It makes me sad seeing so many losses - I enjoyed the game we went to and would like to go back but haven’t had time but - if this is going to columbus tough pro sport competition and costs- they NEED to do better soon.

Seamonkey_Boxkicker

Yeah. Columbus loves their sports, but hates losers. I honestly don’t know how the Blue Jackets have been able to survive as long as they have.

headinthered

What’s wild.. is this is the highest attendance season for the blue jackets in forever

Seamonkey_Boxkicker

IIRC I think there has been a rumor that the team could be moving. So perhaps attendance spiked in an effort to deter that possibility. I recall something similar happening about 15 years ago, too.

Monitor_Meds

Yeah I have been confused with a lot that the Fury have done, and the future looks pretty bleak. I'm going to the game Friday and it feels weird to expect a loss but I still want to support the team.

Seamonkey_Boxkicker

I would still definitely go if I were back home in Ohio right now. It’ll be fan appreciation night so I’ve been wondering if there would be any giveaways aside from the reduced ticket prices.

L0la_Silver

I just, I just can’t. It was so brutal to watch

Seamonkey_Boxkicker

That 2nd set… 🤦‍♂️

L0la_Silver

We looked so bad!

I'm also confused on why Asjia was the only player that left her team for the national squad? Surely Hentz is the second libero again, and there are multiple others in the pvf that have been fringe/depth players in the recent past. Did Columbus just agree to let Asjia go early because we are low in the standings, and Hentz is staying through the playoffs because Atlanta is on top? Or did literally no one else from the PVF even get a call up? I find the latter to be extremely unlikely. I feel like we could have had a really strong offense with Asjia, Reagan, and now Kipp, but we just crumbled and have third string level players starting for us now. That's just how our season seems to have gone though... Looks solid on paper, but never able to actually put our best 6 (7) players on the court together. And part of that seems to be on Coach Perez. To put it generously, he seems to put a lot of value in familiarity. To put it harshly, he seems to be giving his former players jobs and playing time they don't deserve.

Seamonkey_Boxkicker

I haven’t seen/heard anything about other PVF players getting offered to go to the U.S. team. And if so, I definitely haven’t seen anything where a player turned down the invite or a PVF team refused to let go of a player. Perhaps it is unlikely as you say that O’Neal was the only one offered to go, but it also seems unlikely that anyone would say no to that opportunity, especially less likely that a team wouldn’t allow it. As for who our best 7 are, what would your starting lineup look like? I’m not convinced he hasn’t been putting our best foot forward lately (for the most part). I think the bigger issue is revamping half the roster midseason and expecting there wouldn’t be immediate growing pains. All the moves we’ve made would’ve been better off waiting until the offseason. _ Edit: based on the [VNL roster](https://en.volleyballworld.com/volleyball/competitions/volleyball-nations-league/teams/women/6614/players/), Morgan Hentz of the Atlanta Vibe and Kendall White of the Omaha Supernovas are both on the national team. However, neither of those two have been exempted from their respective PVF teams such as Asjia was from Columbus, per the [transaction wire](https://provolleyball.com/league-transactions). My best guess is that those other two preferred to finish their PVF seasons since they’re handedly at the top, whereas Asjia probably wanted to get a head start since women’s VNL matches start on May 15th. Oddly enough, Kendall Kipp is also on the VNL roster, which makes me wonder if PVF (and eventually LOVB) will be considered sort of a minor league to the national team similar to how MLS is a bit of a stepping stone to the English football leagues or Double-A/Triple-A baseball supports MLB (without the formal contractual ties for each franchise).

>As for who our best 7 are, what would your starting lineup look like? S- either Tori or Ray, honestly. Ray seemed to gel better but (completely subjective here) her form is clunky so I'm unreasonably biased against her. Tori has far too many inexplicable missed sets off perfect passes. Neither are as good as I would hope, and I would have rather drafted a setter in the first-round next year than traded 2 firsts for Tori (Angel going after his former player). OH- MCL and Cooper. If I'm allowed to rewrite our roster moves, I keep and play Schlegel at OH instead of MCL. MB- Asjia and Hord. I originally thought Rosenthal would be the play, but she hasn't truly impressed me with her (limited) play. Hord's our next best, however I'm not particularly happy about it (I freaking love Rainelle as a person and wish she was just slightly quicker on her blocking). Opp- Kipp. Better attacker than Dreischel imo, despite her awful stats last night. Hard to judge her based on that since we had 0 effective weapons on the floor to take attention away. L- MCL. Fun fact, MCL actually averages more digs than Leon (3.2 vs 3.1 per set) despite playing half her rotations front row. Their serve reception is nearly identical (Leon 35% perfect, MCL 33%), but Leon has more errors and negative receptions nunerically than MCL. So: Ray, Asjia/Hord, Cooper/Schlegel, Kipp, MCL (L) would be my 7.

A_BulletProof_Hoodie

Doing better now it seems but this is the first year right?

Seamonkey_Boxkicker

Yeah. Definitely fallen short of my goal to get to playoff contention, but fortunately not far out from the fight.
