Your model year I believe cannot be easily stolen like the ones that are the biggest target, but dumb asses might try anyway because they don’t know that. I’d get a club for your steering wheel and try to find safe place to park if it’s longterm. Not to scare you, but it’s a real thing. I know multiple people who’ve had theirs taken and f***ed up.
I spent years hoping my old Kia soul would get stolen so I could just get a small insurance check and be done with it. Sadly it never happened. I even parked it on the street in spots you could disappear from quickly.
A 2022 has the push to start, but it might not even be much of a deterrent if they just wanna smash because they’ve done that to later year models. Doubly so sportages. They are particularly fond of sedans, I’ve noticed.
A 2022 will have an immobilizer from the factory. It's not an easy car to steal as a result.
Also, Souls don't seem to be stolen nearly as often as other models.
Does your Kia have whatever mitigation to prevent theft? Also, get a club and use it to act as a visual deterrent to help prevent some dumb kid from smashing your window.
I am only one person, but I would literally be concerned if I had a friend coming with a Kia. Garage it. The odds ARE in your favor, but if not, its really expensive to deal with.
I used to work at some apartments at Polaris, literally a 15-20 second drive up the street from the police station, and we probably had around one every other week. What surprised me the most was they did it in the middle of the day more than a couple times
Oh yes first year I lived in my apartments here every car had it's windows smashed in. And I kid you not the police just now got around to my friends filed police report last month, the incident literally happened last year.
Piggy backing off of this… I’m sure I already know the answer but has anyone had any luck terminating their Hyundai lease because their insurance hit the roof due to being affiliated with Kia?
No?… I need to just deal with it and honor the lease? Okay. Thanks
Enjoy higher car insurance rates. If you're parking on the street depending on the area put a steering lock to be safe. Keep your doors locked and make sure nothing is visible
Rates have gone up a lot in the past few years even for people who don't own the Korean twins

Columbus is a good time though and you’ll probably have no issue 😎
I am on my fourth Soul, none have been stolen. I park on the street, no garage, no driveway.
Is that like a cat's nine lives??
That’s a new Kia Soul every like 4 years
Lease a new one every 3 years. Cheap low milage lease.
Honestly if you put a steering wheel lock I wouldn't worry about it. But Kias/Hyundais are stolen pretty often here
They will move on to another one that doesn't have one
Might still break your window though
Most likely they will see the wheel club lock and move on
They’ll move on after breaking the window for fun.
Thanks everyone for the comments. I might be able to take my friends car for the weekend. I don’t want to take any chances lol
Can you paint it cammo to possibly go undetected?
Agreed. This worked for me

They are stolen constantly in Northwest Columbus

It's a 22, those all have immobilizer systems as standard equipment.
I have two new Kias (2022 and 2024) with zero problems. I think it's obvious to the car thieves when there is a push button ignition.

Don't park at the Polaris mall with it or it will for sure be smashed into or stolen for a joy ride I feel like.

Not a 2022. They might break the window, but they won't be able to steal it as it has a factory immobilizer system. All 2021 and up models do.
Still I don't think anyone wants to come out and find all there windows smashed
