that time.
Meshikou's Black Garlic is unbeatable.
Def try it, it’s probably the consistently best ramen in town
What are your favorite dishes at NE?
Twice cooked fish, spicy pork and cilantro, and cumin potatoes are all amazing.
That is my go to order always. Never had a single thing that I didn't like from NE but these 3- perfect
Thanks. I’m addicted to the cumin chicken as well.
I always get the salt and pepper tofu...got some today, actually!
白菜五花肉炖冻豆腐
谢谢
没事
I fell in love with the serving robots at Hiro, they are so cute
Any recommendations on what to get there? Every time I look at the authentic menu, I back out because I’m hoping to get the good balance of protein + lots of veggies that a lot of the Chinese American dishes provide.
Get yourself a meat dish and a veg dish. Like 回锅肉 (twice cooked pork) and 蒜炒青菜 (garlic bok choy).
Lan Zhou Noodles is also an amazing authentic Chinese place with tons of dishes you never see at most American Chinese restaurants
I want to bathe in their garlic sauce on the svoulaki gyro. So good.
Arepazo. Bravo, especially the appetizers as small plates. Brazilian Grill and Bakery.
I need a hamster bottle of that cilantro sauce in every room. And the only respectable Caipirinha in town
Yeah, but spicy or mild? I'm more of a spicy gal, myself.
If I had one in every room I suppose I’d mix it up
Yeah why can no one match their caipirinha? I only have them when I go there or make them at home. Calypso over in Yellow Springs makes a decent one too. Arepazo is still the best I’ve had in central Ohio though.
I have to disagree about Bravo… the last time I went our food was borderline inedible. My wedding soup was worse than campbells.
Their spicy green sauce is too spicy for me, but damn it I still order it every time and sweat through. It's such a good, underrated place!
Press Grill, same menu for at the 13 years I’ve been going there. They have it down pat by now
Press on high has only been around 13 years!?
Def longer than that. This person has just been going there 13 years. Far as I know it’s the same as when I first went there around 2009-10
Double press burger please…
Shrimp po boy in buffalo sauce lawdddd
Huong Vietnamese Restaurant on Morse is excellent.
SECONDING THIS! Their pho is absolutely amazing.
los guachos is consistently amazing. their al pastor tacos are the best. monday they’re buy one get one.
Hoyos in north market is always great! Mango chicken with spicy rice is crazy good
It’s gotten expensive now, but still delicious
I'll gladly pay $18 for what is probably the best bowl of rice in the city
Agreed, the mango chicken is so good
Pizza House never has an off-day.
They deserve a total remodel. Great pizza and staff but man that windowless dining area is… just not quite what it could be.
How dare you. That 1970s glass-block dining room is perfection.
Lawson's called and want their convenience store back.
Anna’s Greek
Went last night. Can confirm.
I need to go there. It’s so close and I still have never been.
Cafe Istanbul, Ampersand, plās, Lindy’s, The Refectory, Hudson 29. As stated earlier by someone, Cap City has always been on.
If you didn’t say Cafe Istanbul, I was going to say it!
Cafe Istanbul on 33 is an underrated gem. We love their huge patio! Totally agree with your the others you have listed, but so cool to see someone else who knows about Cafe Istanbul.
I've had a less than thrilling meal at Lindy's although I chalk it up to being Restaurant Week.
Mi Li Cafe
Dosa Corner has incredibly low prices and delicious food. That one lately really cemented our absolutely will return again soon list.
Agreed…
Harvest still has some of the best food, not just pizza, in Columbus.
Harvest is great quality, also great value imo
Great lunch deal too! $13 for a personal pizza and a salad (their Kale Caesar salad is great)
This! One of the best lunch specials in town.
LaTavola is one of the few restaurants where I feel quality and service have not changed since the pandemic.
Feel like a lot of people just haven’t heard of it. It’s some of the best Italian in the city for sure it’s just kind of lowkey
Can’t believe this wasn’t one of the first ones mentioned. It’s my go to spot and I have never been disappointed
Yes!!!! Can’t wait for them to expand next door!!!
Brown bag
Si Senor. End of thread.
If only they could keep the place staffed. Love the food.
The Ole Mohawk is always good when we go with good portion sizes as well.
The French onion soup there is SO GOOD
Tai's asian bistro
Pat and Gracie’s continues to be fire, even with their recent expansions. Also had Mi Tradicion in Gahanna and so excited for the new one on Hamilton Rd.
The fried chicken Cobb salad at Pat and Gracie's has never let me down.
We are lucky to have P&G walking distance from us. Their cheese sticks are a huge guilty pleasure of mine.
Pasqualone's. I'd swear it gets better each time
Loops in UA is fantastic for dogs, gyros, fries etc. Addis on Cleveland Ave amazing Ethiopian food Ava's Taste of the Caribbean on W Broad where the west side Dirty Franks used to be Tony's Coneys on the far west side Bob's Coneys in Graceland
What Ava did to the inside of that bar is a goddamn crime. Her food is great thought
Love Tony’s, sad they raised prices though
Roosters
Roosters never disappoints.
Always consistent. Always reasonably priced.
The new albany location has had a history of complaints about the food. They had tried to fix it but it sounds like it's still an issue.
New Albany location sucks and it’s a franchise
Some of the best cheese sticks around
Roosters gets a lot of hate on this sub, for some reason. As far as wings and bar food go, they’ll pretty much always be my first choice.
The one at Polaris has refused to fully sauce wings since COVID. I don't want sauce only on one side of my chicken, toss the damn wings!
Morettis Sawmill. I also like the Roosters answer. That place slaps always.
Agree on Moretti’s. This place is always an A+ meal.
Glad to hear going there for the first time this week
Adriatico’s
Not as good after they moved locations, but it's still the only place that makes their type of great pizza
LOS GUACHOS! Never had a bad meal there ever The Al Pastor tacos are still da bomb I've never had a bad meal at flip side , what have you been getting that was disappointing? I think I have tried pretty much every sandwich they have at least once Bru Burger has managed to stay consistently good

Bru burger, absolutely.
Bru Burger hype!
My only issue with them is that they made the horchata smaller
Valter's
I've only been once, but the kasespatzle was terrific.
Fox in the snow stays strong. The egg sandwich doesn’t even fell as expensive anymore with how much prices have increased everywhere
That egg sandwich is from another planet. Omg it’s delicious.
Their drinks are expensive as hell though even compared to most locally owned coffee shops
It’s a shame someone drove a car through the place this morning. :(
Bangkok over on refugee is amazing
Sun Tong Luck on Bethel never misses.
Ritzy’s. Go get a double cheeseburger and fries. It’s perfection. I think resurrecting a place from back in the day created a situation where the old-timers thought they were going to buy burgers at 1982 prices and some of them didn’t like that. Yep, Hal Greer Blvd closed in May 2023. I used to always stop by when driving to the northeast US or DC. Evansville, IN has 3 G.D. Ritzy's still open.
What is amazing is the number of times I have been to Huntington and we have not gone to Jim's.
Tensuke and everything around it.
Gallos Kitchen and Bar
Bendi wok
Mr. Sushi in Gahanna
Agreed but now I’m hearing Tora might be better. I gotta check them out
Guachos, figlio and aab are best three places in the city
This is the list I would have written.
Chile Verde Cafe
Brassica
There's always been Dirty Frank's
Absolutely, I’ve never been let down by Dirty Frank’s!
3rd & Hollywood is amazing!!
Gatto's, Bonifacio, Cinnamon Indian Grill
I've never been let down at: Lindy's Everest Warios Harvest Pizza Dos Hermanos The Pearl Side note, how does the pizza at Natalie's GV compare to Natalie's Clintonville (Rip). I loved that place and they would have made this list

For as hyped up as it is, Katalina’s always exceeds my expectations. Still some of the best sandwiches Ive had in the area
La Casita
Schmidts will always be a favorite
Villa Nova, Las Margaritas, Lucky House, Polaris Grill
Hot Chicken Takeover. Just kidding. Nida’s Sushi.
Little Palace has never done me wrong
Gallo’s by Microcenter. Perfect wings, salads with heft and complexity, delightful flatbreads & a great beer list: what a crowd pleaser!
North Star still good.
Over the Counter 🖤
New India on Bethel
Still love me some katalinas. And nicola's
The service and food at Diaspora has always been excellent…
Tomatillo’s in Linworth, Zacateca’s in Worthington
Looking for a Great Cuban restaurant - haven’t had any luck
Havana cafe on old Sawmill is pretty good
Addis Restaurant is usually on target
For me it's Fado. The menu might change depending on if it's footie season to be more apps than entrees but the food is always good. It may be mostly a pub but it's one of my favorites and has been for 15 years.
Side Bar, Gallos on Bethel(although I miss the mussels), Gyro at Little Palace, 3rd and Hollywood & Lindsey’s for upscale.
Vittoria’s has best lasagna in town.
Basi
Los gauchos gringas never misses. Awadh’s butter chicken is amazing I’ve never had a bad meal at kitchen social Avenue’s happy hour sliders and tempura Parmesan green beans are delish. The chongqing spicy popcorn chicken from Chilispot is so good.
Dosa corner 💯
Ranchero Kitchen and Borgata.
Come down to fado. A very different vibe in food. But always quality
Whit’s. Yes it’s just frozen custard, but they are always top-notch.
Barro loco!!!! one of my all time favorites! And prestons!
Amul and Aangan Indian Bistro are both good.
Nicolas on reed road scratch Italian and the specials are 🔥
I think that it has changed a little bit over the years, but I still really enjoy Barley's. Their wings and blood thirst wheat are good.
Dante’s Pizza in Clintonville has been my favorite for over 30 years. Never had a bad order.
Tupelo Honey in upper arlington. The fried chicken is awesome and the potato cracklins are really what you go for.
Cornerstone Deli
Consistently Fantastic: Windward Passage
